Hi winnie I got no information from my GP the only reason I am where I am today is because and kicked, screamed and had a meltdown in the surgery to be referred. With regards to the consultants, in my clinic we had a one on one session for bloods etc, then I had another appointment for my lap and dye results. This was when I was referred for ivf. We were then called into the hospital to be told the protocol we would be on and I seen about 6 different nurses who told me each step.
Maybe your clinic does things different? Mine couldn’t of been more informative. I am under the Hewitt centre in the Liverpool women’s.

Xx

minister this is fantastic news. Xx

Hi @Winnie56,

Oh bless you sweetie, you seem to be in a bit of a pickle! It is very hard to leave all the decisions to all the experts with EVERYTHING, but they actually do know what they are doing and so many people do IVF/ICSI nowadays. We had a few ladies on here that had quite a few follicles, don't remember how many, and they were fine, some had to stop, some had to have their embryos frozen to let the ovaries rest and planned for a FET. A short protocol would be probably to stimulate your follicles for a short period of time, and the dosage is probably medium, I would assume. Just remember that you will be monitored very closely and have regular scans/blood tests (depending on you the hospital/clinic). So really what I am saying is although it is all daunting, it is controlled, you will however meet morons who will worry you, but remember your goal.

45 however is a few, so if you wanted to ask questions, ask away! If you saw a Consultant then the next step is the Planning Nurse so I don't believe you missed an appointment sweetie Smile.

Do you know the dosage of your stimms and what you will need to take?

Do you have a plan, when you are starting, how often will you get a scan, blood tests?

Just collect all your worries and form questions and send them.

The ladies on here are amazing, you are not on your own!

Lots of love,

XXX

Liverpool19 I was very lucky with my GP she referred me instantly. I have just had problems with communication with Barts. I feel like I have missed the appointment where they say right okay we are going to do IVF and we have chosen this protocol because of x y z. And then let me ask some questions if I had any. Rather than finish the testing which led on to a phone conversation with a nurse telling me what treatment process they were going to go ahead with followed by an information session with a large group of people. The meeting with the nurse after didn't really give me a chance to ask any personal questions and I just feel like I have been rushed. Or maybe it is just me being sensitive and nervous.

Starlumiere - thank you so much for your message.

My IVF Schedule says the below (no mention of bloods).
Day 1,2 or 3 Baseline ultrasound scan
Day 2-6 Stimulation Injection (Nurse said I will be taught how to do this on my baseline scan so potentially may not start taking it until day 3) Add Cetrotide injections as instructed
Day 7 Ultrasound scan
Day 8 – 10 Injections as instructed
Day 11 Ultrasound scan, Stimulation injection, Take Cetrotide injection as usual. Please confirm with the nurse you have an Ovitrelle (Trigger) injection in your fridge (green and white box)
I will be informed on Day 11 afternoon about the timing of my egg collection if ready

Medication:
Ovitrelle 250
Gonal F 900 IU 1.5ml
Cetrotide 0.25
Crinome vaginal gel 8% (really looking forward to this)

@Minster2012 this is amazing news! You have 3 frozen now in all (plus one bun in the oven!). You can relax now - you've done it!!

Janefx40 · 22/03/2018 17:49

@Winnie56 I came onto this thread in a panic not long ago when I got a call from a nurse saying I was going to be on a short protocol. The consultant had said it would probably be a long one so I was worried and confused ! I got lots of reassurance from these ladies and they were right.

Now you are at the clinic you have to trust them to make the decisions. They will pick the best protocol for you. It's quite normal to speak to a nurse but it will have been a consultant who made the decision.

I found it quite hard to switch off - I'd spent a while fighting - for tests, for referrals, so it was hard to just hand it over to them and trust them. But, to be honest, it's all you can do.

If you have questions tho, you should definitely ask them. You may have to keep calling until you get through to someone who can help - but a senior nurse may be able to answer your questions perfectly well - it may not need to be a consultant.

Good luck - it's a scary time but exciting too. Finally you are at a place that can really really help!

Xxx

Liverpool19 · 22/03/2018 17:51

I was on the short protocol winnie and never got a reason why but not sure if this is the norm 🤷🏼‍♀️ Ask at your base line scan and don’t leave until all your questions have been answered! Xx

Winnie56 · 22/03/2018 18:39

Thank you ladies for all your reassurance.

If any other ladies had lots of follicles before starting IVF I would like to hear how your cycle went if you don't mind sharing?

wombats · 23/03/2018 05:02

Hi girls, I've gone and tested and had a bit of a squinter. 6dp5dt, line showed around 2 min, so not likely to be evap? Should I worry about a chemical or is it just early? Test says sensitive to 25 hcg level.

Aliona19 · 23/03/2018 06:19

Wombats 😂😂 are you my long lost sister?! Haha u tested even earlier than I did 😂 it’s too early!! But yay ❤️

Winnie56 hey 👋🏼 I don’t have syndrome but polycystic too. 20+ on one side and same on the other. We got just over 20 eggs, but doctors straight away we’re going for Fet just in case of overstimulation. And after EC I was still injecting myself for a week, to calm everything down x

Congrats Minster, after all you bode done a good job 👍🏻

Dinksandbinks You see, it’s not even that I am feeling so bad, at the end of the day I am not throwing up or anything, just tired, I m going to bed like 8 pm, and I am very angry all the time, so irritable, I just want to lock myself in a room and come out 9 month later..and get very annoyed even when my oh trying to be nice and keep talking about baby.. I don’t even know if everything ok, I don’t want anyone to talk about my pregnancy 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ proper grumpy

Thank u Jane and Star, I will moan away 😅

wombats · 23/03/2018 07:05

@aliona, ha ha, I've always thought I might have a long lost sister. Glad we've finally reunited here Grin Feel free to moan, I'm sure pregnancy isn't easy especially after IVF!

