How do you know you haven't ovulated? Did you have blood tests done?(Sorry , can't remember if you have mentioned this before)

Yes I think the plan is to stick on 50mg until the consultant says otherwise. Not sure what the long term plan is if this doesn't work though...I don't want to think about that!

I have heard of plenty of stories from ladies that have switched up to 100/150mg and its worked for them. I guess your body needs to adjust too so we can't be too hard on ourselves when it hasn't worked straight away!

AmyL88 · 29/08/2017 12:00

@ElizabethCatherine That sounds exciting!! I can imagine the injections aren't looking too appealing however think how amazing the outcome will be Smile

Can i ask, Did you get tested for insulin resistance? Neither my GP or consultant have mentioned this to me so I am unsure but I have heard a lot of people are put on Metformin either on its own or with clomid?!

SLady · 29/08/2017 12:39

Yes I hear so many people are on both. And yes just shows you probably are insulin resistant ElizabethCatherine If the metformin had an effect. I'd love to have one of those glucose tests to be sure!

As you seem to be ovulating on the lowest dose of Clomid I expect they won't bother Amy as it's doing the trick. I'm wondering if it might be an option for me if 100mg doesn't work...theyve never mentioned it to me either.

So how long do you inject for ElizabethCatherine maybe your DH can do that bit for you? What happens after the injections? Do you feel better after the appointment and chatting it through? X

SLady · 29/08/2017 13:17

I just read up on the whole process. I didn't realise there were quite a few weeks of injections. I'm sure it will be weird at first but you will just get used to it after a while

ElizabethCatherine · 29/08/2017 18:10

@AmyL88 I had blood taken and then told to take metformin for 2 months and then go for a follow up which is ok sept 6 I guess to see how things are going? They just put me on it before testing I guess? I found it strange too. She was like "oh lots of people are on metformin with pcos so just give it a go or doesn't hurt" sono wonder what the follow up and bloods will be like then.

@SLady I would like to try this glucose test to I was never offered it! Maybe I'll ask about that for curiosity

It was all a bit overwhelming there is lots of different injections to do I expected to have a one of one appointment with a nurse to go over all the consents (a huge stack btw) and there was about 5 other couples all around the same age as me sitting in a room watching a powder point and a nurse and embryologist speaking about ivf and showing the injections. Just shows you how common it is! Not sure how many meds and dosages I need exactly yet until my blood results come back. I start taking birth control for 13 days, then take the pill to make you have a bleed, then go for a scan on day 2 of period to make sure all is clear and then start injection that day so I think first one for me will be last week of September.. I think ivf will be October first part

@AmyL88 how did u get on with ur scan today, I had a mature egg on cycle day 14, and she said to me to BD for the next 10 days :) and I got pregnant Grinit's weird to think I saw my him as an egg first x

SLady · 29/08/2017 21:40

Yes I wouldn't mind paying private for it, if only for the reason that I know I'm not depriving myself of cake and biscuits for nothing! Haha.

Yes I bet it's alot more common than we realise! That's weird you have to go on birth control before inducing a bleed?! So you've got a few weeks until you start the process then. Exciting!

Yes AmyL how did your scan go?

AmyL88 · 30/08/2017 07:36

Morning all,

Scan went well. She could see the egg has been released so now I wait for the blood test on Monday to see if i have 'chemically ovulated' as she said physically I have. If the blood test doesn't come back with the good news she said the consultant will probably up my dosage to 100mg.

@Lorddenning1 for the next 10 Days!! I was told only for the next couple of days and that was last Thursday Confused Congrats on your pregnancy though that is so lovely , how far are you now? x

Lorddenning1 · 30/08/2017 09:42

He is 7 months old now :) conceived on 150mg of Clomid and 1000mg of metformin, month 5 of trying with Clomid, my story is further up on the thread, she defo told me 10 days and she was so certain that I would ovulate she never booked me in for bloods are a scam after the day 14 scan and she was right :)

SLady · 30/08/2017 10:23

Great news AmyL - FX for you! Must make the 2ww even more nervewracking/exciting to know youve ovulated. Lol well with no monitoring it's even more than 10 days!! We DTD from about CD9 to CD23 and then we find out Clomid didn't even blimming work 🙈

Sunny1984 · 30/08/2017 11:51

Just catching up! That's fantastic news AmyL! What day are you now?

How's the 100mg going SLady? I have a hideous headache this time that I just can't get rid of Confused. Will you bother doing OPKs this time?

SoapyChoc · 30/08/2017 13:01

Afternoon all, just catching up. Great news AmyL keeping my fingers crossed for you. ElizabethCatherine glad to hear things are moving along with the ivf, sounds like a longer process than I realised.
Regards the insulin resistance bloods mine was done as part of either r the day 3 or day 21. Not sure which but they had the results at my first appt and skimmed through them out loud.
I've had my hycosy today which was painful but bearable. Left tube great right 'wibbly' but did go through eventually. She said I looked like I was about to ovulate but not to try this cycle. I have been given the Clomid but they have now decided I need to lose more weight so have had to promise not to take it yet. She has also said she thinks the Metformin is doing something and it's worth having another couple of months of that while I lose the weight.

