Hi ladies, just wondered if anyone wants to hold hands as we go through a cycle?

After a failed fresh cycle earlier this year, I’m starting my progynova today with a planned FET for May.

Would love some company x

@AniSL yes, my first one is at 8pm this evening. I've heard evenings are better than mornings for the same reason. That said I get grumpy about him nicking the duvet in my sleep, so it might not actually improve things.

Si1ver · 23/04/2018 14:54

@HappyHedgehog247 that's interesting. Surely a clinic wouldn't return two dramatically differing quality embryos though would they?

Summerloving17 · 23/04/2018 15:11

@Happyhedgehog, how annoying about the dose although it sounds like it might have been fate, I think I only had small ones to start with and then the week after they had grown so fingers crossed for you!

Thankyou for sharing that article too, I had read it before and found it interesting, however it is only a study from one clinic and the aim seems to be to reduce multiples hence would be biased towards a single transfer. I know 9 couples that have had 11 ivf successes between them and all transferred two, only one couple had twins. It makes me think it can’t be true?! I am going to grill my consultant on Wednesday as he didn’t advise me either way!

Haha re going crazy, you can join me! To be honest I’m not sure if it’s the hormones or the whole rollercoaster of emotions this journey takes you through! Feeling positive today though 🙌 xx

Can I ask how old you all are?

I'm 38 and we've been having fertility treatment for 4 years now (started with clomid when I was 34).

physicskate · 23/04/2018 17:32
  1. Started ttc at 32. Started clomid at 33...

Starting ivf early may?? 26 months after first starting ttc...

hoping2018 · 23/04/2018 19:00

Started TTC age 30 and just turned 32. This is my second cycle of ICSI. I'm grateful it's all moved quite quick for us but that's because we have MFI and due to my low AMH we were told to get on with IVF quickly.

SouthernBella74 · 23/04/2018 19:13

@Happyhedgehog, it sounds like that even with the reduced dose that things are looking good for you. So, fingers crossed for continued good results for you. Star

@HappyHedgehog247, thanks for sharing the article. I had heard that before as well, but like @Si1ver I would be horrified to know that a clinic would transfer a poor quality embryo with a good quality one. That just seems reckless!

AFM @findingmyfeet12, I'm 43...and counting. Fell pregnant naturally for the first time around this time last year when I was 42, after a very short period of TTC. But suffered a miscarriage at 7w5d. Due to my age, there was no point messing about, so gave myself a few more months of trying naturally before starting IVF. I had two ICSI cycles back to back to bank eggs to send off to testing.

Ended up with 2 good quality blasts and will hopefully be transferring one next week, if all looks good on Wednesday.

Summerloving17 · 23/04/2018 19:34

@findingmyfeet I’m almost 34, started TTC age 30, never had a period after coming off the pill, had multiple tests and was incorrectly diagnosed with PCOS and put on metformin for 6 months. Then saw different consultant and new diagnosis after a year. No ovulation on clomid (3 tries at max dose) moved to injectibles - 3 x iui on menopur (7 weeks to get an egg each time!) 1 x ectopic pregnancy and a long break to recover, onto ivf, 1st failed cycle this year, 3 frozen embryos left over so now into my first and hopefully last FET! Xx

@southernbella what a journey you have had. Wishing you all the luck in the world

@findingmyfeet I am 42

@summerloving thank you. Fingers crossed. Not expecting it to work first time but would love to be lucky enough to get some frozen embryos.

I am so tired I have booked tomorrow off work. Growing follicles seems to be hard work!

findingmyfeet12 · 23/04/2018 20:20

Wow we've all had tough journeys (I hate the word "journey" but you know what I mean).

A student of mine has recently told me she's pregnant. She's 42 and it's her third. She had her first at 38.

I'm feeling really fed up today. I'm dreading the trips to the hospital and all the expectations and counting follicles etc. I'm just so tired of it all now.

hoping2018 · 23/04/2018 21:07

@HappyHedgehog247 I really struggled last time and there's no way I could have worked - I've warned work I expect to be off for 2 weeks.

