4 high quality embryos at day 3 - what should I expect at day 5?

Mid way through our first cycle of IVF. They retrieved 6 eggs and 4 fertilised. The embryologist called me on day 3 and said all 4 embryos were high quality (at least 10 cells and minimal fragmentation) and so they could keep them until day 5 or 6. I am due an update tomorrow am and probably ET tomorrow afternoon or Friday (day 5 or 6) and just trying to set my expectations for the news tomorrow. How many usually die between day 3 and 5? If we do have at least one left, what are my chances of it sticking? I've gotten so pessimistic that I've sort of ruled out it working. Should I assume it's not doing to work or should I be more hopeful?

Goodluck - I am also sticking to progesterone for possibly 14 weeks or more. I had a fresh cycle as well. It does give you awful thrush but it also gives me bad diarrhea if I use it the other way so can't win really! A girl will definitely be a change for you then!
I know what you mean about waiting. We've been waiting 2 weeks, will be 3 weeks by the time of scan next week and I worked out I could probably have a scan every 3 weeks at 10w and then 13w (12w would be Christmas so don't think I'd get anything then!) I'm worried about chromosomal abnormalities too (am 39)
Where I am it's a self referral to midwife and I haven't been brave enough to do that yet. Might just do it as their info sheet says book as soon as you know you're pregnant.

Remember - welcome to the group. 3 embryos - wow potential triplets! Good luck for testing. I have my 7w scan on 21st and I'm really hoping it will be good.

Twickerhun, is your name relevant to your location? If so, we’re about 9 miles up the road and have lots of connections (I used to work at West Mid)!!

I’m on the following meds.......

Estrodiol 2mg x 3 daily till week 8
Enoxaparin 40mg (clexane 0.4ml) daily till week 12
Crinone 8% gel twice daily till week 12
Aspirin 75mg till week 28
Folic acid 5mg till birth
I also take prednisolone for arthritis, vitamin D 3200iU for deficiency, adcal 750/200iU x2 twice daily because of steroids.

I take everything in the morning except the clexane as that started in the evening 5 days pre ET. So far the only thing I’ve noticed side effect wise (tmi) is that, since starting the crinone last Saturday (Nov 4), I’ve been lacking in cm except this morning when I was aware of quite a lot when I did my morning gel. I also noticed I’m getting more ‘residue’ reappearing this week than last week (again tmi!). Has anyone else experienced this? I keep wondering whether everything I feel is ‘normal’ or not!!

JoJoSM2 · 14/11/2017 12:29

Wow Remember, 3 embies!

I’ve seen my GP and he’s sent off a referral for antenatal care but I haven’t heard back yet.

Twickerhun · 14/11/2017 12:36

My name is relevant to where I’m from but I now live down the m3 in commuterville.

I’ve still not sorted out my midwife booking in, might wait until after Tuesdays scan.

I’m not planning on having any of the tests just the basic two scans. Im just hooding that everything is ok and well if it’s not I’ll deal with that later.

Rememberallball · 14/11/2017 15:04

Good old M3 commuterbelt!! I live rather local to Hampton Court Palace and one of my best friends lives in Southampton so I’m often to be found driving up and down the M3 or enduring the joys of South Western Trains!!

JoJoSM2 · 14/11/2017 17:50

Remember, I’m not too far either - zone 5 in the south.

Goodluck, are you SW London?

Goodluckjonathan76 · 14/11/2017 18:12

Nope, I am the odd one out as I live in Islington, North London. Off to my GP appointment now!

otters2017 · 14/11/2017 18:57

Goodluck - hope it goes well with gp.

Remember - wow that's a lot of meds! I'm only on progesterone pessaries twice a day.

Twicker - how are you doing? Any more symptoms? Have you tested again or just waiting for scan?

Twickerhun · 14/11/2017 19:44

I’m doing ok, thanks for asking. I’m not testing anymore as I’m not now sure how reliable the tests would be. Just hanging out waiting for the re scan....

Rememberallball · 14/11/2017 20:54

Otters, I wonder if I’m on more because of it being a DE cycle and because I already take folic acid, prednisolone, vitamin D and Adcal for rheumatoid arthritis it looks even more!! Only on 4 things prescribed by clinic!!

Goodluckjonathan76 · 15/11/2017 13:07

Afternoon all and welcome Remember! I loved reading your story! Welcome to this thread.

So, bit of a wasted GP appointment as you can self refer (I should have picked that up as others on this thread said so). I have now self-referred to UCLH. Hopefully will get confirmation of the scan soon.

