Hello. Looking for other ladies (or men!) who are IVF cycling with the Victoria Wing at Nuffield Woking either privately or NHS to share what happens, how it's going, any tips (what's the car parking like?!), to support one another and success stories of course. My stats:
Geeup
Aged 34
Ttc #1 for 22 cycles so far (4 with Clomid)
OH has low morphology MFI (but it's varied)
NHS cycle - first appt 31st Jan with Dr Riddle
One question to get us going, anyone know what the policy is about having 2 embryos put in on first cycle? Thanks!

Geeup thanks that's good to know!

How is your cycle going?

Kimmy82 · 18/03/2017 19:55

Northsouth I agree with Geeup, on the holiday point.

Geeup how was your baseline scan ? I'm going on Monday for my 1st progress scan. How much of Menopur did they give you ?

geeup · 19/03/2017 19:57

Hey scan went fine thanks. Lining thin and ovaries quiet so we're on track.
I'm on day 2 of menopur (2 vials so 300mg?) - what a massive faff!! So fiddly and never feel like I have sucked up all the liquids and powders. Buserlin feels like a walk in the park now. Counting down the days till it's just the pessaries to deal with. Had my first proper headache this morning but managed to get 3 litres of water down throughout the day so feeling better now. How's everyone else?

Glad to hear everything is on track Geeup, I'd forgotten about the sucking everything up and then putting it in next vial, changing needles etc. I was on 450 in the end. I drank loads during the treatment - it's really helpful to train your body as you need loads during pregnancy too.
Good luck with the progress scan Kimmy.8
I'm in being induced! Day 1 and nothing as of yet. Another propess pessary due 11am. Should hopefully kick it off.

MrsDarcy4092 · 20/03/2017 07:47

Good luck everyone and welcome :-)
my initial consultation is in April so I'm here for information purposes ATM.

Best of luck milk - please update us!!!

Geeup and kimmy I hope your cycles are going well.

Happy Monday everyone 😀

icy121 · 20/03/2017 07:50

teeforme if I were you I'd book a private consultation with one of the main VW consultants. You'll be able to get their secretaries details online. I saw Mr Curtis for over a year trying different stuff before we got to ivf. It didn't work but it MIGHT have!! IVF treats the symptom (infertility) but not the cause. I found it reassuring to be seeing & talking to someone who got it rather than that fucking cunt GP in Teddington who dismissed me 3 times plus if you DO end up cycling at VW, the waiting list is a few weeks/months so you can get on their radar so to speak.

Sorry about you MCs, that must be so hard Flowers

geeup · 20/03/2017 08:28

Good luck drinkyourmilk!!!!

Kimmy82 · 20/03/2017 12:27

Hi Everyone.

Darcy, Happy Monday to you, too!

Drinkyourmilk it's so funny every time i go to the clinic and i see someone pregnant, I am thinking that might be you?? Lol :))))But I am sure you weren't there this morning.

Geeup, I agree with you that Busserelin felt like walk in the park, with Menopur is so much hassle!

I had my first progress scan today, it went well, they said we are right on track, I had lots of follicles both sides; they keep the same dose of Menopur until my next scan on Wednesday so I feel really hopeful.

Kimmy82 · 20/03/2017 12:30

Also Geeup, I feel like don't suck up all the liquid and powder either, I let my husband do it, he's much better than me, he manages to suck up every drop. :)

MrsDarcy4092 · 20/03/2017 12:38

Great news kimmy!!
Do you have egg collection date pencilled in?
Has anyone ever been to the fertility support group they organise at VW?

Kimmy82 · 20/03/2017 13:07

Hey darcy, yes, it;s next Monday!
No, I haven't used their counselling sessions don't have time for that too, it's hard to get away from work even for these scans.

MrsDarcy4092 · 20/03/2017 13:26

Good luck kimmy, I can totally understand what you mean about fitting appointments in. The counselling looks really good but ifs more appointments to keep.

I meant the support group though it's called the wish group. Again not sure how easy it would be to fit in but wondered if anyone had been and what it's like?

geeup · 21/03/2017 07:07

I haven't used the counselling which is surprising as I absolutely thought I would. I've just been feeling soooo much better about everything since I started the cycle. I wish I'd had access to counselling around the 8-14month of trying mark. That's when I was a proper mess when I realised it was going to be hard for us and we had our first tests. These services should be far more freely available to people TTC in my opinion.

