Hello. Looking for other ladies (or men!) who are IVF cycling with the Victoria Wing at Nuffield Woking either privately or NHS to share what happens, how it's going, any tips (what's the car parking like?!), to support one another and success stories of course. My stats:
Geeup
Aged 34
Ttc #1 for 22 cycles so far (4 with Clomid)
OH has low morphology MFI (but it's varied)
NHS cycle - first appt 31st Jan with Dr Riddle
One question to get us going, anyone know what the policy is about having 2 embryos put in on first cycle? Thanks!

Thanks @NorthSouth85 hope you're feeling ok and wish you all the best for Saturday! Star

Flamingo44 · 04/08/2017 09:00

Hi Ladies,

Hope you've all had a good week?

@NorthSouth85 well done on the scratch...good luck with starting your down regging tomorrow...fingers crossed for 3rd time lucky!

I had a bit of a scare on Wednesday when I had some bleeding. I automatically jumped to all the worst conclusions, but my GP surgery were great and they managed to get me in for a scan at the hospital. Went and was able to see that the baby was fine, still with its heart beating away and measuring the right size. So the bleeding was obviously just 'one of those things'. Just thought I'd mention it on here in case anyone else gets anything similar one day. Although I'm sure it'll still be impossible to not panic!

Anyway it was just the one incident so I'm hoping it was just a little blip and there won't be any more scares between now and March next year!

Have a good weekend all.

geeup · 04/08/2017 09:26

Sounds scary flamingo but great the bean is happy and growing. Hope that's it and plain sailing from here.

OP posts:
Lil1986 · 05/08/2017 11:55

@Flamingo44 glad everything's ok! Can imagine how scary it must have been!

Hope everyone else is getting on ok?

In theory I'm due on tomorrow or Monday so will find out if final lot of Clomid has worked but definitely not feeling pregnant!
Also got our letter today from Woking saying they've received confirmation of our funding so now to wait patiently for an appt 😂 xx

Hopeful4ivf · 07/08/2017 11:56

@Lil1986
Hi

So sorry I've not had a chance to check my letters til now...
So we got the letter to say the funding has been approved on 15th Sept, then 3rd Oct we received the letter with our initial appointment & semen analysis dates. They were 1st Nov for SA and 15th Nov for the Initial consultation. We then started on the filling cycle, so day 21 started buserelin on 27th December.
You'll received your appointment date sooner I think because they said to me at that particular time they were unusually busier. And I know the nurse commented to me the last time I was there how quiet it had been. Good luck!!!

Sorry to hear your scare @Flammingo44 , really pleased it wasn't anything and you got a scan!

I've got my treatment plan now for my next FET, having the endo scratch next Wednesday (eek), then I start buserelin (again) the following Sunday with ET planned for Sept 27th!!! And they have agreed to transfer 2!!!

I've also started a new get fit loose weight plan! I've put on over 1st6lbs since we started ttc, all these meds have not helped with putting the lbs on as well as the comfort eating every time I hear someone else is pregnant..so I started WW last week and I'm using the gym at least 2 or 3 times a week which is more than before as it was zero! I'm hoping being healthier and loosing some fat will help too...

Hope you're all well.

@8um8ble8ee All the best for your scan tomorrow!!! Let us know how it goes

X

geeup · 07/08/2017 13:34

That's all really positive @Hopeful4ivf - good luck on the lose weight plan. Sure you'll do fanasticly well with the inspiration of a successful cycle!
I really want to know more about the conversation about transferring two embryos - did you have to push for it or was it their idea? Did they give you the guilt trip as per previous cycles when they stress "you have too quality embryos and it's very risky to you and the baby to have two etc etc"?
Have you had scratch before?
Really think I want two in but they make me feel like I'm being selfish and reckless just asking Blush