SLady · 30/08/2017 14:14

Oh no poor you sunny. I haven't had any symptoms whatsoever! On 50mg I had hot night sweats and I haven't even had those...probably not a good sign really!
Hmm I'm not sure if I will, probably not...although they worked for you last time didn't they?

Glad it was ok soapychoc. How mean!...You're going to have to try and show real self restraint! Hopefully the metformin will speed up the weight loss. How much do you need to lose?

AmyL88 · 30/08/2017 14:47

Thanks all, I am currently on CD20. Really hoping for good news from the blood test next week I feel like this process has taken so long to get to this point!

@SoapyChoc That's going to take some will power but will be for the best. I ideally need to lose more weight. I conceived my son naturally 5 years ago but i was around 1.5 stone lighter and was exercising 3 times a week!

@Lorddenning1 Sorry for asking again, i will go back and read your story. I can't wait for a squishy 7 month old Smile

@SLday stay positive!! Are you having a CD21 bloods done this cycle? Did you ask about being monitored with scans?

SLady · 30/08/2017 15:17

Not too long left to wait Amy hope the next week goes speedy for you.
I did ask but they don't monitor at all so I think I would have to pay privately for the scans. It would be nice to have the monitoring but I don't feel like it would benefit me in anyway, like it won't help me ovulate or increase my chances it'll just confirm what I'll already know by the end of the month, if I ovulated or not, if you know what I mean? So I don't think I'll bother going down that route. I suppose it's good to check lining but I need to actually ovulate first before i worry about that! I'll have a CD21 blood test on my second go of 100mg. Hopefully I'll be up the duff by then Grin

SoapyChoc · 30/08/2017 15:43

Hi all. About 1.5 stone more to lose to start the Clomid. I was told previously a higher number which I got down to so just got to get back to losing some more. Sods law my first ever all inclusive holiday is next week. Aiming to be quite active and not go mad with eating then get right back to being strict when we get home.
It's interesting how each area does things differently. We have to be monitored at least first cycle due to risk of multiple and no dtd until after the scan. I guess there is no completely 'right' way. Certainly different docs at the same place seem to differ in their appoach.
When will you have your blood results Amy?
Good luck for this cycle SLady it must be difficult not knowing what's going on ovulation wise. I guess for all of us we just have to try and keep busy to stop ourselves going mad.

SLady · 30/08/2017 17:04

Thank you soapychoc. Yes that's certainly one thing that sucks about not being monitored...having to wait 28-35 days to know whether it worked!! Feels a lifetime!! Yes I agree, extremely annoying that everywhere is different and not consistent!
Well done for losing your target weight already, hopefully with the help of metformin you can get down to the next target. Ooh lovely, don't worry, lots of swimming and healthier choices and just enjoy. Relaxing will do you good Smile

Lorddenning1 · 31/08/2017 07:36

@AmyL88 your story sounds like mine, i conceived my 1st naturally and I was carrying extra weight etc, I would say Clomid is a god send :)

AmyL88 · 31/08/2017 10:09

I know what you mean @SLady , at least you can tell from the bloods if its worked.

@SoapyChoc They said i should call back 3/4 days after blood test so that would put me at CD 28 I will know. Seems a bit tight time wise if i have to up my dosage but we shall see. I am really going to try and hold off testing until after my results as I waste so much money on bloody POAS! Are you following any kind of diet plan? I have previously lost 2 stone on Slimming world and need to get back on it asap!

Aw @Lorddenning1 I really hope i have the same outcome as you! Smile

SoapyChoc · 31/08/2017 14:49

Ah ok so hopefully this time next week you'll know if you ov'd AmyL Lord knows how much I have spent POAS over the last couple of years it's hard not to isn't it? I did go to SW but didn't really like the group leader this time so ended up giving up. I lost the majority of what I have lost so far by counting calories and making sure I had a deficit versus what my Fitbit said I had burned each day. So no set limit but had to exercise more if I wanted to eat more. In order to have accountability I send my Mum and friend a photo of my weight each Thurs morning. I haven't done so for the last few weeks so after holiday I will be right back on it.

SLady · 01/09/2017 19:20

I've had the worst baby bomb today. You know the one you are dreading...that one. Feeling so shitty Sad Sad

Sunny1984 · 02/09/2017 00:18

Oh no SLady, I'm so sorry. They really are the most fucking awful thing to deal with. Was it unexpected? Sending lots of hugs xxx

SLady · 02/09/2017 09:07

Thanks sunny. I know it's so hard to deal with, I dread the day everyone around me is pregnant and I'm the only one who's not! She's more like a frienemy now really...does anyone have those in their life? Which is what has made it difficult. Felt so teary last night, I reacted worse than I thought I would even though I was dreading it and sort of prepared for it. Maybe the Clomid is making me more emotional too. I haven't had a single symptom which is also making me worried it's not worked again! Sad

How are you anyway sunny

SoapyChoc · 02/09/2017 18:09

Flowers SLady it's just shit isn't it.

SLady · 02/09/2017 20:52

It really is SoapyChoc Sad
Had a nice day with my DH today which has made me feel alot brighter. 4 more rounds to go yet, positive thinking!
