@CloudSway thankyou 😊! Glad your appointment went well sounds like you have come away from it really positive! Hope you get started soon

@BambiOnIce80 thank you!

@venustarr thankyou! Hope your pre op goes well let us know how you get on! Xx

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 02/10/2019 11:35

So we’ve that had some bad news today the embryo that has was doing well had collapsed and while they day this can happen they expect to re expand and do what ever it is doing so we are now on to embryo 3 to get thawed and they will monitor this one to see if it survives or not am feeling really deflated and like everything is against us on this one 😢

BambiOnIce80 · 02/10/2019 11:35

Oh crikey ladies 😣 My brain is in hyperdrive about next week's treatment plan appointment already! 🤯 Can I please get your perspectives on if my thoughts on IVF/ICSI are either founded/logical or just plain old obsessing over nothing/nuts?! 🤪

So. Seems I've been labelled with 'primary unexplained' infertility, I've been reading for ages around what causes can be found for it during the IVF process. Apparently, in some patients it can be found the next morning in the petri-dish that the reason for the infertility is because the egg is either impenetrable by the sperm (= hard boiled 🥚) or super-permeable (= slutty 😘). In both cases, none of the embryos would obviously fertilise and we will have blown the best part of £5K for nothing (😫🤯😫🤯). The consultant kind of mentioned but skipped past the ins and outs of the possibility of a failed cycle, but it's sent this fear of mine into overdrive! 🤪

Admittedly this reason for primary unexplained is relatively rare, but it's gotta happen to someone, right?! We don't have another £5K for an ICSI cycle if this scenario plays out and it would literally shatter my already delicate psyche if this happens to us!! 😭 So, what would you guys do? Would you A) insist on ICSI at the treatment appointment to take out the majority of the risk of a failed cycle (only about £400 more expensive, BTW. Not a huge amount in the grand scheme of things) or would you B) give yourself a strong mental slap, stop obsessing, and just take the IVF option because vocalising your fears would make you look like the TTC process has finally snapped your sanity? 🤪😬

Sorry it's long 😔 Really needed to get this out to people who might understand.x

BambiOnIce80 · 02/10/2019 11:38

I'm so sorry @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF! Cross-posted 😞 I can't imagine how upset you must be 😔 Sending tonnes of positive thoughts and love that embie 3 will be the one ❤️

VenusStarr · 02/10/2019 11:51

Oh my gosh @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF I'm sorry. Got my fingers crossed for your third emby 🤞 if your other one re-expands would you still be able to try with that one? ❤️ Such a stressful time, sending positive thoughts xx

@BambiOnIce80 personally if it is a difference of £400 I would go with icsi, purely for peace of mind. But, saying that I think your mind have gone into a bit of overdrive (totally understandable, I think we all would). No slapping, but if its was thousands more I'd be more cautious saying go for icsi but for that reassurance for that price I think it makes sense.
Ps, I like your hard boiled and slutty eggs analogy 😂

VenusStarr · 02/10/2019 14:04

Sorry in advance for the loan, but finally got hold of the rmc, apparently our appointment won't be until sometime in January! 😔😔 Just feeling really flat about it all. I was hoping that I have this op soon then after recovery we could start ttc again but having had some tears / investigations. I'll be seeing the fertility consultant again in January, I'll probably see him before the rmc 🙄 I love the NHS and I hate moaning about it but it's rubbish. I'll have a chat with dh later and see what he thinks about trying again before we've seen the rmc.

Also, just before I left I discovered a leak! Think it's the shower / bath but it's tiled and can't get to under the bath (plus wouldn't have a clue what to do / look for). Left the dehumidifier on and lifted the carpet on the landing. Our plumbers phone is off and dh is working til late.

I also suspect af is on her way so not swimming today as she's not arrived yet so don't want to risk it. But really feel like I could do with letting off steam, might just have a big glass of wine when I get home and a cuddle with the cats.

Argh, sorry for the moany, fed up post.

Hope your transfer went OK @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF, been thinking about you xx

VenusStarr · 02/10/2019 14:05

Sorry about all the bloody spelling mistakes!!

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 02/10/2019 14:24

So I finally have an embie on board! 3rd one survived the thaw and they seemed really pleased that It managed to do what ever it needed to do in an hour! Transfer was a nightmare my bladder was to full so had to jump up and go toilet twice! They were having difficulties getting the catheter to go where it needed so all in all took an hour but now on the way home!

