@KittyKatSmile it is like the handmaid’s tale with all the restrictions on everyday life right now. I’m fully in support of it but wow has it came at a bad time. All of Noah’s check ups for the foreseeable have been cancelled and even his health visitor can’t come out now. Probably like most of us, I desperately feel like I need some reassurance right now from healthcare professionals but understandably it’s just not available. Even weigh ins have been cancelled here. Noah is predominately taking breast milk now but I’m still topping up with formula on occasion. I’m pumping round the clock to try and up my supply which is stressful in itself as there’s no longish stretch of sleep once he’s settled and everything.
I had a really bad day yesterday and I’m having thoughts that I’m just not doing as good as a job as I wanted to. Sometimes I find it hard to settle Noah and burp him 😭. He’s generally I think an easy baby too. I’m finding my anxiety levels are so high right now and that just as I start to calm down someone then calls me or texts and puts further anxiety in my mind about the virus etc.

Zest11 · 26/03/2020 09:37

Hi all, I hope you're doing okay and keeping safe.

@Cauliflower82 I hope you are feeling better. I hope you are getting used to the bf but really it's fine to give your baby formula too if it means you feel better. Pumping round the clock does not sound fun! I know there is lots of pressure on that breast is best but both or just formula is fine too!

@mrbay well done on the weight loss, that's great!
I'm feeling the weight of my tummy now. For so long I wondered when I was going to have a proper bump and the last 3 weeks or so it's just appeared. I don't think my body can cope with the pace of change!!Grin I'm trying to embrace not being at work as I can just rest all day if needed and I'm not getting up and down all day which has done wonders for my back. It is quite boring though!

KittyKatSmile · 26/03/2020 18:35

Hi ladies
How are we all? I'm going slightly stir crazy although am loving Joe Wicks' PE!

I'm still on BF boot camp. I could probably stop now but given the lockdown I can't get Miss Nancy weighed so I don't know if she's now putting on weight. That said, she is growing out of her first lot of babygros so it's probably all good. We are all happy though and getting through these difficult times.

I literally have nothing to say as I do nothing...!

Lots of love: send updates!
xx

@KittyKatSmile I love your update...literally have nothing to say as I do nothing. The same goes here!

I just re read my last post and meant to leave a gap after congratulating mrbay on her weight loss. Is it too early to blame things on baby brain yet? Hmm Trying to think what else we have been doing...sitting out in the garden, painting the nursery...yup, nothing to update I'm afraid! Xx

Cauliflower82 · 29/03/2020 11:50

Hi everyone, how are people getting on? We’re doing okay but, like everyone, we are so desperate for the world to overcome this quickly. Noah has been sick twice this morning which has me very stressed as there’s no healthcare people to talk to. He’s never really been sick before. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

KittyKatSmile · 29/03/2020 12:48

@Cauliflower82 how much sick has he done? Nancy sometimes pukes up if she's guzzled her milk too quickly. It freaked me out the first few times but I'm chilled now. Ha.

Try not to panic. Make sure he's getting enough fluids. Keep an eye on his nappies. Not sure if they can also have water at this stage?

Any news at all from anyone?! I'm knitting a lot (like 2 rows a day since I'm generally shackled by my boobs somewhere...!)

Morning guys. I missed loads of posts as I didn't get any notifications!

@AliciaWhiskers I'm sorry you aren't transferring and I hope you're keeping safe at work. Hopefully this will soon be over and life can resume for you.

@KittyKatSmile I'm in awe of your breast boot camp. I'm feeling like a failure myself. After 1.5 weeks of being at home Georgie had dropped 11% of birth weight and we got sent to hospital. I had been breast feeding, nappies had been plentiful. She was exhausting though as she would sleep all day then feed 7 solid hours in the night without being put down. Hospital thought my supply was slow coming in following losing so much blood at birth. They suggested I breast feed and then pump too to top her up and top up with formula if needed. When I got home though I had lost my confidence with breast feeding. I pumped and we started feeding her pumped with formula and slowly went to full formula and I let my milk dry up which took like 2 days so can't have been much there! But now I feel so guilty. I was weak and should have done more like you @KittyKatSmile 😞 she's gaining so much weight and so much happier but I still think I should have tried harder.

We haven't been out since Georgie was born. We go for walks and my OH goes food shopping once a week but that's it. I daren't even food shop!

I'm still a stone off my pre preg weight but my tummy has shrunk much faster than I imagined. It's like jelly now though! I need to exercise and lose two stone at least.

My stitches are starting to feel much better. Although now I think I may have small piles 😫

My OH finished his paternity leave yesterday but he's working from home so still around.

@Cauliflower82 Georgie is sick loads now formula fed. Like after most feeds and I find it dribbling down her face randomly too! How is Noah now?

