Hello. Looking for other ladies (or men!) who are IVF cycling with the Victoria Wing at Nuffield Woking either privately or NHS to share what happens, how it's going, any tips (what's the car parking like?!), to support one another and success stories of course. My stats:
Geeup
Aged 34
Ttc #1 for 22 cycles so far (4 with Clomid)
OH has low morphology MFI (but it's varied)
NHS cycle - first appt 31st Jan with Dr Riddle
One question to get us going, anyone know what the policy is about having 2 embryos put in on first cycle? Thanks!

Well kimmy. Haven't met your consultant yet but sure they're all great. I'm not too far behind you - baseline next Friday.
Did you get your breakthrough bleed around your usual AF? I started downregging on CD19 and AF would have been due yesterday. Really hope she comes soon as don't want to delay my stimming and egg collection which falls well around Easter etc!! Would appreciate any advice about when I can expect AF!

Hi Geeup, yes we are just days apart, great we can share similar events. My breakthrough bleed came as my usual AF, it was 1 day late, tbh doesn't feel anything different than the normal period. The nurse told me that it will finish before by baseline scan and she was right. I felt exactly the same way as you was thinking if AF delays much than it may delay everything...but don't worry should arrive and few days late is still okay. Let me know when " arrived" :) , I will also write on Monday afternoon after my scan very curious to hear what they will say !

MrsDarcy4092 · 11/03/2017 21:30

I'm also really interested in your journeys as I hope it be us soon.

How long have you been down regging for? And how soon after initial consultation did u get an implications appointment?

Thanks and good luck!

Kimmy82 · 11/03/2017 21:44

Darcy it's already"us" :) my initial consultation was on the 9th Feb and my implications one on the 23rd Feb. At my initial consultation I was on day 5 of my period so I insisted they book me in for the same month so I can start my injections on the day 21. Initially the nurse said to wait until my next period but as I was on day 5 I insisted so she checked the appointments and she found a free one for the 23rd Feb for the implications so I could start my injections on the 25th Feb. I am injecting myself with busserelin for 2 weeks now and my first scan is on Monday. They gave me a calendar marked with all the appointments and based on that the embryo transfer should happen on the 1st April if all goes well. Geeup, when is your embryo transfer scheduled for ? Darcy, yours will also start soon you'll see try to keep busy until then I know it's easy to say this is all I can think of !

MrsDarcy4092 · 11/03/2017 22:24

Thank you so know much for sharing it's so helpful.
I will be around day 10 at our appointment so hoping I can start 17th may which is my day one .
For past 2 weeks have you had any monitoring or just taking the injections and then first scan Monday?
Hope you don't mind all my questions!

Kimmy82 · 12/03/2017 08:42

No monitoring yet, Monday will be my first one. I did call them once as I have a rash from the injections but it's only local where I have inserted the needle they said it's normal. It's really itchy though:( no don't mind any questions at all!

Kimmy82 · 12/03/2017 09:06

Btw started my first injection on day 21!

MrsDarcy4092 · 12/03/2017 10:35

Oh so if it's long protocol do you start day 21? That's even better as only 11 days after our initial appointment... if they have the appointments for us to be able to start then which I'm starting to doubt after our first experience.

do you think they will share the results of dh sa with us seeing as they cancelled our appointment and next space they have is 6 weeks away? Do you think it's worth asking? Would just put part of my mind to rest if I no if it's changed .

Thank you! How are you feeling about Mondays scan?

Kimmy82 · 12/03/2017 11:29

Darcy it's definitely worth asking, you could call them to explain how all has been delayed for you so maybe they can book your implications now?? Rather then after your initial as you're right, there may not be any free space so you would have to wait for your next cycle. Make sure though that you have all results done for your initial so they can book you for implications ASAP. Smear, blood tests, etc. I'm sure they will share the results of dh they are really nice. Good luck with this, try to speed them up, even if it won't be successful at least you know you have tried. I'm anxious about tomorrow, will write to tell how it went. Have a lovely day!

geeup · 12/03/2017 16:29

Darcy I agree with kimmy - maybe worth calling up to try and book your implications appointment as it's pretty unlikely you'll fit in both before your day 21 - I had to miss a month because I had a couple of weeks between appointment. At your implications appt they'll do your HIV and chlamydia again but worth asking if there's any other tests you can get on with that they are missing before your next appointment.
Kimmy - my breakthrough bleed arrived today (2 days late for AF) so am on track for my baseline scan on Friday. Hoping so much that all is quiet in the ovaries and no cysts so I can start the menopur on Saturday. Did you call and tell the clinic when you started bleeding?

drinkyourmilk · 12/03/2017 21:05

Darcy how frustrating about your appointment Sad.
I agree that you should try to set up your implications meeting too.
Is it worth asking which tests you will need done and then asking your gp to arrange them? We did all our tests bar SA and bloods done via the GP. We went private if it makes any difference.
kimmy I had a rash and bruises at my injection sites. I ended up using antihistamine tablets and iced the area before injecting. Not long now! BTW I was 39 and we got lucky first time round.
Geeup hoping your baseline scan goes well. You are almost there. Exciting! Have they given you an EC date yet?
I'm now 37+1, being induced next Sunday!
Good luck everyone!

geeup · 12/03/2017 21:07

Wow that's amazing drink - very best of luck and enjoy the last few days of being pregnant!!
My egg collection is pencilled for 31st pending scans. God I hope I'm lucky first time round like you. Any tips? Did you do anything special in stimming or 2ww? Guessing you drank your litre of milk a day during stims?!!