VenusStarr · 02/10/2019 15:07

Yay to your embaby being on board @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF :) hope you have a restful rest of the day

BambiOnIce80 · 02/10/2019 17:57

Moan away @VenusStarr! Definitely better out than in 💐 Whilst I was in the waiting room on Monday I noticed that the clinic receptionist was just taking phone call after phone call from ladies trying to get a sooner appointment 😔 I agree with you - I love the NHS so much, but the fertility services (and many others, I'm sure) are woefully overstretched. And thank you for your opinion on my over-thinking obsession ❤️ I really do need to get some second opinions from you ladies who understand so that I can figure out how to approach next Thursdays appointment.x

Absolutely fantastic news about embie number 3 @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF! 🎉😍🎉😍 They're clearly a plucky little embie to defrost and be awesome in a fraction of the time of the others, so here's keeping everything crossed for excellent news at the end of your TWW 🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀

GreyC · 02/10/2019 20:38

Hi ladies; hope we are well? It’s a weird feeling in the tww this time. Having some cramps at the minute: almost A throbbing/burning and a twinge feeling which is so bloody weird! Trying to not think about it too much as progesterone is giving me all sorts of weird sympotoms!

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 02/10/2019 20:47

@VenusStarr thanks Hun! Feel free to moan away that’s what we are here for! Hope you get the leak sorted!!

@BambiOnIce80 awww thankyou that’s lovely to say I hope this one is a little fighter feel slightly calmer now after my acupuncture session and dh has cooked me s nice dinner so just am jist waiting for bed time which will be shortly
If I were you I’d pay the extra and have ICSI that what we had due to mfi but this is such a hard and stressful time of you know it’s going to improve chances of fertilisation then go for it!

CloudSway · 03/10/2019 08:50

@finallytakingtheplungewithivf oh I'm so pleased you had luck with the 3rd one, as you say this one must be a fighter, and if they are pleased then you should be super pleased! Doctors aren't big on false hope so that's a great sign, sorry it was a stressful path but glad OH is taking his role of looking after you seriously lol 🤞❤

@venusstarr it's so frustrating, i know the waiting is the worst especially when you just want answers 😕 is there anyway of getting a cancellation appointment maybe? Hope you had that glass of wine! If exercise is your usual way of letting of steam, could you go for a run or something so you still get the benefit without af making a nuisance of herself? I mean, i despise running, but it sounds like something a lovely fit person like yourself might enjoy 😆😋 what happened with the leak? When you know how, it's usually quite easy to get into the bath so your Plummer shouldn't have any issues, so try not to worry too much (easier said than done I know) 💐

@greyC oh I'd be terrible over analysing every twinge, i think it's natural, just try not to drive yourself nuts! Allow yourself a little hope though, maybe it means something is settling in 🤞

@bambionice80 Right, firstly, can I come to your place as my ICSI is £525, prob more now we are having MACS ICSI 😬🤑 lol it's crap though, the financial side makes everything even more stressful!
Secondly more seriously, personally I would go ICSI. I know nothing (Jon Snow) but surely the same boiled/slutty issue can happen as a faint chance regardless of if you go regular or ICSI? At the end of the day, whichever you choose you have to think how much your odds massively increase from not having ivf at all! Actually even if all you did was take a handful of meds you are boosting your chances so you can't make a bad choice as long as you make any choice at all 👍
Yes, sounds like we will be close in terms of going tgrough the process!🤩Excuse the Q but where are you in your cycle?! (Infertility really makes you forget boundaries, you don't have to answer lol) We were told we start meds on cd21 so it'll either be 17th Oct or around 13th Nov. Went for blood test yesterday, DH trying to rush his through today so we can hit the 17th deadline!! 🤯🤞🤪

BambiOnIce80 · 03/10/2019 13:57

I hear you @GreyC ❤️ I'm a symptom spotting psycho at the best of times times, so I dread to think what I'll be like post ET! 🤪 Keeping everything crossed for you that what you're feeling is a very good sign 🤞🏻

It sounds like your day got better and better @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF 😊 Out of interest, did your acupuncturist advise a session after the ET? I haven't seen mine since our appointment on Monday and she's always alluded to their being an acupuncture plan around the IVF cycle once I got there, but I'm wondering what exactly that plan is?! 🤔 Would love to hear what your acupuncture plan was around IVF.x

I'm a terrible over-sharer @CloudSway , so please ask away! 😂 I'm CD22 at the moment and will probably be CD1 on October 11th (the day after our treatment plan appointment). Thinking you'll probably be a month ahead of me, by the sounds of things. I thought I had a good idea of when the down-regging would start from the info the clinic sent out (~8th November), but now with this talk of using the pill as part of the down-regging, I have no clue! 🤷‍♀️ I guess I'll get all the info/instructions I need at next Thursdays appointment 🤞🏻

