Hi all. We're a group of first timers who've been plugging away on the conception boards for some time. The support here is amazing so if you're in a similar boat please jump onboard.

Time to hand hold through treatments and support each other through to becoming the mums we deserve to be 💪🏼🌸🙏🏼

Scratch was fine - a bit painful but very quick and the doctor was lovely. Plus she said I could start my injections tonight which is great as at least my husband can be there for the first one.

jam I'm on buserelin 0.5ml - have to have it for 21 days (feels like a lifetime) and then I go for a scan on 8th Nov before hopefully moving on to stims. I weirdly feel quite excited to get started.

geeup · 18/10/2017 17:56

@struggleisreal good luck with your first injection. My top tips are:

  1. make sure it goes in straight so at a right angle to your skin. If it's angled, it hurts more.
  2. LET GO OF YOUR FAT BEFORE PUSHING IN PLUNGER. You only pinch to insert the needle. The plunger goes in when your skin is slack.
  3. once you've pushed the plunger all the way down, leave it for a few seconds before pulling out of your skin - most of the time I didn't bleed if I did that.
  4. don't worry if there's a tiny bubble in the injection - it won't hurt you when you're doing injections into fat as we do (obviously avoid lots or any big ones but don't fret!)
  5. don't worry if a tiny bit of clear fluid escapes after you pull out the needle - it's not buserlin, it's from your skin.
  6. lastly if you need to carry your needles around with you, I used a pencil case or small wash bag with some bubble wrap in it. Don't fret about temperatures - obviously avoid getting really hot so don't leave next to your laptop but i did mine in a train loo on once of the hottest days of the year and it all worked fine. Any questions just ask! Good luck and don't fret.

otters unfortunately not - only just left office.... am shattered and have another early start tomorrow 😴
Waiting to hear how you got on 🤞🏼

chlo Flowers and

struggle I am loving the ASOS calendar - only 1 item so far that contains a nasty, fertility damaging silicone (cyclopentasiloxane) which I will give to someone who does not care about that. It brings me such joy and excitement to open up each morning Grin
Hope scratch went well.

jamon you still could conceive through chukka-chukka - this first round may all you need as a kick start.

What a fcuker pug Flowers

geeup amazeballs advice!! Where were you when I started injecting in 2015??? Wink

geeup · 18/10/2017 19:00

I know. Wish someone had told me those things @kwick I did a lot of googling and youtubing and stabbing myself wrong to get that knowledge!

geeup · 18/10/2017 19:05

Also to give everyone confidence when I started, I only injected at home. Within a week I had to inject in the car in a traffic jam (with DH driving!). By the end of my cycle I'd injected in the loo of a moving southwest train, in BAFTA (work event), in the work loos (more than once), in several restaurant loos and even once in a bar/club thing (work do) in almost total darkness Shock. You get the hang of it I promise.
Also don't let it run your life. This is something you have to do to meet your take home baby but it's just one part of your life. Still going out and socialising and spending quality time with your partner/friends talking about non-IVF stuff is important to keep you sane. That's how I approached it by my second cycle anyway!

otters2017 · 18/10/2017 19:55

Quick update - they collected 8 eggs!!! It's amazing given my age and low AMH. predicted 3-4 eggs so am over the moon. Sperm looked ok so we don't need ICSI. Now to wait for the phone call tomorrow.
Feel so tired and a bit achey. Will catch up later xx

struggleisreal · 18/10/2017 20:12

Amazing otters that is great news. Fingers crossed for all of them to fertilise. Rest up and hope you feel better.

Thanks gee for the tips - so helpful! I was a bit worried about the air bubble thing so you've put my mind at rest! I'm going to do the injections at 10pm so hopefully I can make it home most nights - plus I feel like I'm turning into a bit of a hermit anyway as I'm wary of making plans in case I feel rubbish. Probably not the best idea though as I'm sure I'll start going mad before long!

geeup · 18/10/2017 20:29

A great haul @otters2017 well done.

InspectorPenguin · 18/10/2017 20:42

Fabulous Otters!

And thanks for the tips Gee. The nurse took us through the process last week but to be honest I was still really confused afterwards and was planning to YouTube it. You make it sound much less daunting!

otters2017 · 18/10/2017 21:34

Hi everyone

Can't believe how tired I feel! It's my first time having a GA.

struggle glad the scratch went ok and that you can start injections tonight. Hope it goes well.

chlo hope you got coffee and chocolate. Life deals some pretty shit cards sometimes doesn't it! Really hope you get some ace ones soon

Great tips gee

pug Angry must be so frustrating

jamon how are you getting on? It's good to have acceptance and look forward to ivf strange as it may sound. I think I started off too negatively as it's been such a long road full of disappointment even when we got told good things ie scan looks good or blood results are fine I just kept looking for what could go wrong. I know the journey isn't over and there's so many things that could go wrong but we are just going to take it a day at a time and be thankful when things go well like today.

kwick · 19/10/2017 06:20

Yay otters amazeballs!!!!! Hope you get some good news today!!

@sk1pper we miss you!!! Hope you are well and receiving all the positive energy we are sending 😘

InspectorPenguin · 19/10/2017 12:59

Good news here. AF arrived on Tues night and so I could go for my scan today. The cyst that was there on Thursday has gone so I am all clear to start on the injections tonight. Hooray! 💉

Glad the scratch was okay Struggle and hope you're nicely recovered after the GA Otters.

otters2017 · 19/10/2017 13:55

Good news, 5 eggs fertilized!! so excited and it's better than we expected. We know it's still early days and so much can still go wrong but just need to hold on to this for now and be happy. Tomorrow is another day. Will find out Sat morning if we are having a day 3 or day 5 transfer.

inspectorpenguin Glad the cyst has gone and you can start your injections. Hope it all goes well.

geeup · 19/10/2017 16:18

Great news re cyst @InspectorPenguin and hurrah for 5 @otters2017 that's fantastic. Fingers crossed for the next stage. Try and keep your mind busy!

