Hello everyone. I've just been reading your posts. I hope you don't mind me joining. It's so nice to hear other people's journeys and experiences. We've been to our first pretreatment consultation and because of where I am at the moment in my cycle they've said we'll have to start the ICSI treatment in my next cycle so the plan is to hopefully start the medication the end of May. I've found this journey difficult as I don't know anyone else who is or has gone through this and my friends and family don't really understand how it feels so it's nice to see others who are going through the same as me and my husband Smile

Janefx40 · 20/04/2018 08:00

Hi @Bumblebeebump welcome. It isn't an easy journey although I'm finding it easier now - on my second cycle of ICSI. It takes a bit of getting used to but there is a relief in finally being with the Drs who can help. You can stop worrying about pushing for tests or diagnoses because you've got the help you need.

I found the actual IVF/ICSI bit easier than I was expecting. I was terrified of every stage - every injection, every procedure but they were all fine. I won't lie, the hard bit was when it didn't work. But we are all more resilient than we realise.

It's a nice gang here. Lots of people seem to have just finished a round at the moment but there are a few waiting to start like you

Now on day 5 of my second cycle. Stims hormones put me in a very good mood which is a bonus!! Blood test today to see how I am responding.

Xxx

It is interesting to hear how different clinics do things!

So I'm feeling less sore today although still needing paracetamol and having to take things easier than I normally do. The pain is more in my left side and around my lower back but it seems to be easing which is positive.

I have just received a phone call from the embryologist who said that 12 of the 15 have fertilised which is fab news. BUT she said she's been told its a 'freeze all' cycle. I have tried to explain the other nurses came to see me and said it I could have a fresh transfer as I'm not at risk of OHSS and they gave me the HCG shot but she said no it's definitely a freeze all. She said she's going to speak to the clinic. I find it so frustrating as even though I have one consultant - it is always a different nurse that scans me or meets with me and so I feel like messages get lost in translation!

@bumblebeebump welcome - I have found these types of forums really helpful to answer questions and just generally talk to people who are going through the same thing.

@Jane good luck with your blood test results!

Liverpool19 · 20/04/2018 17:43

elly did you get back in touch with the clinic to find out what’s going on?
Welcome bumblebee and goodluck
jane how did you get on? Xx

Elly1685 · 20/04/2018 19:38

liverpool yes the embryologist rang back, they ARE doing a fresh transfer, she thinks it will be Tuesday not sunday. Good job I questioned it! X

Liverpool19 · 20/04/2018 19:41

Great news elly transfer is easy. Doesn’t take long at all xx

swimchick1980 · 20/04/2018 21:07

Hello everyone, just thought I'd check in and say hi. Hope you're all doing ok. Welcome to the new joiners and glad to hear that everyone seems to be progressing in one form or another, even if it's appointment time. I'm rooting for everyone and hope you all get your babies one way or another.

I've made it to 10 weeks today and almost had to throw up in a bucket at the train station there so symptoms still there. It was around this time last time that I had my MC so I am still mixing excitement with fear! We have still managed not to tell anyone IRL which is getting harder and still have almost 4 weeks to go as my scan's so late, I'll be the size of a house if I get that far!

Happy Friday and happy journeys to all Smile

Janefx40 · 20/04/2018 23:29

@swimchick1980 lovely to hear from you. 10 weeks already. Fingers crossed for a safe passage through to the 14 weeks scan.

@Elly1685 so glad it is going ahead. Shame you were caused unnecessary stress though.

@Liverpool19 thanks for asking. My bloods came back with super high estrogen...again. Exactly the same as last time but even higher this cycle.

So they have reduced my dose of menopur but not scanning me until Sunday. I know my previous clinic was overkill but I do find this one a bit too lax.

Also I'm only starting cetrotide tomorrow - hope it's not too late. Last time I took it from day 3. Tomorrow is day 6.

So we shall see...looking forward to the scan
Xxx

Beherenow32 · 21/04/2018 07:58

@Janefx40 hi! Can I ask why they changed your dosage of menopur? My last cycle, I was on the highest dose, and my oestrogen levels went dangerously high, so they done egg collection earlier. The eggs were obviously not ready at that point. I’m just wondering if they could have reduced my dosage for a couple of days instead. The hospital basically said it’s my body’s fault for the reaction. I’m just worrying if they are the best place for me to be...

Hope your coping with the hormones ok! Xx

Janefx40 · 21/04/2018 08:45

Hi @Beherenow32 they have lowered my dose because my body is showing signs of over responding. I was at a different clinic for the previous cycle and they did the same thing - it was a different drug so hard to compare doses but superficially it seems like a similar reduction. At my last clinic they also triggered me on treatment day 8.

This clinic haven't drained my cysts so I'm hoping that doesn't mess up my egg collection. But other than that I seem to be following a similar pattern.

I'm about 10 years older than you so it may be that they take a different tack with older women?!

You're not in London are you? I only know the London clinics

Xxx

Beherenow32 · 21/04/2018 09:50

Thanks! Not on London, no. I don’t have much choice for clinics here, and would have to travel out of town for another. I don’t understand why they didn’t lower my dose when I was over responding, and let me carry on for a few days longer? There probably is a reason, but it hasn’t been made clear to us. Just being told that it’s because I have poor egg quality, and that my AMH was below average. I thought this reflected egg reserves not quality... just not feeling too confident atm.

