Hello. Looking for other ladies (or men!) who are IVF cycling with the Victoria Wing at Nuffield Woking either privately or NHS to share what happens, how it's going, any tips (what's the car parking like?!), to support one another and success stories of course. My stats:
Geeup
Aged 34
Ttc #1 for 22 cycles so far (4 with Clomid)
OH has low morphology MFI (but it's varied)
NHS cycle - first appt 31st Jan with Dr Riddle
One question to get us going, anyone know what the policy is about having 2 embryos put in on first cycle? Thanks!

Thanks 8um8le8ee you're right, I do believe timing is key.

Exciting you're starting downregging this weekend. Natural to be nervous of course, and it will be combination of the 'scary' injections (which aren't that bad really) and that you're now officially 'doing it'!

I can see where VW are coming from in having some guidelines around who they feel may not require the scratch yet, however, if it is so beneficial and something that they aren't expected to cover the costs, surely it should be our choice to have it first or fifth time. I'd rather have a more 'guaranteed' successful first round, than having to go through the strain, pressure, emotions and disappointment, cycle after cycle to finally be 'eligible' by their standards.

Anyway, wishing you all the very very best for this cycle and getting started. Let us know how you get on and hoping the meds play nice for you!

Flamingo44 · 02/06/2017 12:11

I agree, it's frustrating that they won't let you throw everything at cycle 1...I know that they need to learn how you react to things, but as you say Beepositive if it improved first time success rates it would save a lot of time and heartache on this rollercoaster!

8um8le8ee exciting that you are getting started. I felt the same at the beginning...it's a mixture of nerves hoping that everything goes right and excitement to finally be doing something! I think I've been feeling ok so far on the buserelin! I was a little more emotional than usual before my AF (which was about 6 days late) but since then I think I'm back to normal! Did my first menopur injection last night so also hoping for no nasty symptoms on this one!!

Definitely keep us updated on progress...it's nice to follow everyone's journey on here.

BeePositive · 02/06/2017 12:29

Good luck flamingo the Menopur injections are more tricky (in terms of the procedure to mix and switch between needles), but I'm sure you're getting the hang of it all and I'm pleased to hear you are feeling normal overall. Best wishes!

moggle · 02/06/2017 13:26

flamingo - the embryo transfer part is £1100, then the drugs before and after are all pretty cheap- I think I ended up with about 4 or 5 prescriptions all about £30-50 each. The scratch was £150 but I will double check that. Whole thing was £1450 or so this time.

Flamingo44 · 02/06/2017 21:25

Thanks Beepositive they are a little trickier but at least there's not as many to do!

Thanks Moggle, it's great to have a ball park and to know it's quite considerably cheaper than a full fresh cycle!

Have a lovely weekend everyone. X

8um8le8ee · 02/06/2017 21:47

It is frustrating about the scratch but it is what it is, just have to get on with. Thank you beepositive and flamingo.

Good luck flamingo with you menopur.

I've booked my acupuncture in today starting next week at Crofton Healthcare in Woking. Has or is anyone else having acupuncture and have you been to Crofton?

Have a lovely weekend x

moggle · 02/06/2017 22:10

I've been seeing Nadia at crofton and I believe geeup has too. Nadia's lovely and I found it very relaxing!

8um8le8ee · 02/06/2017 22:31

Excellent thanks moggle. I'm going to have a mix of both Nadia and Becky as Nadia is fully booked for a couple of weeks and she may be on holiday when I have my embryo transfer. I don't mind really as long as it's relaxing and can help.

geeup · 02/06/2017 23:15

Yes I saw both of them. It's worth a shot!

moggle · 03/06/2017 08:58

Oh Becky is lovely too. I saw her for my first session and we had a great chat, it was really nice to talk to someone else about it all. Enjoy it!

MrsDarcy4092 · 04/06/2017 08:00

Hi all, I've been away on holiday and missed a lot it seems! Will go back and read to catch up later on the computer. I just wanted to tell you all I start my buresilin tomorrow. I'm also having acupuncture and have booked some Indian head massages in purely for a nice treat to chill out Rather than any known benefit. I'm under mr Curtis and he's keen on a low carb high protein diet which I'm struggling with but trying- anyone else had to do this?

geeup · 04/06/2017 09:09

Ooh I love a head massage! Yes I tried to do high protein but didn't stop carbs or anything - just increased proportion of protein and a bit less pasta etc. I did try and snack less between meals too but it's hard. When I saw one of the nurses recently they did say to try what you can but ultimately it's a numbers game and down a lot to luck. So try but don't beat yourself up/stress over it.

