Hello. Looking for other ladies (or men!) who are IVF cycling with the Victoria Wing at Nuffield Woking either privately or NHS to share what happens, how it's going, any tips (what's the car parking like?!), to support one another and success stories of course. My stats:
Geeup
Aged 34
Ttc #1 for 22 cycles so far (4 with Clomid)
OH has low morphology MFI (but it's varied)
NHS cycle - first appt 31st Jan with Dr Riddle
One question to get us going, anyone know what the policy is about having 2 embryos put in on first cycle? Thanks!

Really helpful. I'll ask at my follow up appointment. Well done for sticking at it. Certainly worth it in the end!!

Hi all,
I have been reading through all of your posts and hope you won’t mind me joining. We are due to start down regulation next Sunday (4 Feb) and thought it may be nice to have someone to talk to. Husband is great but sometimes he just doesn’t get it. We are NHS patients at the Victoria Wing. Any words of Wisdom before we start on this rollacoaster? Thanks

BeePositive · 26/01/2018 14:46

Welcome to the whirlwind ride that is IVF journey @NeverGiveUpandStayStrong I hope you find this thread as useful and I do, and the other wonderful ladies on here.

The main thing I'd say is that you should never expect anything. And by that I mean good or bad. You just never know what roadblocks you might have to face and overcome, and other things might go even smoother than you thought. So be informed as much as possible, we all try and share as much knowledge on here as we can and further places to read up, and keep positive as much as possible. Our other halves definitely have vested interest and try to understand and support us, but they will just never know what goes on deep down in our minds! Welcome and all the best with starting your injections next weekend. Is this your first cycle?

@SP33 - hope you are continuing to do well 12 weeks and beyond and the sickness is easing at least? Take care x

@Geeup - sounds like you are continuing to investigate options and gearing up for your next cycle. Any thoughts on timings?

I'm still waiting for AF to arrive after my D&C op at end of December. But had good chat with my consultant at VW recently and have high-level plan for future FET (likely end of March-time).

Have a great weekend ladies!

BeePositive · 26/01/2018 14:53

@Hopeful4ifv - are you still out there? Been thinking of you and wondering how you're getting on? What are you next steps? xxx

geeup · 26/01/2018 16:41

I hope your af shows up soon @BeePositive no idea on timings for me I'm afraid. Got an appointment in a few weeks with Nuffield to discuss next steps but feeling a bit wobbly about using my last Frosties with no suggested changes to help my odds. Just feels like a blind spin of the dice. Hope it'll work though. Just trying to focus on life day to day at the mo.
Welcome @NeverGiveUpandStayStrong hope this thread is useful to you!!

Geeup-maybe the embryos have not been the right ones. How many frozen do you have? What grade are they? I always did better with frozen embryos. I got lucky on my very last frozen embie and I had no nhs rounds left. I was at rock bottom and didn't believe it would work. I had an appointment at the lister lined up and went for the last round very half hearted. I drank a bit of alcohol while down regulating and didn't bother with acupuncture/massage/q10 or any of that. I didn't think it would work but felt I had to use my last Frostie. Well what a wonderful surprise it worked. I'm not saying "give up and it will work" I'm saying keep an open mind. Those frozen embies could be your take home baby. I would only put one back btw. One newborn is hard work-twins would be very very challenging!! Putting 2 back doesn't massively increase your odds. I was 5th transfer lucky with my 7th embryo. If I can help with anything, do send me a message. As hard as it is, try not to let it take over your life. I feel ivf and ttc robbed me of a couple of years of my life. I wouldn't do stuff 'just in case' I was cycling/getting ready to cycle/in 2ww/pregnant. I regret that now as it would have helped get me through the dark days! Xxx

geeup · 27/01/2018 11:51

Thank you. That is great advice and does give me hope. Am reeling a bit from two pregnancy announcements yesterday but trying to enjoy today and stop counting other people's babies! I have two Frosties left - a 3bb (5 day) and a 5ba (6 day) so not great I think.

OP posts:
BlueIris17 · 27/01/2018 12:18

My little boy was a 6 day blasto-can't remember the grade. You never know what may happen.

I feel for you with pregnancy announcements-terrible. You want to be happy but you just can't. Sometimes I couldn't look on Facebook because of scan photos. It really got me down. Try and have faith that it will happen for you. I had to believe that cos the alternative was unthinkable. You are at the start of this difficult journey and there are lots of options. There's are reason why NICE recommend 3 full cycles!! It can take that long. Some studies show 6 full cycles is what is needed. Xxxx

Hello Lovely Ladies,

Hope it is ok to join this group, I long like all of you to become a mum.

