New March/April IVF thread.

I'm Alice, 34, TTC1 for 3 years 4 months. Currently 4 days into a short ivf protocol with max dose of stims as my AMH ran away last year. Its my only NHS funded cycle and my last chance to have a child that's genetically mine. /fingers crossed/

Hi all-the clear blue digital told me I’m not pregnant this morning (two days ago it said I was) and a few hours later I have had some fresh blood. Think I’m having a chemical. This is all so tough isn’t it!

Hope everyone is ok.

Pleaseletitbeme · 13/06/2019 13:19

Oh Mouse.
Thinking of you xxx

Hopingforbabyd · 13/06/2019 14:48

@mouse1234567 bless you sweetie, what day past transfer are you? It could be a little early yet to know for certain. Are you FET this time round? X

Hopingforbabyd · 17/06/2019 12:23

Hey ladies. Just checking in to see how everyone is doing x

Pleaseletitbeme · 17/06/2019 12:33

Hi Hoping. How are you?
My update.
I’m still bleeding a week after my d+c and my GP has put me on antibiotics.
I have an appointment with the fertility clinic tomorrow to make a plan for the next round.
That’s the only thing keeping me going right now.

Hopingforbabyd · 17/06/2019 18:16

@Pleaseletitbeme so pleased to hear you have an appointment tomorrow, I hope you get the answers you need and a new plan to start away again when you’re ready. Are you doing a frozen cycle next time?
I’m doing okay lovely, I’ve just started af so ringing the clinic in the morning to tell them so we can begin next cycle 😊 I’ll start taking norethisterone on cd21 and then when period starts a week later I’ll be starting the new protocol for stims. We were only told it’ll be a bit more of an aggressive round as it seemed the egg quality wasn’t quite where they wanted it to be with the results on day 3 & 5 so hopefully this time round things will change. I can’t believe how quickly it’s come round tbh, this time feels different. I’m looking forward to getting started again but feel a bit like, meh... if that makes sense? I hope when we’re in the swing of it again I’ll feel a lot happier x

Hopingforbabyd · 17/06/2019 18:17

Also, really sucks to hear you’re still bleeding but hoping those antibiotics help you in some way x

Pleaseletitbeme · 17/06/2019 19:27

That’s great news hoping!
Oh I wish you well.
Xxx

Hopingforbabyd · 17/06/2019 22:50

Thanks @Pleaseletitbeme let me know how you get on tomorrow will be thinking of you x

phreedam · 18/06/2019 14:06

@Hopingforbabyd glad you're on your next cycle now- at least you know what to expect now and can manage more easily :)

We have had our nurse planning at our current clinic so we are all set but obviously stalling the next month because of a potential visit from the in laws. Also instead of wasting time not knowing whether they are coming or not we have decided to go for an initial consultation at the ARGC in London. Wasn't an easy decision and I still feel very apprehensive about it because it's meant to be a very intense process. Hubby has in other words bullied me into going because it's probably financially worth going somewhere once where the success rates are so high vs. Doing a few cycles at our current clinic.

I'm completely lost and feel very uneasy about it but might get a better feel for the place after Friday.

Russkispy · 18/06/2019 16:01

just heard from our hospital that our transferred embryo didn’t have any abnormalities! We will get full report in the next couple of days but the good news is that it didn’t have any chromosomal abnormalities! Of course my main question is why miscarriage happened? And last year too! We've been considering DE. And Naturally I’m worried if I’ll miscarry with donor egg?! And now I’m thinking shall we try IVF with my own eggs again? Have a bigger dose from the start? And try different meds?! And somehow support my system against miscarriages?! I’m now more confused than ever! And upset as my own embryo was ok and yet I miscarried. What would you do?! I contacted my doc and yet to hear from her.

mouse1234567 · 18/06/2019 18:50

@phreedam have you considered CRGh-I’m having treatment through ULCH who have an agreement with CRGH -they do the EC and ET and all the phone calls about meds each day for me. I think they are great and I think there success rates are as good as ARGC per transfer. Have a look into it -I like them.

mouse1234567 · 18/06/2019 18:52

@Pleaseletitbeme thank you -we are doing a frozen transfer. Still showing positives -haven’t done another blood test. Had a little more spotting. Just want the days to hurry up!

