Hey, hope everyone is having a good weekend.
SLady I guess the consultant being away has given you a few extra days to wait and see if AF comes by herself! I know what you mean I was adamant I didn't want to get to the point where I was desperate for a baby but here I am now desperate!!
On a positive I think the 100mg dose may get me to ovulate as I've had a positive OPK today Smile. Seems really early as l'm only day 12. Will carry on with DTD Eod incase it's wrong!! I really hope the Clomid works as I found out yesterday where I live all funding for IVF is stopping Sad seems so unfair!

SLady · 14/08/2017 12:37

No AF, picking up my norethisterone and 100mg today. Probably start the nore on Weds.
I know it's so hard not too, I think the TTC process actually makes the feeling more intense as you pin alot of hope on to it. After I've finished a cycle after a week or so i do feel more relaxed.
Excellent news! Yes keep DTD EOD incase but it's good to know and get a marker. Did you get any positives on the 50mg? Yay FX this is your dose!!
That's so unfair, its so awful how one couple can have funded ivf and another have none! Our pct was also going to stop funding altogether but it went out for consultation to the public etc and thankfully got rejected so I still get 2 free goes which I'm thankful for. Hopefully we won't need it though sunny!!

littleemma1 · 14/08/2017 22:03

HI Sopay, I have just recently been put onto Metformin and I am REALLY struggling with it but want to push with it because I am so hoping it helps! I'm finding its making me so god damn nauseous as soon as I wake up and just before bed, but also if I go too long without eating. I am also prone to a sore tummy having suffered with a previous ulcer so they gave me lanzoprazole (tummy protectors) but I still seem to be getting pains and so much wind/bloatness. Are you any better?
I got an updated letter from Gyno to GP the other day saying it is suspected PCOS but need another ultrasound and if the pain still persists for me as my cycle goes on I have to have an exploratory laparoscopy. OH is not wanting me to do it because of the risks but Im taking it as a last resort.
Hows everyone else getting on? AmyL hope youre having a lovely holiday! xx

SoapyChoc · 15/08/2017 10:04

Hi littleemma how many tablets a day are you on and did you have to build up slowly? I am on 2 a day now. I had 3 lots of diarrhoea last week whilst still on one a day but touch wood have been ok since. I feel quite tired at the moment and couldn't stomach the thought of my dinner last night so just had cereal. I would say overall it's not too bad at this current moment and if the diarrhoea stays away/settles when I have got up to 3 a day and am used to that dose I will carry on with it.
Do you know yet when your next ultrasound will be?
Hope everyone else is keeping on plodding on and doing ok.

ElizabethCatherine · 16/08/2017 18:53

Hi everyone! I hope you all have been ok! Been lurking in the background and was on hols for 3 weeks not thinking about TTC and it was greeeat. But now back to it!
I have my follow up appointment tomorrow and I have to decide to either go for clomid or right to ivf and I'm so so nervous to make a decision. I'm gearing more towards ivf as I don't have much time left in the U.K. But I am so so nervous and see it as a last resort kinda thing :/ no one else gets that they are like ok just go right for ivf! But a little bit of me wants to hold back for some reason. If I choose the clomid route I have to see it through until I leave the uk and miss my chance at ivf if it doesn't work and then back on the wait lists in Canada and it's also not covered under medical there. Ahhh just freaking out :(

@littleemma1 @SoapyChoc I have been put on metformin 500mg a day and my doc didn't really explain why I need it and if I even need it! She was like oh I'll put you on this because lots of people are on it with pcos so there is no harm and took a blood sample and sent me away for 2 months. Eh?! Why are you ladies on it if you don't mind me asking. I wonder if it's even worth putting in my body if she's not even sure if I need it. Find it's so 'standard practice' for everything and not focused on people's individual needs

@ElizabethCatherine it's something to do with being insulin resistant, which is common in people with PCOS, as a result your hormones are all over the place and it can stop ovulation, so by regulating insulin levels it will help hormones which hopefully makes us ovulate :)

littleemma1 · 17/08/2017 07:51

@ElizabethCatherine that's basically what they said to me, had no idea if it would work but they've put me on it for 3m anyway xx

SLady · 17/08/2017 10:29

My doctor hasn't even mentioned metformin but if my progesterone levels still aren't raised with 100mg then I might suggest it as I obviously need some extra help!
Welcome back elizabethcatherine hope you had a good holiday. Let us know how your follow up appt goes today and what you decide

SoapyChoc · 17/08/2017 11:35

Welcome back from your holiday ElizabethCatherine have you started the Metformin? My Doc said it can help to regulate cycle with PCOS. I am not insulin resistant but it can still help apparently. I have also since seen somewhere online something saying that some people need that with Clomid for the Clomid to work although that was someone's comment on a forum rather than an official source so not sure whether that is proven or not. Definitely worth mentioning SLady. I have also seen people online saying it has helped them with weight loss and not to snack so much as their blood sugar levels are more stable.

SLady · 17/08/2017 12:27

Yes I think all that is true soapychoc. I also read that some people need metformin combined with Clomid for it to work. I'm going to see how I get on with the first round of 100mg first and then I am going to ask! Or at least find out the reason why it's not being offered!

ElizabethCatherine · 17/08/2017 16:27

Thanks @SoapyChoc + @Lorddenning1 that was put in such a simple yet understanding way! If only they said that in the first place ha!