KittyKatSmile · 01/04/2020 17:45

@Ginandtonic31 so pleased to hear from you. Breast feeding boot camp has been tough so don't feel bad for not putting yourself through it. Nancy also got close to the 10% cut off at around 9.6%. We have now not gone to any of the health visitor clinics for a weigh in so I don't really know if she's now putting on weight although she's growing out of some of her first size clothes so that seems positive. I am going to start weighing her by getting on the scales myself (oh lord) and then holding the baby!! I have been avoiding the scales until now really!!

That is actually great that your OH is around. Really helpful if you need the reset button at some time. I am so grateful to have my mum locked down with me. I wouldn't be able to do this without her...

Hoping everyone else is well xx

OP posts:
Ginandtonic31 · 01/04/2020 17:51

@KittyKatSmile I've done that with the scales too to see. I thought it was inaccurate as she had out on so much but the HV confirmed it was correct!

I miss my mum so much. 😞I really want her help and support. And she's desperate to be with her first grand child. I'm so glad you've got your mum with you.

Georgie is being hard work today. She has trapped wind and I just can't bring it all up. She's trumping away too. I'm going for a walk to the chemist to get infacol so I hope it works. I'm just too scared to go in case she screams the whole walk!

KittyKatSmile · 01/04/2020 22:27

@Ginandtonic31 how did the walk go? Do you have a sling? When I have Nuclear Nancy on my hands I bung her in the sling and walk around and it pretty much always calms her down. Maybe worth a try?

I'm hoping the scales will give me good news. Am going to do it tomorrow when Miss N will be a month old! Can't believe it!

OP posts:
Ginandtonic31 · 02/04/2020 00:05

@KittyKatSmile she was as good as gold in the pram! Got her infacol so hoping it makes a difference!

A month already!' Does she look older? Georgie is getting so big and chubby😫

Just trying to settle her to sleep. I'm so tired.

Mrbay · 02/04/2020 08:01

Morning guys!

Sorry as you can imagine corona has doubled my workload - cannot complain tho as others are not so lucky.

The only baby tip I have is if they are a little colicy or restless, lay them front down on your arm, gently swing them from side to side and rub their back - my dad showed me this and babies always settle with him. To be fair, he just has a magic touch! Throughout my life, he's always been given to the unsettled babies to get them to sleep!

Thanks guys for the congrats on the weight loss, but I fear it's creeping back on! I've decided to take up skipping as I can do that in the garden or in front of the telly.

Regarding weighing your babies, can you weigh yourself and then reweigh whilst holding the baby?

The only downside to lockdown, is DH has been stood down until further notice and we're starting to get a little under each other's feet - he does not understand the kitchen triangle!!

Mrbay · 02/04/2020 08:02

Oh and IVF is hold for the foreseeable - not sure if I've said that previously. So glad that I got given the pill!

Welshpugmomma · 05/04/2020 22:14

Hi ladies so sorry I feel like Ive been an awful friend, I didn't get any notifications presumed everyone been a bit busier than usual and only just got chance to take a look last night!

@AliciaWhiskers that's a brave decision but I think only u know what's best and to delay a little while is probably best in these times, I hope you are keeping safe at work xx

@mrbay good to hear from you, glad you've managed to get back on the pill hopefully keep everything in check for now! Again good luck on the work front, and well-done on the dieting! You'd only be norm putting some on during the Rona ... Or least that's what all the ladies in my fam go by ;)

@cauliflower82 hope you are settling into things now, it's only normal to struggle we're first timers - go easy girl! Being a pumper is no fun, seems like overtime! I'm trying to pump are a feed one session in the morning so that I have enough for a feed that night, ideally would like to create a bit of a stash in the freezer but it's hard fitting pump in with the feeds too...

@KittyKatSmile hope you and Nancy are doing well :) sounds like you are bossing life as mummy! I had to invest in scales too to do the whole weigh in for Josiah - he's fine and gaining well I just need to ring the weight in to paediatricians on Monday... Good work on the bootcamp ;) I never thought it would be easy but I don't think I was prepared for the planning haha I'm hoping we'll become a bit more synced when it comes to what time we feed! I'm so jel of your mum being around... My mum and friends flights got cancelled which hurt so bad :( I feel like mentally I'm just counting down til I can come back and visit the fam but especially mum, what would we do without the joys of technology thankfully we manage to vid most days...

@ginandtonic31 I do sure hope you're managing to fit a few legit gins in these days ;) hope you have got some rest that feeding sounds exhausting in itself, how's it progressing ? Josiah suffers from has really bad too the hiccups really bother him, I got some drops and they seem to be helping ... My mum's the same so desperate to meet our little boy it's pretty heartbreaking :( just have to think it's out of our control but boy do I wish we weren't here :(

@Zest11 hope pregnancy is progressing well, any downsides? Are you staying in a lot more I know they said about isolating for longer if pregnant? How many weeks are you now?

