Hello. Looking for other ladies (or men!) who are IVF cycling with the Victoria Wing at Nuffield Woking either privately or NHS to share what happens, how it's going, any tips (what's the car parking like?!), to support one another and success stories of course. My stats:
Geeup
Aged 34
Ttc #1 for 22 cycles so far (4 with Clomid)
OH has low morphology MFI (but it's varied)
NHS cycle - first appt 31st Jan with Dr Riddle
One question to get us going, anyone know what the policy is about having 2 embryos put in on first cycle? Thanks!

North - good luck starting stims. Hope that little one is in there growing right now!

Hopeful - I've told them my AF started but waiting for my consultation next Tuesday before I know whether we'll go ahead with the FET. I am worried they won't want to because of my planned holiday but otherwise we won't start till new year which feels a scarily long time away. Will keep you posted when I know though.

Hi everyone! How's it all going?

@geeup that's great news AF showed up and fingers crossed your much deserved holiday won't hinder things at all! I've missed out on a few things because I 'might be pregnant by then' and it's so frustrating. Live in the moment definitely!

I had my letter last week to say funding has been approved which is great news, so now just waiting for an appointment to come through... I'm hoping the process will start before Xmas, although I called the clinic the other week and they say they are very busy at the moment and aren't currently making appointments with an 8 week wait at least... kinda just want the appointment date here now so I can get on with things!!

Just on my phone so will catch up properly with how you all are later! Xx

geeup · 23/08/2017 16:03

Great news your letter is through HWF. 8 weeks feels like forever but at least you're already so much closer than you were. You just have to keep taking one day at a time. I have a countdown app on my phone to help me accept time passing and that I'm getting closer to various dates/appointments etc.

Great news that your scan went well @NorthSouth85 I think the next bit with all the scans felt like it went a bit quicker for me! Good luck with it all.

@geeup good luck with the consultation next Tuesday, hopefully they'll let you start anyway. They can only advise you not to go away during the first 12 weeks, but ultimately the decision is yours and plenty of people do. My friend who had IVF with another clinic actually went away during her 2 week wait and did her first positive pregnancy test on holiday!

@HWF4 I know all the waiting is hard but at least you're moving forward now. Plus you never know, you might be one of those lucky miracles who falls naturally whilst waiting for treatment!

@Hopeful4ivf hope all the injections are going ok. I definitely used to find it was more sore some nights than others...no idea why though!

I had my 12 week scan on Wednesday and everything looked fine so that's good (she did say it was a little hard to see the baby clearly because of all my gas 😳 I'm partly blaming it on the progesterone pessaries which I've now finally finished!). Just have to wait around a week for the syndrome screening results to come through. It means we can start to tell people now, which I know I should be excited about, but I'm still just so nervous that it feels like extra people knowing will be extra pressure! I also went swimming today as I managed to put on 3 kg in just over 2 weeks so now I'm moving into the 2nd trimester I need to start eating more healthily and exercising a bit I think otherwise I'll be like a whale at full term!

NorthSouth85 · 29/08/2017 10:11

Morning all.

Flamingo - congratulations on your 12 weeks! wishing you a perfect 6 months!

HWF4 - they were bust when I received my appointment and it was exactly 8 weeks that I waited.

Hopeful - hope everything's going well?

AFM - I had my day 6 scan yesterday and I have responded well. I have 17 follies in total, one top runner at 17mm and the rest between 10 - 14mm. Lining is 12mm so I'm back tomorrow for another scan and they are hoping to bring EC forward to Friday!

Flamingo44 · 29/08/2017 10:25

That's great news @NorthSouth85 Remind me, is this your first cycle?

NorthSouth85 · 29/08/2017 11:08

Flamingo - this is my 3rd Cycle, hopefully 3rd time lucky! :-)

geeup · 31/08/2017 07:04

Lovely news about your 12 week scan flamingo and good progress north - keep at it!
We've decided our plan for the FET now. I'll be starting downregging when I get AF at the beginning of Nov (8 weeks away ), and having the transfer at the beginning of Jan. Urgh the process takes so long. I asked about a natural cycle but VW's success rates are much higher with medicated so I'm doing that. We're also working it around a long haul flight in Nov. The clinic said they wouldn't want me to fly if I got a bfp so we can't transfer till after that. In the meantime I'll focus on work and losing some weight ideally before my holiday! Desperately hope that means I'll start the year off with a BFP...

