Hello. Looking for other ladies (or men!) who are IVF cycling with the Victoria Wing at Nuffield Woking either privately or NHS to share what happens, how it's going, any tips (what's the car parking like?!), to support one another and success stories of course. My stats:
Geeup
Aged 34
Ttc #1 for 22 cycles so far (4 with Clomid)
OH has low morphology MFI (but it's varied)
NHS cycle - first appt 31st Jan with Dr Riddle
One question to get us going, anyone know what the policy is about having 2 embryos put in on first cycle? Thanks!

I was still on light flow when I had my baseline and it was totally fine.

We've got implications tomorrow and my ct scan results of my sinus so keeping fingers crossed!
Will keep you all posted.

Flamingo44 · 24/05/2017 21:48

Ok, that's good to know, thanks Geeup.

Good luck tomorrow MrsDarcy.

moggle · 24/05/2017 22:23

flamingo they told me that usually as long as you've had the first day or two of your bleed the scan will show the lining is fine. I'm usually still bleeding when I've had that scan.

moggle · 25/05/2017 07:20

Eek, caved and did a test at 6.30 this morning and it was a BFP :-) looks strong so really hope it sticks. Official test day tomorrow. Yay!

Flamingo44 · 25/05/2017 07:44

Oooh moggle that is SO exciting! Congratulations!! If I get that far I know I'll want to cave and test early too.

Thank you for your comment about the baseline scan yesterday too.

Let's hope you're the start of a lucky run for all of us! x

geeup · 25/05/2017 08:06

Oh wow moggle that's amazing!! Congratulations. Am I right in thinking that's third time lucky for you and first ever bfp?

That's amazing news moggle! Thank you for making my day extra special this morning. Wow you have given me increased hope. Congratulations I'm so happy for you. X

moggle · 25/05/2017 11:00

No we already have a DD from our first fresh cycle in 2014, this is foirth time lucky FET (we did get a BFP after one of the others but it ended after a week sadly).
Thanks all xxx

BeePositive · 25/05/2017 12:23

Great news moggle! Thanks for sharing early. And great it's a strong positive. Best wishes for u this fourth time lucky. Virtual hugs!

MrsDarcy4092 · 25/05/2017 14:24

Congratulations moggle!! That's such lovely news. Such a gorgeous day weather wise too it's hard not to be positive 😀

BeePositive · 26/05/2017 15:19

How was your appointment yesterday mrsdarcy? Did you get your plan and happy? What news from dentist CT scan?

I also had my follow up appointment at Victoria Wing yesterday and was all psyched to get my next plan (fresh cycle, round 3) and get started mid June BUT the long-haul holiday we have booked in August has thrown a spanner in the works. VW said the timings won't work as I'll either be hopefully early weeks pregnant, or the other option is I'd be doing stims. Not ideal being bloated and injections on holiday. "Just cancel the holiday" I hear you say. We would, but it's a big one for an important wedding anniversary and besides loosing out a lot £ on the deposit, we feel it's the right thing to do for us as a couple to take the time out and re-focus fully again when back. I'm just disappointed on the timings as I would have been able to squeeze in this next cycle and know if BFP or BFN a week or two before jetting off. So if it was negative, it would have been a great way to get away and distraction from the sad news. However, if it was positive, I would have seen it as a celebratory holiday (sans alcolhol!) but VW say it's not recommended to fly in the first trimester of pregnancy, and after going through all of this, it seems madness to risk it at that precious stage.

I'm also disappointed to know that VW do not do PGS testing. I feel that this gives you greater hope for choosing the best embryo's. And if this technology is available, why not encourage it to get better chance of it sticking, vs cycle after cycle with embryo's that had no chance to start with. It was something I really wanted to try 3rd time.

The two other things I am opting in for and able to do next time are the scratch, and the use of EmbryoGen. Anyone know anything about these? And are they really beneficial?

geeup I know you're planning on the scratch too. Is it planned in? When do you start downregging?

Waves to everyone!

geeup · 26/05/2017 22:56

Hey bee. Well funny you say you're delaying because we've just decided to as well. I've had this epically long period (2 weeks!) where I had one night of red blood then about a week of brown then three days red then brown spotting. As a result I have no idea what cycle day I am. The clinic said the second set of red blood was probably CD1 so moved all my dates for scratch and downregging etc back by a week but I just don't feel confident that the timings would be right. The scratch is supposed to be done on day 21 so if we get it wrong it feels like a waste of money.
Sorry for rambling on. In short, we think we'll delay a month. I'm sad that another month will pass but you have to give these things your best short don't you.

OP posts:
BeePositive · 27/05/2017 19:04

Absolutely geeup. I feel your frustration at delaying (mine will be 3 months!) but I am trying to convince myself it's the 100% best thing to do. I hope for you too geeup, as yes you want to get the timings right especially the additional treatments. Sorry to hear about a monster of AF. May the month ahead be a positive time & good luck to us all.

Are u planning EmbryoGen too? Anyone know anything positive on scratch & EG?

geeup · 27/05/2017 20:18

What is embryogen bee? I haven't heard of it. Is it the time lapse thing?

