Hi All,

Sorry to gatecrash your thread but everyone seems so knowledgable...and some exciting BFP's by the looks of it :)

Congratulations to those of you and thoughts to those who are struggling....I always knew I wanted kids but I never realised how much until I found out how hard it would be.

I'm on my first round of PGD IVF as I have a genetic condition I have a 50/50 chance of passing on to a child. I had my FET last Wednesday, today I got some light spotting which I really panicked about because I was feeling a bit "periody" but it was just light and has now stopped. Did anyone else experience this?

Liverpool19 · 04/04/2018 07:36

Welcome hoppy I had a fresh cycle (1st time) and spotted/had light bleeding for 4 days and got a positive test I’m currently 5 weeks pregnant 😬 I honestly can’t yell you how much I was worrying but turns out it was implantion bleeding! Xx

swimchick1980 · 04/04/2018 07:47

Good luck today Aliona. Welcome Hoppy, keeping everything crossed for you. I did a fresh transfer, I didn't have any bleeding but others on here have had and got BFPs. I also had implantation bleeding with my two natural pregnancies, one successful and one that ultimately ended in MC around 10/11 weeks.

Janefx40 · 04/04/2018 10:40

@Aliona19 good luck with scan. Let us know how you get on xxx

Hoppy1985 · 04/04/2018 10:45

Thanks ladies, that has reassured me a bit. You just automatically think the worst don't you? I've also had a headache I can't get rid of for the next few days.

This was our only healthy embryo that survived so pinning my hopes on it (which is bad I know!).

Also, how do you know if your embryo was a day 3 or 5? Hospital really aren't very informative!

Good luck with your scan @Aliona19 I wish you all the luck !

Liverpool19 · 04/04/2018 11:17

hoppy I had a headache too and it comes and goes every now and again. To be honest I had all sorts of weird pains in strange places 😂😂.
aliona goodluck! Xx

Liverpool19 · 04/04/2018 11:19

hoppy how many days after collection did you have transfer? Xx

Janefx40 · 04/04/2018 11:57

I had headaches. It something to do with progesterone for me I think but I can't find a pattern as to whether it hurts when it's increasing or decreasing.

Your embryo is as old as the day you transferred it. So if you transferred 3 days after egg collection it is a 3 day embryo. If 5 days after it is 5. Transfer is usually done on either day 3 or 5 but I have also heard of day 2, 4 and 6 (so those embryos as 2, 4 or 6 days respectively)

As @Liverpool19 you can work it out based on which day you had the transfer

Xxx

Hoppy1985 · 04/04/2018 11:59

@Liverpool19 I had FET because I'm having PGD they have to take a generic sample from each embryo and freeze them down whilst they test them... so it was like 6 months between the two!

They never told me when they range to say how many had survived to test and because they rang me I don't have a written record of how many days after collection they contacted me to let me know. :(

Yep I've had weird almost crampy pains but not bad like when I have a period but I just can't shift the headache!

Hoppy1985 · 04/04/2018 12:01

Thanks @Janefx40 I might just have to go through my phone log and try and work it out!

Hoppy1985 · 04/04/2018 13:04

@Janefx40 @Liverpool19 just realised I never explained the "F" was for frozen rather than fresh. Doh...sorry!

Hoppy1985 · 04/04/2018 13:06

@Janefx40 @Liverpool19 and apologies for the awful typing... below it's supposed to say "genetic" and "rang"!

Liverpool19 · 04/04/2018 13:31

Haha hoppy I have awful days where I can’t write or spell 😂 I don’t no how they work it out when you’ve had a frozen. I think aliona is the person who can help with that. When is your test day? Xx

Hoppy1985 · 04/04/2018 13:43

@Liverpool19 I've been told to test Sunday... my transfer was a week ago today.

So nervous and so hard to try and stop yourself reading into everything isn't it! Congratulations on your news though. So how far gone are you as of today?

Liverpool19 · 04/04/2018 14:03

Oh it’s awful I think I got literally every single sign and symptom possible 😂 thank you, I’m 5 weeks today still don’t really believe it’s true! After trying for so long and seeing all my friends getting positives and then I finally get one it’s so strange! Xx

Janefx40 · 04/04/2018 14:08

@Hoppy1985 that makes more sense. Sorry for explaining the obvious to you re ET days and embryo days!!

Good luck for Sunday

X

Hoppy1985 · 04/04/2018 14:08

@Liverpool19 do you mind me asking how long you have been trying / how many cycles you've had?

Yes I know that feeling, all my friends have kiddies already, the most recent to get pregnant had to have ivf too and she's been trying the longest out of them all so was over the moon for her when she got a positive!

When do you get your first scan?

Hoppy1985 · 04/04/2018 14:53

@Janefx40 not at all! I've basically gotten most of my info from message boards as the hospital really don't tell you much and when you've never done it before you don't necessarily know what to ask!! Thanks. Nervous as hell already!

Aliona19 · 04/04/2018 15:27

Liverpool 😂😂 Aliona is like Wikipedia yeah? Haha I guess it’s same as fo fresh, how many days passed before it got frozen. I don’t even know about mine 😅 at the end of the day, whether u 5 weeks pregnant or 5 weeks two days, doesn’t really make a huge difference

Clinic is already late 30 min, sitting here trying not to pee all over waiting area 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ Hurry up!!!

Aliona19 · 04/04/2018 15:48

Ok so scan is done 8.4 weeks and we have a hearatbeat 😍😍 now waiting for the nurse to explain me what to do next

Janefx40 · 04/04/2018 16:02

Oh @Aliona19 congratulations. There's a heart beating in your uterus - crazy when you think about it! So pleased it went well

Xxx

PonyPals · 04/04/2018 16:04

@Aliona19 so happy to hear the news. Congratulations on hearing a heart beat!
@Hoppy1985 welcome to the thread.
As far as I know for PGD testing they wait until the embryo is at least 5 days old. So most likely you had a 5 day transfer. Good luck with testing on Sunday.

Liverpool19 · 04/04/2018 16:42

hoppy I was trying just under 2 years I may of lied to my doctor to get refered quicker 😂 turns out both my Fallopian tubes are blocked. This is my first cycle I’m only 29 and had really good eggs apparently so i guess I had things going in my favour. (Apart from the tubes)
I have my scan 24th April so 3 weeks to go!

aliona that’s amazing. Congratulations
Xx

XstephanieX · 04/04/2018 17:02

Congratulations @Aliona19 :)
@Liverpool19 did you have the dye test to figure out if you had blocked tubes? I had the test and it was the WORST thing ever 😂 x

Hoppy1985 · 04/04/2018 17:11

Thanks @PonyPals ! I do vaguely think I remember them ringing me first thing on a Monday and I had my collection the week before.

@Aliona19 massive congratulations to you!! X