@winnie, I haven't had PCOS but have read that they may recommend freeze-all if you're overstimulated and some degree of OHSS is to be expected. They will be well prepared for it, though, so you will certainly be in good hands.

@minister, fab news for your frosties!

@dinks, I'm new to the thread, but love to hear from grads, as it gives me a bit of hope. Sorry you're feeling so poorly but glad those hormones are flowing and growing your baby safely Smile

Not sure how I'm going to make it through the day now. Tested early as travelling for a wedding next week and wanted to prepare but ever so nervous now. Posting another photo of the test in better light. Reckon I will wait another two days to give time for hcg to rise. My OTD is not until Weds, should I ring my clinic to let them know or hold off until I'm closer to the date? xxx

Liverpool19 · 23/03/2018 07:30

wombie you are funny 😂 I wouldn’t call just yet as I am sure they will tell you to do it again on the day. I hope it stays for you 🤞🏼

Today I have a tiny bit of light pink when I wipe when I go the toilet. Today is day 5.

Xx

Starlumiere · 23/03/2018 07:32

Hi Eveybody and happy Friday!!!

@Wombats you made me laugh so much 😂😂😂😂!!! As Alyona said it is quite early but it looks positive sweetie!! I am telling you this IVF journey is truly crazy!!! I think I would wait to get closer to the date, before calling the hospital/clinic. One thing though, try not to drive yourself up the wall. You wanted to test, you did and yes there is a line. Leave it for another 2 days but don’t dwell on it too much otherwise you won’t have a nice WE. Smile it looks good honey!! 😜😘

@Winnie56 your plan seems very clear, injecting is so very easy you will see. If you would feel more at ease with more scans then ask if possible, but it looks like you are looked after well. Your meds dosage is medium, we have the same meds, albeit the gel, but mine is maximum because of my 44 young age 😜. So I would say you are more or less ready sweetie! When are you expecting your AF?

@Liverpool19 how are you sweetie? Tempted after Wombats test? 😜

Wishing you all a fabulous day!’m🍀🙏🏻🌟💫🌹😍😘😘😘

Wowww @Liverpool19 could be implantation!!’ Exciting!!! You good sweetie? 😘

Liverpool19 · 23/03/2018 07:48

star not tempted just yet although I will be soon 😂 I’m ok thank you all these signs are driving me mad because it could go either way 😂😂 enjoy your weekend 😘

Janefx40 · 23/03/2018 09:22

Morning ladies. @Liverpool19 yes could be implantation. If so, you won't have enough hcg for a test for about 3-4 days at least so try to resist the urge!

@wombats looks like a good sign but it is super early. It wouldn't be a sign of a chemical that it is faint as you wouldn't expect a level of 25 iu so early necessarily anyway. Everything is good but as the ladies said, wait a few days if you can....

Xxx

Liverpool19 · 23/03/2018 09:32

Thank you jane I’m clueless when it comes to all this stuff 😂 xx

Janefx40 · 23/03/2018 10:05

Here's a guide to what happens post 5dt. If you had a 3dt just add two days on!

becky114 · 23/03/2018 10:17

Hi ladies, can I join to. I'm day 2 post transfer. Already overthinking every sensation, or lack of sensation lol 😂 in my case. People talk of cramping but I have had nothing! My test is next Friday but may test Wednesday to. Xxx

Minster2012 · 23/03/2018 11:04

@wombats and @liverpool19 stay strong ladies and wait it out for a couple more days 💕🙈

XstephanieX · 23/03/2018 11:27

Hi Ladies,
I have been reading various threads for a while but thought I'd take the plunge and join in! We're on our first round of ICSI (hubby's sperm low on all counts) & I'm on Day 7 of Buserelin. Have been feeling super low since yesterday and cried last night for no obvious reason :( Thought it may help to talk to others in the same situation as I feel I'm going a bit bonkers!!
Wishing everyone all the luck in the world for your cycles :) x

Liverpool19 · 23/03/2018 12:06

Hi becky we have the same test day 🤞🏼🤞🏼Some people don’t have any cramps etc so don’t worry
Hi stephanie I didn’t have that but I was emotional some days. I cried because I didn’t want to go to work one day and cried because I dropped my drink. I’m not really a crier either. So it’ll just be your hormones. You’ll have good days and bad days. Just take it as it comes.

Xx

Winnie56 · 23/03/2018 12:34

Aliona19: Thank you for sharing. How long did you have to wait until your FET? What part of the cycle did they tell you they were planning to do this? How did you feel with 20 follicles each side? Is your pregnancy now from this FET cycle? Blush sorry for all the questions

Wombats: Good Luck I hope it stays for you.

Starlumiere: I am due over Easter weekend some time. I alternate between having a 27 or 29-day cycle it seems. If the pattern continues my period should be due Sunday.

Starlumiere · 23/03/2018 12:39

Hi @Becky114! Welcome to the thread! Yes the 2 WW is very challenging indeed, but it is also true that no 2 women have the same symptoms, if any! @Dbear did not have any and still don't have any now at 9 weeks, so try not to worry sweetie.

Hi @XstephanieX Welcome to the thread as well! Never took Buserelin but @Aliona & @Dbear I know they did and found it really challenging sweetie. Hang in there!

Love to all!
