Hello. Looking for other ladies (or men!) who are IVF cycling with the Victoria Wing at Nuffield Woking either privately or NHS to share what happens, how it's going, any tips (what's the car parking like?!), to support one another and success stories of course. My stats:
Geeup
Aged 34
Ttc #1 for 22 cycles so far (4 with Clomid)
OH has low morphology MFI (but it's varied)
NHS cycle - first appt 31st Jan with Dr Riddle
One question to get us going, anyone know what the policy is about having 2 embryos put in on first cycle? Thanks!

Amazing! Thanks geeup!!

Kimmy82 · 31/03/2017 20:33

Hi everyone, thought I just say hi.

Geeup hope you don't mind asking did they use ICSI for you ?

They wouldn't do it for us on this first cycle as my husbands sample was always really good.

Have a nice weekend everyone, thanks for all your kind words !

X

We were referred for icsi as my DH has had poor morphology most of the time we've been trying. However on the day they were happy his sample was good enough so we just did ivf in the end (they gave us the choice). I asked if we could do half and half but they said no it had to be one or the other as I didn't have enough eggs to do half and half. We always wanted to do ivf rather than icsi if we could do we were happy. (No disrespect to anyone who did icsi - we just wanted to keep things as close to normal TTC and natural selection etc if at all possible and we would totally have done icsi if required on the day. It's amazing to have that science available to us!).

Hi all, sorry for the radio silence - it's been quite a journey the past 2 weeks!
Geeup good luck for Monday. We had 5 fertilise, 3 make it to day 5, 1 transferred and frosted is in the freezer.
kimmy how absolutely fucking cruel and unfair. I'm so sad and angry on your behalf. I would need a debrief from the clinic, and quickly. Take time to grieve and look after yourself. Flowers

geeup · 01/04/2017 08:54

Drink - is baby here?!!!!

drinkyourmilk · 01/04/2017 09:15

Yes. But it feels wrong announcing on here.
Wasn't a straightforward induction, so she's only 7 days old.
I'll pm you.

Kimmy82 · 01/04/2017 11:10

Drink your milk please feel free to talk about it I will feel more positive to hear happy stories , thanks for your advise , I will definitely challenge them for more explanation as this shouldn't have had happened.

Geeup I'm exited for you on Monday hope all goes well .

Thanks kimmy .
We had a little girl born 24/3/17 @10:36am via CSection. We've called her Evelyn, she weighed in at 7lb 1oz. She refused the breast until yesterday but is now making up for lost time.
I had a failed 5 day induction prior to the section where i ended up connected to a sliding scale drip for 48 hours and needing hourly blood sugar monitoring. It was pretty awful, but I made it through.

Drink I'm so glad you shared! TTC can be so difficult with so many set backs along the way, it's really encouraging and heartwarming to hear about the successes, as this is ultimately what we are all striving for!
She is absolutely beautiful! Labour sounded pretty brutal, but you are through that now and can enjoy all the precious moments with your lovely daughter. Many congratulations xx

Kimmy82 · 01/04/2017 18:43

Wow Drink she's a cute little girl congratulations from all my heart ❤️ enjoy these months years to come nice to see there are many lucky people!

There was nothing wrong with us we were just very unlucky but we won't give up !

Hugs to you 💕

MrsDarcy4092 · 02/04/2017 08:04

Huge congratulations drink she's beautiful!

Kimmy do you know when you can start again?

Good luck geeup!

I'm on holiday in Devon and trying hard not to eat cream tea every day as our appointment is not long now !

geeup · 02/04/2017 18:36

Ah drink she is gorgeous - what we're all trying to get to!!
I need advice ladies. I have embryo transfer tomorrow and realised I have no idea what I'm supposed to do to prepare! Empty bladder, full bladder? Anything else I should know about?!

Flamingo44 · 02/04/2017 19:13

Congratulations Drink she's beautiful. Sorry to hear you had a challenging labour but I'm sure she's worth it!

Good luck for tomorrow Geeup can't help you with your questions I'm afraid!!

Enjoy Devon MrsDarcy!

Kimmy I hope you got your appointment to discuss what happened with the clinic and are able to start again as soon as you're ready.

I had my first scan and blood test on Friday, everything on the scan looked fine and more follicles than I've had counted before so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for my AMH result!