OP posts:
BeePositive · 28/05/2017 14:12

I believe it's s culture the embryo is put in geeup to increase chance of implantation, that Victoria Wing offers as extra. I was hoping someone else might have more info. Anyone?!

Flamingo44 · 30/05/2017 12:26

Hi Everyone, hope you all had a good bank holiday weekend.

Sorry to hear you're having to delay things a little Geeup and Beepositive although it sounds like you've both made the right decision.

I can't help with the EmbryoGen as I've never heard of it. Will be interested to learn more about it though.

My AF finally showed up in the middle of the night whilst I was camping (thanks for the Mother Nature!!) but at least I'm back on track for my baseline scan tomorrow.

How is everyone else getting on? X

BeePositive · 30/05/2017 12:52

Thanks flamingo. Maybe some relaxing camping was just what was in order for AF to make an appearance. Good luck with the BL scan tomorrow.

How are you getting on moggle? Still smiling I'm sure and when is your first scan date? I know you were recommended the scratch, but did you have it ahead of your wonderful BFP now? And did they recommend EmbryoGen also?

As you can tell, I'm itching for anyone who might know more on this?

Waves to everyone!

moggle · 31/05/2017 10:16

Hi, yes still smiling, and starting to feel a bit queasy which is reassuring! But not so queasy that I'm worrying about twins... our viability scan is on June 14th it cannot come quick enough!

Yes I did have the scratch before this cycle. I don't know anything about embryogen - but this was a frozen cycle so I don't think it would have been applicable.

BeePositive · 31/05/2017 11:20

Thanks for reply, moggle. Glad to know you did have scratch and hopefully that was some part helpful in your positive news.

Sorry to hear you've been a bit queasy, but glad you're still smiling and I'm sure counting the days till your scan. Good luck for 14th! Keep us posted x

geeup · 31/05/2017 14:39

That's great you're feeling a bit sick moggle! (Weird thing to say but you know what I mean!)
I've had another about turn re timings. Despite iffy timings due to weird period, I'm going to go ahead this cycle. I have my scratch on the 9th (Friday next week) assuming my period doesn't come before then, and I'll start downregging the same day.
Bee - I've asked the clinic about embryogen and if I can have that too but no answer yet. I have read the clinical trials which all sound really positive and I can't see a reason why everyone isn't doing it I shouldn't give it a go. It sounds like it can improve the communication between the embryo and lining so hopefully increase chance of implantation. I really want to throw the kitchen sink at this cycle so I hope they'll let me.
I really like our clinic - the nurses are amazing - but I find it a bit frustrating that I find out about all these things we can try on mumsnet instead of the clinic telling me about them. There's nothing on their website and no one has ever suggested anything to me as an option. I know they're not recommended by the NHS but the clinical trials seem positive so I'd appreciate the choice?

OP posts:
BeePositive · 31/05/2017 15:31

Totally agree geeup. I love the nurses at VW and everyone has been really supportive and professional (through appointments, medication/injection dispensing, to the more scary egg collection procedure and embryo transfer).

But I wish I'd known more earlier to have done more of the things I now know from this thread and having to probe VW on other options.
I think it's great you are planning on going for it all with next cycle. Wish you all the very best with the scratch and starting your downregging. The EmbryoGen is an additional £450 to pay for, as yes, NHS does not cover this. But if it works, count me in!

Let us know how you get on on the 9th Smile

geeup · 31/05/2017 19:41

Ah thanks for telling me it's £450. That was my next question for the clinic. Helpful to know! Now just need to find out if they'll let me!

Flamingo44 · 01/06/2017 12:40

That's great that you're going to get going again Geeup Will definitely be interested in what you learn about all the added extras. The scratch is something I already asked about but they weren't keen on me trying it on my first go! After this I'll be self funding though so I guess it'll be my choice a little more. Anyone know how much they charge forte scratch please?

Baseline scan went well yesterday so I start my stimming injections tonight. Really hoping to get a good crop of follicles so that we can do a couple of FETs if this cycle isn't successful but we shall see! Moggle would you mind at all to share the rough cost of a FET cycle? Also are they shorter than long protocol fresh cycles?

Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone! x

8um8le8ee · 02/06/2017 11:31

It's great your still smiling moggle even though you have the pregnancy symptoms. I remember my first pregnancy I was so sick and hated the whole experience but after I lost my baby I can't wait for those feelings again. I think that women that don't conceive so easily and naturally rise above the symptoms somehow as it is all worth it.

geeup and beepositive I bet it's annoying having to hold back but everything happens for a reason and timing is so important.

flamingo you are in progress! I start my buserelin on Sunday. I feel quite nervous, not sure whether it's due to the injections or that the process is actually starting. I do worry about my moods too and hope I don't get too stressed out with things. How are you getting on?

I called VW yesterday to ask about the scratch and they said they wouldn't recommend it to me. It is only offered after 2 or 3 failed attempts. There doesn't seem to be any parameters they go by apart from failed attempts. I said I wanted to have it and they said they wouldn't do it for me. It's quite annoying as I think it would increase my chances from reading the studies and success rates.
