Hi ladies, just wondered if anyone wants to hold hands as we go through a cycle?

After a failed fresh cycle earlier this year, I’m starting my progynova today with a planned FET for May.

Would love some company x

@findingmyfeet12 don’t worry I do the same too, usually end up crying at the births or getting angry at the teenage chavs or accidental pregnancies!!!

@physicsakate - that’s great news! So glad you are getting close. Unfortunately I have no advice regarding tsh level either

I’m glad I’m not the only one who indulged in one born every minute. I love it! Although I do prefer to see the stories of people who have struggled but got there in the end x

physicskate · 25/04/2018 21:50

Hi Summer - they said they weren't going to retest and were only prescribing the meds because of ttc (the implication was that in normal circumstances they wouldn't medicate...). So she seemed to say it wasn't that big of a deal. The studies I have read suggest otherwise...?

We may have to hold off a cycle anyway because af is due friday and it's a bank holiday weekend. So I wouldn't get scanned until day 5 instead of day 2... which I am supposing might have implications??

hoping2018 · 25/04/2018 21:52

@windy2909 yes to be honest I'd go with whatever they suggest. We were annoyed last cycle as they offered to transfer two last minute with no real explanation of things - this time they're very clear on 2.

@Si1ver interesting they told you stop DHEA then. I'm taking the same but hadn't asked - I'm on other supplements to so I assume it's the same- I'll ask on next scan!

@physicskate I have an under active thyroid. If your tsh is higher than 2.5 you have a higher rate of miscarriage - it normally takes 6-8 weeks for the TSH to come down with treatment. When I first started on thyroxine my TSH actually went up which was frustrating as I was waiting for it to be normal before TTC! To be honest I'm surprised they're letting you start with a TSH above 2.5? I've heard of one person being told not to start IVF for 3 months after tsh is

hoping2018 · 25/04/2018 21:54

@physicskate I've done sooo much research on tsh in TTC and pregnancy if you want to pm me privately xx

physicskate · 25/04/2018 21:56

@hoping - that is super super helpful. I'm not sure who I go to, as it seems the consultant isn't very interested and the GP has been SUPER dismissive... Having been on thyroxine in the past, I really doubt 25mg is going to get me down below 2.5... when it's currently so high...

ARG!!!!

But I'd rather not waste this cycle...

hoping2018 · 25/04/2018 21:56

@Summerloving17 I really hope we do get different results! If not I think they'll start pushing donor conception which I'm just not ready for

physicskate · 25/04/2018 22:04

I have pmed you hoping!!

And I suppose this means I am probably stepping off this thread as it seems unlikely we will cycle next week!! (Might lurk a bit to wish you all luck)!

HappyHedgehog247 · 26/04/2018 06:43

Hello ladies. Thanks for the NICE guidelines @hoping. @physicskate sorry about the tsh but I totally understand not wanting to feel you are wasting a cycle even though more waiting is frustrating.

I'm busy fretting away and kicking myself I got my medication wrong and wondering if the follicles have grown and if so how many and have they grown enough. I don't feel very bloated but do feel sort of fluttery/tingly sensations in the evening after my stims. My friend keeps telling me it only takes one, which I know is true, but have found some data on the correlation between egg volume and live birth especially for my age group (vintage!). Only one more day to go til my scan thank goodness. Sorry for the mad rambling x

hoping2018 · 26/04/2018 07:07

@HappyHedgehog247 don't beat yourself up about it! It seems like everything is for a reason - if they wanted to they would have put you up further.

My last cycle was a perfect example of quality not quantity - I got 20 eggs and still nothing to show for it at the end. The evidence is anything above 15 is not needed and maybe even lowers your chances so if you're on potentially 11 that sounds great! XX

HappyHedgehog247 · 26/04/2018 07:15

Thank you @hoping. I don't think I will get 11 as some were small but that is really helpful to hear about the data and I didn't know that. I'm sorry your massive haul didn't work out for you last time xx

findingmyfeet12 · 26/04/2018 07:42

HappyHedgehog247 I agree with hoping, it sounds like your clinic is happy with your progress. Having said that I can understand that you're feeling really frustrated about it. I'd be the same.

I don't seem to have a problem conceiving. I just can't hang on to the pregnancy. They've given me low dose aspirin this time and some other drugs for after the transfer. It's against the law to test for genetic abnormalities here so these drugs are our only hope.

AniSL · 26/04/2018 07:45

Physicskate that sucks, my TSH was 4 point something when my initial tests were done, they referred me to an endocrinologist. I refused to take medication but had a look at alternatives. I starting drinking peppermint tea twice a day. My second test 3 months later bought me down to 1 point something

Si1ver · 26/04/2018 08:37

@hoping2018 yes, I emailed them the list of suppliments I was taking the day before I started my treatment and asked them if they were ok with what I was on. It only occurred to me because of the no multi vitamin chat on here.

