Hello everyone!

I've missed so much! Sorry for being AWOL, this week has been hectic.

I'm doing good. My hospital has finally given me my appointment but it's when I'm 13.5weeks and I'm too impatient so I've booked a private scan for next week when I'll be 12 weeks. Time seems to be flying by!

Hope everyone that's on drugs (the un-fun kind) or in various stages of treatment

  • star dbear jane - are doing well?

minster how are is your friend? And how are you?

dinks how are you doing?

Happy Friday all :) x

Starlumiere · 12/01/2018 17:20

@Liverpool19 that's great sweetie, things are moving then! Smile For me I have to start injecting on the second day of my cycle not the first day. Not sure for the others but that was the case for me in November and for my February cycle. As for the reason of your appointment, after meeting with the Consultant it is the Nursing plan, - where all the process is explained to you, injections method shown, admin/signing papers / weight /height and you are going private, payment but i think you mentioned you are on the NHS so now worries there! Girls have I forgotten anything?

@Rose how nice to hear from you! You go girl! Well done on booking a private scan! I am sure it will all be ok Smile. I am great and it is the WE yessss !!!! Starting again in February so having fun in the meantime!!!

Heellloooooo ladies,

Gosh it feels like ages since I posted. First week back at work was busy to say the least. But I have just sent my last email for the week and have logged on to see how you are all doing.

Star Great news you're enjoying life before AF comes and round 2! The energizer bunny is back!! Grin I have everything crossed for you. On your advice I had my first acupuncture session today to try and get this blasted nausea and reflux under control! It was so lovely and relaxing, I came out feeling all fuzzy and ready for a nap. I have a few more sessions booked in so we will see how it goes. I also made it back to pilates for the first time since early December. Felt good but oh gosh I am unfit!

Rose How are you doing? So glad you got your scan in before 14 weeks, can't believe they left it so close! Did you book with the thisismy company in the end? I might try them as it's been 4 weeks since my last scan and 4 weeks til my next, and I want to see Pickle!

Liverpool Welcome! Sorry I missed your first post! If you've been told "you're going to have IVF" then the next appt should be to get things going! So exciting! And don't worry about not knowing the process... I literally had no idea what I was doing the whole time even during treatment, and even totally forgot to take one of the injections for 3 days in a row. Thankfully I had DH to remind me after that, and the cycle wasn't ruined!

Aliona Time passed so quickly, you started your injections and have gone to Belarus already!! I hope you have a fabulous time and eat lots of tasty food!! Hope your counselling is going ok... I found mine didn't really click with me until quite far through. I kept going as it wasn't making me feel worse, so, what's the harm... Hope you arrive home refreshed without too many side effects from the medication :)

Jane A hysteroscopy when you're already having treatment! That's a bit weird... did they say why? I had a few follicles that were really fat too... I think they were definitely overcooked ones by the time of egg collection. I hope the stress isn't too bad for you :( Strange words I know, because we've all been there and we all know it IS stressful, but at least it's good to have company and sympathy :)

Dbear AF is like a sodding bus!! Never turns up when you need it! Hope yours comes soon... my trick was always to wear nice knickers - stupid AF would normally come and ruin them ;) Did you go to the London meet up already? Hope you have a great time! I am always jealous of sociable people - I am a wallflower and crowds and new people are like my idea of torture. Though I definitely think I would meet all you ladies on here! It feels like we've shared so much, I would be safe.

Minster Hope you're doing ok pet, and your friend is too!

I think I got everyone?? I hope Atik is doing ok??

I have to dash as DH is back from his run and we're going to get fish and chips!! OMG I am so excited. Needless to say I HAVE GOT MY APPETITE BACK AND I WANT ALL THE FOOD. I still get horrendous reflux and nausea (the nausea is worst if I get hungry) but my appetite keeps me eating anyway.

In other news my mum said she would buy us our pram, then went to John Lewis and backtracked after looking at the prices. She is going to buy the carrycot for the pram instead bless her!

I think I am starting to get excited about pregnancy and having a baby, but I still feel like it could all go wrong at any second. I guess this is what it's like though, when you have had losses and trouble conceiving and have all the nerves and anxieties that go along with it.

