Hi all, starting a new thread for those of us who are starting IVF treatment in February.

This will be my second round of ICSI, I start buserelin injections on 17th February. We have MFI (low sperm count) and after our first cycle ended in a chemical pregnancy, I demanded a laparoscopy because I have always had painful periods. The lap discovered I have mild endometriosis and mild adenomyosis but the surgeon said it was mild enough to not affect my fertility.

I am continuing with the NHS, doing a second fresh cycle. We have 3 frozen embryos from the first round as backup if this one doesn't work...

Would be good to have some cycle buddies to share support over the next couple of months...

@russkispy yes a frozen transfer after the testing. So 2-3 weeks for results but then we’ve a holiday in April and May so I’m hoping if there’s any that aren’t affected we can start to prepare for a transfer once back in May. Ive no idea what to expect in terms of if any will be unaffected. Last round 1 made it to testing and was affected. What if ever single one just would be forever?! So a nerve wracking 3 weeks now. Always a wait isn’t there!!

Meownow9 · 07/03/2019 17:21

Sorry about your BFN @Evie8010. To answer your question we've tended to move straight into another cycle but for my FET we went on holiday first and I realised the benefits of a break. Just felt more energised to tackle it really, and take some time out. If you feel you need a break I'd go for it - good to give the meds a chance to leave your body too.

That's really an amazing number @Ginandtonic31. Fingers crossed you'll get some that aren't affected.

Hi all- i’m joining this a little late to the party!
I had my egg retrieval on Monday and they collected 8 eggs but only 3 fertilised.
I was supposed to be going back today for ET but got a call first thing saying that the 3 eggs are doing well so they will wait until Saturday.
I’m pleased about the wait as i’m still quite uncomfortable from collection so was dreading them going back in Grin
The clinic also said the eggs have been graded 1 or 2 and that was good but it seems that all clinics grade them completely differently?!?!
I’ve been quite calm up until now but now seem to be feeling a little crazy! Im terrified the eggs won’t make it and we don’t have many to bank on
Also- after having very little side effects so far- the progesterone pesaries are kindling my arse!!!
Good luck to you all- it has really helped today reading this thread xx

Evie8010 · 07/03/2019 22:30

Ah thats great @ginandtonic31 especially as you say you're in the numbers game too with the genetic testing!

Thanks @Russkipsy good to hear about taking a break im going to book a few days in Spain next month

I also got AF today just to put the boot in haha! On the plus side I had a glass of prosecco at a work do :-)

intrigued2018 · 08/03/2019 07:11

Hi all, apologies been quite for a week or so was trying to avoid the Internet during my tww. Got a BFP this morning still can't believe it!

@Russkispy - good luck with EC today. Thanks

@Northernalien - please don't go crazy with worry, we had 13 eggs collected, 5 fertilised and 2 got to blastocyst stage. I had one transferred and it's taken. The quality of the egg was a grade C, what the embryologist told me was not to worry about the grading as every clinic is different and providing it's above a grade D (whatever that means) they more or less all have an equal chance.

@Ginandtonic31 - I'm so pleased to hear your great news on the number of blastocysts!!! Amazing! Fingers crossed for the testing.

@Evie8010 and @Meownow9 - sorry to hear things didn't work out this cycle, put yourselves first for a little bit and good luck! 😘 xxx

Evie8010 · 08/03/2019 07:57

@intrigued2018 that's brilliant news congratulations!!! Am delighted for you!

Ginandtonic31 · 08/03/2019 09:06

Good luck this morning @Ruskispy!

@intrigued2018 congratulations!

Russkispy · 08/03/2019 16:00

@intrigued2018 congratulations!
@Ginandtonic31 thank you!
EC went well this morning. 10 follicles collected out 15 as the rest were too small. So far 1 follicle was empty. So have 9 in total to see how they develop in the next couple of days and ET is on Wednesday. And hopefully there will be embryos to freeze and doc wants to do genetic testing on them. We agreed. Now it's waiting time

Evie8010 · 08/03/2019 16:36

That's great @Russkipsy fingers crossed for you!

Question for experienced IVFers I was due to go for a preg test on Monday and emailed clinic but they still want me to come in and see my HCG levels is this really necessary I kind want to be left alone to be honest!!

PrayingandHoping · 08/03/2019 17:46

@Evie8010 my ivf clinic told me not to do a home test as you can get false readings both ways due to the drugs that they use

Evie8010 · 08/03/2019 22:08

Thanks but I definitely have my period so just can’t see the point of going in for a tes, I feel like it can only be a tick box exercise?

