Sooo... Speaking of annabellas good news.... I've also have had a bfp! I didn't post immediately, as I said before, I've been spotting but af hadn't arrived so I caved and poas. Couldn't believe the faint line.

Because of the spotting I was panicking, went into my clinic who did a blood test and they said my Hcg was low at 27 (progesterone OK tho),so they wouldn't be able to tell until 2nd test done. This was done today and hcg is 110 so looks much better.

Taking cyclogest coz of bleeding so fingers crossed it's going to stick. Pretty shocked still as thought it was game over with spotting, then still thought it was game over with the low hcg.

It just shows to shop around with fertility clinics. If I'd stayed with Zita West I would have gone straight into ivf as they said drugs won't make any difference but they were obviously wrong in my case.... Makes you wonder whether they just want to get £5-6k out of you rather than a few hundred quid.

aurora I'm sorry to hear af came, but it sounds like you've had a more promising cycle this month.

harry glad the HSG was not as bad as expected, good luck with the results

X

cluelessnewmum · 12/05/2017 19:25

PS if anyone wants to hear the drugs used etc then let me know as I think if I'd different from what most people seem to do, but as I say I was told ivf was the only option so I'm pleased with got there without that financial outlay x

Colabottles64 · 12/05/2017 20:26

Congratulations clueless, this is wonderful! Great to see some good news!

Hope everyone is well. I'm deep in the two week wait; 10dpo today. Don't have any signs but less than three weeks to my next nhs fertility clinic apt so a bit closer to more investigations which is progress of a form. Really really concentrating hard on finding the positives ha! X

blackcherries · 12/05/2017 20:52

harry good that it's over with and didn't show any problems.

What the heck!? Clueless I'm thrilled for you I bet you are in shock! I'll write more tomorrow girls super tired today x

Ilovechocolatetoomuch · 12/05/2017 22:45

Great news Clueless. So great to see bfp on an infertility thread, it gives me so much hope x

cluelessnewmum · 13/05/2017 08:50

Thank you all for your kind words. aurora yes total shock I can't believe it, I always associated spotting with starting my period so whenever I got it I always thought it was gone over. chocolate I'm glad it gives hope, the last thing I want to do is baby bomb.

harry yes more than happy to share my story.

I'm 34 (nearly 35 now), my dc is 2.5, this is 19th month of ttc. All hormone tests / amh etc OK for my age. Dh sperm test good for his age (40). No obvious problems, so unexplained fertility. Although I ovulate regularly my periods were irregular and often had a short luteal phase, but acupuncture sorted out my cycles so more regular and luteal phase of at least 10 days.

First fertility appointment with Zita West who said keep trying naturally for another 6 months and if that fails ivf is the only option, as I already ovulate so no point in doing fertility drugs like clomid etc.

Found another doctor (Mumsnet recommendation) called Colin Davis (works in Marylebone). He said worth trying 'ovulation induction' first which is basically injecting a lower dose of gonal f (which is the same drug as what you'd use for ivf but much lower as you're only aiming to get one, max two, eggs). You then dtd naturally at ovulation.

The idea is it gives you a 'stronger' ovulation or something, so still worth trying even if you ovulate.

It's up to 4 appointments (2 with him) which cost about £650 Inc the drugs. I got my bfp on the second round.

Not saying it would work for everyone but I've not heard of anyone else doing this process on the fertility forums, but it might be pretty common, I don't know. Mr Davis is very nice, experienced and trustworthy, I would recommend him.

Hope that helps x

Hi ladies!
Sorry been MIA, trying to keep distracted from ttc.
Congratulations Clueless!! That's awesome!! I noticed you previously said you cramp a lot in 2ww, was that the case before this bfp? Aurora AF arrived on Tuesday 👎🏻 We'll be cycle buddies again, although sorry for your AF too.
I'm seriously considering IUI now, have in mind to try up to 3 cycles starting in July, I'm so sick of the monthly heart break 💔

Tee4me · 13/05/2017 22:28

Clueless I just read your account of achieving your bfp. Hmmm, really interesting perhaps this is another option for me before the IUI. I have a similar story to you, ttc for 18 months, I'm 34, both DH and I had tests which all came back fine, so unexplained. Ovulation regular, which is why I didn't think there was really much that could be helped in that department. DS is 4. DH really reluctant to try IUI let alone IVF, but it sounds to me like your experience with Mr Davis didn't really involve DH other than the usual DTD at ov?! Did you have to inject yourself with the gonal f?

cluelessnewmum · 14/05/2017 08:21

Hi tee thank you! Yes it sounds like our circumstances are very similar so the ovulation induction might be a good one to try for you too - I was the same, thinking that if you ovulate there's no point in taking Follicle stim drugs.