Sounds like you’re in good hands. Hope you’re feeling ok xx

ivyf · 21/04/2018 10:40

Hello,

I just though I would post an update following my first app at the Centre For Life in Newcastle! I was feeling a bit sick - although I have researched - it still worries you doesn't it - the unknown!!! Anyway they were lovely - it was just a chat and then I had some bloods done and a scan!

The chat was just a run through of medical history and also to make sure we realised that they couldn't guarantee it would work! I also had a couple of questions which she covered!

I need to loose a little weight (but not much) so I will go back in 4 weeks get the results of my bloods etc and see where we go from there!

Husbands sperm was normal and actually my scan showed that my body was actually doing what it should be doing ... naturally .... this month!!! So that's good!!

All in all I am feeling very positive and hopefully things will work out! Smile

xx

Ginandtonic31 · 21/04/2018 16:48

Hi all, I haven't been on in a while as not much happening so just drop in and out. I'll try and catch up! I have a holiday in two weeks' time then start injections when I'm back.

Bumblebeebump · 21/04/2018 18:10

Thanks all for the welcome. It's so nice reading everyone's experiences and journeys. Ginandtonic31 sounds like we might be starting our injections around the same time. Are you doing IVF or ICSI?

Liverpool19 · 21/04/2018 19:42

ivfy that sounds really positive 🤞🏼
jane goodluck for tomorrow
swim nice to hear from you, 10 weeks well done. I’m sure everything will be fine!
becky how are you? Haven’t heard from you for a couple of weeks.
aliona you ok?
I have my scan on Tuesday a day before I am 8 weeks. I’m feeling a couple of twinges here and there mainly of a night! And only feeling sick on and off, nothing major!

Hope everyone else is well.

Xx

Ginandtonic31 · 21/04/2018 19:58

Hi @bumblebeebump I think I will be doing ICSI as we are having PGD where they biopsy the embryos and screen them for s genetic disorder that my husband carries. My next appointment is this Thursday and then I should be starting injections around 3rd June. X

Bumblebeebump · 21/04/2018 20:31

@Ginandtonic31 we are doing ICSI too. We've got our next appointment on the 9th May with the plan to start the injections at the end of May. Sounds like we'll be starting around the same time. Is this your first treatment?

Elly1685 · 22/04/2018 19:57

@Ivyf I'm so pleased your first appointment was a positive one.

So I was told by the embryologist on Friday that they are going for a day5 transfer as 12 had fertilised and if I didn't hear from them today it would definitely be a transfer on Tuesday.

I have been literally holding my breath today hoping that I wouldn't get a call from them and I haven't. The only thing I'm unsure about is that lots of other people seem to know their day quality day by day and how many they have left. Is it normal to not hear anything from Friday to Tuesday? My biggest worry is that I go to transfer on Tuesday and there is only one blastocycst and the others haven't developed.

Do you think I should ring tomorrow for an update?

Liverpool19 · 22/04/2018 20:32

elly I didn’t hear anything about mine either so I wouldn’t worry. If there was a problem I’m sure they would call you. My clinic didn’t give me any grades of the eggs or anything. Just relax xx

Elly1685 · 22/04/2018 21:19

That’s really reassuring Liverpool, thanks! Im going by the theory ‘no news is good news’ :)

Winnie56 · 23/04/2018 07:23

Hi elly

My clinic did keep in contact but she also said if we don't get round to contacting you nothing is wrong. So definitely in this case 'no news is good news'

I'm currently on 6dpo5dt and really struggling with the waiting. When did you start testing and when did you get a positive?

Hoppy1985 · 23/04/2018 07:35

Hi @Winnie56 I definitely found this part the hardest because you're thinking about it all the time. I waited until the day the clinic told me to test because I knew if I'd done it early and it was positive I'd worry it was a false positive and if it was negative I could potentially be upset for no reason just because I tested early. They told me to test the 11 morning. Try and hold out for your own mental well-being!!

Janefx40 · 23/04/2018 08:39

@Winnie56 good luck! It's so hard holding out.

@Elly1685 clinics are all difference but it makes no difference whether you know daily progress or not - sometimes less info is less stressful I think

We messed up my cetrotide for the second day running! That stuff is a nightmare. Last cycle was the same. Yesterday DP was preparing it and managed to squirt half the saline across the room! So we had to throw it away. Today he took over from me as I couldn't get it all out of the vial and didn't realise the plunger was nearly all the way out and he lost half of it out the end!!!

Feel like I'm about to pop but clinic not even seeing me until Tuesday. They are so lax compared to my last place!

Hope everyone is ok xxx

Hunter14 · 23/04/2018 22:23

Hi All.
I had 5 day transfer on Saturday. One embryo of good quality 4BA. This is my first round of IVF with donor sperm. Collection went well with 12 taken, 8 fertilised, 3 frozen.
I’m in this 2WW now and already going crazy.... I’ve had cramping, am super tired and had a few dizzy spells.
I keep talking to my belly to encourage implantation. So hoping this works. Any tips?
Hope everyone is doing well...

Winnie56 · 24/04/2018 07:37

Ladies I have a confession to make I tested early this morning I just couldn't hold the need to do it anymore.

I am 7dpo5dt can I take this result or could it be the trigger I took on 10/4 at 22:45 still