My journey in brief started to TTC end of 2013. In summer of
2014 had a smear test and found out I had Cervical Cancer.
I had two lots of surgery to remove and thank god have had clear annual smear test ever since. (Keeping fingers crossed for this year)
I was advised to try for children ASAP and once I had they will do a full hysterectomy.

Have been TTC ever since!!!!
I have PCOS and after TTC for so long I was sent to Mr Curtis from my GP.
He advised 3 rounds of Clomid, which I did without ultrasounds, my GP gave progesterone blood tests but these all came back that despite the Clomid still no ovulation.
Mr Curtis then advised Ovarian Drilling, before I used anymore Clomid, had this done last June.
Did one round of Clomid after the drilling, still not ovulating.

Was then called in to Mr Curtis who advised that they had removed a polyp from my uterus when doing my ovarian drilling, the biopsy results were back. They diagnosed me with Endometrial Hyperplasia with Atypia, which basically is pre-cancer cells in my uterus.

This news was obviously devastating, in order to keep my fertility to treat the cells I had to have the Mirena coil fitted in the August and was told I will need to have this for a minimum of six months before they will take new biopsies.

This past six months have felt like a life time, I am due to go and have my biopsy and repeat smear test in mid March.
If and only if they come back clear will I be able to move on with my fertility.

It has been advised that I move on to IVF to avoid wasting anytime and been referred to the VW.

My husband already has a child who does not live with us, so we do not qualify for NHS funding. My doctors including Mr Curtis have tried to appeal for us but a no it still is.
Self funding is going to be a real stretch for us but what else can we do.

I feel a total loss, did anyone else have no ovulation after Clomid try any other drugs on the NHS before they went down the IVF route?

Many thanks xx

Just been to VW for private treatment. It's very different for me as we were very lucky to be able to have 2 children naturally a few years ago but following the death of our daughter at 11months we have been the for 19 months with no luck. I have low amh and have been advised to have ivf by Dr Riddle. My only concern is my bmi the nurse said it best to get it down to under 30 but I'm above that now but the Dr said start ivf immediately. Can only afford 2 rounds of ivf so don't want to proceed now if it's more likely to not work unless bmi lower. Thoughts appreciated x

drinkyourmilk · 04/03/2018 22:20

Hi Ladies,
Hoping you don't mind me joining you.
We've an appointment with Dr Riddle on 10th April to discuss using our frostie.
I had a baby girl last March through the VW, and hoping they can pull off a double whammy!

MrsMidge0505 · 07/03/2018 07:08

Hi all
Certainly loads going on apologies for not mentioning all but I wish all of you positive vibes. Long post warning.... and I intend to chat more on here after a break xx

We are NHS at VW and have Mr Brooks. We have been TTC for about 5 yrs. in the last year had two failed fresh IVF (march and Nov) and one failed frozen where we had 2 fat 5AA go back ( BFN 5th march).

On go 2 and 3 they we're good quality and I was also In optimum condition to accept them. The clinic were cooing over their quality.

But they did not work. second we reached day 10 of 2ww which started off as spotting. Most recently we didn't make a full 7 days before spotting then AF arrived.

It seams I can't keep the pregnancy or maybe even create it - get it to stick. We are unexplained in relation to why we can conceive.

I am almost 35 and he is almost 40 and healthy and not overweight etc!!

What can we do? What should we ask for?!
Steroids? Embryo sceeening? Immune system??

I take daily combined vits which include folic acid which the clinic are happy with and they know I have underactive thyroid and take 125mg of levythoroxine.

We have 3 ok Frosties left and one funded go left!

X

MrsMidge0505 · 12/03/2018 12:27

Ladies it's all gone quiet.

How is everyone? What is the latest with anyone?

I'm back at the VW this week to see Suxie the counsellor lady - has anyone used her? I've never done this before so it feels odd.

We are then back to see Mr Brook next week for a review after our 3rd recent fail. We've been told they can't tweak a frozen cycle, they don't offer steroids or screening.

I will be googling but not sure what else to ask for - we obvs will pay extra!

Even if no advice a hi would be nice.

Wishing you all well x CakeFlowers

BeePositive · 12/03/2018 14:09

Hi's back at you MrsMidge0505 - everyone (myself included) has been very quiet indeed! Good to hear from you.

I've also had my review after failed 3rd cycle (due to a miscarriage, and not failed implantations like the first 2 cycles) - gosh, this isn't a doom-and-gloom feeling from both of us, is it, ha ha!

Seriously though, we're about to start our 4th cycle (FET) on 18th. I have my endo scratch this Friday, eeck!

I've also been tempted to speak with VW counsellor. I hope it goes well, let us know.