Yes this cycle has not been that dissimilar to the others - still got the crampy twinges, started spotting on day 24 but whereas usually it gets heavier every day this didn't, so that's why after the 4th day of spotting I did the test.

Yes your dh would not have to go to any appointments if he didn't want to, yes he just has to dtd with you at ovulation. Yes you do 5-6 Injections at the beginning of the cycle, but it is really easy and not a big deal once you've done the first one.

If you can get to London reasonably easily then it might be worth a chat with Mr Davis. Good luck in deciding the next step, I'm afraid I don't know anything about IUI, I know that's what I would have got with the NHS but was still on the waiting list for that. X

AurorasEncore · 16/05/2017 10:23

Hi ladies, I've been booked in for a vaginal scan. Has anyone had this ? What is it looking for? They are also doing AMH which I'm pleased about as it's not routine I don't think.

How are you feeling clueless? X

Ilovechocolatetoomuch · 16/05/2017 11:53

Hi. I am off for a lower abdomen scan this p.m. I was expecting a internal scan so will see what happens.
Auroas I'm guessing this is the same as what you are having??
I was told 3 week wait for AMH results and it's only been one. In a way I don't think I want to know, but be good to know what I'm dealing with.
Hope you guys are all o.k

Colabottles64 · 16/05/2017 12:14

Aurora The scan is very straightforward if anything like mine - it's a vaginal ultrasound and quite quick, they take different measurements of the lining, ovaries, uterus and they did mine on a certain day of cycle to do an Antral follicle count which shows how many follicles were there early on in cycle (the best goes on to be the egg released). They are looking to see if there are cysts also. I'm sure lots of other things but that's what I remember x

Ilovechocolatetoomuch · 16/05/2017 17:10

Aurora I survived. They just scan your tummy, then stick a probe inside and wiggle it round to look at your womb and ovaries. It was painless and prob took 10 mins at the most x

Tara04 · 16/05/2017 17:36

Aura I had that done unrelated to ttc it was years ago because of irregular periods like above it's a probe uncomfortable but not as bad as a smear test xx

AurorasEncore · 16/05/2017 18:13

Thanks ladies! Eurgh not looking forward to being probed lol but at least things are moving. We have had to cancel the SA for ovulation day as the referal hospital wants to do it themselves and GP had us going somewhere else. What a waste of 3 months! At least I'll not miss out fertile window this cycle. Woohoo can't wait Hmm

MsJuniper · 16/05/2017 19:25

Hi everyone. I have just been reading this thread, I did post on one of the other secondary infertility threads but I don't have exactly the same problem, mine is that I have had recurrent mc when trying to have a second DC (6 over 3 yrs, no succesful pg in this time). So I am not trying to join in as such but it sounds like you all have a lot of knowledge between you so I hope you don't mind my asking a couple of things.

I am going through tests at St Mary's for the mc but I went to Create to have fertility testing as I am almost 41 now and I wanted to have an idea of how long I've got to keep trying. They said my AMH was 6.3 which was ok for my age and TSH was 1.3 which was normal. Unfortunately neither of these things answer the question really, I suppose perhaps it's unanswerable but would be interested to know what anyone thinks of those results. The scan came back fine and blood flow all good.

They were keen for me to have ICSI straight away (low stimulation) due to my age but I am not sure it is right for me and I would have to take out a loan to do it. I was interested to read about clueless's experience with Mr Davis (congratulations btw!) - I googled him but there are several entries. Can I ask how you contacted him? Was it through The London Clinic? Thanks, I might be being dim.

I wish you all the best of luck, it is such a long hard painful road and so hard for anyone to understand when they haven't gone through it. xx

Ilovechocolatetoomuch · 16/05/2017 19:48

Hi
Ms Juniper. Sorry I don't have any advice but I really help you can find some answers here x

SofiePendragon · 16/05/2017 21:10

Hello can I join you all? I could use some advice and this thread seems nice and supportive.

I'm 36 (will be 37 in a couple of months). Ttc #2 since august 2015. Cycles all over the place since I had DD. Have had 2 CPs, in Feb 2016 and 2017. Had some bloods and a scan just before CP this year - scan normal, DH SA fine, bloods just showed lowish progesterone (28 then 22 in the cycle when I conceived). GP said no point in doing further tests when I phoned about the CP, just keep trying as I clearly can get pregnant. AF is now one week late and tests are Bfn.

I don't know what's going on or who to turn to - do i just bite the bullet and contact a private clinic (but most of the websites I've looked at just talk about ivf when I feel like there might be other options) or do I go back to the GP? Or do I keep trying for a few more months, given that I did conceive 3 months ago?
