BFP after IVF: nervous ladies needed a handhold Part II

Hi everyone,

Think that the last thread for this topic reached its limit, so have started a new one.

Good luck to everyone who has finally got that longed for BFP!

This is a place for everything that comes after the 2WW: celebrating milestones, being (cautiously!) excited, symptom checking, worrying, sharing advice, commiserating bad news, generally keeping each other going, and willing each other along on our way to the 12 week mark.

A bit about me: 39 y/old, 0 DC, IVF ICSI cycle 1, first BFP since TTC, currently 6+0.

Look forward to meeting lots of people with new BFPs and sharing your journey!

@BeHereNowx32 happy to see she breastfed for 40 mins. Now it's activity time 🙂 for 10 mins before nodding off. According to all the books I've read haha. Omg I've read so many! They say not to let them fall asleep right after feed. I don't want my baby dependent on a boob or bottle to get her to sleep. I'm no professional though.

So random question for you ladies, @cannonball872 @Itonlytakesone @TheArtfulScreamer1 @CritterTamer

any of you get menstral pains at around 33weeks. It's been happening for 2 nights. ONLY laying down, either side and only during the night. I'm propped up on pillows on my back now and it's stopped. I'm not worried too much but it's a bit weird. I've had no pains at all the entire pregnancy (apart from that SI trouble but that's not related) so nothing to compare it to. Could it be ligament stretching? Only hurts when laying down and feels like period is coming kind of pain. 🤔 no Braxton-Hicks and no contraction like feeling. Just constant dull ache at pubic line and hips and back...

@Missmonkeypenny huge congratulations to you! Wishing you best of luck! You're most welcome to join but we were a group from a June/July/aug transfer last year so many have moved on and or had their babies. Might be worth joining a group for transfers and bfp now? Or making one? It's been lovely to have infertility sisters along the journey here for support.

BeHereNowx32 · 28/04/2019 08:56

@HJ82 Sofia was awake for 2 hours after that feed! 🤪 it’s good not to let them depend on it, but when you’re so exhausted and they’re asleep, I wouldn’t be waking them!! I offered her a bottle and she just took an ounce... I should have just breastfed, but no harm done.
I don’t remember period pains, but I think it could be normal, with everything stretching. I would check with midwife though. It seems so long ago that I was pregnant!

Congrats! As @HJ82 said this is quite an old board now. My baby is here and over 6 weeks! Don’t mind if you want to keep chatting though. I can’t stay away because it helps so much to chat, even now! X

BeHereNowx32 · 28/04/2019 08:57

Last part of the comment was for @Missmonkeypenny

BeHereNowx32 · 28/04/2019 09:04

@HJ82 do the books tell you to look at baby as that helps produce more milk. That’s the only things that keeps being doing this really. How peaceful and relaxed baby looks while feeding on the boob! It’s the sweetest. 💗

HJ82 · 28/04/2019 09:09

@BeHereNowx32 oh yes! And to even talk to her about changing her and all sorts of things that I'd just never think of. Two books that are amazing are the baby whisperer ( you should read - can get copy online for £2-5) and baby love, again cheap second hand in amazon 🙂

BeHereNowx32 · 28/04/2019 09:38

@HJ82 I’ll take a look, thanks. You will be a good mummy 😊

HJ82 · 28/04/2019 10:07

@BeHereNowx32 aww thanks! I hope so. My midwife friend says to call triage and get assessed re this aching 😣 better to be safe I guess. Let's also not forget how beneficial BF is for us in our recovery too. I think even if I have latch issues etc I'll def express as much as humanly possible. ❤️

BeHereNowx32 · 28/04/2019 10:15

@HJ82 yeah, phone triage. Hope all ok. Can buy the baby whisperer for £2 on amazon. Worth a try then? X

HJ82 · 28/04/2019 11:27

@BeHereNowx32 yes! Everyone recommended it to me and I'm loving it.

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 28/04/2019 15:15

HJ82 I don't remember feeling particulary period like until I went into labour but I did get various aches, pains and tightenings in the last few weeks of pregnancy.
Missmonkeypenny congratulations on your BFP my DD is now 6 weeks but it's great being on a thread like this for all the little wobbles and fears you experience.

CritterTamer · 28/04/2019 15:32

@HJ82 sorry I cant be of much help - im now 32 weeks and that doesn't sound familiar to me. I have been having brain hicks here and there for the past week but they feel more like a squeezing /tightening discomfort than an ache. I have also had a long of burning pain in one particular place but midwife says that's just ligament stretching or a sore spot where baby has been kicking. How you get checked out and all is OK! XXX

CritterTamer · 28/04/2019 15:33

Braxton hicks not brain hicks! Silly phone

HJ82 · 29/04/2019 12:51

@CritterTamer got checked and they don't know. My bowels were really off for last few days so I think it's related. Slept ok last night though! They found some white cells in I'm urine so sending it off. Probably a bit of a bug but body is fighting it off. Feeling a lot better today. 🙂 hope you're doing a bit better than last time we typed!

BeHereNowx32 · 01/05/2019 10:47

@HJ82 @CritterTamer how are you feeling?