Jamon · 19/10/2017 16:32

Sorry pug :( you are not a fool to get your hopes up. We are only human and to have hope means we still have faith - which we should. Definitely good news it made you ovulate x

struggle well done and good luck starting with jabs. It seems random to me what drugs they put you on. I'm on progynova to down regulate, which is a tablet I'm pretty sure. They don't explain why that over something else, or what does or why. Wish I could get more information really.

geeup your stabbing tips are amazeballs. I'm going to print these for when we get started.

Thanks kwick you are right xx

5 eggs fertilised is amazing otters I'm thrilled for you. I will be rooting for all of them.

penguin that's amazing news! All the best getting started this evening. You'll be alright with a doctor on hand!

skipper thinking of you also and sending positive vibes your way

Also treated myself to a mooncup this cycle. Was on softcups before. F me its a bit of a difference though?! They are a bugger to get in.

Very glad I got the smaller size. Was having to flipping stuff it up there with all my might!

Kwick - how weird, it messaged me on my old username and then changed it back again. 🤔 I’m fine, had another cyst rupture this cycle so spent a night in hospital on Tuesday (i was blacking out from pain - hit my head badly so it was more for concussion). I’m having a laparoscopy next week - they think something hasn’t been showing on the ultrasounds I’ve been having. Might get all the answers I’ve ever wanted. A little down in the dumps just because I’ve had the pain for a while and it’s draining. I’m thinking of throwing in the towel to be honest, my quality of life is so poor right now between these and the periods.

Anyway this is precisely the reason I was avoiding the thread, nothing positive to say - hope everyone is getting on well with their IVF treatments. Certainly looks like you all are - proud of you all ❤️

InspectorPenguin · 19/10/2017 17:33

Oh Sk1p, you poor thing, I didn't realise you were going through so much at the moment. Please don't feel you have to avoid posting - that's the point of this thread isn't it? To share our highs and lows and to support each other.

Just focus on getting better and looking after yourself for now. If the laparoscopy gives better intel on what's going on then things could very quickly improve for you. So sorry you've had a shitty time though Flowers

Sorry Pug, as Jam says don't feel silly. With progesterone levels that high and high temps we'd all be hopeful. Can you chat through your questions with your doctor?

Jam the Mooncup (or Duchess Cup which I have) is a life changer! I would never go back now. Persevere with it!

Jamon · 19/10/2017 18:23

Oh skipper you poor thing that sounds absolutely awful. Understand if you need the space but equally please lean on us if you need support. We are all thinking of you xx

Otters that’s awesome news about your egg haul.* Fx for a positive next step.* 🤞

Sk1p ah hunny I’m so sorry you’ve been having a rough time.* Can’t believe your ovary is playing silly buggers again!!!! Please don’t throw in the towel just yet, keep hope and lean on us. Here if you need a chat privately.* Xxx

Struggle the scratch sounds scary.** Well done you for sticking it out like a trooper!!

Jam 😂 sorry but the visual with you and your mooncup.* There’s not a chance you’d get me sticking one up my hoo har.*

Penguin yay for injections!! In a weird sadistic ironic kinda way.** 🤞

Pug sending hugs. Please don’t worry about that. Since my mmc my LP has been 9 days. Ewww. Have you been prescribed progesterone? I certainly think that’s what I’m lacking.* And repeat with me, it’s not silly to be hopeful.* STOP!

I just got out of my first acupuncture session.* Loved it. She was FANTASTIC and is going to work on a plan of action. She’s given me a list of foods to try and eat and wants to see me again in 2 weeks. I was so nervous and I now feel it’s the best decision I went ahead and booked an appointment. She did some heat thing on my tummy too to encourage the little egg to implant.* Come on little egg!!!! You can do it!!!! 🤞😊

kwick · 20/10/2017 08:05

That is great news Inspector!

Way to go otters!!!

@sk1pper FFS!!! I really feel for you but I hope you are very near to getting some answers. You are an amazing strong valiant woman and you deserve to get some answers, be pain free and have a baby!!
I just started The Hormone Coach on Instagram- if next check does not provide you with the info you need.

mouse that sounds great!!! 🤞🏼implantation is happening!!!

Happy Friday everyone!!!

WingingIt83 · 20/10/2017 16:20

otter what a great haul!

pug I really wouldn't worry about an 11day lp, that's perfectly workable Smile. And as for getting your hopes up that's me all over!

Even 20+ months in I still have a little tingle of 'am i'. This months new symptom is having a dodgy tummy first thing after being up about 15mins. The run to the toilet type..... nothing tends to actually come of it but it's made me late for work 3 times as daren't leave the loo Blush It then subsides as quickly as it's come on.

And last night I had a very vivid dream about being in labour and the subsequent first day or two after giving birth. I felt all the emotions I imagine I would feel in real life, with just a few weird 'dream stuff' thrown in.....like in labour they sedated me rather than giving pain relief Grin and once I was at home with my baby I realised no one had bothered to check the sex, so had to peel back the nappy to check (it was a boy). ConfusedGrin

WingingIt83 · 20/10/2017 16:22

It's still bothering me..... I can still feel the way i felt in that dream and have been thinking about it all day Sad

KerryLeanne84 · 20/10/2017 16:26

I'm so sorry winging our minds can okay cruel tricks on us sometimes ❤️
