Hello. Looking for other ladies (or men!) who are IVF cycling with the Victoria Wing at Nuffield Woking either privately or NHS to share what happens, how it's going, any tips (what's the car parking like?!), to support one another and success stories of course. My stats:
Geeup
Aged 34
Ttc #1 for 22 cycles so far (4 with Clomid)
OH has low morphology MFI (but it's varied)
NHS cycle - first appt 31st Jan with Dr Riddle
One question to get us going, anyone know what the policy is about having 2 embryos put in on first cycle? Thanks!

I am trying to keep busy and positive but every time I remember what happened brings tears in my eyes :(

geeup · 06/04/2017 09:31

Oh kimmy. I can imagine you must feel so desperate and frustrated but if you can try and seek comfort in that now you know what caused it and hopefully knowing it's something you can prevent next time, I hope that gives you a glimmer of positivity.

Exciting you're nearly ready to go again moggle. Very best of luck for tomorrow and hope this cycle is your bfp! You're so lucky to have so many in the freezer! We only have the one so I'm praying this one inside me takes as otherwise I'll probably do another fresh cycle straight away to try and bank some.

Aw kimmy you've had such a tough ride for your first go. Sounds so very unusual. They unfortunately can't test for every possible issue and I guess if there were no risk factors then it's not something they would routinely look for.
This is really random but he doesn't have any friends or family with cystic fibrosis does he? Only that I know a bit about pseudomonas because I have a few cousins with CF and it's one of the bacteria they really have to watch out, and a lot of them have the infection.

Try to think positive - they have found out now - maybe it was why you weren't getting pregnant but if it is, now you know and can do something about it. From a quick look at the literature it looks like it can also cause a deterioration in sperm quality so that may also have had an effect on your efforts to get pregnant. It may be that once it's successfully treated you can have a few months trying naturally and will get pregnant. One of the (only!) benefits of feeling at rock bottom is that it's all onwards and upwards from there xxx

NorthSouth85 · 06/04/2017 13:57

Kimmy I'm sorry to hear that. I do agree with Moggle though, I suppose they cant routinely look for every possible factor that could cause failure.
The thing I have learnt over the past three years is that all fertility treatments are trial and error. They always learn from each treatment and look at how to improve/ modify the next time. Its just rubbish that we have to keep putting ourselves through it!

Take a list of questions with you, I always found it helped to write them down as I thought of them so I wouldn't forget to ask.

Kimmy82 · 06/04/2017 20:07

Geeup, Moggle and Northsouth thanks very much . I do see it more clearly now good to hear same things from all of you :).

Finding someone responsible won't help anyway and yes I'm happy at least with this we found out about this bacteria so my husband can e treated .

Hugs to all of you ! X

Geeup I am keeping fingers crossed for you let us know when u find out anything .

Moggle and Nortsouth you will start your cycles soon ???

NorthSouth85 · 06/04/2017 20:24

God I hope so! Still awaiting that all important appointment letter Confused hope it's not too much longer as they wrote to us two weeks ago now.

Glad your feeling a little better. It's an emotional rollercoaster! You let it all settle in and then pop all your energy into the next try. Xxx

Kimmy82 · 06/04/2017 20:44

Thanks a lot ! Hope you get that letter soon x

Kimmy82 · 06/04/2017 20:49

Moggle no, he doesn't know anyone in the family of friend with CF. 😬

geeup · 09/04/2017 07:05

I'm out. Had a tiny bit of pink when I wiped last night and woken up to dark red AF and my normal period cramps - today is only 6dp5dt. Not even the cyclogest can keep her away. I'm still 5 days away from even OTD. Feel numb.

OP posts:
Tee4me · 09/04/2017 08:34

Oh Geeup! Is it full flow? Have you completely ruled out implantation as this is so early? x

geeup · 09/04/2017 08:37

Well I did a test and got another BFN and have lots of cramping so think that's probably it. I'll keep taking the cyclogest as that's what the clinic will say but think it's pretty definitive.

OP posts:
Tee4me · 09/04/2017 08:46

So sorry you're going through this. 6dp would be way too early for a bfp wouldn't it? Sorry I'm new too ivf process but thinking generally when ttc. Got everything crossed that your embryo is still thriving and the bleed subsides. My twin sister had a full period when she was 4 weeks pregnant x

geeup · 09/04/2017 08:52

Oh really tee? That's interesting. Well I will wait and see. I don't think I ever really expected ivf to work first time - were just not that lucky. But you never know hey...

OP posts:
Tee4me · 09/04/2017 09:04

Yes, they weren't trying (unlike me!) so didn't realise she was pregnant until 10 weeks because of the 'period'. Lucky bugger.
Got everything crossed for you. Can you take a relaxing bath and just practice some mindfulness? Deep breaths, really hope things go your way, but if it's not meant to be this time, you have another in the freezer right? x

geeup · 09/04/2017 09:44

Yep got one in the freezer. Think we'll go straight to another fresh round though to bank some more embies before doing my fet incase that one doesn't thaw.

OP posts:
Kimmy82 · 09/04/2017 14:04

Geeup it's 100 percent the AF? Don't rule it out yet . Sorry if it is but you seem more positive than me which is amazing. I still have hopes for you for this one keep us updated x

geeup · 09/04/2017 14:08

Defo AF sadly. Had a cry and a moan with DH but can't cry forever. We just have to try again.

OP posts:
Kimmy82 · 09/04/2017 15:12

Sorry to hear Geeup at least u know u had decent number of eggs and they fertilised so maybe try to work around implantation for next time not sure what needs to be done to help that I'm sure you already know . Keep positive as you can see you're not alone in this ! X

Tee4me · 09/04/2017 21:17

Sorry Geeup, big hugs to you x

Flamingo44 · 10/04/2017 13:17

I'm so sorry Geeup. I read your news over the weekend and was trying to find the right thing to say, then I realised there isn't really a right thing.Flowers
Hoping you're feeling a little better today in terms of the cramps at least. Did you have an endometrial scratch? Apparently they're meant to help with implantation so might be worth asking for on your next go?

BeePositive · 10/04/2017 14:06

Sorry to hear your news Geeup. I'm on my second cycle with Nuffield Victoria Wing in Woking. First round from fresh cycle in Nov/Dec was BFN. I'm now midway through second round as FET and trying not to be obsessed, but remain positive for this cycle. But it's hard as we all know how difficult dealing with unsuccessful cycle can be. So sending lots of thoughts your way Flowers

geeup · 10/04/2017 17:15

Thanks ladies. I had a cry yesterday morning but am ok now to be honest. Just keen to press on. Spoke to VW today and they said to keep taking the cyclogest and do the test on OTD i.e. Friday although v unlikely to be a bfp. Then if we want to we can book in to do our next cycle starting from my next period so we plan to do that. If we do a second fresh, that'll mean next egg collection at end of May so feels bearable. I'm the type of person that copes better with a plan. So the journey continues!
Bee - how many Frosties do you have? We only have one so hoping to do another fresh to bank another frostie before doing a FET. Are you NHS?

Hi Geeup,
Just came across this thread as I'm also at VW. Really sorry to read your news. Have had 2 fresh and 2 frozen all bfn apart from a chemical. It's really tough, but like you I found having a plan really helped and cracking on with the next cycle made me feel more positive. I love the doctors and nurses at the clinic and I honestly feel they are 100% behind you. Keep your chin up and remember it's a marathon, not a sprint. X
