@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF

What’s the timescale for a FET??? Trying to work out how long we are likely to wait before starting again, and then, how long it will take (roughly). Had been looking forward to making some plans again but now feel like life still on hold

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 18/08/2019 08:51

@anaesthetist83 just wanted to say aswell just because your hormones have shot up doesn’t mean you will get OHSS I didn’t I had the day of ec off and went back to work the following day! Lots of water helps and I was also given cetrotide injections and blood thinners to help with after and I was back to my normal self with in 2/3 days! I started on my next period which was five days after ec not sure on your protocol but on day 21 I started buserelin injections and the whole process was complete within about 5 weeks the only think that held it up for me was my period was about a week late on the buserelin but that can happen and once that was out the way everything moved on smoothly! Hope that helps!

Anaesthetist83 · 18/08/2019 09:12

Thank you.

Fingers crossed - Tuesday is a Paediatric neuro anaesthesia list which is usually 7.30am til often after 7 with no breaks. I wouldn’t legally be able to drive to work, and it’s not worth taking the risk on other people’s lives so I am very happy to take annual leave for that. Fingers crossed I’ll be back in on Wed.

How high was your oestradiol? Mine was 18000 on day 9 of stims.

Happy to be guided by clinic but relieved to hear the wait may not be quite a long as I had in my mind. Thanks!

Hi'ya ladies, I was wondering if it'd be OK to join you? @VenusStarr kindly pointed me in your direction (we 'know' each from the TTC board) because I think I'm overdue a move to these boards and would really appreciate some chat/mutual support from ladies going through similar ❤️

I was TTC with XH for 3.5 years and was labelled primary unexplained. Was eligible for NHS IVF, but marriage broke down and process stopped (obviously! 😄). Fast forward through 3 years of divorce and OLD and I'm now very lucky to have found love and have been TTC again for 18 months - once again labelled primary unexplained 🙄 Eligible for NHS IVF again, but at 39 my chances of successful IVF are getting smaller and smaller the longer we wait so we're going self funded 💸 Initial consultation with the doc will be the end of September, and they'll test AMH and antral follicle scan (all was well back in 2013, but I'm fully aware a lot can change). If that comes back OK, consent appointment a week later and start drugs (down regging?) in November with hopefully IVF in December 🤞🏻

Anyway. Feels weird talking about myself a lot (and apologies if that was overly long!😣), but wanted to let you know how I got here. Looking forward to getting to know you all and your journeys.x

Hi @bambionice80; it’s a lovely thread here and everyone is so lovely!

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend! I start injecting Friday and my DP has just informed me that he is working late that night so that means I have to self inject myself for the first time for my first injection on my own 😓

squirrelnutkins1 · 19/08/2019 18:22

@Anaesthetist83 how did EC go today? Hope you're feeling ok xx

Welcome @BambiOnIce80 chat away, this is a safe space to download your thoughts! X

It went ok @squirrelnutkins1 thank you.

Looked after very well by the team. Plenty of sedation from the Anaesthetist (a colleague of mine) so remember nothing. 16 eggs collected in the end, so they will be happy to transfer after all if have blastocysts.

Now feeling sore

squirrelnutkins1 · 19/08/2019 18:26

I'm glad it went well @Anaesthetist83 I hope you're resting up xxx

BambiOnIce80 · 19/08/2019 19:52

Thank you very much for the welcome @GreyC and @squirrelnutkins1 😊

That's crappy news about your DP being away and having to go it alone for your first injection @GreyC 😞 Are you needle phobic? I've heard that rubbing an ice cube on the injection site before you start helps a bit, if you're worried about it hurting? My DP is horribly needle phobic, so I know I'll be going it alone if/when the time comes in November!

Oooh, you'd be getting essays if I was allowed to download my thoughts @squirrelnutkins1! 😂 I'll try and keep them short though 😉

That sounds like a very decent egg haul indeed @Anaesthetist83 🥚👍🏻 Keeping everything crossed for you for the next few days 🤞🏻 🍀

I've just had my first mini milestone for a sign that things are moving forward for us - an invoice from the NHS for payment for our initial appointment in September 💸😏 I have been wishing my life away, wanting the appointment to hurry up and get here... but as it's getting closer, I'm now starting to worry that I'll have a terrible egg reserve result and things will be over before they've begun 😣 Any tips for not falling down the rabbit hole and getting stuck in your own head with this stuff?x

veeboo · 19/08/2019 20:21

@Anaesthetist83 sounds like a success! Well done! How are you feeling?

@GreyC oh no! Could anyone help you or could you ask the clinic for advice?

I'm so glad things are moving forward for so many of you.

@squirrelnutkins1 how is your cycle going?

Anaesthetist83 · 19/08/2019 20:23

@veeboo Unfortunately very sore

veeboo · 19/08/2019 20:39

Sorry to hear that @Anaethetist83. Did you say you've got some time off? Keep us updated and take care.

squirrelnutkins1 · 19/08/2019 21:21

@GreyC sorry you'll be injecting alone ☹️ you're very brave and can do this 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

@BambiOnIce80 the only thing I can suggest is keep talking on threads like this, it's really helped keep me sane!

@veeboo ok thanks. Cd22. Just trying to ignore and keep busy. How are you? Xx

@Anaesthetist83 hope the soreness eases soon x

Anaesthetist83 · 19/08/2019 21:26

@veeboo I’ve taken tomorrow off as annual leave but unless I see a rapid improvement (ie can walk without bending over), I’m not sure I’ll be back on Wednesday!!!