I’m a lot more positive now and enjoying my time with baby 🤗 sleep and feeding has been going well the last few days. Sofia hasn’t been looking for bottles at night. Just breastfeeding- it’s great to not get out of bed and make a bottle 😅

Hope everyone else is ok ok xx

HJ82 · 01/05/2019 11:36

@BeHereNowx32 the trapped wind is excruciating! Starting to get a little flustered with everything now. Still feel like I have so much to take care of, even though I'm pretty set lol. Hormones! My diary is exploding and it's tiring now. With the gas!! 😂 also getting anal shooting pains here and there which isn't pleasant! No sign of piles though so who knows what that is. The joys! Gonna go off work from 22nd.

So happy about the BF. Yay. Making a bottle in the night- no way. I'm nervous about navigating stairs! Especially with baby. We don't even have a bannister in our house. I'll crawl up and down then I guess.

Let me know what you think of the book when you start it 🙂

CritterTamer · 02/05/2019 09:08

@beherenowx32 - I'm OK, thanks for asking! I'm so glad to hear that you and baby are doing well and things are settling down nicely on the feeding front. I'm only 32 + 4 and according to yesterday's ultrasound both my babies are weighing in at just over 5lb already, which I guess explains why I'm so incredibly uncomfortable! I have at least finished work now so that helps, but I have obstetric cholestasis and low platelets and RBC counts so I'm practically living at the hospital for constant monitoring and blood testing at the moment. Consultant says that due to their size there is a 'significant' chance of them arriving before my planned induction at 37 weeks so just trying to prepare myself for a possible early labour at any time now.

@HJ82 hope you're feeling better - the trapped wind sounds nasty. I don't have that but do have horrific acid indigestion - it's not glamorous it's out? Lol

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 02/05/2019 10:20

HJ you have my sympathy I used to get awful trapped gas and javelin arse both literal pains in the arse.
Behere glad the feeding is going well we've had a couple of 3 plus hour stretches on a night between feeds which feels great.
Critter you seem to be collecting various medical conditions hope they'll all rectify when your babies are here.

Is anyone on here unexplained for there infertility? If so what are your thoughts or feelings on contraception?

HJ82 · 02/05/2019 16:09

Who got swelling!? Holy heck - feels awful. Im only a tiny bit swollen and feels gross. Calves, fingers and ankles 🤪

CritterTamer · 02/05/2019 18:14

Lol yep I get this - especially if I have been sitting at my desk or standing still for a long time. It's much better if I get a little bit of exercise 😊

Itonlytakesone · 02/05/2019 19:25

@CritterTamer
Aww how lovely you are going to get to meet your babies probably sooner than you think. You are doing well that's quite a weight to carry around well done 👍🏻 so exciting. I actually miss being pregnant so enjoy what you've got left!

@BeHereNowx32
Glad you're ok and getting into more of a routine with things it's all so overwhelming isn't it, you've just got to do what's best for you and your baby i certainly do nothing else matters. I'm really enjoying being a new mummy she's just the best 🎀

@HJ82
Glad you got checked though better to be safe than sit worrying.

@Missmonkeypenny
Aww congratulations you must be so happy it's the best feeling finally getting that BFP 🎉

BeHereNowx32 · 03/05/2019 02:36

@HJ82 you need to buy nipple shells to wear while breastfeeding. I can’t believe I only started using them yesterday! I was always leaking and it’s messy.. now the milk is collected and I will put into a bottle for tomorrow 👍
I had a little swelling. Couldn’t wear my wedding rings. Feels strange now they’re back on!

@Itonlytakesone so lovely! How old is your baby now? Is their little personality showing through? I can say I’m only just starting to enjoy it this week. Now hormones have settled and she is sleeping better. We done baby massage today. So, so nice xx

Itonlytakesone · 03/05/2019 03:09

@BeHereNowx32
Iv not got my wedding rings back on yet but hoping to get them back out of storage this weekend! I'm really excited about this. I'm starting to enjoy it more this week too it all of a sudden clicked into place and getting myself into a nice daily routine which is lovely & predictable.

My baby is 8 weeks on Saturday it's gone way too fast aww and yes her personality is really showing, she's smiling loads and even starting to look like she's laughing. I love her so much especially in the mornings she's full of smiles. I record them for my husband all the time so he doesn't miss out, I made him download Snapchat because i send that many 😂this doesn't store them on the phone it's more of a snap of what's going on right at that moment then it deletes.

BeHereNowx32 · 03/05/2019 03:16

@Itonlytakesone that’s a lovely idea! I send lots of photo to DH on WhatsApp. I never manage to get s video of her laughing, chatting etc. She looks all confused when the phone comes out! Are you up doing a night feed too? 😝 x

Itonlytakesone · 03/05/2019 04:17

Haha yes im up she's woken up so feeding her 😂she napped a lot yesterday my mum came round and she always manages to get her to sleep lots in the day, more often than i can anyway! So she always wakes up earlier when that happens the day before. I'm hoping we can go back to bed after. I know what you mean about the phone coming at them they must wonder what it is! Love her smiles though 🥰