So we have decided to go for IVF! Eeeeek. August 28th we have a 3 hour appointment with a nurse to have a full run down on what's going to happen and start meds! Doc said IVF will be scheduled for September. Super nervous, probably more anxious then excited at this point!

SLady · 17/08/2017 16:54

Eeeks Elizabethcatherine bet you feel relieved to have made a decision now and least you can get on with it right away. Is this via the nhs? How many goes do you get with them? You'll have to keep us updated on your journey. It's been on my mind alot more lately since 50mg didn't work for me but I know nothing about it!

ElizabethCatherine · 17/08/2017 17:11

@SLady yeah I feel good for just making a decision. It's so hard for me to do, with anything in life even choosing my nail polish colour when I'm at the salon lol I pick 2 and let them choose. So I guess I used that with this too I'm like your the doc what do you recommend I do. Option 1 or option 2. Oh god did I just compare my ivf situation to choosing a nail colour? I'm clearly insane LOL. I know a little bit about it only from YouTube. But I guess I'll know a lot more after a 3 hour appointment with the nurse to discuss it all at the end of the month. I'll keep you guys posted on what goes down in case anyone else is looking at going that route at some point. I'm having it done on the NHS in West London. I have 1 free ivf round, and 1 frozen embryo transfer if the first round doesn't work. If there is left over eggs after that they can freeze them for £400 a year

OP posts:
littleemma1 · 17/08/2017 18:53

@ElizabethCatherine I had to do my own research on why it was used as they didn't really explain it. That's exciting that you've made a decision, please do keep us posted and good luck! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
I think my body must be adjusting to metformin as I woke up this morning without feeling sick and shitty, yay!! Xx

SLady · 18/08/2017 08:40

Haha. Happy for you Elizabethcatherine and wishing you all the luck with your ivf! Definitely keep us updated.
I'm on day 3 of norethisterone and been getting my usual stomach pains. This part is the worst...Nearly 2 weeks until I can start my next round!

Lorddenning1 · 18/08/2017 08:59

I couldn't handle the metformin :( 3 x doses of 500mg it was just too much, I went down to 2 x doses of 500mg, doctor said it was fine x

SLady · 18/08/2017 09:26

Seems I'm the only one who hasn't been offered it. I've got such a dud doctor waaahhhh!

SoapyChoc · 18/08/2017 10:25

Best of luck with the IVF ElizabethCatherine please do keep us updated. I can imagine you'll be flitting between nervous and excited and everything in between. I hope it's successful for you.
Glad you are starting to feel better littleemma my tummy seems to have settled down now after being a bit rough again earlier this week. I am upping to 3 a day starting today. I seemed to feel really shattered a couple of days after starting and then alright after that and the same when I upped to 2 a day. Lorddening I'm hoping I can cope with 3 a day but I guess if not I could stick with 2.

Sunny1984 · 18/08/2017 10:58

Hey all,

Elizabethcatherine that's great you have made a decision and won't have to wait for too long. I'm sure you must be full of both excitement and nerves.
Littleemma and SoapyChoc I struggled with 1500mg a day not nausea just constantly wanting to make sure I knew where the toilet was and a bag full of Imodium!! Spoke to my GP, who luckily is amazing, she suggested slow release and touch wood no more problems for the last 2 months!!
SLady I was told I wasn't insulin resistant but there was apparently still some evidence it can help with PCOS and Clomid. May be worth pushing it with GP? How's the nor going? I hate that past of the process but I'm keeping everything crossed 100mg is your dose!!
I'm CD 17 pretty sure I O'd on CD 12 so just waiting for AF or not to come!!!

Probably a stupid question but has anyone been given advice about exercising will taking Clomid? I've had one nurse say I shouldn't be doing more than walking, asked a different nurse to clarify and she was like why wouldn't you carry on?!! So confused!!

ElizabethCatherine · 18/08/2017 10:59

Thanks ladies for wishing me luck! Will keep you all updated. Just over 4 months until the new year guys! We can all do this!! Positive vibes and bubs for everyone. 2018 has got to be a good year for everyone - having a baby or falling pregs it's just gotta happen!!!!

OP posts:
SLady · 18/08/2017 11:43

Oh really sunny if the 100mg doesn't work I am going to definitely ask about it. Nore is ok apart from I get stomach pains for the first few days, im getting to be an old hand at the nore now though! Thank you, im really hoping it's the one too. And wishing you lots of luck for this round. Hope your 2ww flies by!
My doctor said exercise was beneficial, I've never heard of not exercising on clomid. I'm joining a gym at the weekend, definitely feel like exercise might help!

Positive vibes and baby dust for everyone. We need some bfps on this thread, its been a while!!

SLady · 18/08/2017 12:27

I was thinking the other day how it's so lovely how we are all going through the same thing and none of us know each other but are helping and supporting one another through it. It's a pretty wonderful thing really and this thread has helped me so much so thanks everyone!
Just thought I'd share the love on this Friday Smile

ElizabethCatherine · 18/08/2017 13:26

@SLady I agree. You have all helped me SO much. No one else will ever understand the emotions and what you are feeling and going through unless you are going through it YOURSELF. No matter how much you tell someone they will never truly understand. It's great to have support from all of you. WE ALL GET EACHOTHER! Love love love!
