February / March 2019 IVF / ICSI

Hi all, starting a new thread for those of us who are starting IVF treatment in February.

This will be my second round of ICSI, I start buserelin injections on 17th February. We have MFI (low sperm count) and after our first cycle ended in a chemical pregnancy, I demanded a laparoscopy because I have always had painful periods. The lap discovered I have mild endometriosis and mild adenomyosis but the surgeon said it was mild enough to not affect my fertility.

I am continuing with the NHS, doing a second fresh cycle. We have 3 frozen embryos from the first round as backup if this one doesn't work...

Would be good to have some cycle buddies to share support over the next couple of months...

@russkispy that's still good 🤞🙏🏻

@Thund4rcat I only did Buserelin as trigger but I kept crying!!

I need something to do to get me off google @Russkispy 😂 I keep telling myself normally people don't have PGS for IVF and are fine so why do I suddenly believe I do! It's going to be a long 2-3 weeks 😂 then I've a couple of holidays to keep me entertained.

Russkispy · 10/03/2019 14:39

@Ginandtonic31 everything will be absolutely fine! Dr Google will just mess with your head! Get crosswords out ! That will definitely kill your brain haha

sweetsaltypopcorn · 10/03/2019 14:52

@intrigued2018 I've not even been able to speak to the clinic yet as they aren't open at the weekend. Calling in the morning at the crack of 8am!
Agree with you re: 7 week scan; I'm so nervous. Did another test this morning and got a darker BFP, thank god! Tempted to do one every morning for the next few weeks!

intrigued2018 · 10/03/2019 18:31

@sweetsaltypopcorn - id be so impatient with the clinic not being open, fingers crossed for getting your scan all booked in! Fingers crossed for you the next three weeks, I'm thinking exactly the same testing regularly. I may do a bulk order from amazon so I don't look like a crazy lady in the shop. x

Russkispy · 11/03/2019 07:01

3 embryos are still growing just been told! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

sweetsaltypopcorn · 11/03/2019 08:51

Congrats @Russkispy! Come on embryos! Grin

Twiglet2353 · 11/03/2019 17:32

Wonderful news @Russkispy !

MrsC18 · 11/03/2019 18:09

Hi ladies, so I'm back on the rollercoaster from tomorrow! My period started today and all the medication arrived Friday so I'm good to go with Menopur in the morning.

Hope everyone's ok.

Russkispy · 12/03/2019 07:12

My Three little troopers are still growing, they are on Morula stage already. And 1 is ready to board mama’s train tomorrow! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻Still early days and hopefully all is well with other 2 to freeze! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

2019isouryear · 12/03/2019 19:30

Good luck for tomorrow @Russkispy

Russkispy · 13/03/2019 08:21

2 made it to blast stage. The third was developing to slowly and eventually stopped. 1 will be transferred shortly and the other will be biopsied and freeze. A bit rubbish news but still glad we've got one in the "bank"

MrsC18 · 13/03/2019 09:05

@Russkispy to get 2 blasts out of 4 fertilised embryos is amazing! I got 3 out of 9 embryos and was told that 30% is normal so well done to your embryos! Best of luck for your transfer later

Ginandtonic31 · 13/03/2019 11:18

@Russkispy that's really good. When I only had 4 eggs first round I only got one to blast. Good luck with your transfer.

Day 6 of waiting for PGD results for me and it seems to be dragging. Hard to focus at work as constantly thinking about it and how many will be okay, if they will implant etc. Today isn't terrible as I'm fairly busy with meetings but normal days it's tough going. Booked a spa day with my mum next Wednesday and the day off work so just counting down to that now. Oh I've also got my smear Wednesday morning and I'm terrified of them not getting enough cells and an inconclusive result or cells they need to investigate and delaying my transfer!