OP posts:
Hopeful4ivf · 07/08/2017 15:37

Hi @geeup

So when I called to say it was another bfn, I asked the nurse what would happen ... and can I now have 2 transferred as it's been 2 failed with what they have described as excellent quality embryos. And is there anything else like the scratch I could have to help, said we are happy paying for any additional extras. It kinda feels like I made all the new suggestions and they just agreed which I don't feel 100% overjoyed about as I do hope they've given it lots of consideration for a successful cycle.
Anyway the nurse said she would have to put these suggestions to the consultant, Mr Brook, and that the embryologist will also have a say if I have 1 or 2 put back...that was on a Friday and Monday afternoon I got a call to confirm that they agreed it would be a good idea to have the scratch (or was that just my good idea?!) and that it would be ok to have 2 transferred but would have to be 2 of the lower graded embryos, so these will be thawed the day before and watched to see how they get on which leaves us with 2 better grade ones which they will only transfer separately. Hmm In a way I wish I'd pushed to have a chat with Mr B but at the time I think I was too eager to just get on with another cycle and move on.

I've not had the scratch before, I've got the prescription which I need to get before the appointment. And I've also got to renew my chlamydia test so having it done at VW as well because it's impossible to get appointments at my docs.

How many failed cycles have your had now? We've been pushing for 2 embryos since We started, I'm only 37 but think we just want max results, lol. They have always told me only after a couple of failed cycles, and this time they didn't argue or say anything other than what I was told, will have to be the lower graded embryos.

I think if you're happy with having 2 transferred you should definitely request this happens. Really sorry can't remember if you're having another fresh or a frozen cycle?

geeup · 07/08/2017 16:17

I've had two failed fresh cycles (well second was a chemical). Both "top quality" in their words. So frustrating! Will defo push for two at my consultation...

OP posts:
Hopeful4ivf · 07/08/2017 16:59

Yes make sure you do if that's what you want. They said as I had 2 failed now it was fine to put 2.
Have you had the scratch?

geeup · 07/08/2017 17:07

Yes I have. Am defo having again for my next cycle (which will be a FET).
If I was to do another fresh I'd want to do embryogen too but praying I won't need to do another fresh cycle (please god).

OP posts:
Hopeful4ivf · 07/08/2017 17:23

No fingers crossed neither of us need to think about a fresh cycle!! But I have heard good things about the embryogen so would also ask for this too.

Lots of luck to you!!!! Do you know when your fet cycle starts?

geeup · 07/08/2017 18:43

No not yet. Am cd21 of cycle between chemical pregnancy and FET so waiting for AF....
Time is going so slow. I desperately want to get another embryo on board but then remember I'm wishing away the summer and try to appreciate the nice weather!

Hi everyone! I'd like to join the discussion if I can? I found this thread this morning and have ploughed through every single message throughout the course of the day! It's been so helpful and you all seem like a lovely bunch Smile

I am currently waiting to hear back from Nuffield after me and my OH have been referred on NHS. My consultant's (from East Surrey Hospital) referral letter was dated 10th July so I was hoping to have heard back by now. I called them on Friday to which they confirmed they have received the letter but was waiting on some screening results that my consultant hadn't included with the referral Confused. I'm hoping that we hear by the end of this week/ beginning of next with our first appointment date.

This is me:
HWF4
Aged 32
Ttc #1 for 22 cycles so far (6 with Clomid)
Lap & dye and hysteroscopy done last September but all clear
Suspected PCOS (however on my last scan there wasn't any)
Never been pregnant (and dying to see that positive test!)
OH has low morphology MFI (3% on last test)

@geeup I have been following your story and i'm so sorry you have had to go through 2 failed attempts. Praying your AF shows up for you soon so you can have 3rd time lucky!!

Off to a Pilates class now but will check in again later tonight, I just wanted to say hello!

8um8le8ee · 08/08/2017 18:24

Hi all. I posted a messaged yesterday but it didn't post, how annoying.

flamingo that's scary what you went through but so glad to hear all is ok.

hopeful that's great that they are letting you put 2 back and fingers crossed you get at least 1 sticky one.

geeup my fingers are crossed for you too and hopefully AF turns up in good time so you can make a start.