@Hopingforbabyd I can’t believe how quick it has come round for you-wishing you all the best!

Hopingforbabyd · 20/06/2019 19:53

@mouse1234567 how are you getting on? X

Does anyone know or have heard of Gonadotropin? I’ve had a letter today saying I’ll be given 3 ampoules of this on next cycle and just wondered if this is the term used for stims or if this is the name of it? X

mouse1234567 · 22/06/2019 12:12

Hi @Hopingforbabyd I think gonodotropin is a stimm-but never had it so not sure. Where are you at with your new cycle?

I went to the early preg unit at 4w5 and had an hcg blood test. Unfortunately my levels have only raised from 76 to 159 in 6 days. I have to go for repeat bloods on Monday -which is also my bday! But I am preparing for a miscarriage (hoping not ectopic) as things progressing way too slowly.not sure how it will play out or what to expect. Still injecting all my progesterone -which is a cruel reminder! Can’t wait to be able to stop it and get this all sorted.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

AliceAbsolum · 22/06/2019 18:32

Checking in again. Feels like a lot of us are gearing up for a 2nd go.
Mouse I'm hoping things improve for you, you're not out til you're out 🙏

In a months time I'll be on a plane to Brno and 3 days after that it'll be my donors egg collection. Very glad I don't have to go through all that. I do have a regime of drugs but it doesn't seem too intensive. ET is the biggest procedure really and that's about 3mins.
We've booked our flights and apartment and I'm treating it like a holiday.
Absolutely totally excited about 20 year old eggs and 2 blasts guaranteed. The clinic said most people have 2 to freeze so I know my chances of getting pregnant in 2019 are really high. Holding into that.

Hopingforbabyd · 22/06/2019 18:58

@mouse1234567 I’m about to start norethisterone on 7th July then when period arrives a week later I’ll start stims again. I’m getting quite excited now to be able go go again but not as much as last time which is a little disheartening. Though I think it’s probably because I’m not getting my hopes up. Really sorry to hear about what’s going on it must be so difficult for you. Hope you and hubby are being strong together x

@aliceabsolum wow! That has come round very quickly and it must feel so nice knowing you’re going there to go get your babies! Sending you lots of positive vibes! Have you an idea of when ET is? The women who donate there eggs don’t realise how truly amazing they are. You’re all amazing! We’re very lucky to have all of these options available to us and I wish you the best of luck x

mouse1234567 · 23/06/2019 11:02

@AliceAbsolum great news it is all so imminent. Good luck with it all. Good idea thinking of it as a hol-i have heard Brno is a lovely city.

@Hopingforbabyd yes I can imagine the second time round there is some excited but also reservation -but maybe that’s not w bad thing. Sending you the most luck for it. DH is being real thanks and really looking after me.

I know its to be expected -but am struggling this weekend -those of you that have been through it and got to the other side -any tips? How long till you felt more positive?? Did you do anything that helped? Or is it just time? Hard not to let my mind run away and start panicking about everything?!

WorriedButterfly · 23/06/2019 22:11

@mouse1234567 afraid I can't make it better for you, but time will help. I wasn't in quite the same situation - I had a MMC at 9wks a month ago. All I can say is about my experience - there's been a lot of hurt, frustration and anger but most of the time now it is ok. I don't feel positive for the next round or future yet, unlike my DH but hoping I will in time. I think getting things sorted physically was a big hurdle as I felt a tiny bit back in control. I'm keeping everything crossed for you that you turn a corner and it works out for you.

I went to a baby shower today and another girl had the same due date I would have had, this is such a cruel & hard situation- but it will work out for us all. I have such respect for all you ladies. X

