4 high quality embryos at day 3 - what should I expect at day 5?

Goodluckjonathan76 · 11/10/2017 19:45

Mid way through our first cycle of IVF. They retrieved 6 eggs and 4 fertilised. The embryologist called me on day 3 and said all 4 embryos were high quality (at least 10 cells and minimal fragmentation) and so they could keep them until day 5 or 6. I am due an update tomorrow am and probably ET tomorrow afternoon or Friday (day 5 or 6) and just trying to set my expectations for the news tomorrow. How many usually die between day 3 and 5? If we do have at least one left, what are my chances of it sticking? I've gotten so pessimistic that I've sort of ruled out it working. Should I assume it's not doing to work or should I be more hopeful?

Beta is beta hCG- the pregnancy test ;)

I realise everyone is different but it’s nice and reassuring to get good lab results or symptoms like morning sickness. I’m not having any. Except for feeling like I’m about to get my period which is a bit freaky Confused

Twickerhun · 30/10/2017 14:15

Sorry for disappearing I've had the flu and felt aweful. Also had sickness and have been really light headed, not great. Good to see we are all hanging on in here :)
Jojo period pains and early pregnancy seem to feel very much the same!

I just went out to buy a clear blue digi test, I want to see if the weeks indicator has gone up. I also need to book my scan - I can't wait to see if we have a little heart beat.

JoJoSM2 · 30/10/2017 17:40

Twickerhun, welcome back. Are you feeling better now?

I’ve heard back from the clinic. My thyroid is good, progesterone is good. Slightly unfortunately, my beta hCG has only gone up from 860ish to 3560ish in 5 days do not brilliant.., The nurse said she’d speak to s doctor but I’m fretting in the meantime.

otters2017 · 30/10/2017 17:46

Slightly tempted to test but think I'll hold out now as it's only another day or so. Symptoms have subsided today so feeling more positive again. It's such a rollercoaster of emotions!

twicker how many weeks are you? Hope you're feeling better

jojo what did she expect your hcg to be? Surely the fact that it's risen significantly is encouraging ? Glad thyroid and progesterone are ok

goodluck how are you doing?

JoJoSM2 · 30/10/2017 17:57

Just spoke to the doctor and she says she isn’t concerned. However, my rise has been 1.7 in 48h and from studies I know 1.66 is considered the cut off for non-viable pregnancies. So I’m pretty down about it.

Twickerhun · 30/10/2017 18:07

Jojo thanks, I'm feeling somewhat better. Sorry about your hcg but good the doctor is possitive, hang in there. Google may not be your friend right now.

Otters I had a transfer at the same time as goodluck and jojo - I'm 5+4 if the tiny embryo is developing ok

Goodluckjonathan76 · 30/10/2017 18:09

Welcome back Twicker, sorry to hear you have been ill.

Otters, you deserve a medal for self-restraint!

JoJo, I just spoke to the clinic and asked for my HCG. Mine was 3376 on Saturday and they said it was "wonderful" so if yours is 3565 that sounds in the same ballpark and also great! How much is it supposed to rise per day? I am 5 weeks today going by the date of my last period. When are you counting from?

Goodluckjonathan76 · 30/10/2017 20:20

Sorry, my HCG was 1,376 not 3376!!! Should I be worried that mine is so low?

OP posts:
JoJoSM2 · 30/10/2017 21:34

Goodluck, so you’re level was 1376 at 16dp5dt? Mine would have been pretty much identical. Hmm That gives me hope. Although I still haven’t had 3+ on the digi - perhaps my wee is very diluted.

My first scan is on Friday, 11.11 so all shall be revealed then! I can’t wait 😊

Twickerhun, will you try the digi tomorrow morning? Have you had bloods with your clinic? Do they test on OTD?

Otters, your OTD is almost here! Will they do your bloods on the day too?

