Welcome clomiphene citrate people!

Come and chat about all things Clomid.

I'm Alice
33 years old
TTC#1
Cycle 31

Had all the tests and finally got the go-ahead today (a prescription and letter in the post!) So bit of a surprise. Will be starting on CD2 in about 4 days time hopefully.

Scared, excited, nervous.

@Laurenita thanks for the reply and support! I’m sad to hear you experiencing so much pain! What round/dose are you?
I hate the waiting it literally drives me crazy.
I’ve just realised that I’m probably on the wrong board because I’m actually from Australia not the UK. I was just so desperate for an active clomid group I didn’t realise where you were all from!! Our health system is a bit different and I see my doctor privately, I am a theatre nurse so I see him at work quite often.
Couldn’t sleep last night because I couldn’t stop thinking about clomid and trying to get pregnant. So frustrating!!

Jezza321 · 31/12/2018 18:42

My last cycle I ovulated day 18, and I am guessing I ovulated the same this month as my progesterone was nearly identical! Here’s hoping we caught that pesky egg.

Clarence58 · 31/12/2018 18:51

@laurenita yeah I was told to take it on day 2. My period did start yesterday but just really really light which bit never is. I had all my usual period type cramps since Thursday when I was due on but it’s just not really started properly so I thought well this might just be what my period is doing this month. Ahhh it’s all so stressful and confusing sometimes

Laurenita · 31/12/2018 21:05

@twiglet2353. Interesting you should say that. On the first month I had the CD21 bloods but that was before the Clomid, just a monitoring month. On the 2nd month she gave me Clomid but scanned me on CD21 saying yes, I had 3 collapsed follicles so I probably ovulated and released 3 eggs. However, even though I was started my period 6 days later than usual, the fact I ovulated late on CD18 made her say I ovulated too late and she could no longer help me, which I thought strange when my period was also late and this seems common with Clomid judging by what others have said. I din't question her directly because hey, she knows best... right? I don't know. It's funny because I studied biomedical science 15 years ago and everyone and their pets dogs have no problem getting pregnant, but for me, it seems like some kind of advanced, exact science that I just can't seem to get right!
@jezza321I'm on round 2 at 50mg.I'm from the UK but I'm actually living in Czech Republic right now due to my partner's work.Fingers crossed for you!
@Clarence58 I feel you. I don't even know my body anymore! Whoever said trying for a baby was fun has clearly never actually had to 'try' for a baby rolls eyes.

Laurenita · 31/12/2018 21:08

@Clarence58 In fact, when I broached the subject with my mum her exact response was 'I only had to look at it and I was pregnant'. FML

Clarence58 · 31/12/2018 21:19

@laurenita haha exactly. Nobody else in my family/friends seem to have had any issues conceiving.

You spend so many years trying so hard not to get pregnant then when you want to, it’s such a complicated minefield

Laurenita · 31/12/2018 21:58

@Clarence58 I know right. Remember the first month of TTC where it felt like you were doing something wrong but at the same time you were like 'yeah, I've totally got this, easy' then being really surprised when your period came? Oh, how naive I was, lol. Or when I was dating DP for the first few months and we had a little accident and I went running to the chemist. In reality, silly me needn't have bothered! Sigh.

Twiglet2353 · 01/01/2019 11:09

Happy New Year everyone. I've woken up to spotting AGAIN. 6dpo (in theory). I know it's just another day but there's something so upsetting about starting another year like this.

Laurenita · 01/01/2019 13:11

Sorry to hear that @Twiglet2353, fingers crossed it's IB Flowers

juneybean · 01/01/2019 14:54

Sorry twiglet x

I've had a cry today as don't think I've ovulated again and I'm now thinking my body is done. It's coming up to 2 years of trying and 5 years since I tried on my own (complicated story I guess...)

Just don't know what to do anymore :(

Laurenita · 01/01/2019 15:23

Sorry @juneybean :(

My mum's god daughter just announced her 3rd 'surprise' pregnancy scan today, I'm a little surprised since she split up with her boyfriend like 8 months ago. Trying not to be mad or envious but failing miserably.

juneybean · 01/01/2019 15:29

Oh that's hard @Laurenita :(

I was just saying to my wife this morning it feels so lonely as everyone around us is having babies but if we knew someone who was also struggling it'd be nice to know it's not just us. And I know obviously I've got everyone on mumsnet but if there was someone I actually knew in RL does that make sense?