So Josiah turns 4 weeks today he's now 11lb, i finally feel somewhat normal able to do most things but try not to push it as sometimes I'm still sore in the evenings, can't wait to get back to some sort of exercise which I never thought I'd be in a hurry to say-I'm not enjoying the lack of core strength and my back has been so achey! I have a stone to go, but I'm surprised how quick it's come off I put on 43lb in the end!

I'm really sorry I've been awol, if any of you ever need to get something off your chest I'm always about spesh with the time zone difference and those late night feeds ! You can always drop me a message :)

Zest11 · 11/04/2020 09:48

Hi everyone, I hope everyone is staying safe and doing okay. I hope the weather is at least adding some positivity to these times.

@Mrbay has, I know what you mean about kitchen territory with your DH. I've been booted out of ours as I make too much mess apparently!! I guess work is keeping you busy as well and it must be nice to spend some extended time with hubby.

@Welshpugmomma so pleased to read your update. I am glad things are going okay for you. I do really feel for you and others who can't see their families at this precious time. Well done on losing all but a stone, that must be so reassuring. I've put on loads (too embarrassed to say how much!) already and am only 28 weeks :( And that's not counting the weight that creeped on during IVF down reg, stimming etc.
Yes I'm barely going out as we were told we we were more vulnerable. Just a walk sometimes but I get out of breath at the end of that now! I'm really surprised at my lack of fitness. It's actually really good not being at work whilst pregnant...I can nap when I want, I'm not exhausted, back ache's gone etc, all must have been made worse by work.

I hope everyone else is okay @Ginandtonic31
@Cauliflower82 @KittyKatSmile I would love to hear on any updates you may have. If anyone has any suggestions on where I can order a few newborn clothes let me know. I need a nice 'coming home outfit'. I love Next but they've shut their warehouse and online orders.

With the time off work we have slowly been putting together our nursery which is exciting. My husband has even started to have dreams about when the baby is born now. Grin

Mrbay · 11/04/2020 10:51

Iso bod is in full swing, I don't dare stand on the scales!

Today I'm feeling pretty low so I'm hiding away from everyone, which is pretty easy!!

Joules have a lovely baby range, I really wanted the Peter rabbit baby grow.

Ginandtonic31 · 11/04/2020 10:56

Morning!

@Zest11 glad the time off is helping you! I'm struggling now to get 0-3 babygrows with next shut and places like George sold out of any nice ones! Had to order a pack of naff ones but I figure it doesn't matter just for the house! Have a look at Berry and Blossom for nice going home clothes. That's where I got the pompom hat although now the weather is better she hasn't worn it much!

My little madam is growing fast! I can't believe how chunky she now is (over 10lb at a month). I've struggled with her a bit as I think she's got reflux and a lot of wind so she's always pushing and grunting and it worries me! I've changed her milk to an anti reflux one but I don't know if that's the right thing or not. It's hard being a mum and making decisions as you just want them happy!

Would love to see the nursery @Zest11! Ours isn't 100% finished as I need some bits for the walls and a shelf etc. But here it is so far.

How is everyone else?

Zest11 · 11/04/2020 17:21

@Mrbay Aww I hope you feel better tomorrow. You are so so strong though and you have been so grounded throughout this. I'm also developing an iso body, not good!

@Ginandtonic31 I love your nursery. Yours in the same colour scheme as ours...grey/white. Where did you get the star changing mat from? I will upload some photos when we have done more. We have painted it and assembled the furniture so need to buy some shelves, decorations etc first. I wish I could browse around the shops for those kind of things!

Wow, she is growing into a big girl! I can't comment on advice or anything about the reflux as I have no idea but I can only imagine every decision being a difficult one! I don't know why swapping milk could be bad though! Smile

Oh yes that berry and blossom site is lovely. I've just seen a cute little outfit on there...can a baby wear knitwear if he will be born in June/July? Or will it be too warm? I know what you mean about the George stuff! There are some good finds there but also some of it looked a bit naff in our delivery. But like you say...there's stuff that's fine for just being at home and it is very affordable.

Ginandtonic31 · 11/04/2020 19:30

@Zest11 I got Georgie a knitwear set and tbh she wore it for 20 mins as we travelled home and that was it 😂 so I think you would be fine. Especially if it's evening time. I miss Next though.

I think I got it from Direct4Babh. It's a CuddleCo one.. My only comment is it's a fabric cover and she has a habit of weeing mid change. I got sick of washing it constantly. So I keep a towel on it now. So plastic might be better.

Ginandtonic31 · 11/04/2020 19:30

Didn't mean to upload that photo! Can I take it down as I don't want her all over the internet really 😞

KittyKatSmile · 11/04/2020 20:33

@Zest11 I've also got a grey star changing mat; mine was from John Lewis. The nursery is too much of a mess to send a photo though as my mum has designated it as the quarantine room (any gifts or post have to go in there for 48 hours before I can open them!!)