OP posts:
drinkyourmilk · 21/03/2017 07:44

I used the counselling service once- just as we started treatment. I was feeling very overwhelmed with all it entailed and implications of it not working AND it working (cause I'm complicated Grin) and wanted to talk to someone other than my husband. The lady I saw was nice, but I didn't gel with her so didn't return. They were very accommodating with appointment times, and managed to arrange it for just before one of our appointments.
kimmy your scan sounds very promising. Can't believe that EC has come around so quickly! I'm so excited for you! After my et I rested for 2 whole days at home. Barely left the couch, and then I did no lifting, no vigorous moving around - nothing. I don't know if it made any difference, but at least I felt like I was giving my little emby the best chance to implant.
Geeup I completely agree with how little support there is for those ttc. Our gps attitude was- well you'll have to have ivf. Like it's an easy decision and process. We were broken, completely and utterly. At that time I didn't just need to shout and scream about how fucking unfair it was- I also wanted to know what our options were etc. This should all be far easier to access.
I'm still being induced. This baby is exceptionally happy where they are!

NorthSouth85 · 21/03/2017 16:09

Geeup / Kimmy glad to see everything is going well! Like everyone else said, just keep up with drinking your water and staying hydrated.

Thanks for the tips on the holiday dates. I would like to get something in the diary before we start ideally, relax before we begin again...

I'm still waiting for my appointment, however NHS contacted me and want me to go in for Hycosy next week - so there's always something to look forward to!!

I had one at the beginning of the NHS fertility tests so know what to expect at least.

They are now saying I have a suspected polyp, which came up at the Lister on my first round of IVF and turned out my period wasn't completely done as the buserlin makes it last a bit longer. So I'm hoping when they scan me first, whatever they suspect isn't there and I don't have to have it done!

geeup · 21/03/2017 17:26

Ah that's really interesting north. I'm currently CD10 and still spotting. Is it common for the buserlin to drag the period out a bit longer? Was worried it might mean my lining ends up being thin...

OP posts:
Kimmy82 · 22/03/2017 19:05

Hi Everyone I had my second progress scan this morning so the follicles grew from 13 mm to 20 in just 2 days :) the lining is now 10 mm it was 8.9 on Monday, I'm really happy so it looks like all goes by the book EC on Monday.

Geeup when is your first progress scan ?

How's everyone ?

NorthSouth85 · 22/03/2017 20:19

Geeup yes it's normal for it to last a little longer I think mine was 8/9 days in total. But everyone reacts differently.

Kimmy that's fab news! Really good progress! X

geeup · 22/03/2017 20:25

Wow Kimmy that's amazing growth! I have first scan on Friday. What have you been doing to help the growth - anything in particular? I'm eating my protein and drinking the water. Open to tips!!

OP posts:
geeup · 22/03/2017 20:28

Sorry crosspost. Good to know north. Thanks for the advice.

OP posts:
Kimmy82 · 22/03/2017 20:39

Thanks NorthSouth, hope you they are wrong with the polyp fingers crossed.

Geeup tbh I try to eat healthy but end up eating the same I love carbs pizza cheese potatoes. I did try to eat more meat, eggs and fish this time but still sneaking the carbs in. I am trying to do good job with water. Haven't done anything else and Menopur is the same I'm on 150.

Can't wait to hear about your scan on Friday I will have my third progress scan on Friday this too. Good luck 🍀

Kimmy82 · 22/03/2017 20:42

How are things Drink your milk and Darcy ?

MrsDarcy4092 · 23/03/2017 20:23

Wow kimmy that all sounds so positive!! Good luck with your scan tomorrow and geeup with yours too!!

North south good luck I hope you dont have a polyp bug actually I had one and it was sorted very quickly and easily but it's just a pain having to organise it all when uou just want to crack on.

I'm ok thanks, waiting fo 12th April initial consultation. I really want to lose another half a stone but have totally lose focus which is annoying me. I've lost 4 1/2 stone so far so have done really well and now just need this final push but my brain is having none of it!

geeup · 23/03/2017 21:02

Drink will have had her baby by now!!! How exciting!!

OP posts:
geeup · 24/03/2017 15:12

Had my first response scan - only 4 follows one side and 1 on other which isn't great. They've whacked up my stims to try and get a few more going but feeling very Sad