Thank you so much @VenusStarr @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF @CloudSway for your thoughts on my 'to IVF or ICSI' unhealthy obsession dilemma 💖 DP's keen on the ICSI idea as well, given my (potentially irrational 🤪) concerns. On the boiled/slutty egg front @CloudSway , the way to resolve the issue is ICSI because injecting a single sperm directly into the egg gets around both issues 💉🎈🥚😘👍 From what I've read, the downside to ICSI would be that the sperm is obviously chosen because it 'looks good' but might not actually be the best sperm for the job of fertilising an egg, whereas in IVF the 'best quality' sperm is the one that successfully makes it to the egg naturally and fertilises it... so many things to consider!! 🤯🤯🤯 And what is this MACS that you speak of?? I haven't come across that one before 🤓 Is it another thing I should be obsessing about considering?!

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 03/10/2019 14:10

@cloudsway thankyou!

@bambiOnice80 well this is the first time I’ve had acupuncture for ivf but yes we went through where o was what o was doing and then she tailored it to the transfer and she said that it is advisable before and after if you can so I went on the morning and evening apparently the before and after as that are called are standard points for any one doing ivf! I literally only started about 2-3 weeks ago and she said most people do it that way so I’m just going on her recommendation as I have nothing else to base it on lol

2fingers22018 · 03/10/2019 14:38

Soo much to catch up on lol @CloudsSway soo happy theyv given you sum gd news! @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF fx it was fate and embryo no3 was meant to b x @GreyC when do u test? @Bambionice80 the eggs had me lmao id personally pay the extra £400 (was it u said?) @VenusStarr the waiting is beyond annoying like u said we re lucky we have the nhs but the waiting times are def gettin worse! @squirrelnutkins1 hope ur okay💜

2fingers22018 · 03/10/2019 14:41

@BambiOnIce80 my injections are goin k thanks i have my day7 scan 2morro hopefully its gd news!

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 03/10/2019 14:43

@2fingers22018 I think after all the disappointment of the other two and then how long it to do the transfer think we deserve a bit of luck on our side!
How are you getting on with the injections? Feeling bloated yet? X

2fingers22018 · 03/10/2019 14:58

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF i wasnt feeling too bad until today lol now i feel bloated n cant stop eating dnt know if its the hormones or the fact its cold here(always makes me eat like a pig😂) i just hope its gd news 2morro i got my bloods done yest and i didnt need to up my dose so i dnt want to jinx myself but fx it goes smoothly. Yh i hope ur luck turns around x

CloudSway · 03/10/2019 15:51

@2fingers22018 thanks lovely, wahay any excuse to eat whatever you like! Lol that's how I would see it anyway, good luck with the scan, bring on the next bit 👍😁

@bambionice80 ha! You crack me up 🤣 hope thats the intention, otherwise this could be awkward... don't obsess, MACS is when they use some sort of magnet thing to pick out the sperm that doesnt have crap dna, as that's the main prob we have (along with motility, mobility and concentration 🙄). It might even come as standard in other places but don't think they need to do it usually, but my clinic of course charge more for it. It does mean we are hopefully going to get the few good sperm we need, whereas normal ivf will be very unlikely to succeed cos if one of the DNA damaged sperm gets in it will likely end in miscarriage. You're the first time someone's explained the downside of icsi (outside of moral issues) so that's interesting! But doesn't put me off in my case, and as an outsider I'd prob go for it in your situation too. Have you decided?! You have some time though

2fingers22018 · 03/10/2019 15:56

@CloudsSway thanks. I ll look like a beached whale soon tho haha

GreyC · 03/10/2019 18:29

My test day is 10th October
I l get cramping on and off but I think it’s probably the drugs! I have a good feeling but that’s my positive mindset 🙏💕

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 03/10/2019 19:23

Not sure how I feel have some brown spotting already Confused this is earlier then the 1st fet feel crampy but I did last time we are obviously scared after what happed! I am already on more progesterone then when I started my fet last time!!

GreyC · 03/10/2019 20:28

It’s hard. Always two conflicting mindsets in my mind. One minute I’m all yes positive; next I’m all wait; are those period cramps?!
I’m not testing untill the day as I can’t bear it. I’m getting twinges now but it’s always around this time as I usual don’t feel much at work as I teach and always busy

GreyC · 03/10/2019 20:29

Could you call them tomorrow if it continues? It could be implantation? I’m not sure when it happens after our treatment after transfer
