Hello. Looking for other ladies (or men!) who are IVF cycling with the Victoria Wing at Nuffield Woking either privately or NHS to share what happens, how it's going, any tips (what's the car parking like?!), to support one another and success stories of course. My stats:
Geeup
Aged 34
Ttc #1 for 22 cycles so far (4 with Clomid)
OH has low morphology MFI (but it's varied)
NHS cycle - first appt 31st Jan with Dr Riddle
One question to get us going, anyone know what the policy is about having 2 embryos put in on first cycle? Thanks!

Good luck @geeup will be thinking of you! Sounds like you’re in a great positive mindset which can only help! Everything is crossed for you and your ‘babies’! Let us know how you get on.

HWF4 · 05/01/2018 08:30

Good luck for today @geeup. Sending you lots of good thoughts and positive vibes! Let us know how you get on x

SP33 · 05/01/2018 08:43

@geeup all the luck for today, as the others have said. Will be thinking of you and sending positive vibes.

geeup · 05/01/2018 14:34

Thanks all for your kind thoughts. I've had the two blasts put on board this morning so I'm PUPO again. Had Acupuncture before and after but then went to waitrose to do a food shop so probably undid all the hard work haha. What will be will be. Have a chilled weekend planned of funny films and magazines. Hope you all have nice things planned.

Hi ladies!
Hope you don't mind me interjecting! @geeup sounds likes your in the thick of an exciting time! Good luck!
I've just sent off an enquiry form to the Victoria Wing requesting an appointment for an initial consultation for privately funded IVF.
I have DS who is 5, we have been TTC since December 2015. I had x2 MCs in 2016, and nothing since. I have been diagnosed with high NK activity and am on steroid protocol through another private consultant. I'm just wondering if any of you ladies know if this fertility unit supports women on such a plan? Was NK activity something you or any of the Specialists at Woking discussed?? I'm nervous about shelling out for the Consultation only for them to say they won't assist me while I'm on steroids 🤔

geeup · 06/01/2018 21:34

Hi @Tee4me they are quite conservative and told me they didn't support any immune treatment at all but I'm nhs. I'm not sure if it's different when you're private though. Hopefully someone else can chip in too. Good luck to you!

Tee4me · 06/01/2018 21:47

Thanks for the quick response @geeup! When you say you don't think they support immune stuff, do you just mean they don't issue the drugs themselves, or do you think they won't even treat anyone on that plan outside of their care?

geeup · 07/01/2018 08:22

Hard to say. The nurses are amazing. If you call up and leave a message with a nurse to ask the consultants I'm sure they could let you know so you don't waste an appointment.

Hi Tee4me! Also just in case you don’t know already, even if your private they still need a gp referral before they will make you an initial apt. I didn’t realise this and it delayed our apt waiting for this to happen, so you may want to ask your gp to do it ASAP xx

Tee4me · 07/01/2018 10:21

Ah thanks ladies! @Lizjulie1234 appreciate the heads up on that! How unusual to need a referral for private, I'll book a GP app ASAP! We're having a break from TTC this month as I'm having a Hysteroscopy and Hycosy. I'm already wondering how quickly we could get underway with IVF though. Are there waiting lists with this unit for private patients do any of you know? Sorry for all the brain picking, but it's been so nice to have a renewed sense of hope since I've settled in my mind on going for it! x

SP33 · 07/01/2018 10:39

Welcome @Tee4me! For what it’s worth, I’ve heard ARGC in London is the best clinic for any immune related concerns/treatment. It’s more expensive than others and apparently the treatment is intense (appointments every day), but has good success rates. I’d agree with geeup, am sure the nurses at the Victoria Wing will advise you without you having to waste an appointment. I was referred via NHS and waited 6 months for a consultation and started 2 months afterwards. Am sure private will be quicker xx

Lizjulie1234 · 07/01/2018 11:49

Hi Tee4me, I think from the point they received our GP referral there was a wait of about 6 weeks. I too am awaiting a hysteroscopy before starting...hoping to have it done at Frimley by Mr Riddle (ivf dr) so he can then coordinate everything, which hospital are you under?