NorthSouth85 · 31/08/2017 07:36

That's more positive Geeup! Something to work towards now and you can still look forward to a well deserved holiday!

I went for a scan yesterday and I'm in for EC tomorrow! I have 23 follies and they gave me a dose of Menopur before I left just to encourage some of the smaller ones to mature.

So I triggered last night and they also gave me some tablets to take just to stop me from getting OHSS.

I will let you all know how I get on Smile

geeup · 31/08/2017 07:55

Wow big numbers. Good luck for tomorrow. Hope the ohss stays away!

OP posts:
NorthSouth85 · 03/09/2017 11:59

Hi all

I had EC on Friday and got 21 eggs, however a lot were immature so we got 7 fertilised and are awaiting a call tomorrow to let us know how there getting on.

I'm still happy with those numbers and hopefully the embryogen will help them develop a little better than previous cycles!

How's everyone else getting on?

Flamingo44 · 03/09/2017 18:00

Great news on the 7 fertilised @NorthSouth85 Fingers crossed they all continue to develop well.

Hopeful4ivf · 04/09/2017 07:32

Morning all

Sorry I've not been on for a while...

@NorthSouth85 Congrats on your 7, that's a greeat number and have my fingers crossed for your update call today. How are you feeling after having so many retrieved? I hope the ohss stays away, I had that and it's awful.

@geeup That's great you have your fet plan in place now. How did the appointment go? Did they say if they'll try anything different this time? Did you ask about having 2 transferred as I know you was interested in doing this. Good luck for your next round, at least now you can chill for a bit, look forward to and enjoy your holiday and have an exciting new year to focus on!! Where are you going on your hols?

Lovely to hear you've had your 12 week scan! @flamingo44 Into the 2nd stage now Grin Best of luck! When's your due date?

I have my baseline scan on Wednesday and after that I'm going to be focusing on building up my lining in the best way possible. Has any of you taken baby aspirin during your cycles? If so when did you start taking it? Really hoping the scratch did something and helps get my bfp fingers crossed

X

geeup · 04/09/2017 07:53

Congrats @NorthSouth85 - hope you still have some goodies going strong after the weekend.
@Hopeful4ivf I took baby aspirin last cycle when I had my chemical. I took it throughout the whole cycle. I will take it again for my FET from when I start taking the oestrogen tablets. I'll also have the scratch. I discussed having 2 back which is an option and we'll decide closer to the time.

8um8le8ee · 04/09/2017 13:31

Hi all

Sorry I haven't been on for a while, I've either been sleeping, eating or throwing up!

It's great to hear you are all progressing well and I have my fingers and toes crossed for you.

I booked for a private screening test, NIPT which is a test for downs from 10 weeks, it's more accurate than the combined test through the NHS. We opted for it as our previous pregnacy was downs. Fingers crossed all is ok. It was great to see the little riggler again and my due date is now 3 days sooner.

flamingo this gas is awful isn't it? It's not just the awful bloatedness but the smell. It's just so embarrassing! I have put on weight too so need to start exercising and will give swimming a go after I'm 12 weeks.

Good luck everyone and looking forward to further updates.

Flamingo44 · 04/09/2017 14:27

@Hopeful4ivf hope your baseline scan goes well on Wednesday. Will definitely cross my fingers for this being your successful cycle. My due date is 7th March, that's the one the clinic gave me and it seems to be matching to my scans so far!

@8um8le8ee sorry to hear you've been suffering with morning sickness. I was never physically sick and even the feeling sick has reduced a lot now. When will you get your test results? Fingers are crossed for you? Will you still have your NHS 12 week scan just not the test? We had the NHS screening and it came back as a 1 in 100,000 chance so although not a 100% accurate test I'm hoping that the low risk means everything will be ok.

I have to travel to Hong Kong for work next week, so I'm a little worried about doing a long haul flight. I'll be 14 weeks on the way out and 15 on the way back so into the 2nd trimester for both but it doesn't stop me feeling nervous about it. I've ordered some flight socks as a precaution and will make sure I stay hydrated and move around regularly.

