The mind numbing boredom of infertility IV

PotatoesPastaAndBread · 20/09/2016 21:24

Yes it's the return of the thread where we're so fucking bored of being infertile and talking about infertility and thinking about infertility and worrying and infertility and learning about infertility treatment and explaining infertility to other people and making up lies to cover up for going for infertility tests and treatment that we can't even be bothered to think of a better name for the thread.

Join us if you are barren, bored and bitter, or any combination of the above. We'll listen to your tails of woe when everyone you've ever met upduffs in an instant, accompany you through the trials of tests and treatment and commiserate the inevitable setbacks and disappointments.

Welcome to the ghetto.

When I can work out links, I'll post linnks to threads 1, 2 and 3

That's really helpful, Blondes. Thank you. I probably will pick your brains when the time comes. Got to get the all-clear on the possible melanoma first - its right on the ball of my foot so I can't walk at the moment! If I have to have more removed I'll have to be up and good to travel before I can get the ball rolling.

I really like the look of Serum in Athens, but I imagine the process is roughly the same wherever we go. I'll be in touch soon, no doubt! Xx

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/01/2017 15:13

Pick away. Glad my knowledge has been helpful

Hope foot turns out to be ok 💐

closephine85 · 27/01/2017 17:24

I'll report back on Athens MrFuzzy :) I've been very impressed so far. They are much more approachable than the London clinics is previously been in touch with.

I've taken to my bed, all the traipsing about this morning has completely done me in and I think I'm actually verging on flu now :( has anyone had to take predisolone as part of their treatment? It's on my protocol but the dr I saw this morning, suggested that because I'm ill, it's not a good idea to take it as it would lower my immune system and potentially make me worse, serum however said it would be fine... I'm a bit conflicted as to what is best?!

MrFuzzyGreen · 27/01/2017 23:51

Not sure about your meds Closephine, sorry. Hope you're feeling better very soon - this can't be helping your stress Sad xx

Hi all. Quick question about this ivf abroad malarkey. I've been using Care in Manchester for my rounds so far. I phoned today with my official BFN (no surprises there!) and enquire about whether I can continue to use them for scans while having a donor cycle abroad. I understand that I'll need to have the usual dildocam a few times to check that my lining is adequate before I fly out for transfer. Anyway, they said that they used to provide that service but they don't anymore. Annoying. Does anyone know of any clinics in the midlands or north that are conducive to working with European clinics?

MrFuzzyGreen · 31/01/2017 20:39

Also meant to ask - how's it going Closephine?

tigerdog · 31/01/2017 21:09

fuzzy - Cherish in Sutton Coldfield near Birmingham are fantastic - all scanning and tests, open 7 days a week and run by the most fantastic nurses who retired from the NHS and set up a service that tapped into the needs that werent met elsewhere. Couldn't recommend them more highly. I have only had viability scans, HCG tests and intralipids there but they do link with a host of clinics abroad.

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/01/2017 21:41

TBH any clinic that does dildo 😉 scans should happily email clinic abroad for you

MrFuzzyGreen · 31/01/2017 21:50

Thanks Tiger - that's good to know. When my foot's sorted and I can get the ball rolling I'll give them a call. We're in Staffordshire so it's not too far away.

Blondes - that's what I thought! But Care have decided they'll only do it for treatment patients, not when treatment is being provided elsewhere. Sounds like greed to me, but there it is.

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/01/2017 22:32

Hmmmmm yes I have my doubts about care ...... money money money

They were the clinic I used for 2uk cycles

And lost faith in them and went abroad

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/01/2017 22:33

I literally googled scans and early preg /linings etc and found 5 near me

If you have a local fb page ask on there who they recommend

MrFuzzyGreen · 31/01/2017 22:59

Just looked up Cherish. Brilliant. A lot cheaper than Care would have been, and they have a working partnership with Serum for U.K. couples. Sold. Good work Tiger CakeGin

bananafish81 · 31/01/2017 23:21

I don't know of anyone doing IVF abroad who's had monitoring at a fertility clinic

I'm on a serum FB group and a few FF threads with women at reprofit and other clinics, and everyone gets their monitoring done at an ultrasound clinic and emails the report to their treating clinic

You don't need a fertility clinic to do the scan, just a sonographer who can write a report

I'm with an independent consultant with CARE London and they have been superlative. My embryos are frozen at CARE and their genetics programme is probably the best in London - I've been distinctly unimpressed with the practices at clinics like Lister and CRGH.

However for a cycle abroad there's no need to be with a full clinic -you're already with a clinic so don't need another one :)

bananafish81 · 31/01/2017 23:24

Cross post!

