Hello. Looking for other ladies (or men!) who are IVF cycling with the Victoria Wing at Nuffield Woking either privately or NHS to share what happens, how it's going, any tips (what's the car parking like?!), to support one another and success stories of course. My stats:
Geeup
Aged 34
Ttc #1 for 22 cycles so far (4 with Clomid)
OH has low morphology MFI (but it's varied)
NHS cycle - first appt 31st Jan with Dr Riddle
One question to get us going, anyone know what the policy is about having 2 embryos put in on first cycle? Thanks!

@BeePositive I’m glad you’re being well looked after. Just to update you ladies, there’s going to be a delay in me staring as after seeing Mr Riddle he advised that I need surgery on my Uterus being starting 😔 he wants to do the surgery at Frimley Park....I have something called Ashermans which is rare and sadly was caused by the surgery I had to remove my previous missed miscarriage. Do any of you know much about Mr Riddle? He came across very knowledgable and confident but I’m still anxious, this surgery needs to be done right to give me any chance of carrying a baby. Thank you ladies xxx

Lizjulie1234 · 16/12/2017 09:16

Before starting not being!!!!

BeePositive · 18/12/2017 15:59

Thanks @Lizjulie1234, I'm trying to find balance right now of keeping busy and distracted, but also not completely ignore and make light of what I've just been through. My husband has taken it really badly too. So the two of us are just trying to support each other and figure out next steps. I've still not had a bleed, so kinda feel in limbo waiting for that.

How long did you have before you had your previous missed miscarriage removed? What happened that you now have Ashermans? If it helps at all, I've always found Mr Riddle very professional and knowledgeable. And what I've seen from other ladies on here, their experiences with him have all been positive. Have you got a date in with Frimley Park yet? Wishing you all the best.

BeePositive · 18/12/2017 16:00

Thinking of you @HWF4. Keep us posted. Some good news right now would be lovely! xxx

BeePositive · 18/12/2017 16:02

Thanks for reaching out too @Flamingo44. Yes, hopefully I will find some strength to try again next year. All the best to you x

Lizjulie1234 · 18/12/2017 16:42

@BeePositive I’m pleased your keeping busy, please remember it’s ok to not be ok. Your poor husband, I think we forget about them sometimes, I know I did and I didn’t realise how much he was hurting too. Thank you for the advice about Mr Riddle, I had a missed miscarriage so didn’t find out until my 12 week scan, I was then booked in for an ercp two days later, I thought it had gone ok then I became unwell and they found I still had remaining products of conception, I then had a hysteroscopy to remove those products...then became unwell again and then needed a 3rd op. What happened to me is very rare and unlucky, I’m now waiting for an apt with mr riddle to fix my uterus before the ivf! One long nightmare...stated two years ago!
Please make sure you look after yourself, when do u have to go bank? I hope you manage to enjoy Christmas and start making new plans for the new year xx

HWF4 · 19/12/2017 09:40

Hi all, sorry for the delayed reply- I have been feeling really rubbish with the OHSS- a scan yesterday showed that it is slowly getting better so I’m hoping to be feeling a bit more normal for Christmas.
I’m happy to say that I did get a positive result on Friday. I think it’s only just starting to sink in. We are very happy to have had our first ever positive test however are also being cautiously optimistic as I know so much can still go wrong in the next 8 weeks.

@BeePositive how are you doing? I’ve been thinking of you lots the past couple of days.

@LizJulie1234 Mr Riddle is also my consultant and although I’ve only seen him once I found him very knowledgeable. I’m sorry you have a slight delay to your treatment but I wish you well and hopefully this procedure will make your uterus nice and healthy again.

How is everyone else?

BeePositive · 19/12/2017 09:54

Oh @Lizjulie1234 that is very unfortunate, I'm sorry to hear you've had such complications post a missed miscarriage, that you're still needing to resolve. But I'm sure you are in good hands and get yourself healthy and fighting fit for your upcoming IVF. Keep us posted on when you get appointment all booked in with lovely Mr Riddle.

Congratulations @HFW4 such wonderful news on your positive after your struggling with the OHSS. Great you are starting to feel better and now time to focus on being fully well and happy with your great news.

I have a scan booked in tomorrow with Nuffield. Not sure there is much they can do except see why I've not started bleeding yet, and likely refer me to my local Early Pregnancy Unit to book in for procedure to remove everything. I keep feeling twinges like it's going to start on it's own, but probably best to get it done professionally to ensure all is removed properly. Something I didn't realise was a potential complexity, but you learn something new from this whole process continuously.

