Hello. Looking for other ladies (or men!) who are IVF cycling with the Victoria Wing at Nuffield Woking either privately or NHS to share what happens, how it's going, any tips (what's the car parking like?!), to support one another and success stories of course. My stats:
Geeup
Aged 34
Ttc #1 for 22 cycles so far (4 with Clomid)
OH has low morphology MFI (but it's varied)
NHS cycle - first appt 31st Jan with Dr Riddle
One question to get us going, anyone know what the policy is about having 2 embryos put in on first cycle? Thanks!

Good luck @NorthSouth85 got my fingers crossed for you and we're both 3rd time lucky 🍀 I'm having 2 transferred on 27th.

Had my baseline scan today and she said it was perfectly thin! So now I'm focusing on building it up so it's all nice and thick and warm. Can't win can we, our bodies must get so confused.

Got lining scan again in 2 weeks and then transfer is 3 weeks today! Eek!

@HWF4 that's great to hear you've got your appointment dates, hopefully it'll all come around nice and quickly so you can get started. How exciting Grin

@Flamingo44 as the others have said just keep moving during the flight and drink lots of water. Lots of ladies travel during pregnancy so you'll be fine, but I'd be worrying the same. Let us know how you are.

NorthSouth85 · 07/09/2017 11:40

Thanks guys for all your comments. It really does make a difference being able to discuss all this with you when you all know the struggle. I've told a couple of friends and family but it's not the same when they haven't been through it.

Had a call today to say they didn't have anything to freeze so we're banking on one of these 2 to hopefully work! Or even both!

I had a scratch too so hopefully our chances are slightly increased.

An early blast is literally hours off becoming a full blast so it could just be the time of day. The ones that they didn't freeze she did say we still growing over the night they just weren't good enough quality to freeze so hopefully the two in me have moved on to good blasts overnight!

Hubby is taking me for lunch today as I just need to get out of the house! I'm so fed up of sitting on the couch!!

RaMaher · 08/09/2017 16:09

Hello !
I am new to mumsnet ! We had 2 rounds of ICSI at Woking Nuffield, 1st round unsuccessful - nothing to freeze. 2nd round gorgeous twin boys who are now 2 and a half. We are just looking into going back for our single frozen embryo ( referred to as Olaf in our house) and wondered if any of you can tell me how long a FET cycle takes and what to expect. Many thanks and good luck to you all x

geeup · 08/09/2017 19:35

Hello @RaMaher congrats - amazing you have twins. Did you have two embryos put back when you got pregnant with them? Did you do anything else like aspirin etc? I've had two rounds of IVF and only a chemical so far so I'll have two put back next time.
I'm having a FET in Nov. I expect to start downregging at the end of Nov, will down reg for just over 2 weeks then start oestrogen tablets for about 12 days, then have a scan, then if all well, transfer about 7 days later (5 day embryo). So if I start buserlin end of Nov, I'll transfer early Jan. Hope that helps.

RaMaher · 08/09/2017 21:29

Hello geeup, thank you so much for your reply I suspect we could be on the same time frame ! I am hoping to see Mr B early November and our first opportunity would be late November/ early dec for day 21start. My successful cycle I did asprin, 5mg folic acid, multivits, and progesterone injections which I insisted on as I had a gut feeling my first cycle failed due to low progesterone support. Hoping Mr B will agree to it again for FET. Not loving the needle but worth it if it works. I also did acupuncture before and after transfer and throughout the cycle and will do that again too.

We had 2 embryos transferred. It took a big discussion to get them to agree to it and I think we were lucky that the consultant doing our transfer was amenable to the idea. We had our best and third best embryo transferred as we knew the second best was already good enough to freeze as a day 5 blast so I felt that it gave us hope if round 2 failed that we had something to go back to. My 4th embryo wasn't good enough quality (not much different to my 3rd) and I do wonder if one of my boys would have been discarded if I hadn't insisted on having 1 and 3 back rather than 1&2, Who knows! I know we are so incredibly lucky to have our boys and I am very happy with the two of them but I just feel I have to go back for their cycle mate - feels like the missing link !

geeup · 08/09/2017 21:42

That's really interesting. I also started bleeding very early (4 days post transfer) on both my failed cycle so think progesterone is an issue for me. The clinic has suggested cyclogest 3 times a day instead of twice but I'm worried that's no enough. What do you think? Do you believe injections are better? Stronger? If so, why did you think that?
Also why did you take the 5mg folic acid? Do you have a higher BMI (hope that's not rude - am just keen to do everything I can!) as I thought 400mg of folic was ok unless I have a higher bmi.
Thank you for replying to me and sorry if what I've said is too direct!