I am just so glad to have you all. I wish I could get on here more but work has blocked Mumsnet, and most evenings I crash when I get home. But hopefully more appetite = more energy = more evenings on here ;)

Love to all

xxxx

dinks and star thanks for the replies. Yes we are NHS and no waiting list which I was amazed by 😳 mine boyfriend works permenant nights so I’ll have to be on top form remembering stuff. Worst memory ever. We have decided to keep everything private from family. Our mums know we are having IVF but not giving no dates. I think it’s less pressure that way. So happy to have found this forum. My mind has worked overtime since finding out it was IVF us reading all your stories fills me with hope.

Xx

Minster2012 · 12/01/2018 22:26

Hello ladies! So sorry for being quiet, not Been well this week but a round of horrible hospital appointments meant I had to go ge out today!

Hello Liverpool like you we basically kept our IVF secret except from my parents & only a couple of my friends who understood how hard it was & it helped, the expectation wasn’t there that “ooh you’ll have a baby next year” but we still had support when it was hard & it was after we were told that my eggs were crap!! (But the few eggs, 4, worked into 3 fertilised eggsctyen 2 embryos, so don’t give up faith we got 2 embryos & 1 of those is currently griwning in my friend!!) 💕💕💕

aliona I hope your presents turned up & you gage a good trip even with stabbing! Welcome to the IVF fun bus!!

dbear grrr so stupid these bloody periods! Must be so frustrating for you! Can they scan you and see what stage you are at? Thats what that has to do with me after so many years in deprovera I didn’t get my AF (but I could only stay off my treatment for so long) & they scanned me & actually I was down Regging so started anyway for EC. They’ll have to do that again for me I think.

dinks so glad your appetite has returned!! Do you have the mystical second trimester glow & energy then???!!!! Like a unicorn I think??!! 🦄🦄

star dbear jane liverpool I think we will all be injecting at the same time then but I will he on long protocol and my cancer drug has to be out of my system for 4 months before EC So no doubt i’ll be the last person again!!!! Pah

In other newsy friend is awesome & 12 weeks & feeling good & I still can’t believe it 😍 not a fat goes by when I’m not scared for her & I have no control over it. Scary.

Minster2012 · 12/01/2018 22:30

Oh my god typos!!

In other news!!! My friends is 12 weeks today & not a day goes by when I’m not scared for her
& I have no control over it. Even DH feels that, he says he wishes it were me, wishes it were me moaning about being tiring & sick coz then he wouldn’t be able to forget it so much. I have told him it’s much better for him this way!! Much less hassle & grief & moaning!! 😊😊😁

Liverpool19 · 12/01/2018 22:47

What your friend is doing for you minister is amazing. Your so lucky to have a friend like her. I’ve told my 3 best friends about it and then it’s top secret. I just want to get started it’s been a long year 😂 x

Minster2012 · 13/01/2018 08:14

Liverpool yes my friend is amazing, I am in awe that she is doing this for us! I told 3 friends about the IVF whilst doing it, and my parents helped to look after our dog! I’m pleased I told my friends because I definitely needed their support at the time it was really hard (harder than DH & I imagined) and that’s why I’ve told ppl we’re doing it again in the coming months so I can talk to them. So I think it’s a good thing you’ve told ppl.

rose I’m pleased you have a scan next week earlier! Actually was worried, 12 weeks!! We got there yesterday, can you believe it?!

I hope 2018 brings this to everyone!!

Starlumiere · 13/01/2018 10:39

@Minster it is so nice to hear from you! 12 weeks wow time passes fast! How great and I am so very happy for you!

Well this morning ladies the ovulation test shows high peak so it is all happening and should have my AF in the next 2 weeks, give it take. I felt it yesterday at work....anyway progress, and fast progress at that.

Have a fab WE all!

XXX

dinksandbinks · 13/01/2018 11:05

Minster I’m so sorry you’ve been unwel :( Are you ok? Sending lots of healthy wishes your way, hope DH is looking after you, and puppies too??

No unicorns yet!! Teehee I love the icon 🦄 🦄 I think the glow is a myth... but I am just thankful that I am getting more nutrition! Mostly for Pickle’s sake.

What did you decide to do about the NIPT? I asked my midwife and she said the info would come with your combined screening results - if they were higher risk you’d be asked to go for another blood test. Those tests can be done anytime before 40 weeks so 14 week limit isn’t important.