SP33 · 19/12/2017 14:56

@lizjulie 1234 am sorry to hear you’re suffering and things have been delayed. I know a bit about ashermans as had a suspected case of it myself but turned out not to be that. I imagine it’s really frustrating to have your IVF delayed but at the same time perhaps this was the reason things weren’t working out and by having surgery you may have a much better outcome in the long run.

@HWF4 huge congrats on your result and hope you start to feel better soon. Hope you get plenty of rest of the coming weeks.

@beepositive sorry to hear things haven’t happened naturally yet. For what it’s worth I had a missed miscarriage in 2015 and didn’t bleed either. I tried tablets and they didn’t work so eventually went in for the D&C. It’s a much quicker process but equally comes with other considerations as you know. I hope you’re doing ok otherwise, I know this must be a tough time for you and your husband and my thoughts are always with you.

I’ve been doing ok - lots of nausea and extreme hunger. I also have a really dodgy tummy so am all in all a bit of a mess! Hoping it settles down soon. I’ve booked another scan for 9 weeks as I just don’t think you can tell how things are progressing and don’t want to find out they’re not at 12 weeks when I could have checked in sooner.

Hope eveyone else ok xx

BeePositive · 22/12/2017 10:06

Thanks @SP33 I didn't realise that the body wouldn't naturally expel things quickly once the pregnancy was no longer viable. But learning something new each phase and sorry to hear so many other ladies have already had to deal with this, including the delays, operations and complications.

I'm hoping the nausea has settled for you? Are you able to eat at least if you are so hungry. Hopefully your tummy has decided to play nice and you can enjoy the run up to and Christmas lunch too. Great you have earlier upcoming scans booked in so you can get that reassurance along the way.

@Lizjulie1234 do you have a date booked in for procedure with Mr Riddle? I'm sure you just want to have a plan and dates to focus on.

Hope you're doing well @HWF4 and the symptoms have eased and you're able to enjoy the positive pregnancy feelings!

Happy holidays @Flamingo44, thinking of you and hoping you continue to have a smooth and positive pregnancy. Keep checking in with us.

@Geeup - the starter of this thread! Hope you are enjoying being in the process again now and injections are going well, and you can still enjoy the Christmas festivities too.

Still no joy for anything working its way out naturally. I had appointment yesterday with early pregnancy unit to understand options my local hospital offers and am booked in for surgery next Friday 27th, in the hope that it will happen itself before then. But I know if it hasn't, the surgical process would be best. I'm now on big deadline (1 March) to get started with next IVF cycle in order to be covered by NHS funding. It will be my last chance.

On a happier note, I wanted to wish each of you wonderful ladies, and all your special other halves and family who you will be enjoying the festive season with. You've each been a massive support to me on this crazy journey, and I thank you for your compassion, knowledge sharing, understanding and opening up with your personal stories. We've been through sad times and supported each other, we've had some happy news, and encouraged each other. I wish you all a Happy Christmas and may 2018 be magical for all our dreams to come true. Look forward to chatting with you more. Best wishes! xxx

Flamingo44 · 22/12/2017 10:36

Hi all, just wanted to pop on and wish you all the best for the festive period.

Congratulations on your positive @HWF4 amazing news and I hope your OHSS symptoms are now passing...although likely about to be replaced with morning sickness...but it’s ok to feel rubbish for such a happy reason!

I can understand your need for reassurance @SP33 so think an additional scan is an excellent idea! I actually had one at 9 weeks (but because I had some bleeding)...and once I’d learnt it was all ok it was nice to have had that reassurance again before the 12 week one.

@Lizjulie1234 Sorry to hear about your further complications and what will entail more waiting. Hopefully it’ll all be worth it in the end. I hope you have your appointment through so you’ve at least got a deadline to focus on.

@geeup Hope everything is going ok. I really hope that this is your successful cycle so will look forward to your updates in the new year.

@BeePositive I’m really happy to hear you’re going to try again. I can only imagine how hard it is to have had to deal with what you’ve been through, but next time hopefully it’ll all have a much happier outcome.

I think your words capture everything perfectly @BeePositive I was so grateful of this little group when I was building up to and going through my treatment and it’s always nice to pop back on and check in with everyone. I’m really hoping that 2018 brings everyone a healthy baby or a healthy progressing pregnancy. Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and New Year... please eat, drink (if you can) and be merry! Xx

geeup · 22/12/2017 14:05

So lovely to hear all your Christmas wishes. I feel the same about you guys and I'm so happy I started this thread!
I just upped my oestrogen tablets to three a day so the lining should hopefully get cracking. Scan between xmas and new year. Can't wait and just hope everything is the thickness it's supposed to be!