Got my repeat smear back and there were NO abnormal cells in the sample! Waiting for the MDT to feed back on that and the results of the cervical biopsy, my bloods and previous histology, but really hoping we can just write this off as a scare

Hopefully coil will come out in 2 weeks then we start a mock FET. Doing the ERA biopsy and hoping we can get my lining to grow without the IUD. Then when we actually do the real thing that's gonna be our last go before we accept I can't carry. No pressure!

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/02/2017 00:06

Fab no cancerous cells banana and roll on era. Hope it shows good results as mine did and you can try a fet with a clear heart x

tigerdog · 02/02/2017 11:04

Ah that's great that Cherish is linked to Serum too fuzzy. They are so lovely, you'll feel well supported by them I'm sure.

banana, so glad that things are looking up and moving on. I'm crossing everything for you that this will work.

MrFuzzyGreen · 02/02/2017 12:12

Yes, thanks Tiger, it's really put my mind at rest. I love it when a plan comes together!

Banana - excellent news! Star

So, I'm still waiting for the biopsy results. Getting more anxious by the day. Now we've got a ttc plan in place, we're so impatient to get going. Just want to know now how many months it might be held back by my fucking foot! Of course I'm also reading all the horror stories of biopsies coming back as stage 4 terminal cancer, so the other night I fell into a black hole and started to make a will! Got my shit back together now though. The gloves are off, sleeves rolled up, ready to punch the next thing that gets in our way of our future child Angry

Blueroses99 · 02/02/2017 12:39

Love the fighting talk Fuzzy, I'm sorry you for a BFN. Good luck with the biopsy results.

Great news Banana, hoping this all works for you.

Closephine how's it all been going with your cycle?

Hi to everyone else! xx

flirtygertiefromnumber30 · 02/02/2017 12:47

Hi everyone, was hoping I could join here since I too am bored rigid with infertility!

A bit of background: I'm 31, TTC 2 years (tried Clomid and Menopur which did nothing), 'unexplained infertility' Angry. About to start private IVF in a few months (after the 3 month prep period).

Like a previous poster I also have struggled with health anxiety and am not relishing the idea of IVF!

Sending lots of Cake and Flowers to all!

beanhunter · 02/02/2017 14:41

Good clinic knowledge tiger! Speaking of which did you make a decision?

Hugs to closephine - sounds miserable

Fuzzy - sorry to hear that your cycle didn't work out. Glad you feel positive about the next steps.

Banana - amazing new. So so pleased for you.

Welcome to the newbies. Sorry you find yourselves here. The folks are a pretty kick ass bunch though.

Afm counting the days to my op (13) and getting progressively more stressed about what they might find. Worried that it's going to show an insurmountable problem. Am catastrophising which I do amazingly but now heading to almost 3 years TTC this time with one mc and 2 failed Ivf cycles to show for it. Hard not to feel down about it. We are amazingly lucky to have a little girl who also took some time and medical intervention to conceive but this is now even longer down th line and one of the problems then was lack of ovulating. That's now seemingly fixed but still no joy.

tigerdog · 03/02/2017 17:49

I was impressed by the consultant at Care bean - Dr Eapen. Really nice and thorough. He used to be clinical lead at MFS. My acupuncture lady says he has had glowing feedback from all her patients that have been treated by him elsewhere. I would definitely use them. Their new clinic will be open in March and egg collections taking place by May.

Fingers crossed for your biopsy results fuzzy.

Welcome flirty!

Joeypotter1 · 03/02/2017 17:50

After years of trying and numerous appointments, I am finally starting my first cycle. The baseline scan was okay and I have a good womb lining. I'm now bracing myself for my first injection tonight and then we'll see what happens.

I'm so sorry Fuzzy that this cycle didn't work. It will happen for you.
Welcome to the group Flirtygertie.

MrFuzzyGreen · 03/02/2017 18:22

Good luck Joey. The jabs are fine. The needles are so tiny you can hardly see them. I didn't bruise or find them painful at all. The post transfer Clexane was a different story.... ouch! But by then nightly jabs are a way of life! All a small price to pay for a sticky baby.

closephine85 · 03/02/2017 19:20

Hi all

Been quietly stabbing away over here whilst trying to get over the flu (which FINALLY I think I may have done).

Good luck Joey - once you get into the swing of it the injections are fine. The first evening was by far the hardest.

Welcome Flirty - I am the fellow health anxiety sufferer. In a weird way, going through all of this has made me confront some of my fears head on.

MrFuzzy - everything crossed for good results for you.

Banana - great news. And good luck for your mock cycle.

beanhunter · 03/02/2017 21:59

Thanks bean. I think that might work for us then as probably not ready flr treatmebt until may/June after surgery and looking for new houses. Will need to see what the surgery shows.
Who do you see for acupuncture? Wondering if it's the lady I used to see.
