Hi all, starting a new thread for those of us who are starting IVF treatment in February.

This will be my second round of ICSI, I start buserelin injections on 17th February. We have MFI (low sperm count) and after our first cycle ended in a chemical pregnancy, I demanded a laparoscopy because I have always had painful periods. The lap discovered I have mild endometriosis and mild adenomyosis but the surgeon said it was mild enough to not affect my fertility.

I am continuing with the NHS, doing a second fresh cycle. We have 3 frozen embryos from the first round as backup if this one doesn't work...

Would be good to have some cycle buddies to share support over the next couple of months...

@AliceAbsolum set alarms on your phone! Lol

Thund4rcat · 29/03/2019 13:27

Update: 4 embryos still doing well so transfer booked for Sunday. I'm feeling positive.

@Thund4rcat that’s great new re embryos! When are you hoping to have transfer?

Just home from egg collection. Unfortunately they couldn’t reach my left ovary so no follicles from there but luckily my right was the better performer so ended up with 4 eggs. Better than the cancelled cycle they were considering but not great also. Hoping one might make it to transfer so we have a chance.

@aliceabsolum I had alarms set on my phone for ten mins before I was due to take meds to make sure I was ready on time and to remove myself from any conversations/meetings I was in at work. Husband had alarms set up too so he would text me a reminder and I confirmed back to him that I had done it afterwards. It worked well as sometimes I worried I’d forgotten to take it even though I knew I had so I’d just check back at my messages for the confirmation.

AnnaSteen · 29/03/2019 14:19

Sorry I just saw you said Sunday! That’s great - two days to go.

Did you guys end up taking much time from work? I ended up taking annual leave for today and all of next week. Didn’t want to have to deal with work on top of recovering. I have to have my transfer under sedation to as I’m a tricky case so I figured I’ll need the recovery time.

Ginandtonic31 · 29/03/2019 14:20

@AnnaSteen on my first round I only got 4 eggs and one made it to day 5. 🤞

AnnaSteen · 29/03/2019 14:44

Fingers crossed then! Trying not to overthink it until we get the phone all tomorrow.

Thanks for all your messages. Being similar to me in age and numbers in your first round and your great numbers for second have really helped keep me calm and focused on how this one might not be a runner but next one might improve has really helped me from going crazy!!!!

I hope you are doing ok on your wait for genetic testing results.

Russkispy · 29/03/2019 15:10

@Thund4rcat great news and fingers crossed for Sunday!
@AnnaSteen glad it wasn't a cancelled cycle after all! Fingers crossed there's one to transfer!

AliceAbsolum · 29/03/2019 18:32

@Thund4rcat Good news, lots of luck for Sunday.

@AnnaSteen Anything is better than a cancelled cycle right. Really hope things develop well. I'm planning to take the week off after EC, partly to recover and partly to be flexible with ET.

I'm feeling pretty angry and sad today. I googled antral follicle count. They found one on one ovary and couldn't see the other side due to the cyst. So probably less than 4. (see the image attached). That along with my AMH of 1 and endo cyst... I'm just not sure all this is worth it. So much hassle for a tiny chance.

So angry I've been on a waiting list for 3.5 years. I just want to crack on with donor eggs in Prague now. Have to accept I'll never have a child that's actually mine.

Twiglet2353 · 29/03/2019 19:03

@AnnaSteen Fingers crossed for you. How did you find the EC itself? Good plan re taking a week off. I was signed off for two weeks by the unit, I felt fine within a couple of days and luckily no OHSS, but the first week allowed for flexibility with ET like @AliceAbsolum says. This second week has dragged and I could've done with being back at work really to keep me occupied.

Update: If I was at work it would stop me from doing things such as testing early at 6dp5dt....

Don't know what to think as whilst I didn't have a hcg trigger because of my Ohss risk I had a low dose shot for luteal phase support at EC.

Anyone know if it would be out of my system by now? Told myself I wouldn't do this!!