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a lovely and restful Christmas with family and friends. My email notifications weren’t working so thought I’d check in anyway and saw all of your lovely Christmas wishes!

@beepositive, how are things going with you? Did things work out naturally in the end or did you go for surgery? Either way I hope things feel like they’re moving forward for you and you’re on the road to a speedy recovery.

@HWF4, did you have your scan? Hope all went well

@geeup, hope the oestrogen tablets and working their magic! Do you have regular scans to check progress?

@LizJulie1234, hope you had a good Christmas and you’ve got a date booked for your surgery so can start looking forward to your treatment.

@flamingo44, not long for you to go now!! When’s your due date? Can’t wait to hear your good news!

All ok at my end. I have a UTI which isn’t ideal so have been put on antibiotics (apparently safe in pregnancy but I hate taking them). There’s no alternative as an untreated UTI can apparently harm the embryo so I’m just drinking lots of water and hoping for the best. Waiting for date of 12 week scan to come through the post in the mean time and then hopefully I’ll be able to relax. I went for a 9week scan yesterday and all looks well but then I found out about this bloody UTI!

Hope all is well with everyone and you have a happy new year! Xx

BeePositive · 30/12/2017 12:48

Sorry to hear about your UTI @SP33. I believe they are common in pregnancy & no issue when treated. Did they prescribe Cefalexin antibiotics? One of the pregnancy safe kind. So pleased your 9 week scan was good and you are doing well otherwise looking forward to the 12 week appointment. Have you had midwife apt too? Are you keeping your special news secret until 12 weeks? Would have been hard not saying anything over Christmas. Seeing friends & family I’m sure Smile

I’m well. Nothing happened naturally, so I had the procedure at hospital under general anaesthetic yesterday. Quite a bit of blood but the pain is manageable & I’m just taking it easy now. Lucky timing with me being off work this week and only back on Tuesday.

Look forward to hearing everyone else’s updates.

Feel better soon @SP33.

geeup · 30/12/2017 16:25

So sorry you've had to go through that @BeePositive but glad it's moved on. Hope you recover ok and the time off helps.
@SP33 I am ok thanks. Had a scan and lining was 13mm so they're happy for me to stick to 3 tablets a day ready for my FET next week. So excited but also nervous. You prepare for sooooo long to get to this point. I just desperately hope it works this time but we all wish that and it doesn't always happen sadly. Still you can only try right?

OP posts:
SP33 · 30/12/2017 17:25

@geeup that all sounds really positive. You're right, all we can do is try and think positively. Are you doing any accupuncture/visualisation work? I found it helpful to distract my mind and relax. Nadia Semples is the acupuncturist recommended by the clinic - I have been through a number of acupuncturists and thought she was the best I’ve seen. Have everything crossed for you for this round.

@beepositive am glad you’ve had the surgery and can start to recover. I remember when I had my d and c there was a lot of blood but it does eventually calm down. I actually ovulated only 1 week later than I thought I would and cycles were back to normal very quickly, so am keeping everything crossed it will be the same for you. I do remember some bloating which hung around for a couple of months on and off, but then subsided. I think it’s because the progesterone took a while to settle back down.

I have told close family and some friends as they knew I was doing IVF and it was impossible not to say anything. Am waiting until 12 weeks to tell most people though, as would rather be sure. I personally am still pretty anxious and haven’t let myself believe it, so for that reason am also not very good at talking about it to other people about it. Had my midwife appointment - she was lovely and it was through that I found out about the UTI, I had no other symptoms.

Hope everyone else is going well XX

Lizjulie1234 · 30/12/2017 18:05

Hi Ladies,

Merry Christmas! Hope you’ve all managed to relax and enjoy some time off work? @BeePositive, I’m sorry to hear you had to go down the surgery route, I hope your resting and getting well looked after, I had a lot of bleeding but started to feel much better after a couple of days, make sure you don’t rush back to work, I only had a few days off and it just wasn’t enough. @SP33, what a hard time of year to keep such an exciting secret, well done you. I hope your UTI clears up really quickly as that must be really uncomfortable.
@geeup, your so close now, I feel excited for you! Keeping everything crossed for a positive outcome.
I am in much the same position, just awaiting an apt date from either UCLH or Frimley, this waiting game is so hard, I’m hoping to get a date within the next couple of weeks, if it is a long wait I may consider the private option, it’s just hard as ideally we need to save the money for ivf but we just can’t move forward until my uterus is fixed to improve my lining.