Ginandtonic31 · 09/03/2019 09:52

Great news @Russkispy let us know how you get on with today’s update. The waiting around is the worst! This morning I thought how many days left until results? Oh it’s only day 2 since we got the last ones 😂

ParksAndRecreation · 09/03/2019 11:11

Hello everyone,
Can I hop on this thread? I’ve been on a few others, and I recognise some of your names. Hope you’re all doing great.
Bit about us - we are in the middle of our first round of IVF ttc#1. I’m 41 so left it a bit late...but can’t worry about that now!
Anyway, it all went great, had EC back in October, got 11 eggs, 7 fertilised through ICSI. We were booked in for 5 day transfer and it looked like we would have at least 3 blasts.
Day before transfer, whilst on the phone to our consultant he got spooked by the fact I had a really bad cough (like REALLY bad) and suggested that we freeze everything. Long story short, we froze 3 good quality blasts, went on holiday, had Christmas and started prep for FET a few weeks ago. Buserelin made me want to kill myself (and everyone around me) but otherwise fine.
Had my last scan this week and my lining is at 9.4mm (literally no idea what it’s supposed to be) and we are booked in to do our transfer this Thursday 😬😬😬😬😬
Because I’m 95 years old, consultant recommends putting two in - so hopefully they survive the thaw and it all goes smoothly.
If anyone has any tips, old wives tales or otherwise about what I’m supposed to do leading up to it this week (I could do with losing 2 stone but I’ve left that a bit late too) and the day of transfer I’m here for it.
I’ve tried not to read too much stuff online, and whilst our consultant is brilliant the clinic give you fuck all information.
I’m assuming I take the following day off and take it easy, but then just go back to normal and 9 months later I have twins (joke - I know it probably won’t work..I’m just trying to keep things light in my heart).
Anyway - to all you ladies at different stages of hope or heartbreak, I salute you and send you love.

sweetsaltypopcorn · 09/03/2019 11:37

VERY surprise BFP this morning!
Had period pains all through the night Confused
Now googling pics of other positive pregnancy tests and getting myself all worried comparing them to mine!

Ginandtonic31 · 09/03/2019 11:52

Hi @ParksAndRecreation! I’ve never got as far as a transfer yet but hoping for s frizen one soon once my frozen embryos are PGD tested! It scares me a bit the Burserelin as that was my trigger shot lost week and after just one I was depressed and couldn’t stop crying and wanted to run away!

@sweetsaltypopcorn yay but step away from google!!

ParksAndRecreation · 09/03/2019 12:08

@ginandtonic31 not going to lie, Buserelin was horrendous. If that’s what menopause feels like then holy shit good luck to us all!!
Hopefully your PGD testing will go smoothly and you’ll be transferring before you know it!

Ginandtonic31 · 09/03/2019 12:21

@ParksandRecreation how long is the Burserelin for? I best warn my mum as I was a nightmare last week on one shot of 0.5ml!! 😂bless her she just dealt with me regardless.

ParksAndRecreation · 09/03/2019 14:45

@ginandtonic31 I had about 2 weeks of it before I started on estrogen patches. The first week was FUCK.ING. AW.FUL. Second week got a bit (teeny bit) better, but the second those patches went on it was all ok again. Had to continue on it for about a week (ish) whilst on the patches and took my last shot yesterday morning....

Russkispy · 09/03/2019 15:23

@Ginandtonic31 4 fertilised out of 9. Such a better outcome do our first round in December. And praying heret hey will all make to blast. ET is on Wednesday and the rest to freeze. Needing all the hope and luck in the world right now!
@sweetsaltypopcorn congratulations!

Twiglet2353 · 09/03/2019 19:36

Okay just done Bemfola Day 4, and as I suppressed the plunger (its a pen type stim) some of the medication leaked out the side.
It wasn't as I was withdrawing it was actually as if some came out of the cartridge instead of going through the needle.

Has anyone else experienced this? Do I need to call the unit?

intrigued2018 · 10/03/2019 07:59

@Russkispy - congratulations on your eggs, fingers and toes crossed for ET on Wednesday.

@Ginandtonic31 - when do you get your PSG results?

@ParksAndRecreation - best of luck with ET on Thursday, my clinic said they wanted a lining of at least 9mm so 9.4mm is great especially as you have quite a few days between that scan and ET.

@sweetsaltypopcorn - massive congratulations to you! Like others have said step away from google, I spent some time on it yesterday and now panicking about everything so decided apart from baby centre I'm researching nothing and taking extra care not to do to much. Have you got a 7 week scan booked? I'm booked for 28th March - think I'm more worried about this than the tww 🙈 x

Ginandtonic31 · 10/03/2019 09:06

@intrigued28 we are only doing PGD but should hear In the next 2-3 weeks. I know of people that heard sooner and those that heard bang on 3 weeks so 🤷‍♀️

I hate Google!! Yesterday I convinced myself all our embryos would be bad quality or have some other chromosome issue and should have PGS even though there’s absolutely no evidence to suggest this!!!

Russkispy · 10/03/2019 09:41

@Ginandtonic31 please stay away from Dr Google otherwise it would drive you insane till you hear from your clinic. Try to stay positive!

Thund4rcat · 10/03/2019 13:08

Hi all, I just wanted to share, last cycle I felt zero effects from Buserelin, but this time I am in quite a state emotionally. It is my third week on 0.5ml dose for downregulation and a few days ago I burst into tears... Because I had accidentally opened a tin of custard instead of a tin of rice pudding (!!!) . I know it is funny, but the hormones are making me ready to cry at anything!