I did have lots of follies though - some people seem to sail through without noticing! Hopefully your tiredness means you've got lots too?!

hoping2018 · 23/04/2018 21:08

@HappyHedgehog247 just realised you know how many you've got! Keep channelling all your energy into growing them I say!!! Fingers crossed they all develop well

HappyHedgehog247 · 23/04/2018 21:14

Thanks @Hoping. It's just so frustrating about the medication mix up but keep reminding myself it only takes one. I'm off to acupuncture tomorrow and fertility massage on Thurs so the follies are being very nurtured!!!

@S1lver how did your first injection go?

Si1ver · 23/04/2018 21:19

@HappyHedgehog247 I was a bit pathetic and stressed about it, but I got it done. I'm feeling a bit strange now, but I imagine that's mainly psychosomatic. Thanks for asking.

I'm 37 @findingmyfeet12, I started TTC at 35. In the last two and half years I've had one MC at 8 weeks. My AMH is low (4.8) but nominally everything else looks fine. This is my first go at IVF.

windy2909 · 23/04/2018 21:29

@happyhedghog - glad you got good results from scan and the dosage didn’t mess with things too much.

I am 36, been trying for over 2 years, not a sniff of a positive result. First round of icsi resulted in freeze all and an awaiting period to have a natural fet, one of my two wee frozen embryos x

Sissi81 · 24/04/2018 11:10

Hi All,

Hope I can join this group too Smile?
Have started Norethisterone a week ago and on 2nd May have the baseline scan.
This is my first cycle (ICSI) and little bit scared about starting the injections next week.
Due to our situations clinic has suggested us to do a short protocol and freeze all ... so at the end would be anything but short as will have to wait extra time for PGS tests. Just hope it will goes well.

Good luck everyone Thanks

picklesandpetals · 24/04/2018 15:17

Hi ladies can I join this thread? A lot of you are going through the same as me albeit at different stages. I am about to start my short cycle protocol, think will start injections probably Thursday depending on AF. Interesting reading on differing advice received. My clinic has said all I need to take vitamin wise is pregnacare trying to conceive, which have been taking for last couple years, so will stick with that.

Sissi81 · 24/04/2018 16:44

Hi @picklesandpetals I'll should start my injections next Thursday (3rd May).

Is this your first cycle too?

Good luck

picklesandpetals · 24/04/2018 16:55

@Sissi81 hi. Yep first time/cycle. Bricking it thinking about injections but have been assured the gonal f don't hurt much at all so at least that's something! Is this your first cycle? What meds you on? Good luck too! xx

picklesandpetals · 24/04/2018 16:56

@Sissi81 doh!! Just read your message in the thread lol

Sissi81 · 24/04/2018 17:14

Hi @picklesandpetals yes this is my first cycle.
Currently on Norethisterone until Friday and then Thursday next week should start with benfola and Menopur. Confused

Fingers crossed.

windy2909 · 24/04/2018 21:33

Welcome to @sissi81 and @picklesandpetals!

Thinking of all you ladies with appointments and scans tomorrow. Wishing you the best of luck x

AniSL · 24/04/2018 21:35

I think the advice we get is so varied because they don't fully know themselves. Some will just simply follow other 'experts', other will pioneer their own research. In terms of the vitamins - it's always better to get your vitamins from natural sources, if you can't for whatever reason then a multi may be the only option, all my levels were good so perhaps that is why they advised against it, levels of vitamins that are too high can cause damage. I did read an article - albeit a bit old, after they told me not to - www.parents.com/pregnancy/everything-pregnancy/prenatal-multivitamins-can-raise-risk-of-miscarriage/
I get my meds tomorrow, I have a strange feeling that AF may cone early so may be starting on Monday

SouthernBella74 · 24/04/2018 22:05

@windy2909, thanks very much. 🤗

@Summerloving17, hopefully we both get good news tomorrow and we can stick to the plan. Good luck! 🍀

Welcome to the chat @sissi81 and @picklesandpetals. Hoping your first cycle goes as smoothly as possible.

Sissi81 · 24/04/2018 22:17

Thanks @SouthernBella74 and good luck for tomorrow!