Laurenita · 01/01/2019 16:18

Yeah, I get you. I also don't know anyone personally who particularly struggled and has taken Clomid to help either. It does get lonely. My cramps have subsided today, I'm hoping it wasn't ovulation as I had no peak LH on the OPK's, just a rise in oestrogen was detected the past 2 days. Now I'm thinking of a way I can persuade DP to BD when he has flu lol. Wish me luck!

Hummingbirdsarang · 01/01/2019 19:44

Hi,

I've just turned 34 and am currently taking 50mg Cycle 2. My first cycle was cancelled as I had 4 mature follicles which I was really gutted about and unsure how it is not going to overstimulate this cycle either... They cancelled because my PCOS is due to a large ovarian reserve so my risk of multiples is high.

I was just wondering if anyone has been in a similar position?
I've got my follicle check scan next week and am nervous it'll be cancelled again...

Side effects I have struggled with are the days between the last pill and ovulation (I ovulated on Day 14) where I felt very emotional and up and down. I've also experience the worse period pains I've ever had.

confused107 · 02/01/2019 00:05

I think people struggle more than they admit. From a couple (of mainly drunken) conversations I have two friends who conceived via clomid. I also have one friend that has had 7 failed attempts at IVF. It's heartbreaking. Love and baby dust for 2019. Happy new year all xx

Twiglet2353 · 02/01/2019 07:07

Woken up a couple of times during the night losing clots. What a fun new development.

Hoping1 · 02/01/2019 20:00

Dont know what to think or do now after scan I was to sensitive to first lot of Clomid 3 big follicles just had scan as they dropped me to 3 tablets and scan shows another 3 big ones they have told me not to go ahead with this cycle as risk of multiple so have to take no tablets next cycle has anyone eles been told not to take it any more hopefully new year brings us all good news just hope body can ovulate without tablets xxx

Laurenita · 02/01/2019 20:08

@Hoping1 Interested why they told you not to go ahead? I had 3 follicles last month on my first round and I was fine to go ahead.

@sorry Twiglet2353, hope you are feeling ok Flowers

juneybean · 02/01/2019 20:16

Think it depends on each clinics rules

Hoping1 · 02/01/2019 20:23

They said because they were to big both time and I am little framed they said not to go ahead I just hope they have kick started ovulation all we can do is hope isn't it xxx

Hummingbirdsarang · 02/01/2019 21:08

@Hoping1 I was told to stay on same dose but I'm not sure why they've not lowered it... cycle 2 scan Tuesday but I think it'll be same result- I had 4 ! They won't let me go ahead if there's more than 2.

Frustrating- it seems that most people need higher doses not super sensitive!

Hoping1 · 02/01/2019 21:18

@Hummingbirdsarang that what I was thinking every one eles gets put up. I was told last cycle to lower dosage to 3 tablets from six and still had 3 big ones only on 50g. We back at hospital tomorrow for partners second test to see if he has improve after taking muilt vitamins

LisaCookie · 02/01/2019 23:44

@Twiglet2353 are you ok? Hope your well . .
Ino this sounds silly but has anybody else experienced the pre period symptom of a little blood in nose? Bet I sound a bigger haha . A week before it's due I always feel the urge to blow my nose and there's blood. Not a lot . Not a lot at all. But hey it's just come today . Conveniently a week before it's due :(

LisaCookie · 02/01/2019 23:44

That was meant to say nutter not bigger :/

Twiglet2353 · 03/01/2019 06:32

@LisaCookie I'm just really fed up. Spoke to my consultant who has arranged an appointment in two weeks to discuss next steps. Has given me the option of starting a 150mg cycle if I wish but he doesn't think I'll respond.

I'm considering it as a "why not" - just in case that is our month, but I think I read they'd want a month off clomid before starting injectables, so in the interest of saving time maybe I won't start them.

If anyone has any information on clomid resistance at 100mg then working on 150mg please let me know.

Likewise @AliceScarlett I hope things are progressing with your ivf cycle. Did they want you to have a month between clomid and commencing?
