The emby is onboard!
The specialist said that 90% of the cells survived the thaw... do you know if that's any good? What percentage was yours?

Barcelo18 · 12/03/2018 07:56

Unfortunately I’ve tested negative over the weekend and again today which was my test day. I’m just waiting on advice from the clinic as to when to stop all my medication etc. Just so heartbreaking this is our second go, first with egg donor and I really thought we’d done it this time with two hatching blastocysts put in. I feel like giving up but we have two frozen embryos waiting for us so that’s our last shot x good luck to eveyone due to test, I have everything crossed for you all x

Liverpool19 · 12/03/2018 07:57

Starlumiere · 12/03/2018 10:19

@Liverpool19 all the best for today! Fingers crossed the EC for Wednesday! XXX It is all happening!

Liverpool19 · 12/03/2018 12:23

Thanks star egg collection will be Wednesday, I’ve got follicles measuring between 15-22 and some below 15 and some below 10. Here’s hoping they get a good few eggs 🤞🏼

Xx

Starlumiere · 12/03/2018 12:32

Great @Liverpool19! Another 2 days for the follies to grow and here is to great juicy follicles on Wednesday and beautiful mature eggs for you sweetie! Once you start it goes quite quick right? How are you feeling? XXX

Liverpool19 · 12/03/2018 12:42

star I can’t believe how quick! I’m ok starting to get a bit scared now, I know I need to prepare myself for both results. Obviously I’ll hsve my positive head on 😂 but the thoughts it’s not going to work are there.

Xx

Janefx40 · 12/03/2018 12:52

@herewegoagain18 I'm sorry to hear your news. Your DP may be able to accept this now and hopefully you can support each other.

@Barcelo18 sorry to hear your news too. It must be devastating after you made such big changes too. Take time to absorb the info.

@Liverpool19 you've done it! Your body has grown the eggs. Now you just have to hand over to the professionals. Well done and fingers crossed for a great result. Drink plenty of water - it will help to avoid bloating afterwards (3 litres at least) and don't eat Pizza or anything that bloats you post EC.

@PonyPals Good luck with transfer.

Xxx

Starlumiere · 12/03/2018 12:54

Aw sweetie @Liverpool19 I told you it would! I know this is part of this journey, but yes stay positive, but it is one or the other. You just have to believe I guess. Have you planned anything ? Like time off or anything else? XXX

Liverpool19 · 12/03/2018 13:17

Thanks jane I’ve been drinking at least 2 so I’ll up it to 3!

I’m off work this week star as we are allocated certain weeks throughout the year to have off and I was unable to change it at short notice 🙈 so I’m back to work on restricted duties from next Tuesday. I suppose it’ll keep me busy and not have to much time to think 😂

Xx

Aliona19 · 12/03/2018 20:21

Barcelo18 and herewegoagain18, sorry girls..xx

PonyPals I don’t know the answer, my doctor didn’t go into percentage, just said it’s the same as it was before freezing. So I guess 90% is not far off 100%, should be good!

Liverpool whoop whoop, your time is coming. Don’t be nervous, save some of that for 2 ww 😅😅

Minster, did you have blood test after testing? If yes what were the numbers?

hopingforutopia1 · 13/03/2018 07:49

Hello all, I've started other threads but am looking for support and advice. I'm nearly 42, partner with MFI and we've just had our first failed round of ICSI. Everything seems fine with me apart from my age. 10 eggs retrieved, 8 mature, 4 fertilised, 1 transferred at day 5 (the other 3 arrested at day 6). All heartbreaking but we are prepared to try again. Any advice on diet or when to try again or clinic recommendations much appreciated. We feel that we are running out of time Sad

Thanksto all those struggling in their various journeys. This thing is so hard.

Minster2012 · 13/03/2018 08:31

@aliona19 I didn’t have bloods after positive test no, I found it weird we didn’t but our clinic said that if you got a positive OTD then it would give the same result as bloods so they stopped doing it as it wasted clinic time and was stressful for ppl which I can understand to just get the same result as POAS! Have you got your results back?

So sorry for the ladies with negative results, @ponypals we weren’t told a % for our embryo just that when it was frozen it was a day 3 high quality 10 cell then when thawed it had barely degraded & instead it was transferred as a day 4 compacting which usually happens on day 5 so they said they were really pleased!

I had my first follicle growth scan yesterday & was pleased, there are 4 looking on target & 2 potential more whereas last time at this stage we were in tears as only 1 was responding (but we got 3 eggs) so hopefully might get more this time, maybe G&T & needles is the way to go??!! 😀 another scan tomorrow then on course for EC on Friday. My parents are coming over to help with dogs as DH then off to a stag do on sat/sun once he’s made his contribution!