Kimmy82 · 03/04/2017 06:20

Thanks Flamingo and Darcy will keep you updated .

Geeup you don't need to prepare anything they will take you to give you the general anaesthetic around 10 , they will call your husband the same time on the phone to go good be his sample.

Don't eat and drink anything and you will be able to pee any time you need.

They will even feed your husband :)

Good luck x

Kimmy82 · 03/04/2017 06:25

Geeup I'm so sorry in my head you are having egg collection this shows the sad state of my mind, wish I could give you advice about embryo transfer but I can't :(
Good luck !

NorthSouth85 · 03/04/2017 15:02

Hi everyone

I've been away all weekend so just catching up on the thread.

Kimmy - sorry to hear what happened. I wasn't in the same situation, but have experience 2 failed cycles so know how disappointing it is. Take care.

Geeup - When I went for transfer I had to have a full bladder - but sure if Woking work like this but I would have thought it would be in the information you were given at the beginning. Apart from that there was nothing else to do but show up on time! Good luck with it!

Flamingo - looks like everything is going to plan! Fingers crossed for the AMH.

I went for a Hysteroscopy on Thursday and as expected there wasn't a polyp. So all good, I just need to take a pretty picture of my uterus to Woking when I eventually get an appointment! I received a letter to say they received my referral and I would get an appointment in 'due course'.

geeup · 03/04/2017 15:15

Turns out they were happy with empty or full bladder. I have one embie on board and one to freeze so that's good news. Had acupuncture before and after so hopefully that'll help. Been out for a nice lunch after so feeling pretty chilled.

Flamingo44 · 03/04/2017 15:30

Great news Geeup will keep everything crossed that implants nicely. When your say you had accupuncture before and after to you mean right before and right after? I already have accupuncture every 2 weeks, but I'm not sure what to do during my treatment!

Northsouth that's good that you got your letter. I don't think our appointment took too long after that so fingers crossed!

NorthSouth85 · 03/04/2017 15:45

Geeup - that's great news! Enjoy being PUPO!

Thanks Flamingo - I'm like a dog waiting to see what the post man has brought me every day! haha

geeup · 03/04/2017 15:59

Flamingo my Acupuncture lady does a special session the morning before ET and then I went there straight after and had another hour. Expensive but hopefully gives it the best shot.

OP posts:
Flamingo44 · 03/04/2017 16:32

Thanks Geeup is that local to the VW? My lady only does specific days (Wednesday and Saturday mornings) so I might look for an alternative as I've heard it's good to have around ET.

geeup · 03/04/2017 18:49

Yes I used Nadia at Crofton healthcare. Crofton House, Wych Hill, Woking, Surrey,GU22 0ES. 01483 770 529. She works around your appointments and if thoroughly recommend for their approach and service.

Flamingo44 · 03/04/2017 19:52

Thanks Geeup I'll look into it when I'm a little further along in the process!

moggle · 04/04/2017 12:07

Thanks for the recommendation geeup I've been looking for somewhere closer to home to do it. And congrats on being PUPO!
Having an endo scratch on friday in preparation for our next FET after last neg. Been persuaded after meeting with Mr Riddle to have two put back this time, eek. He was pretty certain that we wouldn't get twins...
Drink she is gorgeous, congratulations!!!

Kimmy82 · 06/04/2017 07:31

Hi everyone hope you are all :)

So updates the bacteria found in my husbands sample is called pneunomodus aeruginosa and it's a bacteria that you can get for example from hot tubs or if you have a catheter my husband had none of these so very strange . I am in VW to pick up his prescription. Apparently this bacteria is very resistant to antibiotics so even they normally treat the sperm with antibiotics prior to putting them together with the eggs this bacteria hides away then comes back to love on day 3 and 4 that's when they noticed in our embryo . My frustration is if I knew this is a potential risk we would have tested his sperm prior to start the ivf as this is something that is treatable and detectable but they said they only keep the sperm for 48 hours and it didn't show then but I still feel like they should have told us so we know and I would have been happy to get this checked even for additional cost. We will have an appointment on Monday with out consultant so I will ask them there's nothing the clinic can offer as I think they should take some responsibility for this. We have wasted our cycle ad this has been missed to be looked at both by GP and clinic. Not sure if this could be the reason why I couldn't get pregnant but if it kills the embryo it could be ?

What do you think I should say to the doctor on Monday ?
