Hi ladies, just wondered if anyone wants to hold hands as we go through a cycle?

After a failed fresh cycle earlier this year, I’m starting my progynova today with a planned FET for May.

Would love some company x

Great news Si1ver! And welcome Pony. Hope AF comes soon for those of you waiting x

AniSL · 29/04/2018 13:34

What advice have you all been given for what is day 1 of your cycle? NHS clinic advised it was the first day of my AF. Private clinic advised it was the first day you wake up with AF

bangsaklove · 29/04/2018 15:49

Bit late to the party...but can I join you ladies? This is My 1st ever ivf..I am 39 and on day 8 of burserelin :-) x

SouthernBella74 · 29/04/2018 17:15

@AniSL, my clinic counts CD1 as the first day of free flow before 1300. I managed to get lucky with AF arriving in the evening, so didn't have this added stress! Hopefully AF will arrive for you this week...and in the evening!

Welcome @Ponypals and @bangsaklove Smile

Hope everyone is having a relaxing Sunday and coping with injections or waiting, depending on where you are in your cycles.[start]

Cobblestones · 29/04/2018 17:37

@AniSL I was told the same as southernbella. Needs to be a proper flow though. Ie red. A bit tmi. Sorry!

Ladies are you taking time off work? I have a desk job but can get stressful and the commute isn’t easy. I’d like to take off starting a couple of days before EC and Upto a week after transfer. Though I’m not too good with sitting at home with nothing to do. Any advice would be very welcome. Would the GP or the hospital sign off if I did want to take it?

windy2909 · 29/04/2018 18:01

Hello everyone and welcome to @ponypals and @bangsaklove! Another Sunday evening....where does the weekend go?!

@cobblestones - it’s a tough one with the work thing isn’t it. I have to say I’d be tempted to take as much time as possible and to relax and avoid stress after transfer but there’s the worry of being off and also for me, this is my first cycle and we’ve paid for 3. If we have to do all 3 cycles then that’s a lot of time off. I’m having a fet so thinking of just taking day of transfer off.

@AniSL my clinic just states the first day you have full flow. They have never mentioned a cut off time in the day to me.

@happyhedgehog hope you’re feeling good and all set for tomorrow? Everything crossed that you get a good result 🤞.

Summerloving17 · 29/04/2018 18:03

Welcome @Ponypals and @Banksalore!

ansil same as Southernbella said too

@Cobblestones, yes I took time off work as have a 3 hour round commute and wasn’t enjoying my job. I found it really hard trying to fit in appointments and scans with my three iuis and wanted to give everything to the ivf. I also didn’t take any time off with my ectopic pregnancy when I should have so didn’t want to regret it. I spoke to my GP about getting signed off and she said I could if I went in day before egg collection and then would have to go back weekly to be reassessed. I just didn’t want to do that when I had sabbatical option. Even though my fresh cycle didn’t work im glad I did as I found it incredibly uncomfortable towards end of stims and post egg collection. I am going back to work week after next but have luckily squeezed in a FET just before so praying this works!!!

I’m feeling really sorry for myself as the progesterone injections are just hell! I’m so sore and crampy, I thought cyclogest was bad 🤦‍♀️ Better be worth it!! I am already trying to decide whether to test 5d 6d or 7d post transfer 🙈

Xx

Welcome bangsaklove

Thank you SouthernBella and cobblestones. My private clinic said the morning I wake up with AF, my usual AF commences late afternoon and is always red and flowing, I only have a 4 day AF. My NHS clinic always said the first day was the first day of the bleed. I guess it's just another example of the differences between clinics

bangsaklove · 29/04/2018 18:09

Thank you southernbella74.
Cobblestones I am in a similar position stressful job albeit in an office and commute. I suffer with endometriosis so not looking forward to stimming! At that point I may need some time off. I was thinking of getting GP to sign me off from EC for a few weeks regardless as no way will be able to work normally after transfer without being mega stressed emotionally.
It would be useful to know if the hospital can do this from other ladies or is it solely the GP x

SouthernBella74 · 29/04/2018 19:44

I'm only taking the day of my FET (Tuesday) off. I take an evening class, so will still go to that and be back at work on Wednesday. At least that's the plan, if I don't feel up to it, I'll just have to think of something else.

I came across a YouTube video from Sher Fertility (I believe it's in the US) and Nurse Linda says just to carry on as normal...as long as your normal isn't doing anything silly! So, that's what I've decided to do. I'd go crazy being home anyway, so plan to just continue with my normal schedule.

Oh, @Summberloving17, I'm sorry you're having a rubbish time with the injections. Just think, Wednesday will be here before you know it, so just focus on that and not the side effects. Smile

HappyHedgehog247 · 29/04/2018 19:57

Hi everyone!
@summerloving sorry the injections are horrid. How many more days?

@cobblestones I've booked this week off so from egg collection day through to transfer (latest Sat I think) and then as bank holiday will give me 2 days after transfer. I thought I'd go mad if I was off during tww! I've only booked 2 days as medical leave though and taking the other 3 as holiday.

