I have survived my first day, felt ok so far, but do have a very slight headache. Nothing to write home about mind.

LittleFox10 · 13/11/2016 13:54

Glad you haven't had any bad side affects doom.

Did my first opk this morning with nothing to show! So hopefully it means that Clomid isn't messing around, with too much LH and will get a smiley in the next few days.

Xxx

accidentalgrownup · 13/11/2016 21:48

Hi everyone! Mind if I join you? It's my first round of clomid ttc number 2, on CD 34....was hoping clomid would shorten my cycles (normally around 38 days) but I guess not. Got a BFN so wanting her to arrive so I can get on with round 2!

Footy1 · 14/11/2016 06:50

Hi everyone,

I'm really hoping they will up my dose, have gynaecologist appt tomorrow. Waiting for norethisterone to induce AF. Had loads of side effects on that too (doomed with side effects it seems on anything!) read that If u have side effects on it they are what you feel when pregnant as its how your body deals with added progesterone that doubles each day. So rock hard aching sensitive boobs, tiredness and nausea. Joys...! Suppose wouldn't mind if get a baby at the end.

Clomid side effects didn't kick in until second cycle. Took it at night first 2 cycles, but was restless and hot in night. Then next cycle took it in day and felt hot, sick and headaches so guess the night time was better. Doom, let's hope u don't get any s/e.

Hope u feel better littlefox, u will have to make moving fun by christening the rooms yes!

Jelly sorry to hear about cp, hope clomid works for you next cycle.

Figroller, are u monitored at 150mg?
My AF's on clomid were not even a proper AF! It was spotting for a day or two no cramps whatsoever. Almost missed it. Not sure if that's a good sign or not? However the norethisterone is going to bring an AF like nothing before horrendous pains already :(

Hi to everyone else, sorry if I've missed people. Didn't have time to read the whole thread. Welcome accident, my cycles were def shorter - I ovulated two cycles at cd8! Which gave me a cycle of 23 days. Only time it's lengthened it is when i didn't ovulate. But have heard it can do both. Do u take it cd2-6? Or later?

accidentalgrownup · 14/11/2016 07:39

Hey, I take 50mg CD 2-6. I had follicle tracking before I started and do ov but not until later in my cycle. Had CD21 bloods but not had the results yet....
Trying to not get too stressed about it all, I've not actually mentioned the clomid to my DH, is that bad? We've already got one DC, ive got PCO but had no trouble first time round.

doomkittycleo · 14/11/2016 08:10

Accidentalgrownup DP does know you're trying tho right?

My DP gave me the go ahead to start my clomid a couple of weeks ago, but I've not mentioned it again as all the "TTC" talk gives him performance anxiety.

Just gotta speak to you guys about it instead.

Hopefully we'll exchange contracts on the new house this week so it's all go over here Confused

accidentalgrownup · 14/11/2016 09:27

Ha ha yes he knows! We've been TTC since August 15 and his reaction is to bury his head in the sand...he would just be happy with the one we've got but....I'd absolutely love another one. I think clomid is our only chance as anything else is out of the question on the NHS when you already have a child (which I do agree with). Hopefully it will work for all of us soon!!

CatVO · 14/11/2016 09:38

Hi everyone and welcome to new posters! I've been a bit radio silent this week. Anyway, had FT scan on Friday and sadly it looks like my 2nd round of clomid (5days 100mg + 5 days 50mg) hasn't done anything either. I'm going for another scan on 21st to see if anything has changed but I'm doubtful. I was a bit gutted tbh, as I really thought maybe this round would have worked. It doesn't sound like my doc will put me on any higher dose...he things my best bet is the ovarian drilling :(

Hope everyone else is having a bit more luck, and hope house moving going well for all those doing it!

Footy1 · 14/11/2016 12:59

Catvo what is drilling?and is it free on Nhs?
Sorry to hear clomid hasn't worked. It's really weird that it worked for me some months but not others? How many cycles have you got left? Did they mention an extra shot?

Doomkitty /Accidentyes my DH wants a baby but doesn't like the term trying for one! Even tho we are! He doesn't like pills or anything as feels they are not natural so he knows I've been given clomid and norethisterone to help regulate cycles, but haven't gone into details. I do have twins in family already so wouldn't b a shocker if I get multiples to him.** He also doesn't like to know fw as he feels under pressure. Luckily he's open to idea of plenty of sex.

YouBoggleMyMind · 14/11/2016 15:40

Sorry to hear your news cat.
All I would say is make sure you read up fully on ovarian drilling and understand the risks. It's full name is laparoscopic ovarian diathermy. Essentially surgeons will burn through the cysts on your ovaries with a very small laser/hot needle and this removes some of the testosterone produced. This can bring back normal ovulation, however it isn't permanent and cysts return along the line. There is also the risk of damaging eggs and putting you into early menopause. This was the off putting thing to me and why I haven't agreed to have it done.

YouBoggleMyMind · 14/11/2016 18:02

And right on cue I get a letter with a pre op date for lap & dye and ovarian drilling, despite the fact that I said I didn't want to go down that route and it is even in a letter I was sent from the fertility clinic... why don't they listen?? It's really pissed me off.

Figroller · 14/11/2016 18:10

Oh no cat, sorry things haven't turned out as you hoped.

I've been for my first ft scan today and it wasn't good news for me either. I'm only cd6 but she said my lining was really thick, more like mid cycle and I only had one follicle which was too big so probably just a cyst. Think we can write this cycle off tbh.

I feel like I can't discuss things with my dh either, he always moans that he feels under pressure! I wonder how he thinks I feel, taking all these drugs and keep attending scans twice a week.

Figroller · 14/11/2016 18:12

Oh no boggle, what will you do now?