Tee4me · 07/01/2018 19:47

Thanks @SP33! I already have a Consultant who is treating me for the immune stuff, so I have in mind that I would continue that side of treatment with him and hope that Woking (or if not, another unit) would conduct the IVF. My Consultant does have contacts for IVF but it would be expensive and all based up London I think. I'm keen to find somewhere I can drive to fairly locally.
@Lizjulie1234 my private immune Consultant is Epsom, and my NHS Fertility Specialist is St Peters, Chertsey. She is the one that has arranged the Hysteroscopy & Hycosy. Perhaps I should ask her about private IVF actually.

geeup · 09/01/2018 09:30

Hello all. Hope you're doing ok today. I'm now 4dp5dt of my 2 non-hatching frozen embies. Did a test this morning (definitely against all VW's medical advice!) and while I would absolutely put it firmly in the BFN space, I'm hopeful there's a glimmer of hope from the faintest of shadows. Could be a shadow or an evap - internet cheapie - but I'm saving my first £10 piss stick for when there's more of a chance there's something to see later in the week. So for now cross your fingers for me please!

Oh wow @geeup, I can see a shadow too!! Eeeekkkk! Hopefully this is it for you. How long have you been TTC?

Well I took your advice rang the nurse team at Victoria Wing and spoke to the loveliest lady!! As suspected, they would not support someone on a treatment plan for immune issues elsewhere, but I had such a nice chat with this particular nurse and she made me feel a lot better.
I checked out ARGC and they actually look like they have a branch service in Oxford, so it might be that I can go with them after all! Will call today to confirm but will wait for Hysteroscopy result before booking a Consultation (they take a £50 deposit at enquiry stage!).

Flamingo44 · 09/01/2018 10:03

Congrats on being PUPO @geeup glad the transfer went well and you got your 2 put back on board! I can definitely see the faint line you’re referring too and it’s still really early days. I’ve got all fingers and toes crossed for you! Let us know when you next test.

geeup · 09/01/2018 10:12

Thanks @Tee4me and glad to hear the nurses were lovely and helpful - they are great. I've been trying for 2.5 years (just over) and this is my third cycle (first FET) so hoping this is the one and I'm third time lucky!
And thanks for the luck @Flamingo44 - will keep you posted!

OP posts:
BeePositive · 09/01/2018 10:28

Welcome @Tee4me. Yes, aren't the team at Victoria Wing lovely, and very helpful. I'm glad you had a chat with one of the nurses and you now have a new plan of what will work best for you. I've also heard ARGC are great on the immune front. Wishing you all the best and good luck with the hysteroscopy too.

@Geeup, have everything crossed for you and looking good so far. A very early test indeed, but great to have that glimmer of hope in the looooooong window of the 2WW. Don't blame ya!

Lizjulie1234 · 09/01/2018 15:07

How exciting @Geeup, when can you officially test? I have everything crossed for you, that 2 week wait must be torture!

@Tee4me that’s great you got some answers, saves wasting any time for you. I hope your surgery goes well.

I finally have an appointment with with Mr Riddle at Frimley, it’s the 1st Feb so not to long to wait! I’m so hoping I get an op date soon after that, I’m so rubbish at waiting!

SP33 · 09/01/2018 19:20

@geeup there’s definitely a faint line there! Keeping everything crossed for you and your frosties. Keep us updated on your progress. Keeping everything crossed for you!

@Tee4Me glad you got the answer you were looking for and hope all goes well with your treatment. Keep us updated!

@LizJulie1234 1st Feb isn’t far away at all and am sure things will move quickly after that. Just getting appointments in the diary can make you feel like you’re moving forward so am hoping the time flies for you