Welcome @bangsaklove.

Thanks for your message @windy. I'm all ready for ec. Just need to remember not to have my morning cup of tea which I make on autopilot. Quite bloated today. Looking forward to it being over!

HappyHedgehog247 · 29/04/2018 19:58

And how are you doing @windy2909?

Si1ver · 29/04/2018 20:31

@HappyHedgehog247 is your EC tomorrow? Good luck!

I'm abroad for mine, so I've got from 2nd to 13th off then I'm back to work.

HappyHedgehog247 · 29/04/2018 20:50

It is indeed Si1ver. I'm not looking forward to it and yet want it over at the same time. I think I am more nervous about the call on Tuesday about whether any eggs have fertilised! Abroad sounds nice.

AniSL · 29/04/2018 21:10

Happyhedgehog good luck

Si1ver good luck with yours too.

Still waiting for AF but I have the 10th to 21st off as my EC and implantation is overseas too. Doubled it up with a holiday as I work in an office which isn't the nicest environment either.

picklesandpetals · 29/04/2018 21:18

@AniSL when you due AF? My clinic, private, says day one has to be full bleed and from the morning, if that fuller flow starts after lunch that's not day one. I had a couple of conversations with my clinic and described flow and colour and went with their opinion on day one. I'm 3 days into injections and not enjoying them tbh. Getting OH to administer them though 😜. Can understand how it goes against the grain with your work. Day one didn't hurt but large bruise, day two hurt but no bruise, tonight I have a large scratch across tummy.

I noticed from day one pinching sensations in tummy and breast pain

I've been putting a heat pack on as I have read it helps distribute the drugs

AniSL · 29/04/2018 21:46

Thanks picklesandpetals

Expecting AF on Tuesday but day 1 will be Wednesday so probably start injections on Thursday. Will have to wait and see I guess. I plan to get OH to administer them too, he's done it before in his previous marriage. He injected in his ex's legs though. Not looking forward to it. Thanks for the advice on AF.

hoping2018 · 29/04/2018 21:46

Hi all!

It's been busy on here!

I'm on day 4 of stims and already finding clothes uncomfortable and after a big dinner this evening even breathing seems harder - they're not meant to be giving me as much drugs this time as I was overstimulated last time with 32 follies! Fingers crossed I'm not too uncomfy by EC.

Last cycle I swapped days round (I do shift work) and took some annual leave and just took EC as one sick day. But I was soooo uncomfortable (my ovaries were so large they were touching in the middle and I didn't fit in any clothes!) that I should have taken it as sick leave. This time I've told work not to expect me in from my day 9 of stims scan for two weeks and said I'd get a sick note from the GP.

Rules are that you self certify for 7 days and from day 8 onwards you need a note from the GP.

@HappyHedgehog247 you seem to be leading the front with first for EC? Hope it all goes well for you! Xxx

HappyHedgehog247 · 29/04/2018 22:31

Thank you @hoping.

Those of you who have done this before-what did you wear to egg collection? Can you keep your top half on under gown or do you have to fully strip? I'm assuming my tummy might be a bit sore after so thinking a comfy slouchy dress or tracksuit bottoms rather than jeans/trousers that might be tighter?

picklesandpetals · 29/04/2018 22:34

@hoping2018 I'm so bloated too! Day 3 of stims for me.

@HappyHedgehog247 good luck for tomorrow hope all goes well

@PonyPals welcome. What protocol are you on? Good luck with starting

Anyone else had cetrotide injections? And how have you got on with them? Understand they are painful from what I've read and the nurse has said. Any tips?

windy2909 · 29/04/2018 22:46

Sorry picklesandpetals, have no experience of cetrotide but hopefully some of the others will be able to advise.

@happyhedgehog - I am soldiering on and trying to pretend I have the patience of a saint 😇. Thanks for asking. For egg collection defo go for comfort and if you’re anything like I was - that you can actually get on 😜. I just wore comfy trousers with an elasticated waist and loose, comfy top. Stripped off in room and wore bra and night shirt for procedure x

PonyPals · 30/04/2018 02:59

I picked up all my drugs. Two bags full!
I'm on the short protocol. Gonal F 250

SouthernBella74 · 30/04/2018 07:09

@HappyHedgehog247, good luck with EC today! Hoping for good quality eggs and a good fertilisation rate. Star

I think I wore jeggings to my ECs and had to remove everything except for my bra during the procedure. I'm sure it'll all be fine and, if you have sedation like me, sleep right through it! Smile

hoping2018 · 30/04/2018 07:29

@HappyHedgehog247 good luck! I couldn't really fit in anything but leggings and even then I had to roll them down as they wouldn't go round my waist! Kept my bra on but nothing else.

@picklesandpetals that's a good sign something is happening at least!

It'd gotten so busy on here I'm a bit confused where everyone is up to but hope all injections and scans go well! Fingers crossed for a lucky thread xx

SouthernBella74 · 30/04/2018 07:36

Great news, @PonyPals.

I was on the short protocol as well and it went quickly, thankfully. Smile