YouBoggleMyMind · 14/11/2016 18:16

I'll have to ring and cancel so that another lady who actually wants it can have it. It's just frustrating. It's upset me and I know it shouldn't do but it has. I've been having a break from it all for the last 3/4 weeks and it's been nice. I'm now just right back where I was Sad

Figroller · 14/11/2016 18:26

I understand how you feel. I wish I had never taken clomid now. Just before my appointment came through I had accepted that this probably wasn't going to happen, but this gave me fresh hope and I started to think it might happen again. This is so tough, it's not fair.

doomkittycleo · 14/11/2016 21:38

Sorry to hear your news cat that sucks Sad. boggle that's awful, how upsetting that must be Angry.

footy/accident these fellas don't have a clue do they lol. I'm happy to keep quiet about ovulation, cervical mucus etc. as long as he does his bit.

I have felt a few things going on today. Only subtle, but feels similar to ovulation pains, but it's only cd4 and I don't usually get a positive opk till cd14-17. Hopefully it's my ovaries waking up from their long sleep I can feel.

Will start with the opk's on cd10 I think.

CatVO · 15/11/2016 10:14

Hello all. I know, it's really rubbish, but I'm just trying to stay positive because, well...what else do we have.

Boggle yeh, I've been reading a lot on ovarian drilling, and it's definitely worried me. But for every bad thing you read, I read things about how it's really worked for some women. I'm definitely going to quiz my Dr a bit more about it on next visit. It seems he's given up on the drug route really quickly. But I also try and trust his judgement as someone who will have seen thousand of similar cases. It's so hard to know what to do.

Fig sorry to hear your first scan wasn't very promising either. I had the opposite problem of really thin lining and really small follicles. Between us we would be ideal :D That was your first second round too was it?

doom good luck with your OPKs - keep us posted!

sorry if i've missed anyone. I will try and be better at keeping up with messages. I'm bad in that I tend to keep things to myself too much, but talking with you guys really does help.

accidentalgrownup · 15/11/2016 11:14

Well that's me out this month...AF arrived last night so here goes round 2 :(
All you ladies seem to be having scans whilst taking clomid? I had tracking before but then my consultant has just given me a 6 month prescription & left us to get on with it. Should I be asking for checks?

Footy1 · 15/11/2016 11:34

Accident, sorry that AF arrived. FlowersMine should be here in full swing by tomorrow.
I haven't been offered any scans whilst on clomid either. I had a scan before I started clomid and that's it. I have terrible ovulation pains so hope it's nothing bad going on. I too was just given 6 months. Only 2 months left. Got appt today at hosp with gynae so will see what he says.

spotting this morning so Notethisterone working to induce AF. At least I can start another cycle soon.

Boggle, drilling doesn't sound good.

Doom, my first cycle I was expecting to ov around cd14, but I got twinges about cd3 that got more intense and ovulated on cd8! It can happen earlier (especially if you haven't ovulated in awhile?, can't remember if u had) but just to warn u.

Fig-I too wish hadn't started clomid as so far it's messed my cycles up and the s/e are horrible for me.

Congrats to all the BFP ladies on this thread, only read it all last night so didn't realise. X SmileFlowers

doomkittycleo · 15/11/2016 12:13

Footy I don't normally ovulate on my own so will have to try and BD earlier.

I'm scared of missing it now cus I heard clomid can give a false positive 😕 On the opk

doomkittycleo · 15/11/2016 18:15

The moodiness has kicked in. I feel really restless and have been having ovulation pains (I'm only cd5 Confused). Feel like I don't want to be around anyone in case I say something I'll regret.

Figroller · 15/11/2016 18:59

Sorry for being so miserable yesterday, I've cheered up a bit now!

I will only get scans until they confirm ovulation then I will just be given a prescription for 6 months. They did say this monitoring had only just been introduced on the nhs in my area for free.

This is my third round cat, not sure what will happen if I don't ovulate as I am on the maximum dose. When's your next appointment?

Sorry AF arrived accident let's hope this cycle is more successful for you.

Hope the side effects are a good sign doom and you are growing some nice big follicles.

My next scan is Thursday, not holding out much hope but you never know!

Footy1 · 15/11/2016 20:02

Fig, what dose are u on again? Fingers crossed for your scan.

Doom,I'm particularly moody since taking the AF pills. Clomid def makes me miserable. Hope you don't get yourself down Flowers

Saw the gynae today and they will only give me another 2 cycles (but has to be prescribed by gp as it will be unlicensed as suppose to be limit of 6 months)?! Basically said that they can't do much else unless I go down Ivf route (which we cannot afford).
They wouldn't up my dose as he said I'm on the max, but I'm only on 100mg, thought it went up to 200mg?
All tests are normal he just put it down to irregular cycles. Feeling fed up too, and AF pains. Spotting still but not full flow yet.
Got to take noristhisterone after 34days if no ovulation and no BFP every cycle.
They don't think the cp last cycle will have any effect on any further ovulation so
just got to wait see what happens.

Figroller · 15/11/2016 21:30

I'm on 150 mg footy. I thought that was the max dose, didn't realise you could take upto 200 mg.

I'm the same as you, if the clomid doesn't work that's it for us. We can't afford ivf and the consultant basically advised against it due to the cost and heartache it entails. We have an 11 year old dd and he said we need to weigh up the effects on us as a family against the chance of success.

Sorry to hear you are suffering quite strong side effects. Hope your AF shows up in full flow soon so you can get going with your next cycle.

doomkittycleo · 16/11/2016 07:05

After all of the ovulation pains yesterday my temperature appears to have spiked already Shock CD6.

Tried to initiate BD with DP last night, but he didn't take me on. I really hope it's just cus I'm a bit warm and not that I have ovulated already. I'm normally a late ovulator Sad.