JoJoSM2 · 30/10/2017 21:36

PS Goodluck, the level isn’t that low in itself so don’t worry at all. I was just worried about the rate it’s been going up at - I’ve had 4 blood tests so far. The first 3 it went up quickly but today’s test was disappointing as it hasn’t increased that much.

otters2017 · 30/10/2017 21:41

I'm just going to do a HPT. I can go to the clinic for a blood test if I want to but it's a long way to go just for a blood test and urine tests are quite sensitive nowadays. Just hope it's a nice BFP!

JoJoSM2 · 30/10/2017 21:55

Otters, you're admirably chilled out. I wish I had some of your attitude! HPTs are very sensitive. The blood test are more to see if it's likely to be a chemical, ectopic or predict your odds of getting through the first trimester.

Twickerhun · 31/10/2017 07:50

Otters you seem very controlled. How do you feel?

My clinic is too far to do bloods I went to reprofit in Czech rep, they rely on pee sticks and early scans (I need to book one for next week). I did a clear blue weeks indicator this morning and got a 3+ so I'm happy. Seeing how much stress the bloods add I'm kind of happy not to have something else to have anxiety over - I'm trying to keep everything low key. I have anxiety issues and know the best management for me is to not feed it.

Goodluckjonathan76 · 31/10/2017 08:23

Yes, 1376 at 16dp5dt. I have only had one blood test. Wonder why they don't monitor more closely. My 7 week scan is booked for 14/11. They said anything from 13/11 but thought 13 was unlucky!!!! Thinking of switching to the Fetal Medicine Centre as they do good deal for the viability scan plus harmony test which is way cheaper than CRGH. Guess there is no reason that you have to stay with the same clinic?

JoJoSM2 · 31/10/2017 09:25

Twickerhun, amazing how different people react to anxiety... with me it’s the opposite - if I don’t have to information (and numbers), I get properly anxious. That’s really cool it’s 3+ for you as well.

I’ve run out of pee sticks... no testing for now.

Goodluck, sorry if I’ve worried you with the hCG levels. Hopefully it’s a good sign that they were so similar Wink

Are you looking to use Fetal Medicine Centre (or somewhere else) throughout pregnancy? Or just the first trimester? It looks like they can tell you the sex of the baby with Harmony at 10 weeks Grin That would be cool. I’m into my interior design and want to have the wackiest, most amazing baby nursery so would be good to have a bit more notice to start designing.

Otter, one sleep till POAS! How are you feeling?

Goodluckjonathan76 · 31/10/2017 12:02

JoJo, I will use them just for the first trimester (viability scan, harmony test the nuchal fold test) all of which are critical for me as I am 41. With DSs I think I also did the 20 week scans at the FMC as well as with the NHS. And yes, the Harmony test can tell you the sex. Amazing isn't it? I so want another boy although 3 boys might be a bit chaotic! xx

Feeling anxious and nervous and excited all at once. Dreamt that I got a BFP which felt so real that when I woke up I thought I did and was looking for the stick! Really hope my dream will come true tomorrow. Out tonight to distract myself. Had a pampering facial and massage which was very nice and relaxing.
Hope you're all doing ok.

geeup · 31/10/2017 17:30

I have a really good feeling about you @otters2017

Twickerhun · 31/10/2017 19:35

Otters absolutely everything is crossed for you

Goodluckjonathan76 · 31/10/2017 23:06

Good luck for tomorrow Otters!!! What time will you test?

isthismummy · 01/11/2017 07:57

I'm not a member of this thread, but was flicking through yesterday and hoping you got your bfp. I just came back to check!

CongratulationsFlowersFlowers So happy for you.

JoJoSM2 · 01/11/2017 08:15

Otters, congrats!!! And welcome to the officially preggers club Grin

I had my first puke this morning. I’m not sure whether to hope it’s a bug for two days or morning sickness that will haunt me for a couple of months Confused

geeup · 01/11/2017 08:17

That's amazing @otters2017 congratulations!!

Goodluckjonathan76 · 01/11/2017 10:05

Congratulations Otters, that's amazing!!!!
