February / March 2019 IVF / ICSI

Hi all, starting a new thread for those of us who are starting IVF treatment in February.

This will be my second round of ICSI, I start buserelin injections on 17th February. We have MFI (low sperm count) and after our first cycle ended in a chemical pregnancy, I demanded a laparoscopy because I have always had painful periods. The lap discovered I have mild endometriosis and mild adenomyosis but the surgeon said it was mild enough to not affect my fertility.

I am continuing with the NHS, doing a second fresh cycle. We have 3 frozen embryos from the first round as backup if this one doesn't work...

Would be good to have some cycle buddies to share support over the next couple of months...

Evie what dpo are you? I've been having lots of cramps on and off the last few days. I think it's generally seen as a good sign x

intrigued2018 · 02/03/2019 19:14

Congratulations @WineWinner - great news

@Ginandtonic31 - amazing numbers, I bet you are over the moon!

@Evie8010 - I'm with you Getting some cramps this evening, had a few twings all this week since ET Monday but bit stronger this evening so resting and trying not to stress. I know these symptoms can mean either way so trying not to think into it either way - this is the first day of symptom spotting! I need to stop!!! X

Twiglet2353 · 02/03/2019 19:16

@Ginandtonic31 wowzers!! Brilliant results x

@WineWinner Keeping everything crossed for you x

I'm about to take my last Norethisterone pill, so the count down is on for AF arriving and starting my Bemfola

Ginandtonic31 · 02/03/2019 20:21

Thanks ladies. I’m in disbelief as I only got 4 eggs last round and felt it more than this round!! Also in less pain this round. I’m nervous as I read a lot about the quality not being there if too many eggs so worried not many will make it to blast. I’ve been incredibly tearful today - hoping it’s hormones! So opened a bottle of red wine and had a Chinese take away. Diet tomorrow!

intrigued2018 · 02/03/2019 21:14

@Ginandtonic31 - try not to worry, with those numbers you should at least get a couple! The only day I had a proper melt down was the day after EC so probably the hormones - enjoy the wine and takeaway 😘 x

Ginandtonic31 · 02/03/2019 21:43

The only trouble is @intrigued2018 we need a few due to genetic testing 😞

Russkispy · 02/03/2019 22:15

@Ginandtonic31 out of curiosity, why are guy doing genetic testing? And which one is it? PGD? PGS? PGT-a?
My doc wants genetic testing PGT-a for chromosomal abnormality. But I'm not sure about it and don't know what to do. EC is on Wednesday and if I have embryos still going on day 5 then she wants to get them tested. Just don't k ow what to do.

Ginandtonic31 · 02/03/2019 22:34

@Russkispy it’s PGD. My husband has a gene that’s 50/50 and can develop into a disease we don’t want to pass on. So it was our only option really. We’ve never tried to get pregnant naturally as the risk is too high. It doesn’t include PGS so still chance of other issues.

WineWinner · 02/03/2019 22:34

Thanks guys! Got a positive digital tonight at 5dp5dt so just hoping for good line progression now!

Russkispy · 02/03/2019 23:07

@Ginandtonic31 thank you for replying. Think my doc wants to do it because of my age, I'll be 43 in April. And I had 1 missed miscarriage last June and a chemical one a couple of weeks ago. When I was pregnant with my DD I had a Harmony test done at 10 weeks and they all came back negative. Not sure if you heard of NIPT test, but basically they test for Down's syndrome and some others and are 99% accurate. So I'll get these done again when I fall pregnant again!
@WineWinner good to hear it. here's to a nice and smooth progression!

Meownow9 · 03/03/2019 08:26

Crossing my fingers that you get a good number of blasts, @Ginandtonic31.

That's great @WineWinner, keeping my fingers crossed for you too.

@Twiglet2353 almost there, hope you don't have too long a wait.

I'm getting restless but behaving myself and not testing early! Absolutely no symptoms to speak of, but oh well, what will be will be.

Itsme1979 · 03/03/2019 08:50

Hi all! Test day is weds for me and I'm starting to get inpatient.... May I ask what symptoms everyones had? I'm day 8 now and I've had shooting pains, cramps, constipation, wind, hot flushes, extreme tiredness and stomach feeling bloated/full but the past two days I've just had insomnia and a mad hunger. I always read an implantation bleed and nausea are signs but I've never had that. Feeling OK today apart from tiredness because I couldn't sleep last night.