I hope you’ve all been very spoilt and have some lovely plans for New Year’s Eve, here’s to a pregnancy filled 2018!xxx

geeup · 30/12/2017 18:05

Great news @SP33 I hope your scan comes round soon so you can feel a bit more positive.
I have been having Acupuncture locally once a week and will use Nadia again for sessions before and after transfer on the day. I'm spending money hand over fist but hopefully it's doing something.

HWF4 · 03/01/2018 10:23

Hi everyone! I hope you are all well and had a great Christmas and New Year?

@BeePositive I hope you are recovering well and aren't in too much discomfort. I hope you're doing well and your return to work was easy.

@geeup where are you in the process now? Wishing you lots of luck

@LizJulie1234 I hope you are well Have you had an appointment come through yet?

With me, I had my viability scan yesterday and all looks good. It was quite emotional seeing the little flicker on the screen. We have to go back for another scan in 2 weeks as although the fluid from the OHSS has all gone, I now have a big cyst on my left ovary which they want to monitor so we get to see it all again and don't have to pay for a private scan which is good.

I am back to work, first day back yesterday after a month off and trying to combat the nausea I've been having by eating through it - toast and carbs are the only things I seem to be craving at the moment!

I hope you are all well x

BeePositive · 03/01/2018 11:33

Oh it's such a special thing to see that tiny flicker @HWF4 and I'm so pleased to hear the OHSS has subsided finally. Always something though, isn't there, with this cyst appearing, but sounds like they are happy to monitor it, and as you say, and extra scan to have scheduled to look forward to. Can you take anything for the cyst, or do they think it will just settle over time?

@SP33 - hoping the UTI is under control and you are doing ok?

@geeup - yes, as HWF4 asks, whats your next milestone? Thinking of you x

@LizJulie1234 - do keep us posted on your appointment date?

And not forgetting @Flamingo44 to share your due date? This groups first baby of 2018! We need good news x

I'm doing better after a gentle start to the situation after the procedure, I took a bit of a turn two days ago with very bad pains and a lot of bleeding after it had started decreasing over a couple of days. So I decided to work from home yesterday and take it easy, and I'm back into the office today as I feel much better. Hopefully this is nearly past now and my husband and I can figure out if we can face another cycle. My consultant appointment is booked for the end of January. Hopefully some time for my body to get back to normal (as much as possible!).

Happy New Year to everyone! xxx

Flamingo44 · 03/01/2018 13:42

Happy New Year all! I’m really hoping this is going to be the year of healthy pregnancies and babies all round!

@HWF4 congrats on the scan...sorry to hear about the cyst but hopefully it won’t cause you any trouble and the extra scan will be lovely.

@geeup as the others have said let us know your milestone dates...everything is crossed for you!

@BeePositive sorry to hear that you’ve suffered with pain and bleeding, it’s really not fair after all you’ve been through. I hope they have some positive thoughts in your January appointment and you can make the right next step for you.

My due date is 7th March so 9 weeks today...although I’m sure the day will come and go as not many first babies are in time! As long as it arrives healthy I’ll just take it whenever it’s ready though. Mainly on a countdown to maternity leave now...and trying to finally get organised and buy the essentials whilst finishing our house renovations!

BeePositive · 03/01/2018 13:50

I cannot believe it @Flamingo44, only another 9 weeks left. Although, as you say, first babies can be shy and keep Mommy & Daddy waiting till they are ready to make an appearance. Very exciting!! And gosh, I can't believe you're still completing the renovations. Ours were (started in June) and completed before Christmas thankfully. Some things have gone to plan at least Hmm. Good luck with getting lots done in next couple of months and enjoying all the fun (plus essential) purchases too! Best wishes x

geeup · 03/01/2018 16:39

Wow @Flamingo44 I can't believe you only have three months to go!!!
On Friday I am having my FET so I'll be PUPO from then (if they thaw ok). Can't wait. Am off work next week so I can take it easy. Just hope it all goes to plan...!

OP posts:
BeePositive · 04/01/2018 16:46

@Geeup wishing you all the best for your FET tomorrow. Hope the transfer goes smoothly & you can relax over the weekend & week ahead. Take care x

geeup · 04/01/2018 17:10

Thanks. Am really excited! Just had my (hopefully!) last bath for a while and did a castor oil pack to get my uterus nicely warmed up. Can't wait for tomorrow now to meet my "babies" haha
