I didn't have general just a sedation. I only remember the first 5 minutes and then I fell asleep. I was uncomfortable until I did this but wouldn't say I was in pain or that it was unbearable

Aliona19 · 19/04/2018 05:57

Elly1685 Hey, don’t worry at all. I had sedation and was absolutely terrified. But last thing I remember was laying under blanket waiting to be taken in and then woke up and couldn’t belive it’s all been done already 😅 they even put my legs up in the air while I was asleep so no embarrassing memories whatsoever. So don’t you worry about it x

Elly1685 · 19/04/2018 06:49

Thanks again! It’s so ridiculous how worried you get about things isn’t it! I just don’t like attention and not being in control. I’ve woken up this morning SOOO hungry too!! I never want food this time of morning but today I’m starving! I think it’s because i known that I can’t eat that I want to Grin x

Liverpool19 · 19/04/2018 07:13

Good luck elly I had sedation as soon as the mask went on I was asleep. Best nap I’ve ever had 😂😂 there’s really nothing to worry about with it. Xx

Winnie56 · 19/04/2018 07:18

Elly good luck today. The thought of it is a lot worse then having it done. Let us know how you get on xx

Typical I have gone down with a cold. Anyone know if this will affect the embryo implanting? Or any safe remedies I can take. Feeling really worried and anxious.

Hoppy1985 · 19/04/2018 07:27

@Elly1685 forgot to say I also had sedation rather than GA. good luck lovely, you will be fine.

@Liverpool19 I'm also a crank, had to do another test last night!

Hoppy1985 · 19/04/2018 07:28

@Winnie56 I was really poorly the week I had my transfer (I had actually been off work which is pretty unheard of for me) so I wouldn't worry.

Liverpool19 · 19/04/2018 08:02

winnie I wouldn’t worry. I’ve had a cold for the past week and a half and a cough and the pharmacy told me I could of take simple linctus for my cough and paracetamol 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’ve also now got a cold sore haven’t had one for two years. This raspberry inside of me is robbing me of all my good stuff 😂 xx

Winnie56 · 19/04/2018 08:07

Thanks ladies. I very rarely get colds it's bloody typical.
It's probs my down to feeling run down over the last couple of weeks.

Winnie56 · 19/04/2018 08:39

I've just realised after getting to work I have forgotten to put a crinone gel in this morning. Do I ring the clinic or just put on in tonight?

Beetroot01 · 19/04/2018 09:26

Elly good luck!

Janefx40 · 19/04/2018 09:30

@Winnie56 I'm not sure tbh. How far from home are you? If there are options for getting hold of it, I probably would but if not then I expect you will be fine. I'd probably call the clinic to check but then I am a checker!!

Sorry I'm no use at all. Let us know what you decide to do

@ivyf welcome back. Hope it goes well today. Not in Newcastle I'm afraid so can't help.

@Elly1685 hope it went ok
Xxx

Liverpool19 · 19/04/2018 10:09

Welcome ivfy I cant help sorry but goodluck today. Xx

ivyf · 19/04/2018 11:49

Thank you @Liverpool19 & @Janefx40 - I know everyone's will be different! Just feel sick but also excited! It's wonderful reading all about your experiences so thank you to everyone for sharing 😍 xx

Elly1685 · 19/04/2018 12:06

Thanks everyone. Just had egg collection and they decided to do it under sedation. I was pretty nervous going into theatre but like you all said it was over in the blink of an eye.
They managed to collect 15 eggs which is fab news AND they are happy to go with a fresh transfer on Sunday or Tuesday Shock.

Sat in the discharge room now waiting to go home. Slight discomfort and it feels like severe period pain but nothing that I can’t cope with. Any advice for the days between collection and transfer?

Liverpool19 · 19/04/2018 12:10

elly that’s brilliant! Nothing really just drink water and chill! Great news about the transfer too. Xx

Janefx40 · 19/04/2018 12:20

Well done @Elly1685 and great news re transfer. Drink water (but literally loads). DON'T eat pizza or anything that makes you bloat. Coconut water is also good.

Chill and feel proud of your amazing body!!!

Hi girls,

Just caught up on what has been going on. So happy to see the pregnancies are all going well.
Hello to new girls as well 👋

AFM I had an appointment with my FS today and she said the following:

Now that I am almost 37 she would like to start me on 300 gonal f (was 125 gonal f 3 years ago).
She advised that my egg quality drops from 68% normal embryos to 50% normal embryos so we can consider PGS.
We can decide if we are to go ahead with PGS once we know how many embryos survive post day 5. It costs$700 per embryo to test.

We will hopefully transfer a fresh one and then test and freeze the rest.
No idea how many we will actually get now that I am older but when I was 34 we got 14 eggs and then out of those only 2 blastocysts (5d). 1 was BPF and 1 was BFN.

Now just have to wait for my period to start and we will begin injections!!!

XstephanieX · 19/04/2018 14:33

Hi ladies, sorry I've been away for a bit, have had so much going on this past week! Hope everyone is doing okay and welcome to the new girls
We had our scan yesterday (ahead of EC on Monday) and they can't see my right ovary as I have a large cyst (which I've had for years) and could only see 3 follicles on my left. I felt so upset yesterday as I was really hoping for a few more to give us the best chance possible (and maybe some to freeze!) but feeling a lot better now. Just trying to stay positive and hope there are some hidden on my right ovary and trying to remember its quality not quantity!
Waiting for a call this afternoon to see if we are still going ahead with EC on Mon or if they want me to continue Menopur for a few more days.
@ivyf I'm at the Centre for Life too :) I've found them to be great so far, our first appointment was just to introduce us to the process and find out what tests we needed to do etc. We started our treatment within a few months of our first appointment
X

Winnie56 · 19/04/2018 14:47

Elly that's great news.

Finally got through to the clinic no need to stress about being ill or forgetting to take my meds.

Elly1685 · 19/04/2018 16:05

I am so relieved that I got a good collection. Just awaiting that phone call tomorrow now which I’m told I should get before midday!

Does anyone know .... they may do a transfer day 3 or day 5, so at what point do they freeze the remaining eggs? Do they see how they develop and try and freeze them day 5? Or if they do a day 3 transfer will they freeze them all day 3? I’m just intrigued with the whole process!

Elly1685 · 19/04/2018 16:08

Oops posted too soon.

stephanie everyone keeps saying it’s quality not quantity and although I had 15 eggs, I’ve read so many posts about people who got 3 and they got their BFP. It just takes one special egg :) x

winnie gladyou don’t need to worry about meds. It’s hard isn’t it when you’ve got so much to remember.

Liverpool19 · 19/04/2018 16:18

I had a day 5 transfer and they let 4 of mine grow one more day and I got a letter a week later saying all of them had made it into the freezer. I think it just depends how well they develop elly

Xx

Winnie56 · 19/04/2018 17:01

I think it may depend on the clinic the process. If you only have a small amount of eggs fertilised say 2 -3 they will most likely do a day 3 transfer as they won't want to risk some not surviving to day 5.
If you have a lot of eggs still around on day 3 they will probably try to push them to day 5.

I had 13 eggs collected, 7 around on day 3 and good quality. Decided to do day 5 transfer, had one put in and 5 frozen. The other stopped growing

Janefx40 · 19/04/2018 17:21

@Elly1685 they don't freeze them before day 5. You can have an earlier transfer but those left, they will wait and see if they get to day 5 then freeze.

We had 14 eggs, 5 fertilised (because it turned out we had a particular problem), 3 x 3 day transfer, 1 arrested at day 4 and 1 frozen at day 5