Also started to feel a bit quesy today, annoyingly. Going to eat my way through it. Other than that, no news from me. This is the boring bit I guess, just waiting.

Twickers, JoJo, Otters, how are you all getting on?

OP posts:
JoJoSM2 · 15/11/2017 14:54

I’m just almost permanently feeling sick and feeling sorry for myself. Had a very long day at work yesterday and it full on and really hard work to deal with feeling so awful.

Goodluck, UCLH sounds good. I think my local options aren’t particularly impressive so not sure what I’ll do.

Twickerhun, will you use the same provision as before for pregnancy/labour?

Otters, are the symptoms beginning to get to you?

Remember, are you worried about a multiple pregnancy? They seem to be so risky and difficult. Or were you just hoping to up your chances of at least one taking?

Rememberallball · 15/11/2017 15:20

JoJo, it was our consultant who recommended transferring all 3 embryos; he said he’d be very surprised if they all implanted but it would give us the greatest chance of a successful cycle. DH has a history of twins in his family as do I (though, being DE, that’s rather academic!!) We will be surprised, and probably shocked, if we get a multiple pregnancy but it will give us a ready made family!! I think medical screening and care has reduced the risks associated with multiple pregnancies and improved success rates for those pregnancies

Rememberallball · 15/11/2017 15:37

TMI question - I’ve noticed since I’ve been using the progesterone gel (Crinone 8% twice daily) which started on CD13 that I felt quite dry and had minimal cm. Since Monday evening (CD22) I’ve found I’ve had quite a bit of cm, quite loose consistency (at one point I thought perhaps af had come ridiculously early) and this has been the case on and off since then to the extent I’m considering wearing panty liners/pads (despite disliking them because of synthetic fragrances).

Anyone else experienced this and was it a positive or negative sign?

otters2017 · 15/11/2017 20:53

It's self referral to midwife here too. No need to see gp. I'm 6 weeks today and no real symptoms. Think I'm just going to be grateful if I don't get awful sickness as long as little one is ok in there. Can't wait for the scan next week!

remember when are you having a scan to check how many are viable? Sorry if you've already said. I'm using progesterone pessaries and have to wear liners as it's messy and it leaks. Not sure about the gel but would guess that it's similar?

jojo sorry you're feeling so sick. Hope you had a better day today and have a restful weekend to look forward to

Rememberallball · 15/11/2017 21:39

No scan booked at present - will speak to Cyprus consultant next week when I’ve had bloods confirm success and will seek his advice about when to have a scan and will speak to GP to see about organising it.

JoJoSM2 · 15/11/2017 21:42

Remember, I’m on pessaries and liner too. CM has been generally strange (usually not there but ample at other times) but I’m hoping it gets better once I’ve stopped the meds. Are you going to test with pee sticks at home? Waiting till OTD or sooner?

Otters, 6 weeks! Quite a milestone. Not long till the scan!

Rememberallball · 15/11/2017 21:49

Not sure if I’m getting symptoms here - tonight my breasts are quite tender and nipples more prominent.

Another stupid question - my ET was in the afternoon and I’ve been counting days from the following morning (Friday) as 1dp5dt - is that right or should I have waited till Saturday?

Rememberallball · 15/11/2017 21:55

Hi JoJo, I’ve been doing ic pee sticks for a few days already - and yet to get anything on them. I’ve got 1 FRER ready for when I get a squinter and a few more on their way from Amazon!!

JoJoSM2 · 15/11/2017 22:04

Remember, I don't know about pregnancy symptoms as a lot of them are due to the meds we're on. If I remember right, Twicker, Goodluck and I started POAS early and got bfp's at 6dp5dt.

Rememberallball · 15/11/2017 22:09

Thanks, JoJo - today was 6dp5dt so perhaps tomorrow might show something!!

otters2017 · 15/11/2017 22:10

I waited till 9dp5dt as adviced by clinic. I found the ic less sensitive and didn't pick anything up until much later on. The FRER is good but expensive!

remember I counted from the next day as well same as you. Sounds about right

Twickerhun · 16/11/2017 07:02

I counted that way and tested at 6dp5dt. It’s all very exciting for you.

Otters scan Tuesday right? How do you feel about that?

otters2017 · 16/11/2017 07:22

twicker feeling nervous and excited. I've been having anxiety dreams since BFP but last night I dreamt that I could feel a heartbeat (?) but woke up shortly after. Hope it's a good sign! How are you feeling about re scan? Do you have symptoms currently?

Rememberallball · 16/11/2017 08:31

Morning all. Did a FRER test this morning and it’s negative at my calculation of 7dp5dt. Hit more arriving today or tomorrow so will keep trying!!