In terms of any 'extras' as you ask. I've just paid for thrombosis blood test (due to miscarriage) to see if I have any mutated genes there. And in our 3rd cycle, we paid extra for EmbryoGen, which isn't possible to 'add on' to an FET if you didn't have it in the fresh cycle. But we tried that last time, with an endo scratch also.

Wishing you all the very best as you review 3rd and make plans for your 4th cycle, MrsMidge0505. Mr Book is wonderful. And here's hoping the number 4 is lucky for us both!

Honestly, my mind is all over the place with starting 4th and final cycle. I'm adamant to remain totally positive, but with a dash of realism Halo

SP33 · 25/03/2018 12:14

Hi everyone! Sorry I’ve been so quiet recently. Not sure if everyone remembers but I got my BFP from my first ICSI cycle at VW. Everything went so well with the pregnancy until my 20 week scan on Thursday when we found out the baby has Spina Bifida. We made the difficult decision to terminate the pregnancy and now have to go through labour tomorrow. I realise not everyone will agree with my decision and totally respect that, I think you just have to do what’s right for you. It just seems to be bad luck (1 in 1000, I’m told) rather than anything chromosomal or anything I did or didn’t do, but they’ve taken some bloods and will let us know in a few weeks. I just wanted to let everyone know as I’ll hopefully be back here trying for my 2nd cycle soon. Good luck to everyone cycling at the moment, wishing you all the luck xxx

Kjackson02 · 25/03/2018 20:53

Hi, I have just done my first round of IVF at the Victoria wing, it failed and we have our review in April. Can anyone tell me what happens at the review? We have said we want to try again which they have said we can do from May so not too long to wait. All the staff are so friendly at the Victoria wing and so helpful x

Lizjulie1234 · 25/03/2018 21:35

@SP33 I am so so sorry to hear your news, absolutely devastating, I will be thinking of you tomorrow xx

BeePositive · 26/03/2018 10:58

@SP33 This is such sad news. My heart breaks for you and will be thinking of you today. Take care of yourself and keep us posted on how you are doing xxx

HWF4 · 26/03/2018 11:42

@SP33 I am so sorry to hear such devastating news. I am thinking of you today and I'm gutted you have to go through this after having gone through IVF/ infertility too. Sending you lots of love xxxx

Sorry for the radio silence from me, I hope everyone is well! I am now almost 19 weeks pregnant and feeling good. Wishing all you ladies lots of luck for your cycles, VW is a great place to be treated! xxx

BeePositive · 26/03/2018 12:23

@HWF4 - so pleased you are feeling good and nearly 19 weeks. You been getting on ok being pregnant in the recent very cold weather we've been having? All wrapped up I trust Smile

@Lizjulie1234 - how are you?

@geeup - are you still out there? How are things?

I'm coming to end of first week of Buserellin injections of this, my 4th (FET) cycle. My husband and I are dab-hands with the needles and vials now Wink

Waves to everyone xxx

Flamingo44 · 26/03/2018 12:29

@SP33 I’m so sorry to hear your news. I can’t even imagine how hard it must be after everything you’ve been through. Hopefully you’ll be just as lucky with a BFP on your next cycle.

@HWF4 congrats on making it to 19 weeks. Are you going to find out the sex at your scan?

@BeePositive good luck for this cycle. Everything is crossed for you!

Hi to the newbies too...sorry you find yourselves here but as HWF4 says VW is a lovely place to be treated.

As for me, my first cycle BFP arrived 10 days early on the 25th Feb...a little boy who we’ve called Ellis. I can’t believe 4 weeks have passed already but feel incredibly lucky that he’s here safe and sound.

Hope everyone else is doing ok. X

BeePositive · 26/03/2018 12:57

@Flamingo44 - Congratulations on the arrival of little Ellis! So happy for you Flowers Thanks for checking in and updating us all. I'm sure you're on other types of chats/threads picking up lots of good info around being a new Mommy. Wishing you all the very best xxx

Lizjulie1234 · 26/03/2018 14:24

@BeePositive wishing you so much luck with this next cycle, I do hope you get a positive result.

@HWF4 congratulations on being 19 weeks, I hope you are keeping well.

@Flamingo44 huge congratulations, what wonderful news, I hope you are loving being a mummy.

I am doing well, I am now one week post surgery for treatment of Ashermans syndrome, I am currently on hormones and have two coils fitted to try and improve my lining, I will be reviewed by the consultant again in two months, I’m hoping I am then given the ok to start ivf, hurry up June!

BeePositive · 26/03/2018 14:40

@Lizjulie - Thanks for the positive wishes!

Pleased you are doing well post treatment. Gosh, it's a long wait before you can start cycling again. But best to heal and get your lining perfect, and then have best chance of successful IVF. The waiting is so hard... Look after yourself and hope the hormones and coils do their thing x