Anyone had any strange symptoms and thought they weren't pregnant but actually were? I'm on lubion, progynova, cyclogest, prednisolone, tinzaparin and aspirin.. All high doses and I know these meds can play tricks on you with symptoms.

The 2ww is getting to me now... Had 2 embryos put back in, a 5bb and a 4bb last Saturday. This is my 2nd cycle and desperate for a positive.

Good luck all xxx

Ginandtonic31 · 03/03/2019 10:13

@Russkispy yes I know the tests you mean. That’s our option if we conceive naturally but with a 50/50 chance of a baby having the gene, it’s still risky! Although even if ivf is successful I will still want Down’s syndrome test etc. Sometimes I get stressed as I read we should have PGS etc but I’ve also read it rules out a lot of embryos that would be ok! I think I just need to have faith in what we are doing.

Summerloving17 · 03/03/2019 10:44

Hi ladies do you mind if I join you for a bit of a hand hold? It’s my third transfer with my last two Frosties, haven’t had any success so far with ivf, got pregnant naturally in December and miscarried st 9weeks, an ectopic from an iui 2 years ago.
Had my FET Friday and just trying my best to stay sane!! Was told to test 12 days after but I think I’ll be lucky if I hold out to 7days post transfer!!!
Congratulations already on the BFP @Winewinner!! You have encouraged me to test early although am with you on the cautious side having had my miscarriage recently.
I will read through and catch up with everyone else x

Russkispy · 04/03/2019 16:25

Had my 3rd scan today and it wasn't that straight forward. Follicles grow a bit too slow and have to carry on with stimulation and Cetrotide for 2 more days, trigger on Wednesday and egg collection on Friday morning. Trying not to think about anything really and take a day as it comes.
How's everyone else doing?

Meownow9 · 04/03/2019 17:01

@Russkispy I think you're very wise to take each day as it comes – it's so easy to jump ahead! Sometimes follies just need a bit longer – and I guess your docs aren't too worried if they've booked you in for EC xx

I'm just whiling away the days until test. Convinced it hasn't worked again as don't feel any different, but we'll see! Trying to plan in some fun things for later down the line so we've got other stuff to focus on if it goes kaput!

Russkispy · 04/03/2019 17:32

@Meownow9 well she said to be in the clinic on Friday and my DH needs to give a sample in the morning. Guess it's all going ahead. But at least I'll be there on Wednesday which is very easy to just pop in to the clinic if they need to see me prior EC
Try to stay positive!

Meownow9 · 04/03/2019 17:45

@Russkispy crossing my fingies for ya x

sweetsaltypopcorn · 04/03/2019 17:53

Good luck for Friday @Russkispy!

I've been getting horrible twinges and feel tearful for no reason, aka period symptoms. Testing on Saturday. I don't want to - I'd rather keep fooling myself that I could be pregnant, than get a BFN. Sad

Ginandtonic31 · 04/03/2019 18:18

@Russkispy how long have you been on stimms for? I ended up doing 12 days and my 3rd scan was Monday before I was booked in Friday. So don’t worry. How many follicles were there?

2.5 days until I find out how many to the freezer and test. It’s so much waiting!!

Russkispy · 04/03/2019 18:33

@Ginandtonic31 today is day 10 of stims. And the sonographer counted 15 this time! They range between 7 and 16mm. In December I only had 7 follicles and on the last scan they grew up to 16-21mm and I was only on 275 of Gonal. And I've been injecting 350 since Saturday including today. It shows me once again that our bodies are a mystery! Considering that I only had 2 follicles with IUI when trying do my DD in 2016! And again last year IUI I also had only 2 follicles and was BFP but ended in a MMC. Follicles were around 21-22mm respectively. But anyway, I understand everything seems to be different every time. Not necessarily a bad thing, I think

Ginandtonic31 · 04/03/2019 18:45

@russkispy my biggest 2 were 18mm last Monday and still by Friday had the 25 mature ones! Still time! Although time will tell on the quality of mine!

Russkispy · 04/03/2019 19:33

Thanks @Ginandtonic31 , I've just decided to sit and wait. Whatever will be. Again, it's all about quality. And hopefully yours are good ones! And mine will tell in time.

Ginandtonic31 · 05/03/2019 08:07

Thursday feels such a long wait! I’m getting anxious now the nearer it gets convincing myself the quality is bad and very few will make it.

Twiglet2353 · 05/03/2019 18:11

AF has arrived! Stims start tomorrow, and my first scan is booked in for next Wednesday, woo 🎉