Flamingo44 · 04/09/2017 14:40

Oh and yes the gas is awful @8um8le8ee My husband now says mine smell worse than his 😳 It has got a little better since stopping the pessaries..I'm definitely not as gassy or as bloated as I was!!

8um8le8ee · 04/09/2017 14:52

Thanks flamingo. It's just one of many of those things that come with pregnancy. It's all with it though. That's good you weren't sick but the even though the nausea is bad enough. I get the results in a couple of weeks and yes I'll still have the 12 weeks scan just not the tests. Thats a great result! I remember we had 1 in 500 and then 1 in 5 after the bloods. But i still wouldn't believe it so waited for the amniocentesis.

I travelled to Barcelona when I was 8 weeks and that was against the advice of VW. I read that flights dont effect a pregnancy. Yes wear the flights socks, move as much as you can at least every hour, drink plenty of fluids and take antiseptic wipes and sanitiser to use on anything you touch.

HWF4 · 06/09/2017 11:16

Hi everyone! Sorry I have been a bit quiet recently.

We got our first appointment letter through on Monday. Hubby has his Sperm Analysis on 26th September with our first initial appointment with Mr Riddle on Wednesday 4th October. AF is due on Sunday so I will be going for my AMH Blood test and scan next week too. I'm so excited to get started now. Obviously we have to wait to see what Mr Riddle says in terms of our plan but if we're on long protocol and start meds on day 21 then that will be end of October for us all being well. Could any one tell me a rough time line of how long injections are before EC?

@Lil1986 have you had your appointment letter through yet?

@Flamingo44 I'm so happy your pregnancy is going well, I agree - with your flights to/ from Hong Kong, wear flight socks, keep moving around and drink lots of water :-)

@geeup That's a great idea to get a countdown app - I'll definitely be downloading one for my appointments. Such great news you have a plan in place for your FET now too, I bet you're looking forward to it all starting as well as your holiday - are you going anywhere lovely? That will be nice to relax before it all starts again!

@NorthSouth85 How are you getting on with your embryos? I have everything crossed everything is going well for you this week

@Hopeful4ivf how did your baseline scan go today?

@8um8le8ee that's lovely news your pregnancy is progressing well, when is your due date?

xx

Flamingo44 · 06/09/2017 11:52

Thanks @8um8le8ee and @HWF4 I have bought some flight socks, and although both ways are night flights I will be focusing on moving regularly and keeping hydrated, not sleeping! I figure I can sleep when I arrive! I'm nervous but from most of the research I've done now I'm in my 2nd trimester it should be ok. Plus you see pregnant celebrities jetting here there and everywhere (in 1st class I'm sure) so it can't actually be dangerous or no one would do it!

As for the timeline @HWF4 I think from day 21 to EC I had about 28 days. 15 days of just buserelin, 11 of menopur and buserelin then the trigger, a day off and then in for EC!

Flamingo44 · 06/09/2017 11:52

Sorry, no idea why most of my post is in bold!!

NorthSouth85 · 06/09/2017 16:28

Hi guys
Been for transfer today and we had two early blasts put back. Mr Brook said they were good embryos.

Not really sure how to feel yet as I had an early blast the last two times and it didn't work...

I thought the embryogen would have made more of a difference.

But who knows, I must keep thinking happy thoughts Smile

Hope everyone else is ok x

HWF4 · 06/09/2017 16:58

@NorthSouth85 I have everything crossed for you that this time it's worked. That's good news that Mr Brook said they were good embryos too. I so hope these next 2 weeks go quickly for you. Definitely happy thoughts are the way to go Smile

geeup · 06/09/2017 17:23

So exciting you have two in @NorthSouth85. That's got to help the chances right?! Got everything crossed for you. Make sure you have some nice things booked in to help pass the time.

OP posts:
Flamingo44 · 06/09/2017 21:34

Fingers are crossed for you @NorthSouth85 ! I'm not really sure what an 'early blast' is compared to a normal blast...but the embryologists at the VW are meant to be amongst the best in the country so I'm sure they've put 2 with a fighting chance back! Try to relax (impossible I know) and stay positive.