Pleaseletitbeme · 26/06/2019 19:46

Hi everyone.
Great reading our group catch ups.
We will get there. We will.
Im 17 days post d+c. My infection has gone and I’m feeling much more settled.
I hopefully have an operation on my eye on Friday and then a heart scan in July to
Check out the murmur detected at D+C.
Feel a bit in limbo but do feel very positive. I’m an optimistic pessimist. Hahaha.
My other half has had a hernia op so just as I’m feeling very randy, that’s the last thing on his mind. We’ve only been intimate once in 3 months and I’ve kinda missed that.
Oh well. Enough rambling from me!!! Hahaha
Keep posting guys. You keep me going. Xxx

phreedam · 27/06/2019 09:58

Hi all, sorry I haven't been keeping up with you guys- so we went to ARGC last week and omg it was SO old school- well we only saw the doctors office and reception but it really was havoc In there compared to my current clinic. It was glamorous being on Harley Street and all that but the consultant literarily gave us a sales pitch through the whole thing. He then said I needed to have a hysteroscopy when I first start my cycle (apparently this is standard with them), also he advised to have immune testing which only really solves problems with people who have recurrent miscarriages but I haven't even got to transfer before- I really was put off by all of this! To top it all off he estimated our treatment could be anywhere between £££8-20k WOWZA!

Anyway- a completely surprise, I started my period on Tuesday which is 10 whole days early! So we had to make a split second decision and chose to do the 2nd cycle with our current clinic since we were all lined up for it, just a matter of getting the meds. So I'm back in the game! Hopefully we will haven't egg collection etc out of the way before my in-laws potentially arrive :| :|
1st injections this evening, omg its all starting again! wish you all luck and pray for me please!

@mouse1234567 I've got low AMH issues so I think we will probably go to Lister as they have consultants that specialize in this.

@Hopingforbabyd you haven't got long now until you start down regging I guess?

@Pleaseletitbeme so glad you're getting everything back I check, just a few things left and then you can hopefully go for another round too! I know what you mean on our first round OH was so cautious and wouldn't do anything with me 'like that' lol! It felt like for ever- but we have been making up for it HAHA

mouse1234567 · 27/06/2019 12:50

@phreedam glad you have decided on your next cycle -that must make you feel more settled and positive. Lister also sounds sensible if they specialise.

After being told my preg was non viable on Monday and stopping meds I started bleeding this morn. I am sad but also relieved -I was worried a natural miscarriage could go on weeks. I’m bleeding heavily but not much pain yet. I’m hoping once this is over I can move on and be positive about the next cycle. Repeat bloods tomorrow -so hopefully HCg dropping swiftly.

Hope everyone is ok-lovely we can support each other in our next rounds. Though I feel mine may be a way off. We are lucky to have another final NHs but follow date hasn’t been given yet.

Hopingforbabyd · 30/06/2019 17:37

Hi ladies! Sorry I’ve been a little absent. I’ve been away for a few days to a lodge and have taken full advantage of lots of gin and hot tub dippin! Absolutely loved the break away with the family, hubby and my gorgeous pooch! Hoping you’re all doing okay!

@Pleaseletitbeme I’m hoping your op and the scan all goes according to plan! Have you been given a date to start again or are you just taking it as it comes at the minute with all the other bits going on?

@mouse1234567 I’m so sorry to hear it didn’t turn out for you this time around and I’m hoping in the days which followed you weren’t in too much pain physically although mentally I know that couldn’t of been easy.

@phreedam WOWZA indeed!! Get you!! So happy you’re on the go again! How are you getting on? Have they changed your protocol? I start my next cycle on 7th July with norethisterone. It’s like the pill but I only take it for 5 days, it forces my period to come 3 days after I stop taking it to completely strip my lining down. Then I’ll be starting stims again I’d say about 15th July if my calculations are correct. We have our consent signing app on 9th July and I’ll be given my meds then, I know this round is going to be more aggressive and it’s come around so quickly!

Sending you all lots of love, as always x

phreedam · 01/07/2019 15:44

@Hopingforbabyd
yes they've increased my meds, im now on 225 Gonal-f and 225 Menopur with 150 mg clomid everyday

I had to stop the clomid over the weekend though because I got visual disturbances- that was super scary!!! it was like the light was constantly flickering and I could see waves in my peripheral vision EEK! I thought it was going to be permanent I was so scared. I think its because on such a high dose of everything and I've never had clomid at this dose before.

Looking more positive tho this round... I only had one follicle growing at this point on my last cycle but now we are starting off with 5!!! I'm super hopeful that we will have a better chance this time around.

You will be starting next week then am I right? YAY we are cycling again together :)

@mouse1234567 how did your bloods go? I really hope everything gets wrapped up for you quickly so you can plan your next move :) you have been so brave xxxx