They said what I was on was fine but that I would stop DHEA on egg retrieval day. For reference I'm taking the below

· 5000IU Vitamin D

· Omega 3 Fish Oil

· 800micrograms Folic acid

· 50mg DHEA

· Vitamin B Complex tablet

windy2909 · 26/04/2018 08:57

@physicskate - so sorry it’s looking like you’ll have to wait and that you seem to be getting better advice from the ladies on here as opposed to the medical experts. Can see where you’re coming through though, it’s important you do everything possible to maximise your chances x

@happyhedgehog - try not to worry. Your scan results were looking good and the fact that they told you to just continue with what you had been taking indicates that it was doing no harm x

Summerloving17 · 26/04/2018 10:12

@hedgehog, I think I had about 7 follicles on my first scan and two huge cysts!! By the egg collection they got 10 eggs, 9 mature. I was expecting about 5 or 6! Lots can change quickly

@physicskate I’m so sorry you are going to wait longer to start, definitely worth giving yourself the best shot xx

Morning ladies, hope everyone is doing fine. Starting my stims tomorrow evening 😬. Does anyone know what the merck app for iPhone is precisely? I've had a look but can't see it, only one I found asked me to insert a code, no idea what code, and was in italian anyway 😩 apparently it's a good app to enter drug times, dates and appointment reminders xx

HappyHedgehog247 · 26/04/2018 13:56

@SummerLoving thank you for that info - really helpful to hear as nothing to compare too, and thank you too @windy I have calmed down from crazy land. Home alone this week so the brain is a bit overactive!!!

@pickles I felt so much better once I started on the stims! Better than normal in fact, quite want to carry on with a little extra hormonal help!

Just back from a fertility massage following someone here talking about it - my goodness it was bliss! I didn't want to get up at the end!

xx

Cobblestones · 26/04/2018 19:09

Hi all. Can I join? I’ve been lurking around hoping to start first cycle of ivf. Short protocol. AF likely to arrive tomorrow (have taken med to induce).

My stats: age 34. Ttc 5 years. 2 failed cycles of IUI. PCOS. 2 mmcs.

I also take thyroxine 75 mcg and it took 6 weeks to stabilise at

hoping2018 · 26/04/2018 20:41

Of course! Welcome @Cobblestones !

Sorry you've had such a long journey to get to this point. But sounds like you're getting started imminently!

Did your doctor recommend aiming for

picklesandpetals · 26/04/2018 20:56

@Cobblestones welcome. I've only just joined the thread myself actually. Yeah, I feel really confused about the multi vitamins still. You trust you are getting the best advice from your consultant when you ask. I've been taking the multi vitamins for about the last 4 years I guess.

@HappyHedgehog247 🤣 laughing that you feel better on the stims. Perhaps that's what I need to iron me out too! OH often comments on my hormonal state 😬

@hoping2018 how did you get on with first day of stims today?!

Liking the idea of a fertility massage. I'm going to look into that 🤗. Had a back massage yesterday and it was lovely

Had a shitty hormonal day, OH took me for a curry, he knows how to snap me out of it. Thank god for a supportive partner, see how that goes when I get on stims 😜

Did anyone have scans today?

Good luck everyone at whatever stage your at xx

windy2909 · 26/04/2018 21:32

@cobblestones - hello and welcome!

@happyhedgehog - glad you’ve managed to find some calm and thinking of you for your scan tomorrow. Best of luck! X

findingmyfeet12 · 27/04/2018 07:45

Welcome Cobblestones !

I've just had my scan. I have 3 follicles on the right and 7 on the left.

I'm happy with that number. It's the best I could have hoped for given my previous cycles.

Hope everyone else is doing well today. Happy good luck for your scan 🤞

Si1ver · 27/04/2018 07:54

Excellent follicle growing skills there @findingmyfeet12

My first scan is tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed these stims have done something other than make me sleep for England and my skin break out.

gizmoismymate · 27/04/2018 13:17

Hello Ladies - i'll be a little out sync with you guys as I don't start my 2nd go at IVF/ICSI until 30th May but thought I would jump on anyway.

Going aboard after our 1st freebie NHS go - wasn't impressed without treatment, certainly not enough to give them a lot of pennies. Yorkshire girls I'm based in Leeds :-)

Si1ver we are cycling with Reprofit as well and I had the same question about post transfer meds as they only mention pre EC meds of which I seem to have a lot - more than in UK. Where did you go in the end for your medication? It's a good job I have done one cycle before as it helps with the documents they send you which aren't super detailed. Have you booked accommodation etc yet.. sorry all the questions - finding someone else going to the same place is fab.

Good luck ladies x x