Anaesthetist83 · 20/08/2019 08:41

Well a pretty rough night has been worth it.

We had 16 eggs collected, 15 of which were mature. 12 have fertilised!

squirrelnutkins1 · 20/08/2019 12:40

@Anaesthetist83 wow that's great news!! How are you feeling? Xx

@BambiOnIce80 welcome! @Anaesthetist83 wow thats great news hope ur feelin better today @squirrelnutkins 👋 @GreyC have u got ur meds ready to go then? Hope everyone else is doing k..ive had THE most stressful day today work was a bloody nightmare new way of workin that surprise surprise causes more stress and workload and i had to keep sneaking away to fone the clinic who were constantly engaged finally got through and got my appt tho woohoo! Lol

Anaesthetist83 · 20/08/2019 13:06

Hmmmm I’ve been back to the clinic and rescanned. A fair amount of free fluid which is likely accounting for why I feel so awful

BambiOnIce80 · 20/08/2019 18:04

Congratulations on your clinic appointment @2fingers22018 🎉 Potentially daft question (apologies - I've not made it through the full thread yet!), but is that to start treatment? Very exciting times ahead, if so! 🤩

Great news about your fertilised eggs @Anaesthetist83, but sorry to hear about the free fluid 💐 Please excuse my ignorance (total newbie to the IVF chat!), but what does that indicate? Bleeding/bruising/something completely different?x

Anaesthetist83 · 20/08/2019 18:17

@BambiOnIce80

Potentially just a collection of inflammatory fluid, potentially blood, small chance of having injured bowel (but I would have expected to have got worse by now). Essentially the needle is inserted more or less blind (despite ultrasound)

CloudSway · 20/08/2019 18:20

@bambionice80 if you figure out a way to not worry, make sure you share it with us!! 😂 I'm the same, I've had the egg reserve test and it was lowish but not terrible, but of course I'm now convinced the eggs will be less than useless quality. We always find something tl obsess over! What works for me is to make plans, I'm also wishing my life away until October, but have deliberately planned a few exciting/nice things so I can at least pause to enjoy a different part of my life.

@anaesthetist83 great news on the egg front, congratulations! Sorry you're feeling rough though x

2fingers22018 · 20/08/2019 19:42

@BambiOnIce80 dnt be sorry im lost with half of this too lol ive been to the clinic twice now filled in my consent forms had sum bloods, ive to get MORE bloods to get done uuggghh still no meds the nhs in my area moves at the pace of a snail! @Anaesthetist83 hope ur feeling better sounds painful

BambiOnIce80 · 20/08/2019 20:00

@Anaesthetist83 - ouch! 😞 Are they going to just continue to monitor you to make sure it sorts itself out or are they going to start any anti-inflammatories/appropriate drugs to help things? I must admit that it had crossed my mind that ultrasound guidance can't be super precise. I hope you feel better soon 💐

@2fingers22018 there always seems to be more bloods, don't there?! 💉 I know I've got to have my AMH done and we've both got to have our viral status bloods done at the September appointment, but I'm bracing myself for some bonus extra bloods of some description that we weren't expecting! 😏 Sounds like you're pretty much hot to trot with your consent forms done though 👍🏻 Will you be starting injections when your next AF is here?

I promise to share the secret if I ever find it @CloudSway! 😄 I'm usually pretty good at not thinking myself around in circles, but the closer this egg reserve assessment is getting, the more 🦇💩🤪 I'm sending myself 🤦‍♀️ It was 'normal' back in 2013, but I've convinced myself it won't be this time 🙄 But then if it is alright, I'll have to start the (down regging?) injections whilst we're abroad in November... so I'm already obsessing about the logistics of flying with them, keeping them cold, hiding them from DP's family/coming up with a legitimate subterfuge to keep them in their fridge without giving the game away (they don't know we're even TTC), worrying about how the hell we go about taking a sharps bin with us - basically driving myself 🤬ing nuts about something that it's not even necessary to plan for yet!! 🤪🤯🤪🤯 Doesn't sound like I'm going to crack the 'stop obsessing' nut anytime soon, does it?! 😂

As far as distractions go, I've had a pretty successful one (until now, at least 😏) since June - we decided to go for it and get a kitten 😺 What exciting things do you have planned before October (I need more inspiration! 😉)?

VenusStarr · 20/08/2019 20:06

Hi everyone 👋 hope you're all OK, I did type out a message yesterday but then lost it 🙄

@BambiOnIce80 good to see you 😊 good news about your appointment too

@Anaesthetist83 hope you're not in too much discomfort, but good news on your eggs / embryos. Are you still on track for transfer this cycle?

@squirrelnutkins1 hope you're OK ❤️

@2fingers22018 sounds like things are moving on 👍

@veeboo how are you getting on?

@CloudSway @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF @Kelly199 hope you're all doing well

I've got a scan booked for Thursday at the epu, should be 6+3 by my dates. Trying not to think about things too much but I'm so scared xx

2fingers22018 · 20/08/2019 20:09

@BambiOnIce80 god the whole going abroad with meds sounds like a major headache lol im stressing just now that theyve not sorted my appts correctly so ive got day 14bloods makes sense but then an appt on cd30 for my scan im now wondering are they muddled up and thinking that al b on my period by then.
But i did say on the phone to the receptionist that i get longer cycles closer to every5 wks she didnt seem the best at figuring out the dates. Aww a kittens a great distraction we ve been looking into getting a dog, have the got ur kittie yet or just looking? X