@AliceAbsolum That is hard to read but try not to be disheartened by what we find on google. I know it's easier said than done. Even if the nurse was right and you get two eggs, that's still two shots at it. It maybe in a few months time you'd wish that you went down the donor route all along, but also you would maybe have always wondered 'what if' you hadn't exhausted this option first.
Really rooting for you over the next few weeks xx

Ginandtonic31 · 29/03/2019 22:05

Definitely hang in there @AnnaSteen! Your first round is so very similar to mine. Just keep in your mind every round can be different. But you might not need another!

Luckily we only waited a week for genetic testing and found out 11 embryos are unaffected!

AnnaSteen · 30/03/2019 08:57

Hi all, I was wondering how you’s felt after egg collection? I felt ok yesterday but today am feeling very bloated and sore - can’t twll if it’s constipation or pain from the procedure. How long did it take you to feel back to normal and any idea if bloating and pain (sore but manageable) is normal?

AnnaSteen · 30/03/2019 08:59

@GinandTonic31 that is fantastic re 11 embryos! Is your next step to schedule a FET?

Russkispy · 30/03/2019 14:03

@Ginandtonic31 that's great result! I bet you're both relieved!

Ginandtonic31 · 30/03/2019 14:15

@AnnaSteen my first round I felt sore because I was constipated. God so constipated. Like fill up to my boobs. Take some laxatives or softeners and see if it helps.

We've a couple of holidays lined up so will probably have a look at starting May time.

Twiglet2353 · 31/03/2019 09:50

How are you feeling today @AnnaSteen ?

Fantastic news re your embryos @Russkispy

Thund4rcat · 31/03/2019 12:14

@ginandtonic31 that is brilliant you have 11 unaffected embryos!

I am just back from transfer and really happy to report they put in one embryo grade 4AA which is better than my last cycle. One other one is being frozen to add to my previous three frozen ones, and the two remaining will be checked tomorrow to see if they've developed enough to freeze by then.

Feeling very positive.

@Twiglet2353 thank you! Yet to hear about GPS testing on the frozen one.
@Thund4rcat glad it went well! Try to take it easy in 2ww. And resist early testing. Fingers crossed!

AliceAbsolum · 31/03/2019 16:22

Great news people great news, keep it coming Flowers

Thund4rcat · 31/03/2019 22:56

I've been posting in the March/April thread too, so will only post there going forward to avoid duplication. Feel free to join me over there too if anybody is still going and wants to.

Russkispy · 04/04/2019 08:53

@Twiglet2353 congratulations!
AFM, booked a reassurance scan in a couple of weeks. Midwife and dating scan are through the post too. I won't be joining any antenatal or pregnancy threads and just stick with you guys as rooting for you all and still early days for me. Will keep you posted on my scans etc if you want but otherwise won't bore you with how I'm feeling on a daily basis. Suffice to say this pregnancy already feels different from my first. Anxiously waiting for my early scan after MMC and CP last and this year respectively. Scan falls a day before my 43rd birthday. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 it goes well!
And how's everyone else doing?

confused107 · 04/04/2019 13:25

@Twiglet2353 I remember you from the clomid forum. Just popped in here today for a nose as I'm waiting for my IVF appointment and I'm absolutely delighted to see your news. Massive congratulations. It's really given me hope x

Twiglet2353 · 04/04/2019 14:56

@confused107 Hi! And thank you. Tests are getting darker, just hope it's a sticky little embie on board!

Good luck with your upcoming cycle xx

Russkispy · 05/04/2019 12:06

Just been told our frozen embryo is defected, trisomy in 18, high risk of 98% confirmed by PGS test. Absolutely gutted as don't have a backup now.
And naturally concerned about the one inside me. Got our early scan on 16th and praying everything goes well. And all being well will book a Harmony test for when I'm 10 weeks. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

MrsC18 · 06/04/2019 08:59

I can see this thread isn't really active anymore but I've been avoiding the internet for the last couple of weeks so not joined another. The test today is negative as I expected. Still gutted obviously, it seems like it's not 4th time lucky for us.

Going to put us through this one more time in a few months and then call time. It's hard to believe it's meant to be. Good luck to the rest of you with your pregnancies or future cycles xxx