Hi all! Just checking in to see how you all are?

@NorthSouth85 how are you holding up in the TWW?

I had my follicle tracking scan and AMH blood test today. The scan went well and they saw 12 follicles on each side which is good news. Fingers crossed my AMH results will be good but won't find out until our initial consultation on 4th October! So excited to get started now!

Ok - third time lucky, forgot to click post on reply 1, twin 2 disconnected the Wi-Fi on reply 2. Let's see how this one goes!
Can anyone tell me k
How to tag people in posts?
GEEUP - nothing is too personal- ask away, I am happy to help if I can. We have very good friends who lost 2 babies due to anencephaly, they were advised to increase folic acid to ensure that she was having enough. As there are no adverse side effects of having too much folic acid I decided to up mine just in case. I am glad I did especially as we had twins. Progesterone- I felt (no proof of this just but feeling) that cycle 1 failed because I didn't have enough progesterone, i had a big bleed on day 4 - not like a normal period really heavy gushing bleeding with big clots for 2 days. I had some spotting on day 4 of cycle 2 and I panicked and did an extra pessary (it could well have been implantation spotting - I will never know) which I kept doing until our 6 week scan to confirm BFP. I discussed it with the nurses and it was agreed that I could have gestone and pessaries until 12 weeks. Gestone absorbs straight into your blood stream so absorption is much better and faster. I will definitely ask for it again this time. I think it is £6 a day so it is not cheap but I think worth it for peace of mind. I have my appointment with Mr Brook on 30th October.

NorthSouth85 - how are you getting on?

HwF4 - good luck at your appointment.

Hope everyone undergoing treatment is well

Thanks for the notes. Where do you buy the high dose folic acid from? Online?

Hi everyone,

Well the tww has been long.... I'm due to test on Monday but I was really crampy yesterday and had a little brown spotting this morning so I think I know what the outcome will be .. I had the same with my other two cycles.

If it's a negative, does anyone know how long VW usually make you wait before another cycle? Xx

geeup · 17/09/2017 13:31

Sorry you feel the signs are familiar to your previous bfn cycles @NorthSouth85 I won't bother saying the obvious (still not out, lots of ppl have those signs and get a bfp etc) as you know the drill. However if it's the worst news, in my experience VW are keen for you to wait for one natural bleed after a failed cycle (i.e. You would bleed after your bfp, then bleed once more then start downregging) before starting the next cycle. Obvs will keep everything crossed for you though.
I am on CD1 so our natural bfp hasn't happened. No surprises there. Bled onto the sheet at my mums Blush and period pain to top it off. Fun times.

Good luck with your test today @NorthSouth85 I hope your predictions were wrong and it's a BFP for you.

Welcome @RaMaher congrats on your twins! I hope you get your sibling for them with your Olaf (brilliant name)!

Great news on your scan @HWF4 fingers crossed for your other results next month and I hope Oct 4th comes round quickly for you!

@Hopeful4ivf hope you're lining thickening is going well! Is your scan this week?

I made it to and from Hong Kong in 1 piece. Very relieved to be home and my kind best friend (who happens to be a midwife) listened in to the baby's heartbeat on Saturday when I got back so it seems all is still ok in there!

geeup · 18/09/2017 10:58

How many weeks are you now @Flamingo44 ?

OP posts:
Hopeful4ivf · 18/09/2017 11:08

Hi all

Good luck today @NorthSouth85 really hope you get a BFP - my fingers crossed for you

Hope your trip to Hong Kong was good @flamingo44 and that's great you have a midwife friend that helped put your mind at ease after your trip. How many weeks are you now? Sorry I've lost track, will you have a gender scan?

Best of luck with your Olaf @RaMaher and thanks for sharing your experience and positive outcome with your twins at VW.

4th Oct will soon be here @HWF4 , you'll be starting your treatment before you know it and wish you well with that.

I have my lining scan on Wednesday, don't know why I feel nervous as I've had so many of these now and hoping it'll be my last but I do. Think I'm starting to realise now if this fet isn't successful I'll have to face another fresh cycle which last time I got ohss so if that does happen I really hopeVW will be willing to look at a different protocol to avoid that happening. But for now I'll keep my fingers crossed we won't even need to have that discussion with them and we finally get our dream bfp and rainbow baby or babies if both embryos take. Smile

take care all and best of luck again @NorthSouth

Xx

Flamingo44 · 18/09/2017 12:25

@geeup @Hopeful4ivf I'll be 16 weeks on Wednesday. Starting to think I might need to buy some maternity clothes soon, was hoping to wait until the half way mark but clearly my body has other ideas! My 20 week scan is actually at 21 weeks, but we've decided not to find out the gender! After the long wait we really don't mind what we have so thought it would be nice to have a surprise!