Hi mrsdarcy hope you had a lovely holiday. I start buserelin today, our timings are similar! I'm with Mr Curtis too and he said ĺow carbs high protein too and no snacks. I'm a serial snacker so have been finding it hard but have stuck to it and I am wheat intolerant so tend to eat less carbs. I've always used an app called my fitness pal to log my food so I know roughly what my nutritional intake is and I've increased protein 35%, reduced carbs 25% and increased fat too 40%. It's difficult as it feels wrong to cut down on fruit and veg but if I don't my carb levels are higher than protein. I am literally only eating chicken, eggs, halloumi, Greek yogurt, fish, only 1 piece of fruit a day, 1 portion of veg and a glass of almond milk. I find this really tough so I can imagine it's going to be hard if you haven't changed your diet like this before.

I'd love to have an Indian head massage! I start acupuncture next week too.

Good luck with it all! It will be great to go on the journey with you.

MrsDarcy4092 · 05/06/2017 05:56

Wow 8um8le8ee you are doing so well with the high protein diet!! I think I prob manage it 75% of the time but I'm managing to not snack at all. Will try harder with the protein.

How was bureslin last night?

MrsDarcy4092 · 05/06/2017 06:02

Good tip about my fitnes pal I'm going to use that!
My sister had a baby last night. I feel in a good place though and excited to meet her. Hope that lasts!

8um8le8ee · 06/06/2017 12:11

Well done mrsdarcy 75% of the time is good and so is no snacking as it is hard. The injections have been fine, the first one was a bit nerve racking but I think that was down to actually doing then again.

Yes my fitness pal is good as it helps to monitor nutritional intake.

Congratulations on becoming an aunt! It will be you soon x

moggle · 06/06/2017 19:19

Wow 8um8le that is impressive. I would be constipated within a day on that diet! Don't worry about loosening the rules a bit as you go along if it's stressing you out at all. I just used to make milkshake with whey powder and ate a bit more protein and a bit less carbs. And then as soon as I was pregnant it all went out the window and I was chowing down on all the greasy junk I could get my hands on!

8um8le8ee · 06/06/2017 19:37

Thanks moggle. Lol yes it did cause constipation at first but then I started to drink a lot more water which helped with the movement. I do slip sometimes but I do feel pretty good eating this way. I know for sure it will go out the window when I'm pregnant and I can't wait... lol!

Flamingo44 · 06/06/2017 21:52

8umble8ee that's very impressive you're being so good with your diet...I am trying only to snack on plain nuts and not eat too many sugary/carb foods...but also trying to not get too stressed out or fixated on it if I fall off the wagon!

I've seen a few people talk about acupuncture on here recently I have been having it regularly for about 8/9 months but really wanted to have it before and after egg transfer. I contacted Nadia but unfortunately she was fully booked on my planned transfer date so I asked her recommend someone else nearby. Amongst her recommendations was a lady called Susan who's based in nearby Send so I am seeing her hopefully! If anyone ever struggles with availability I can share her details.

I have my first progress scan tomorrow...quite nervous incase I haven't got many follicles!

8um8le8ee · 07/06/2017 16:27

Thanks flamingo I think it's because I was following a low carb high protein diet before so it's not so hard bring that extra strict.

That's good you have found someone else. I was struggling to get my first appointments in buy managed to. I start on Saturday.

Good luck with your first progress scan!

Flamingo44 · 07/06/2017 19:43

I hope you enjoy your first session on Saturday 8um8ble8ee. It's a nice relaxing way to spend an hour!

My scan went ok thank you! They measured 12 follicles between 8mm and 14mm in size so I guess now I just see how they grow on Friday!

8um8le8ee · 08/06/2017 11:48

Hi flamingo. Thanks, yes can't wait for the acunpuncture.

That's great news RE your follicles, that's one less hurdle to worry about. Good luck on Friday!

Flamingo44 · 12/06/2017 10:02

Hi Everyone, how are you all doing?

Moggle not long to go before the scan now, hope you're still feeling reassuringly sick (in the nicest way possible!)

MrsDarcy and 8um8le8ee how are the injections going? Hope you're not suffering any side effects?

Geeup hope the scratch went ok and you feel good that you've gotten started again?

BeePositive hope you're enjoying the break from it all and looking forward to your holiday.

(Sorry if I missed anyone!)

I had my final progress scan this morning. They seem happy with my follicles so it looks like I'll be triggering tonight for egg collection on Wednesday. I'm just waiting for them to call me this afternoon to confirm and tell me the injection times. Will be glad to finish the stimulating as I'm feeling pretty full up and a bit bloated now!

geeup · 12/06/2017 12:22

Oh great news flamingo! You're nearly there! Hope it goes really well. Did they say how many they thought were in there?

OP posts:
MrsDarcy4092 · 12/06/2017 13:08

Great news @flamingo!

My Dow reg injections going well so far, one week in and think I've had one hot flush and felt tired a couple days but might not be related. So I'm not doing too badly! I guess stims is when the side effects really get going?
