Hi ladies
I’m hoping to find a cycle buddy or anyone who has been through IVF before. We are due to have our appointment for our plan at the end of next week and I just wanted to hear any stories/advice anyone may have as my mind is very busy with questions.
A little background from me, I’m 28 and been trying to conceive for 3 years now. Last year I was diagnosed with severe endometriosis which sadly affected both of my tubes. I’ve had them removed in November and all endo has been removed. We have been told the chances of conception are against us due to the severity of my condition but I’m holding onto hope. Are there any ladies who have similar stories who can give me a little encouragement? I’m quite nervous to start IVF but excited at the idea this could be our chance!
Thanks 😊💛 xx

Also ladies anyone who is suffering with spot outbreaks a little tip to help...
When I was down reg for endo it was for ivf lead up to suppress ovulation and treat endo I was on an injection called prostap which is the same as zoladex and lupron, it gave me an awful outburst of acne. I’ve never suffered with bad skin and it looked awful it was all over my forehead neck and chest. I used St Ives apricot scrub morning and evening then put sudocrem on on a night time and it worked wonders! X

@Hopingforbabyd thank you for asking. The tww was the hardest part of it for me. Sadly it wasn't to be for us this time as I started bleeding 2 days before test day and test was negative. Going to take stock and see where we go from here. It's such a hard journey. I wish you all the luck in the world and will be keeping a watch for updates xx

Hopingforbabyd · 26/03/2019 21:00

@organicapricot I’m so sorry to hear things didn’t turn out for you this time. I still hold out lots of hope for you, so keep in touch if you choose to go ahead with another cycle. We are all here for you x

Hello!

I have my 8 day scan tomorrow and I am so nervous, will it be the same as my baseline scan?

I have felt so sick from Menopur since starting last week - it will be refreshing to see if there has been any progress, I have an AMH of 3.4 so not holding out that much hope.

Wesstywoo · 27/03/2019 07:40

@WorriedButterfly good luck with your scan today - it is the same as baseline but they will count how many follicles there are and measure the size of them xx

Wesstywoo · 27/03/2019 07:42

So sorry to hear this @organicapricot xx

Thund4rcat · 27/03/2019 10:04

@organicapricot so sorry to hear this. How many cycles was this one for you?

Thund4rcat · 27/03/2019 10:05

Just had my update... 4 fertilised, aiming for 5 day transfer (Sunday). Could be Friday if they don't do so well.

Hopingforbabyd · 27/03/2019 11:25

@thund4rcat come on embabies! How are you feeling?
@worriedbutterfly I hope you’re okay, I haven’t started my treatment yet and just wondering what they do during a baseline scan, is it internal? When is the baseline scan done? X

DaisyMay25 · 27/03/2019 12:14

@organicapricot I'm sorry it didn't work this time for you, I hope you're looking after yourself

@Hopingforbabyd I've got my baseline tomorrow, it's an internal one. I believe the check that the lining is thin enough

@WorriedButterfly hope your scan went well today!

@Thund4rcat that's a good amount of fertilised ones! Fingers crossed for you!

Hopingforbabyd · 27/03/2019 12:20

Thanks @daisymay25 do they do that whilst on your period? I suffer to even use tampons while I’m on so a bit nervous if it is 🙈 x

OP posts:
DaisyMay25 · 27/03/2019 12:29

@Hopingforbabyd they can do, I guess it depends where you are in your cycle I'm in CD4 but my periods last literally a day, maybe two. Don't worry I don't use tampons either because they're uncomfortable! It doesn't hurt though just a bit of discomfort when they're angling it around looking, I've had many of them before, I'm not sure how short protocol works but I had one two weeks ago to check I'd ovulated and tomorrow to check my ovaries have been turned off.

Hopingforbabyd · 27/03/2019 12:51

Thank you for letting me know @daisymay25 😊 hoping everything goes okay for you. When are you due to start stims?

OP posts:
sl85 · 27/03/2019 12:53

@organicapricot so sorry to hear that it was unsuccessful this time. Take care of yourself xx

DaisyMay25 · 27/03/2019 13:02

@Hopingforbabyd no worries I'm sure between all of us we can answer each other's questions, hopefully anyway! Hopefully start on Friday if all is good tomorrow. Not long til your appointment now!

Wesstywoo · 27/03/2019 13:14

Baseline is to check the lining, if there are any cysts etc they were not aware of and also AFC (counting the tiny follicles before stims). And it is usually done between day 2 and 4 of AF (I was on short protocol for my fresh round) xx

Twiglet2353 · 27/03/2019 13:31

@Hopingforbabyd didn't have any baseline scan for me on the short protocol (just the pelvic ultrasound assessment when first accepted into ivf). First scan was Day 8 of stims, then had another day 10 xx

WorriedButterfly · 27/03/2019 13:40

Thank you for the well wishes @Wesstywoo, @DaisyMay25 and @Hopingforbabyd, the scan itself was fine. It isn't anything to worry about @Hopingforbabyd, you're so focused on what they're going to say you forget the scan part when you're there. I have 4 good size follicles 23, 22, 19, 20 and a 7, I am a little disheartened there aren't more but given my AMH is low they said I'd responded as well as they'd have hoped. EC brought forward to Friday! I'm so nervous! My Endo is 9.8 which they were pleased with too, I just hope they don't go anywhere before they've been collected! If anyone has any advice or success with so few Follies I'd appreciate hearing it! xx

sl85 · 27/03/2019 14:13

Treatment planning appt for me tomorrow! I know I'll be on the 4 week protocol but that's all I know at the moment! Excited to be making a start but nervous also. X

Wesstywoo · 27/03/2019 14:22

Ahh good luck with your EC @WorriedButterfly! I have low AMH too and also only had 4 follies on my fresh round, 4 eggs were collected and 2 ended up becoming top grade blastocysts xx

Hopingforbabyd · 27/03/2019 17:42

Thanks @twiglet2353 was it just the two scans you had?
@sl85 best of luck for tomorrow! It’ll start flying by now! I can’t believe ours was almost a month ago it really has gone so quickly once you know your plan.
@worriedbutterfly that’s fab for EC on Friday but I understand you’re nervous, I would be too, but just remember that’s the day your babies are going to be made and it won’t be long until they’re put back just where they belong 🥰 when you say your endo is 9.8 what does that mean? I have endo too and have little endo cysts on my ovaries, my consultant warned me there is a chance they can get them by accident whilst they do EC and that makes me so nervous x

sl85 · 27/03/2019 18:12

Thanks @Hopingforbabyd I've written a list of questions to take with me so that I'm well prepared! Tomorrow will confirm if I start the same day as you too 😊

sl85 · 27/03/2019 18:14

@WorriedButterfly all the best for the EC on friday. I know it's hard as the whole process is such a worry, but try and stay positive, from what @Wesstywoo says it's all about quality and not quantity. I have everything crossed for you 🤞🏼x