@Hopeful4ivf will keep my fingers crossed for your scan and for this FET cycle to be successful. I'm sure you definitely don't want OHSS again, it must be horrid. Hopefully if you're not lucky VW will help you avoid it in the future...but I'm sure you'll be fine on this FET!

NorthSouth85 · 19/09/2017 09:13

Morning guys

Sorry for not posting yesterday.

Well I tested and I got a bfp! Still spotting brown so I called the nurse and she said that dark brown is very common I just have to keep an eye on it.

I tested again this morning just to keep my mind at rest and make sure it wasn't a dodgy test and it was still positive.

So I just have to keep calm now for a couple of weeks until the viability scan on the 3rd October xx

Flamingo44 · 19/09/2017 09:51

Yey! Congratulations @NorthSouth85 that's brilliant news!! I had a little spotting a few days before I tested and some more at 9 weeks and things are still ok for me so far (16 weeks tomorrow) so I'm sure you'll be fine. Try to relax as much as possible and not overdo it! When is your viability scan?

geeup · 19/09/2017 13:02

Ah congrats @NorthSouth85 that's amazing news!! You must be so excited. VW don't do blood tests do they? So now it's just the wait till viability scan.

OP posts:
Hopeful4ivf · 19/09/2017 15:27

Wow amazing CONGRATULATIONS @NorthSouth85 I'm so happy for you and 3rd Oct will soon come around.

Did you do anything different this cycle to your last? Hope you don't mind me asking, just hoping I can join you and share bfp news of my own in a few weeks.

NorthSouth85 · 19/09/2017 15:42

Thanks guys.

I'm just taking it one day at a time. Trying not to get over excited until the scan.

Hopeful - I used embryogen and had a scratch and also previously I had Gonalf instead of menopur so it's been a lot of differences combined!

Hopeful4ivf · 19/09/2017 16:12

Thanks @NorthSouth my cycle is a frozen on so only thing I have changed is the scratch, so hoping this will do the trick fingersverytightlycrossed I have read that some clinics do the embrogen with a frozen by putting the embryo in the solution before transfer but VW won't entertain that so Scratch was in fact the only thing I could do other than personal changes I've made with my diet.

Best of luck on your journey and happy 9 months x

HWF4 · 06/10/2017 10:11

Hi everyone! How are you all getting on?

@NorthSouth, how was your viability scan on Tuesday?

We had our initial consultation with Mr Riddle on Wednesday and it went well. Both of our tests result came back 'very very good' so we will be going with IVF (as opposed to ICSI). We did ask if he had any opinions on why with our test results being so good we have been unable to get pregnant and of course he said he had no idea and it was just one of those things. We have been given an 80% chance of getting to 5 day blastocyst stage with a 60% chance of IVF working which is great.
We were very lucky and the lovely nurse (Caroline) managed to squeeze us in for our implications appointment next Thursday 12th (otherwise we would've had to have waited until after Christmas). AF is due on Monday which means I should be starting with the meds on/ around 29th October. All positive news and looking forward to getting started now!

BeePositive · 06/10/2017 10:28

Hi everyone! I've not been on since around May-time, and I've just started my 3rd cycle (fresh again this time). Buserelin injections after having an endometrial scratch by Mr Riddle on Monday morning.

It's exciting to get started, isn't it HWF4. Wishing you all the very best! May I know what tests Nuffield performed for you?

Is anyone getting PGS (preimplantation genetic screening)?

BeePositive · 06/10/2017 10:35

PS - It's comforting to come back and see some familiar names. Unfortunately not all for the best reasons. Geeup I'm sorry to catch-up on your news, but as always, you are a pillar of support and knowledge for us all on this thread and wishing only the best for you soon. What are your next steps?

Flamingo and 8um8le8ee I'm so pleased to read your happy news. Congratulations to you both! Stay healthy and positive.

HWF4 · 06/10/2017 10:57

@BeePositive wishing you all the best of luck with your 3rd cycle... I so hope it's 3rd time lucky for you!

They just gave us the AMH test, follicle tracking scan and my husband a sperm analysis. All other tests were done by our GP/ consultant!