Aliona19 · 13/03/2018 16:16

Lol Minster “his contribution” 😂
I also don’t agree with your clinic about blood tests. As we are testing on specific day they should have average numbers for that time. So average and compare yours to see if it’s all ok. Bcoz even when I was miscarrying my blood were showing hardly any hormones yet pregnancy test was showing Pregnant!

Minster2012 · 13/03/2018 19:55

Hmm yeah it is strange aliona19 but because for us it would have meant my friend coming an hour and 45 mins for bloods then back again for us it was better that way.

@hopingforutopia1 it’s really hard I’m afraid, do you get and IVF goes on the NHS now? As you are looking for clinic recommendations I guess not. There are people on here from all around but a cluster from up north and a cluster from down south/London way. Did you know what your progesterone level was? Most clinics unfortunately do say it can take an average of 3 times trying for it to work so you’ve have one, now it’s fine tuning what works for you. Our clinic just told us to eat healthy, don’t binge drink & when my husband asked about alcohol affecting his Sperm or not they told him it would be from 3 months before when it matters so cutting down is good for the boys!

hopingforutopia1 · 13/03/2018 20:53

@minster I'm "between the clusters" (oo er) in the Midlands. No goes on the NHS here due to age plus OH already has children. The wonderful lottery that is NHS fertility treatment. I have no idea what my progesterone level was. Should the clinic have checked? I had Cyclogest from egg retrieval until the BFN (400mg twice a day). The next cycle will definitely be elsewhere as I really wasn't impressed with the service I received during cycle one. It was very much thank you for your money/hands off approach.

Thanks for healthy advice. We are both veggie, trying to eat loads of protein, neither drink nor smoke, exercise, supplements etc. His boys aren't in the best of health. I think we were lucky to get any from his teeny sample on EC day.

Minster2012 · 13/03/2018 21:28

@hopingforutopia yeah it’s a bugger, I’m treated at Hull for our treatment, we had one half round on NHS (I say half as we had my half on NHS paid due to my cancer treatment then transfer into my best friend & surrogate we paid for that side), she’s pregnant from that round which is amazing, I’m now doing another round of egg collecting/embryo creating hopefully for freezing so we might have the possibility of any future biological children, that’s self funded and they are great, they seem to treat everyone the same, NHS/private, they respond well to emails & I had an emergency number I had to call after I messed up the trigger shot last year before egg collection & a nurse called me back in 30 mins!!
You made me laugh with your comment on your OH, mine made a joke to his mate when we told him about expecting a baby & obviously it’s via IVF into our friend & my DH said “yeah I just had to spunk in a pot and it’s really demoralising when you see it, it really feels like loads normally!!” Then he asked me how much it feels like, when his mate was there???!!! Errrrr, no comment!!

hopingforutopia1 · 13/03/2018 21:35

@minster Glad to hear that things are moving on nicely with your treatment. Fingers crossed re freezing! Sounds like you have a lovely people looking after your journey. My OH walked out of the room where he "performed his tiny miracle" with a big grin on his face. Apparently there was a computer in the room that was stuck on the reboot screen. He's a techie so he was torn between reinstalling windows or actually getting his swimmers in the pot.

Minster2012 · 13/03/2018 21:45

That’s funny! Wishing to fix the computer!! I just realised I didn’t answer your question on progesterone, it’s just because it seemed to us that it was quite important because our clinic made my friend have a progesterone blood test the day before transfer and said “if it’s less than 30 by only a bit we can give you an injection to boost it, but if it’s quite a bit lower than we’ll cancel it, as research shows it’s likely to be a waste of an embryo” 😕and then I found threads where other private clinics the levels had to be over 100 for them to go ahead with a transfer. So it obviously makes a difference but not every clinic tests, and then it seemed that our testing level was quite low so we were worried. Another part of the rollercoaster I suppose! My friends level ended up being just under 30 so they gave her the extra injection & obviously the embryo took so we have no idea what worked & what didn’t (she has had 2 children before so that is on our favour maybe unlike other IVF pregnancies) but it does seem like most private clinics do it.

Something to ask maybe x

hopingforutopia1 · 13/03/2018 22:08

Thanks for the advice. My clinic didn't seem overly keen in blood testing. In my treatment plan I was supposed to have scans and blood tests on the same day but they seemed to "forget" the blood tests for a couple of the scans. The only test I had was before the day of potential collection. From the results they decided to let me stim another day. My follow up consultation is later this week and my list of questions is now on two pages!