I’ve found a place in Leeds that does reassurance scans for £50 (also does NIPT and cost seems reasonable)... Soooo tempted for scan but it’s a pain in the arse to get to from where we live.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend ❤️❤️❤️

Janefx40 · 13/01/2018 13:33

Hi ladies - just left clinic after hysteroscopy and cyst aspiration. All went well. They always do hysteroscopy on day 2-3 on short protocol here. They drained the cysts or they said they may be enlarged follicles but good to do it anyway as enlarged follicles can steal all the meds apparently. Anyway I had the most lovely sleep.

Have done 3 injections now. The first one was ok, but I'm now starting to dread them a bit more but hey ho. Best just to get on with it and not think too much. Surprised that it doesn't really hurt tho.

Overall so far so good. Plus I have loved arranging all my drugs and equipment into a Tupperware box and I'm quite enjoying the whole Adrenalin aspect of it. The clinic can call anytime and tell me to take an injection immediately. They've already done that twice. It's like being on a secret mission...of sorts.

@Minster2012 glad Baby has reached 12 weeks but sorry you've had horrid treatment yourself. Hope you're feeling better now.

@Liverpool19 exciting to get your letter. Hopefully you'll be starting soon. I know what you mean about getting hope from reading this board. Before I started, I'd imagine IVF was all doom and gloom but I've heard more positive stories on here than I did before when I was on regular TTC boards and we were all striking out every month.

I've told a few friends but weirdly more people at work know because I had no choice than do in my personal life!

@dinksandbinks glad you've got your appetite back. Get yourself some treats!

@Dbear35 any sign of AF?

Hope everyone else is well xxx

Atikakck · 13/01/2018 16:47

dinks yh am okay x just feeling lyk a dnt hv any energy at all a dnt rmb wen a went out nd felt gd nd a hv no appetite most of the tym so a not eating much a tried forcing ma self even tho a feel am hungry a fink wich food in the world a wud lyk to eat Ryt nw nd there is none... slowly cumin of frm all ma medication cz frm 12 week a dnt need take any medication awww bt it's just 10 week nd 1 day lol

A heard dat to many ppl saying not to agree to this thing wer they take summa frm bk of the baby neck cz it's not safe etc

Minster2012 · 15/01/2018 10:04

Morning ladies,
jane I enjoyed putting all my injections in Tupperware too and getting organised! Bit OCD but I liked it, and lining them up for DH to draw them up & inject (I preferred him to do it when he was around!).

atik if you are talking about the nuchal testing/measurement they don’t take anything from baby’s neck they take a measurement of the nuchal fold (white fold of skin) at the base of baby’s neck so it’s perfectly safe, for the NHS nuchal combined testing they should do that & a blood test for the Edwards etc nothing into baby?

We have our nuchal testing scan on Thursday & can’t wait for it, because we get to see baby again but we really want to find out the nuchal measurement for Downs to check it’s ok, u get that measurement on the day & the other blood results a while after, as if the Downs result is ok we are going to tell a friend couple we are seeing that weekend & one of my best friends too...so exciting!

Also my friends bump has come out a lot!! 😁

dbear any news?

aliona how was Belarus?

rose when is your scan?

ginandtonic any news on your side?

Love to star and dinks everyone else

RoseWrites · 15/01/2018 16:18

Hey all :)

Minster - I'm 12 weeks today. How time flies! our scan is next Thursday, when I'll be 13.5 weeks. it feels like AGES away so I'm really pleased we have a private one tomorrow night. They make clear that it's a reassurance scan, rather than a diagnostic scan, which I'm guessing they say to cover themselves. But it's undertaken by a trained scanner who also works shifts at the hospital, so if they find anything odd they'll tell you about it.... obviously though i hope we will just get good news and a good picture! Although, like always, the sense of apprehension is now kicking in!

In other news, my OH and I have decided to get hitched before the baby makes an appearance. I'd like there to be a semblance of sunshine when we get married, but also don't want to get married too late into the summer as I'll be massive, and I also read that IVF babies have a tendency to come early. Going into labour in front of all my friends and family does not sound appealing!