Welcome HWF4 good luck with the journey. Everyone at VW are lovely, it is a very good clinic. I'm glad you found this group, I found everyone was so helpful and it reassuring when everyone understands what you are going through. Good luck and I look forward to hearing about your progress.

I had my viability scan today and it was very emotional. There was one little kidney bean in there and I saw it's heart beat. Wow you just can't beat that feeling.

I wish you all the best of luck. X

geeup · 08/08/2017 18:43

Congrats @bumble that's amazing. Wishing you a very healthy and happy remaining 7-8 months.
Welcome @HWF4. Good to see a new VW recruit. Are you expecting to have icsi? For what it's worth, we were expecting to do icsi as my DH had iffy morphology (between 1-3%) but on both fresh cycles his sample was good enough to do IVF and 5 out of 6 eggs fertilised both times. It's made me wonder what is going on inside me as it suggests we can make embryos but that they don't implant. It's a weird business! Anyway good luck and welcome aboard. Hope you get going quickly.

OP posts:
HWF4 · 08/08/2017 20:42

@8um8le8ee that must've been truly a special moment to see on the screen along with it's heartbeat. How exciting! I can't wait until I have that (hopefully in the near future!) Wishing you a very healthy pregnancy. Looking forward to reading all about your progress.

@geeup I think I am expecting to have ICSI... my OH has had x2 sperm tests, the first one in May last year which was just 1% morphology and then another test in September last year which was then 3% (after the first test he started taking pycnogenol daily and still does now as it is meant to help with low morphology). I'm guessing VW will have us do a few tests again so will see what the next one will come out like! Our hospital consultant didn't seem to think it mattered as hubby has everything else sperm wise 'in excess' Grin. I know what you mean - i wish I could see what was happening in my body every month... who knows we may have been making embryos each time but my body is having none of it. I do suffer from spotting for 5 - 7 days before my period (although not every month) so I'm guessing I might have a hormone imbalance despite all blood tests i've had have come back normal... i've tried acupuncture, fertility yoga, have seen a nutritionist (changing my diet drastically) and also tried meditating but frustratingly nothing seems to have worked)... I am currently researching into Arvigo Abdominal Massage as my acupuncturist seems to think i have a circulation issue (I've always been a person who gets cold easily)... I am willing to try everything!

Already posting and reading this thread has made me feel heaps better... I have been feeling quite anxious the quite couple of days hoping to see the letter on the doormat when I come home from work and then frustrated when it's not there. Thanks for being so welcoming! Easter Smile

Flamingo44 · 08/08/2017 21:41

Congrats @8um8le8ee it really is amazing isn't it! The only 'good' thing about my scare last week was getting to see the little bean again! 2 weeks tomorrow until my 12 week scan so I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping it goes as quickly as possible!

Welcome @HWF4 ! Sorry you find yourself here but it is really nice to have this forum to discuss things and ask questions on. Will keep my fingers crossed for a lucky first cycle for you!

Good news about your new plan @Hopeful4ivf Fingers crossed this is the winning formula!

Sorry that time is going so slowly @geeup (it is for me too...I'm not sure when it starts to go a normal pace again!) I hope AF turns up on time and then you'll be on a count down to the next cycle. I'm sure this one will be 3rd time lucky!

Hopeful4ivf · 20/08/2017 00:14

Hi all

Sorry I haven't been on for a while.