Russkispy · 13/03/2019 14:01

Thank you ladies! Both blasts are AB quality. Doc and embryologist are very happy, 1 was transferred and 1 biopsied and gone through PGS test and I'll get results next week. And it's already on "ice". Been giving lots of supplements to take to support implantation etc. Now onto 2ww Smile

Thund4rcat · 13/03/2019 14:04

Sorry for TMI but has anyone suffered diarrhoea as a side effect of Menopur and does it get better or worse over time? Had my first stim injection of Menopur last night and have bad stomach today.... Really hoping it will wear off.

Last time I was on different drugs and had no side effects but read that menopur can cause this...

Just had the midwife phone me, made it feel very real!!

She was really lovely. I'm on a county border so her first question was where did I want to go (which was great as we didn't want to go to one hospital as we had such a stressful horrid time there doing nhs fertility stuff before going private). Then we chatted through the transition from private back to nhs and she booked to come and visit me at home in a couple of weeks and gave me her mobile number in case I need her before hand. What a lovely lady!!

Just now to have my scan next Thursday and it will all feel very real 😁🤞🤞🤞

MrsC18 · 13/03/2019 14:25

Hi @Thund4rcat, now that you mention it I did have a bit of an upset tummy this morning - I just put it down to having had very spicy nachos last night (sorry!) I also started last night on 150mg. I was on Menopur last time though and don't recall having a bad tummy throughout stims so hopefully it won't last!

Twiglet2353 · 13/03/2019 15:42

@PrayingandHoping how lovely 🙂

I've just had my Day 8 of stims scan - 22 follicles, 13 of which are over 10mm. They've lowered my dose and I'm going for another scan on Friday. Plan for EC Monday 🤞

Ginandtonic31 · 13/03/2019 16:17

She much waiting!! Day 6 of waiting for PGD results (2-3 week wait so not likely to be this week). Realised today I started stimms a month ago so the whole process is so drawn out with lots of waiting.

mikkyr · 14/03/2019 13:25

Jumping on this thread. I’m waiting for my day 1 to start my next EC cycle. Had to miss last cycle as only had 2 follicles. 1st cycle we got 7 mature eggs.
For some reason this cycle is about 3 days overdue and I just don’t like starting my period on the Friday as the clinic then makes me wait till Monday for my 1st scan and I feel this is too late although they assure me it isn’t. So now it’s Thursday afternoon and still no sign of AF ... so Friday looks like my day 1 or maybe my body will old off till Saturday. Confused

Ginandtonic31 · 14/03/2019 16:22

Hi everyone, well I've just had the call about our PGD results and 11 of our frozen embryos are free of the gene! I can't believe it!! Surely one of those has to stick!!! Typically me I'm worrying as I forgot to ask what the accuracy of our test was but surely it's more accurate than trying naturally. In total with this round and last round we've had 5 affected.

MrsC18 · 14/03/2019 17:08

@Twiglet2353 you must be relieved the end is nearly in sight! Hope the next scan goes well and you get the go ahead for the trigger.

@mikkyr my period always shows up late before an IVF cycle, so annoying!

@Ginandtonic31 congrats you must be so pleased! Do you know when you'll do a FET?

@Thund4rcat my tummy is fine today, can't be the Menopur for me. How are you?

Ginandtonic31 · 14/03/2019 17:18

@mikkyr mine was meant to come Wednesday before I started and it didn't come until Friday morning! It was driving me mad! It knows.

@MrsC18 I've a couple of holidays now so I've emailed my nurse to ask if I can start drugs May or if I need to wait for an appointment etc. I can't believe it. Surely it's too good to be true and something else will go wrong (like I've got my smear Wednesday and that will probably delay it!).

Thund4rcat · 14/03/2019 17:26

@MrsC18 mine is fine today too thanks. Maybe our bodies reacted to the first dose with shock, and are now already used to it.

Afternoon all,

This is great news @ginandtonic31 you must be so delighted!!

I've just had my FET...which was definitely the wierdest thing I've ever done! Both embryos survived the thaw - each with 90% of their cells. Didn't even know this was a thing, until the embryologist told us they want frozen embryos to have over 50%...so I guess they did ok!

Both of them are now doing their thing and I keep having to remind myself they're in there....

Test day is the 25th so fingers crossed until then, eh?