I am laughing at your baby weight updates. After a while of Nancy not putting on weight, breast feeding boot camp has started working and she's now.... drumroll... 8.5lbs!!! Which we were super pleased about. And then I saw how much your babies weigh!! And Miss Nancy is the oldest!!

@Zest11 @Ginandtonic31 try Tu for clothes. Some of my favourites are from there and I've just ordered a few more things for her today. I've decided I really don't like her in pink and blue and turquoise really suit her a lot more. Also: she doesn't have a weather appropriate wardrobe! The weather is so warm! Guernsey today was 25deg!

Sending much iso love ladies xx

OP posts:
Welshpugmomma · 13/04/2020 11:01

Excited to hear about nursery updates @zest11 perfect timing for this story of project! After you doing homeschooling, or is this you done? Hats off the ladies who worked through pregnancy, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time off even if I did become a couch potato!

@Ginandtonic31 hope Georgie got on ok with the new formula, there are so many different ones on the market it seems like such a minefield! Still struggling with the has here he just guzzles so quickly I think it's causing problems! Nursery looks lovely too!

@KittyKatSmile
Yay miss Nancy for gaining weight, it wouldn't be any fun now if they were all the same would it lol, do you have vaccines appt coming up? We have ours on the 1st not looking forward to it..m but it does mean we get to use the pushchair again woop woop!

@mrbay hope your feeling a little better? Iso times = too much thinking time...take care Hun

I feel sorry for Josiah and his lack of wardrobe , I had it all planned that a serious amount of shopping would take place once he entered the world ;) he only fit into his NB clothes for about a week, and now all this madness he's had to stick with what we got! Managed a couple onesies online and I did buy a couple more from target but otherwise it's very limited and bit lacklustre. i can't imagine him minding one bit tbh! Think were ok for 0-3 now but very few 3-6 outfits and I suspect it won't be too long till we're sizing up 🙈 lol !

Hope you're all looking after yourself, love the iso post room you have going on kitty, sounds extra safe!

Zest11 · 13/04/2020 12:15

@Ginandtonic31 Haha 20mins wear! I guess actually as the baby won't know whether it's night or day he can always wear it when it's cooler. Thanks for the tip about the changing mat...I didn't even realise non plastic ones exist. I'm definitely going for plastic as I am lazy with washing. I keep meaning to ask...I think you were the only one that wasn't induced...when did baby arrive in comparison to your DD? Early or late? I am wondering if I am even going to be induced now as nothing's been said for a while and the hospitals have probably far more important things to worry about!

@KittyKatSmile I love the idea of the quarantine room, so good although ironic that it is the nursery! Oh yes I forgot about Sainsbury's clothes, they have some good stuff and affordable too, thank you!

@welshpugmomma Hehe I'm sure he doesn't mind at all about his wardrobe. He seems to be racing through his clothes though!! Smile Although buying and choosing clothes is all part of the fun, for us anyway! We have decided that our son is going to be a zoologist as I am going to make him wear animal clothes! Regarding schoolwork all we are expected to do at the moment is put work on the system so the kids can access it and then if they email us with it we can mark it. Not many of them are actually doing that though so I'm joining the couch potato club Grin. I'm sure as the lockdown continues we will be expected to do more and try and enforce things but for now, I'm enjoying relaxing.

Ginandtonic31 · 13/04/2020 14:28

@Zest11 I've also seen today some lovely clothes on La Redoute for babies with money off at the moment. I'm ordering some rompers now the weather is nicer.

My IVF due date was 13th March and my NHS date from first scan was 11th March. I went into labour spontaneously on 10th March so very close! I'm not sure if I posted my birth story but I went to bed on the 9th after putting clean sheets on and at 4.20am on the 10th I woke up and thought that feels odd and moved and water started leaking. I shouted my OH to fetch a towel and I wedges it between my legs and let go in the bathroom and it GUSHED and wouldn't stop. It just kept going 😂by 11am I was in hospital at 8cm!

Zest11 · 13/04/2020 21:57

@Ginandtonic31 Thank you. I had a look too and there's some really lovely things there and a sale too...perfect! I did think with this lockdown I would save so much money by not going out for lunch, for coffee and cake etc but the spending has just shifted online! Grin I don't think you did describe your birth story other than the end bit. That's great that you were so close to your DD and it seems the first phase was quite quick. :) I love hearing of peoples' experiences. I don't think anyone's on here has been the same! I think I will have some kind of intervention whether that's a C-section or other assisted delivery for the sole reason that at every scan we have always had to go back due to bad positioning so I doubt he will be in the right place for birth! All of your stories reassure me.
