Hi ladies, just wondered if anyone wants to hold hands as we go through a cycle?

After a failed fresh cycle earlier this year, I’m starting my progynova today with a planned FET for May.

Would love some company x

For anyone still reading :-) I’m booked In for transfer Sunday. 9 embryos still good as of today! 2 slightly fragmented they said so they estimate 6-7 by Sunday
I had always thought I would ask for 2 back as I am nearly 40 but now weighing up the risks. It’s natural to assume 2 is a better chance than one right? We will be freezing the rest but would need to take loans out for any future FET.
Still obv very very happy with these results!

rainylake · 01/06/2018 12:38

Congratulations @bangsaklove! Sounds like your embryos are doing really well and 6-7 would be a great result.

Was told at my booking appointment that 2 did give a better chance than 1 but not a doubled chance. So possibly to overall maximise chances you’d be better off putting in 1 at a time and freezing remainder (but obviously there are financial and time implications to doing that). If you get to blastocyst stage the chances of a multiple pregnancy from 2 are a lot higher than for a 3 day transfer so that is also something to factor in. I guess it depends on how you feel about the risk of a twin pregnancy vs the risk of incurring the financial/emotional/time burden if you have to go through FET later on.

Thank you @rainylake lots to think about and will talk it over with DH. If only I was younger I may feel less pressure but we only met a few years ago. I will remain thankful for him whatever happens and hey at the very least we created some embryos together :-)

bangsaklove · 01/06/2018 15:14

I meant to add how are you doing?? :-)

rainylake · 01/06/2018 15:50

I think as you get older and the chances start to go down it's a really hard decision to make. I definitely didn't want twins because I'd read quite a bit on the increased risk to babies and mother, so I was quite sure that I was only wanted them to put one back even if they suggested two (in fact they said they preferred one, but would have let me have two if I'd wanted it ). But I'm on a package which covers unlimited frozen transfers for the upfront rate we paid, which makes it an easier decision. Equally I have a good friend who has healthy twins conceived through IVF, and for her the decision to have 2 back in has obviously worked out really well.

I read the original report on the HFEA website about multiple births (from about 10 years ago when the multiple rate was something like 25% for IVF pregnancies) where among other things they criticise the NHS policies for not automatically covering frozen transfers as part of the cycle, because by doing that they put a lot of pressure on patients to have 2 back because they worry they won't be able to afford the storing and FET fees. But it didn't seem to change the policy!

I'm feeling okay thanks. Back in my normal jeans again, and able to cope with my normal gym classes (though my ovaries are still a little tender if I jump or twist so I have to be a bit mindful and not push myself). I'm trying not to get excited because I'm slightly paranoid that being on the progesterone could have covered up a miscarriage if the embryo wasn't developing properly, and the wait for the scan feels incredibly long. But I'm going on holiday for a week tomorrow, and I think that will really help to take my mind off it.

bangsaklove · 02/06/2018 20:13

I hope you have a lovely holiday it will be just what you need, what we all do I think!
Thank for you the information above too, I am going to see what they suggest tomo and go from there..

SouthernBella74 · 03/06/2018 10:12

@bangsaklove, good luck with your transfer today! 🍀

Grimbles · 03/06/2018 10:18

I don't want to tempt fate, and nothing is certain yet, but I got a bfp this morning, 14 days after transfer. Shock

HappyHedgehog247 · 03/06/2018 10:38

Wow @grimbles congrats!!! That is such exciting news
Hope the transfer went well @bangsak

Yorkshirelass27 · 03/06/2018 11:45

Congratulations Grimbles!
Hope the transfer goes well bangsaklove

AniSL · 03/06/2018 20:17

@Grimbles congratulations

bangsaklove · 04/06/2018 07:31

@grimbles Lovely news to wake up too was that the official test date? congrats to you!
Thanks ladies for the good luck wishes sorry I wasn’t on yday was all a bit of a whirlwind yday.
Transfer went fine if a little ouch with a too full bladder....they said full they got completely! Even the nurse said wow hahah
So we were down to one clear front runner yday 1 for the freezer and maybe one more to freeze but if wasn’t so great that one so they were going to see overnight
Due to one clear one they wouldn’t let me have 2 back in, I fought my corner but they were adamant and so I went with their advice in the end. I guess they know what they’d are doing right xx
Anyone have any side effect s on cyclogest? Sore boobs...fine but seem to have developed a weird insomnia, waking at 3am and also twitchy arms! Didn’t have either of these pre pessaries hmmm
Have a good Monday all

bangsaklove · 04/06/2018 07:32

Si1ver · 04/06/2018 12:48

Well done @PonyPals, what a relief for you!

When's your test date @bangsaklove?

My first scan is on Saturday, I'll be seven weeks so hopefully will see a heartbeat and start to relax a bit.

bangsaklove · 04/06/2018 16:49

Good luck for your scans both of you! Being PUPO feels surreal so can’t imagine how you feel :-)

Test date is 15th June !

Yorkshirelass27 · 05/06/2018 19:35

Great news ponypals, congratulations!
Congratulations bangsaklove, another positive step forward!

Dia12 · 06/06/2018 15:47

I’m a little behind in my treatment from this group but I was wondering if anyone could help ease my mind.

I’ve just had my day 7 stimulation scan check on follicles. Ive been on 150iu of menopur.
There are 11 follicles but they are a tiny 4.5mm and the doctor has told me I need to increase my dosage to a whopping 450iu to help them grow to at least 18mm by next Wednesday.

I know the doctors know what they are doing but I’m still apprehensive about why they are so small and whether I’m doing something wrong. Also worried about taking such a high dose.
Has anyone had similar experiences?

bangsaklove · 07/06/2018 15:58

hi @Dia12 try not to worry, I was on different stimms drugs but at 2 of my scans 7 were way way behind and then they all grew the last 2-3 days by the time I got to EC they collected 14 in total, try not to worry the docs will know what they are doing and better they increase the drugs now :)

Yorkshirelass27 · 07/06/2018 17:31

Hi Dia, I have been on 450iu for the last two cycles and didn't particularly get a huge amount of side effects- nothing others don't get. Hope all goes well.

Dia12 · 07/06/2018 20:30

Thanks @bangsaklove and @yorkshirelass27 that’s reassuring to hear, has put my mind at ease - you’re right the docs know what they are doing.
Have been on higher dose for a day now and so far so good. Just worked myself up a bit.

bangsaklove · 08/06/2018 11:46

@dia12 totally understandable i was the same, I cried at my last scan i as I thought none of them were big enough and my husband was like did you not HEAR the same good numbers as me! but i focused on the 4s! like I say they all got collected 3 days later so u can never tell, have faith in your medical team :) and good luck for your next follie scan!

bangsaklove · 09/06/2018 11:32

@traciwatto if you are still there....or anyone else who got bfps! how long did your implanation bleed last and was it mild or not? sorry to ask but I am 6dp5dt and had spotting with blood this morning so totally freaking, upset, and convinced I am out. May just test, was gonna hold off but seems pointless now. Although not sure an early test would confirm for sure, Have also had cramps for at least 3 days x Am clutching at straws but any reassurance may help me through today,

Si1ver · 09/06/2018 13:32

@bangsaklove how worrying for you. Take it easy and fingers crossed that it settles down xx

hoping2018 · 09/06/2018 17:20

Hi @bangsaklove, sorry I didn't get an implantation bleed - one day my pessary discharge (TMI) went brown but I can't recall how far in that was. I had really strong cramps on 6dp3dt.

On my unsuccessful cycle I bled on 9dp5dt and it was a very obvious period from the offset x
