Hi ladies, just wondered if anyone wants to hold hands as we go through a cycle?

After a failed fresh cycle earlier this year, I’m starting my progynova today with a planned FET for May.

Would love some company x

Welcome @AniSL, sending you positive vibes and hopes for a successful ICSI cycle. Star I was on the short protocol and it went by really quickly!

Si1ver · 15/04/2018 17:49

I'm in as well. I'll be starting Gonal F next weekend when my next cycle starts.

First cycle, low AMH and old. Short protocol and in going abroad. Any advice or reassurance or sense taking into me gratefully received.

AniSL · 15/04/2018 18:54

Thanks SouthernBella. I'm glad I'm on the short, don't think I could cope with the long and also the health implications too.

Si1lver I will be starting around next weekend and off to Greece. Doubled it up with a holiday too

Si1ver · 15/04/2018 19:12

@AniSL we're going to the Czech Republic. I'm quite apprehensive, my meds are getting delivered on Tuesday.

Yorkshirelass27 · 15/04/2018 19:44

Hi all, hope you are well.
So all being well I start injecting tomorrow. Hope I've still got the knack! This time next month I'll know if it's worked or not.
Hi physicskate, yes looks like we are fellow Yorkshire lasses!

windy2909 · 15/04/2018 21:16

Welcome to all newly joined. Think this could be a busy wee thread! Wishing everybody the best of luck!

@ southernbella - that’s really great that both your blasts tested had good results. Will you do one back at a time? X

Si1ver · 16/04/2018 10:14

Got confirmation that my meds will be couriered to me tomorrow.

Can I ask if anyone has cycled with Reprofit before? I've got some concerns that they've not mentioned progesterone post transfer at all.

Summerloving17 · 16/04/2018 13:00

@Si1ver sorry I don’t have any experience of reprofit but can you give them a call or email if you are concerned? They might not have mentioned it but assumed as standard?

Is everyone planning to transfer one or two? I keep driving myself crazy with changing my mind!! I have three frozen embryos left but this is my 5th cycle and the last failure almost tipped me over the edge mentally. My husband and I discussed this being the last time I go through it so want to give it my best shot, however I’m not keen on twins due to the risk of complications (one of my close friends lost hers at 23 weeks). On the other hand I also have three friends that transferred two and only one took!! I have said one to my consultant but am going to ask him to defrost another I think if the quality doesn’t look great post defrost. Interested in others views!

Hope everyone is ok? I’m plodding away on the progynova and fortunately apart from a headache and water retention I’m feeling ok! Also thinking I could potentially be testing on my birthday (10th May) a positive test is the only present I want!!! Xx

@Summerloving17 I know that's the rational thing to do, I'm just holding back as I feel I've asked them a lot of questions recently 😁

I think we're going to transfer two embryos if we have enough. I'm not keen on the idea of twins either, but I'm a big fan of stats and figures and the increase in potential single success outweighs the multiple pregnancy risk for me personally.

hoping2018 · 16/04/2018 13:28

Hey @Summerloving17 , I got offered 2 last time but opted for one as I'm medical and was scared of complications. However consultant has said we should got for 2 next time due to poor quality and unlikely to take?

You could see what the quality is and then decide? Am I right in thinking you're expecting this to be your last go? If so you might as well defrost a couple and see what they're like?

My clinic told me there's a 20% chance of twins with 2 embryos transferred xx

Summerloving17 · 16/04/2018 13:37

@Si1ver haha don't worry I was the same with the questions but you are paying enough so I would go for it than be worried ;)
Do you mind me asking where you got your stats from, I couldn't find anything on success rates when transferring two vs one?

@hoping2018, yes I do want this to be my last go, although I know deep down I wouldn't be able to stop if I had a frozen embryo left and at the moment I'm feeling positive and I just believe that one of them has got to work!! I think the idea of defrosting more than one is a good one and I will discuss with my consultant I think. How are you doing?

xx

@Summerloving17 from my clinic direct. They said a 20% increase in a successful live birth Vs a 10% increase in likelihood of multiple pregnancy.