So Wednesday I had the scratch and it wasn't very nice but over pretty quickly. It wasn't as painful as I thought so much so I came home and panicked that he didn't do it right! I know there's no winning, I stress about everything! Shock Anyway I had some spotting that afternoon and day after so I'm happy in that I think he did certainly do something! Lol - just bl00dy pray it works now!!!!! Smile

I start my buserelin jabs tomorrow, hate those so much, and dreading the weight gain esp when I've been trying to be good on my new WW diet but also excited just to get on with it, transfer is booked for 27th Sept. I don't know why it takes so long, I know someone doing a fet and they are only on buserelin for 2 weeks before transfer...worry about being on it so long

While I was at the clinic I spoke to one of the embryologists and she explained that we have 2 good embryos left and 2 'average', I'm still non wiser what this actually means other than we have used our 'excellent' embryos for our last 2 failed transfers Sad. I didn't know they froze average ones but anyway they are the one they are going to thaw and watch ivernighg...if not I've said they just need to thaw the good ones and give me 2 no matter what. We have another fresh cycle left so no point leaving them in storage... I asked for embryo glue but they won't use it with a frozen transfer Confused I've read online it can be used but who knows...Find VW not very open to try new things to help it work.

@geeup How are you getting on? Did Af arrive? Have you spoken to them about transferring 2?

How is everyone else doing? Hope you're all having a lovely wknd

Xx

geeup · 20/08/2017 08:10

Hey hopeful. No I'm still waiting for AF. No sign still. Am on cd32 I think. Did they say a definite yes to having two in then?

OP posts:
geeup · 20/08/2017 08:20

Also can you tell me what the timings are for a FET with VW. Presumably scratch and start buserlin around cd21. Then is is 2 weeks downregging, 2 weeks oestrogen and 5 days progesterone for a 5dt?

OP posts:
Hopeful4ivf · 20/08/2017 09:27

Morning @geeup
What are your cycle length normally? Mines always about 30-34 days which can be annoying

Yes definitely have agreed to transfer 2 no matter which ones thaw and look the best. If the lower grade ones don't look great the embryologist said they thaw the next 2...when I ask why last 2 failed if embryos were so good, she read my notes and went a bit silent...she then awkwardly said erm they might just not have been right... think even she was baffled why it didn't work Shock

Rough fet timeline - buserelin for 19 days (which I worry is a lot), you have a baseline scan then tablets start for another 16days then another scan during tabs which after that increase, then pessaries ready for 5dt. It's about 5weeks plus a few days for the whole thing. I had scratch on cd16. Hope this helps and best of luck x

geeup · 20/08/2017 15:33

Thanks for that info. Feeling that's a long time away!! CD1 here (bizarrely after my whinge about no sign of AF she showed up!) so will call the clinic tomorrow. My only fear is we're booked to go on a long haul holiday in Nov when (if we were successful in getting pregnant) we'd be nowhere near 3 mths. However after a lot of advice about not putting out life on hold we booked it and we'll just cross that bridge when we come to it.

OP posts:
Hopeful4ivf · 20/08/2017 17:42

That's good to hear af finally showed!

Sounds like a good plan @geeup I've missed out and not done a lot of thing because of the 'what if' while we've been Ttc.

Where are you off too?

Hopeful4ivf · 21/08/2017 22:29

@Lil1986 - Have you heard anything about your appointment yet?

@geeup - did you contact the clinic to start your fet cycle? When you get your plan can you let me know how long you're on buserelin for? I'm worried I'm on it for such a long time compared to other people's treatment plans.

@HWF4 - how are you getting on?

Started my buserelin jabs yesterday and even after 3 previous cycles of injections it still hurt like hell! I swear some needles are sharper than others! Confused

NorthSouth85 · 22/08/2017 09:58

Morning all,

I had my baseline scan yesterday and everything is looking good. Start menopur tonight, then in for a scan on Monday. It feels like I've waited so long!

Hopeful - this was the first time I have injected for DR and I agree they can sting a little, I also had a couple of bruises off some. Glad you have got started!

Geeup - a holiday is a good idea! and it will be sods law that you get pregnant now! So maybe its a good thing!
I have missed out on so many things whilst we have been trying. Then I was invited on a hen do abroad for next year and thought why not! If I get pregnant and have to cancel then so be it! It will be worth it!

Hope everyone else is doing ok!

Flamingo / Bumble - how are you getting on?