Hope everyone else is well? I keep hearing that today is meant to be the most depressing of the year, so I hope it's not too bad for you all! :) x

Aliona19 · 15/01/2018 17:15

Hey ladies 😘

Minster I am back and I wish I never went. Trying to fit all family in one day was an absolute disaster. Massive arguments haha don’t know how we didn’t kill each other. Also my cousin where I stayed night had her 4 y old taken at 4 am to hospital with vomiting, so I slept each day 2 hours. So total nightmare. The only good thing-seeing my nan who is very weak. I am glad I did that. So for now I want to forget this trip lol so Rose they are lying haha the worst day of the year was Saturday 😅
Dinks I am so happy you eating again. I feel if I get pregnant I will be really bad with nausea as I feel this way every day, on the bus or if I smell things. I am dreading it!! The councelling is getting on my nerves as I hate doing this little tasks they give u, but I am going ahead and if it’s not gonna help-at least I know I have tried it all 😆

Still can’t get needle In easily 😒 and last 2/3 days having really bad cramps, Dbear did you have that? What else? Had my first day at work today and so far so good. Although stressed about letting them know about appointments so early into work 🤦🏻‍♀️ But hey ho, if they not happy then I will have to look for something else right?

Hope everyone is good. Haven’t even read properly all of it, sorry if I missed important stuff 😬😬 will read it later when have time, even suitcase is still packed haha hate that job of unpacking ❤️❤️

Minster2012 · 15/01/2018 20:54

Evening!!

@rosewrites OMG you are getting married before the baby is born that’s pretty big news!! I am assuming that as people don’t know about the baby they don’t know there will be a wedding soon!! You will be like us, (unless u are engaged already & have one) when you go to a bridal dress shop & they say “when’s the wedding?” & I said “December” & they went “next year”... “er, no, this year” they go quiet as it’s about 4 months away “erm, dresses take about 6 months to be ordered, people usually order them sooner” ...”well I didn’t know I was going to get married then, I’m sure i’ll find something, can you show me the ones that might be available in 4 months please????”

But I didn’t have a growing bump!!!!! 😂😂😁😁🙈🙈 awesome!!!
Do IVF babies come sooner??
Do we get to come to the wedding??
No, seriously though good luck for the scan that’s great 😍😍💕😁
aliona we are buying hats!!!

Talking of which, aliona that trip sounds a bit rubbish (but seeing nan is a good thing) family is stressful!! My DGP are I’ll at the minute and it makes me wish I could see them more. What is your new job (I missed it?!)
Stab yourself harder!! Go 1 2 3 push and hard and do it!! Hard! It’s harder I find if you go soft

Unpacking & washing is the wirst bit of a holiday!! 😕🤮

Aliona19 · 15/01/2018 21:33

Lol Minster buying hats 😆 Rose probably in panic deleting Mumsnet account right now 😆😆
Also started bruising for some reason. Hope I am stubbing myself at the right place 🤨
Job is in the kitchen. Looks good so far, so we will c how it goes 👌🏻😀 speaking about job haha how noticeable is the bump at 12 weeks 😁

Minster2012 · 15/01/2018 21:53

It’s ok rose don’t worry, aliona or my gat won’t outshine either your DM or DMIL!! Now can we come??!! Only kidding!

Bruising is normal aliona I’m afraid!

rose and dinks might have to help with the bump question, and atik too, as my friend wasn’t showing really at all until 11 weeks then at 11 weeks and certainly 12 weeks now she def has a bump, but hasn’t put on weight so it’s the bump, and can’t do up trousers but we think that’s coz she’s had 2 children before & in her words “has crap stomach muscles” so she thinks her stomach muscles have just gone “oh yeah this again!” And gone into ‘relaxed mode for pregnancy’ as they do say your body is never the same again. We want to get the scan out of the way & then she wants to get some maternity clothes.

The problem that most ladies have with telling employers (or other ppl who are close to u) pre 12 weeks is sickness it seems so it friends how you are with that 🤮🤮

Atikakck · 15/01/2018 22:05

aliona a still doing ma injection in ma stomach nd still getting bruised lol so a guess dats normal xx

minster a hv a bump... a gas bump lol

Aliona19 · 16/01/2018 05:43

Minster
That’s what I am worried about, sickness. I nauseous all the time 😅 doctors don’t know why. So I reckon during pregnancy I will be the biggest 🤮 and telling anyone during probabatiob 🤔 nOt good idea 😁 anyway, not pregnant yet.

Atik I have never had one bruise during first injections. This one just one. Not sure if I got it in the wrong place..and it stings 😭😭

Janefx40 · 16/01/2018 08:55

Hi all

@Aliona19 I'm so sorry the trip wasn't great - my family often get like that - if we haven't seen each other for a long time we end up having an argument - sometimes I think we just get over-excited to see each other and then we fight!