HappyHedgehog247 · 16/04/2018 15:36

Hi everyone
So happy we have this thread.
@summerloving I've also been wondering about how many embryos to have transferred if I'm lucky enough to get that far. I'm currently thinking 2. Id rather have one baby than two, but I'd rather have two than none! I will see how things unfold though and what doctors advice is.
@yorkshirelass I started injections today too!

I took Buserelin this morning. Have a headache. Don't know if it's the drug or cutting down to 1 cup of tea (I normally have 3 or 2 and a coffee! Am missing coffee!).

windy2909 · 16/04/2018 16:25

Hi everyone, hope everyone already on meds are doing well?!

My clinic are not really into putting back more than one at a time. If I was given the opportunity I would go for two but wouldn’t go against their advice as I would be too scared in case anything went wrong medically. X

AniSL · 16/04/2018 16:51

We will be going with two 5 day blasts as recommended by our clinic

physicskate · 16/04/2018 18:08

I'm nhs and 34. I'm sure they'll only do one. My cousin in America has 4 embryos back in 13 years ago in the US. She had a single son from that.

hoping2018 · 16/04/2018 18:40

I'm pretty sure the law in England is 2 max.

It depends on the quality of embryos - I was 31 in first cycle and they offered 2, we went with 1 but they're now "not offering" but advising 2

Yorkshirelass27 · 16/04/2018 18:40

Arh injection twins happyhedgehog! Are you on short or long protocol? I'm on short. Had to mix 6 powders together and inject this afternoon. Took me almost 20 minutes! Sure I'll get quicker!
As I'm on a high dose I'm trying to drink as much water as possible to avoid ohss.
Had 1 embie transferred on our first cycle, but will possibly be two this time.
Hope you are all well

HappyHedgehog247 · 16/04/2018 20:34

@yorkshirelass i'm short but our protocol sounds a bit different. I', on 0.3ml Buserelin for my 'downreg'- no powder mixing but looks like i'm only on them for a few days before I start my stims! Have been told i'm more at risk of non-responding than OHSS which may account for some of the difference.

SouthernBella74 · 16/04/2018 22:48

Hi @Windy, yes, they'll only put back one as they said there is no difference in quality and as they are both "normal" that's what they suggest.
@Summerloving, I'm going to follow my clinics advice and put back just one....although, I secretly want twins although I know it's riskier.

Welcome to all the new ladies! I hope we can support each other through this journey.

Sorry, I've been a bit quiet. I was completely out of action yesterday with a terrible headache, sore throat and flu like symptoms...I'm hoping it's the progynova and nothing too serious. Feel slightly better today, so will just keep drinking my water!

3 days down and 9 to go for my first scan...

hoping2018 · 17/04/2018 06:05

@SouthernBella74 the stats for twin pregnancies are depressing reading - 1 in 12 die or are left with disabilities. Here's hoping for healthy singletons all round. Though I must say the appeal of getting two at once and never doing this again is pretty high!

8 days to first scan for me - sadly only yesterday I was saying how much better down regging seems this time and then I woke up with my first proper hot sweat last night. It's begun!

AniSL · 17/04/2018 10:44

We have 9 sets of healthy twins in my family so am prepared that I may end up with twins too

windy2909 · 17/04/2018 16:40

Hey everyone, hope you are all well.

@southernbella - number of embryos seems to vary between clinics and also age seems to be another factor they consider. Just got to trust and hope for the best!

@hoping2018 - hot sweats do not sound fun! Hope this settles down for you!

SouthernBella74 · 17/04/2018 22:49

@hoping2018, absolutely! After all the injections, waiting, waiting and waiting, the most important thing is to have a healthy baby. Smile

@windy, I thought that due to my age, I'd end up having my 2 blast transferred, but they've advised just the one, so I'm just going to trust them.

@summerloving, how are you coping with the progynova? I think I'm through the worst of the side affects...I hope.

I feel like the first few months of this year have gone pretty quickly, but now that my transfer date is in sight, time seems to have slowed right down. And I can't take it! Anyone else feel like this?

windy2909 · 18/04/2018 07:09

Absolutely feel like this southernbella....feel like time is just standing still with all the waiting to get going again. The only aspect of time I am concious of moving on is my age! 😩