Geeup we had a rather frank discussion with Dr Riddle about diet and supplements. He told us in his opinion it was all tosh and designed to pray on the fears of couples trying to conceive through ivf. He said the best thing we could do was to try and stay relaxed. So we did nothing special. I even continued to have the odd glass of wine. We did stay active and I continued to loose weight (I was on slimming world pre conception). I wish I could say we did xyz and put our success down to that. We also entered into our cycle thinking it was just a trial to see how I would react to the drug regime as Dr Riddle had explained it was likely to take 3 rounds for a successful bfp- so in a way our expectations and ergo stress levels over the cycle were fairly low.

geeup · 13/03/2017 07:21

Ok great advice. Thank you.

Hi Everyone, just had my baseline scan, it was all ok, they said lining is nice and thin and no cysts. I took out my Menopur injection from their pharmacy and will start injecting this tomorrow evening. My next scan is on Monday next week.(first progress scan)

DrinkyourMilk, it's always nice to hear that someone else had same symptoms, like our rash and bruises, also, really nice to hear that you had luck first time, really happy for you.

Geeup, such a relief, your breakthorugh bleed arrived, let us know how you baseline scan goes on Friday.

Darcy, also give as an update whether you have managed to call them and was there any luck with your appointments.

geeup · 13/03/2017 16:52

That all sounds really positive kimmy. What does of menopur are you on and do you have to do it twice a day? Also do you keep doing the buserlin at the same time? I can't remember what they same at the implications appointment when they told me all this stuff!!

OP posts:
Kimmy82 · 13/03/2017 18:10

Hey geeup, my dosage is 150 and I only have to do it once a day, in the evening as they told me at the beginning that I have plenty eggs and they don't want to overstimulate? They have only given me enough to last until my next scan on Monday. After that they will give me more.

Kimmy82 · 13/03/2017 18:29

Oh to answer your question, yes , carry on with Busserelin so I'm doing two injections every evening from tomorrow!

geeup · 13/03/2017 18:32

Ok thanks. Sadly my AMH is a bit crap so I'll be on 300 :( hope I get a decent clutch! Worried I'm not going to respond... good luck tonight!

OP posts:
Kimmy82 · 13/03/2017 18:46

Oh don't worry I'm sure the higher dosage will help and you will respond! They know what they are doing.

MrsDarcy4092 · 14/03/2017 17:21

Hi all

Thanks for all your advice. I emailed the clinic and said we were disappointed to have to wait another 6 weeks having had the appointment booked since Jan so in meantime can they share thr SA results, can we pre book implications and can they confirm what other tests we need. The manager called and apologised and has fitted us in for initial on 12th April and implications on 20th April. Told me what tests we need to have prior to starting so I'm cracking on with that. They wouldn't share SA but said mr Curtis will talk us through it on 12th. I'm reassured as if the SA was any worse we couldn't do icsi so they wouldn't have booked in the implications surely?
I'm viewing this first round just as a test as I don't want to be too disappointed if it fails.

Geeup- good luck for your scan Friday!!

Milk- that's so exciting good luck with your induction and it's so nice to read a positive experience of it working first time! Can I ask what your fertility issue is? thanks for sharing.

Kimmy: great news your baseline was fine, I didn't know there were so many points it could go wrong! Good luck for Monday.

How did you/are you all finding the hormones? Any side affects other than the rashes?

drinkyourmilk · 14/03/2017 17:36

geeup I was started on 300 and upped to 450. Don't despair!! I'm quite old though (39 at EC).
We've a MF issue MrsDarcy. I was expecting to react badly to the hormones - I'm erm feisty during my period Grin, but bar a couple of wibbly teary moments it was fine. I did find the injections stung - but I just counted each one down as something that didn't need repeating.

Great news on your baseline scan kimmy. Before you start this process you don't realise how many things need to be checked off.
I'm coming back as a mouse- they have loads of kids no problem! Grin

MrsDarcy4092 · 15/03/2017 09:08

milk - that's reassuring to hear your mf too and had such good success!

I know I'm a pain but can i just check if I've got this right for long protocol which VW said I will be on-

2 weeks of down reg starting day 21 till break through bleed then a scan to check lining is thin and no cysts

Then stims for 2 weeks with scans to check progress of follicles?

Then trigger injection and ec next day?

Then egg transfer 3-5 days later?

Preg test 2 weeks later?

Have I got it right?

Thanks all! Good luck to you all how are you all feeling?
Milk any signs?

MrsDarcy4092 · 15/03/2017 09:18

And also do vw tell you in advance when scans will be or can this change? Thanks all!!

geeup · 15/03/2017 11:38

Darcy - yes that's the plan I'm in. All I'd say is prepared to be flexible - you never know if you'll react faster or slower to drugs than expected so don't get hung up on dates as they may change.
I got my dates and times for scans etc at my implications appointment. No idea if you can change them easily. I didn't even try! Figured I would put myself in their hands and hope they knew the best day and time for me!