I've got some bruising - it seems to be random when I bruise and when I don't. But I'm starting Clexane tonight and apparently that always bruises. And hurts. Boo!

@RoseWrites Congratulations. That's so exciting. Lovely to have a Summer wedding.

@Atikakck I nearly always have a gas bump! And never been pregnant yet. My partner describes me as a windbag - I can't deny it!

@Minster2012 good luck with the scan.

I have follicles growing - apparently 6 on one side and 7 on the other (although 3 are dominant). Pleased something is happening but will wait and keep fingers crossed that they keep growing. At the moment it all feels positive but I'm aware that this is the easy part - dreading waking up after collection to find there were none there!

Xxx

Aliona19 · 16/01/2018 12:27

Janefx40 if they growing then they will be there! Don’t stress xx
Lol speaking about gas bump 😂😂 as my grandpa used to say about my grandma “when the night comes, she shuts her mouth and opens her ass” 😂😂😂 guess that’s all of us soon by the look of it

RoseWrites · 16/01/2018 12:51

Minster you guessed it right - no one knows about the baby or the wedding! I have just called the registry office and also booked the reception venue. In the space of about 12 hours we have planned a wedding. Now we just need to tell people!

The wedding will be super low key - registry office with our families, and then drinks and food with all our friends. You guys should come along! Ha!

Back to the baby making topic: on the bump front, i have had a bump since early December. I thought it was OHSS but it just gets bigger. It's now really noticeable, and I can't do up any of my trousers and all my tops are really stretching at the seams. All the people in my office stare at my stomach but are too polite to say anything. I really, really need to get some maternity clothes, but i'm being weirdly superstitious about doing it until after our NHS scan next week!

Dinks sorry i missed your earlier question about the NIPT test at thisismy. We were going to get it done regardless, but now think we might wait until our NHS scan next Thursday. if that comes back with any iffy/inconclusive results then we'll definitely get it done. I have a feeling though that we'll be like you though and get it done so we can have some more reassurance, and another sneaky peak at the baby! Have you booked yours?

How's everyone else doing? Hope everyone is well x

Starlumiere · 16/01/2018 14:27

Hello ALLLL !!!

Oh la la la la la la ! I am liking all these baby bumps conversation (related top babies or wind Grin)! Have I just read it correctly? We have a WEDDING!!!! @Rose this is wonderful! Congratulations!!! Yes indeed, I am there !!!

Congratulations for the 12 Week mark ladies! @Atik hang in there sweetie you are almost there! What do you mean you are injecting yourself?

@Aliona I know the whole process is pretty shit sometime, yes yes I use this word also Grin, but you are so strong and nothing will sway you from your goal. I am so glad you have job, at least time will fly for you and you can get some money. Even though you detest the early start Smile. Your frosties are calling for you and the same goes for our darling @Dbear. Bless you I was so glad to hear your AF arrived! Yeahhh!!! So when is your FET? 3 weeks max no? I hope you are good and sleeping alright.

@Janefx40 you are really taking this in your stride! You are writing like a real pro now! Grin. Bless you. I concur with everybody else, if they are growing, it is all good. It took me 13 days to get 8 eggs, it was quite quick! Your EC will probably happen by the end of the month. Don’t think like this sweetie, your ovaries will produce super juicy eggs. Trust them! I am very happy to see you are well and embracing the experience. I do believe it is key.

@Minster, bless you, are you feeling better now? Have you got dates for your next Injections/EC business at all? How exciting!!!! And wonderful about your friend being well and all that! Smile

As for me, I am hitting the gym pretty much every day. Having my nails and hair done. Seeing friends and tonight Facial + Reflexology. Life is so harrrd !!! Oh, I almost forgot! According to the ovulation test I ovulated on Saturday, so I guess my AF is en route and then I am on for the next cycle!

@Liverpool19, did you get more information, plan?

Ta ta for now ladies!

Lots of Love to all!
XXX

Liverpool19 · 16/01/2018 16:38

Not yet 🤷🏼‍♀️ I got a letter last week to say I would have 2 funded treatments and the next letter is following. So hopefully by the end of next week I have more information. To be honest I was only refered on the 2nd January this year so am surprised it has moved this fast 😂 hope everyone else is well x
