Ivf first time

Hi, im just starting my jabs for my first ivf attempt. I wondered if anyone is in the same position as me or have any advice?

Haha same here. It is handy having a few extra inches. But some sensitive areas.
I had a scan today and seen about 16 follies so far. 4 were 12cm a few 10cm and lots of smaller ones. But my left ovary was high so couldnt see it all that much.
They have upped my dose too from 225 menoour to 300. But nurse also i was as expected at this stage (day 8 of stims) so not sure if it was good or bad as upped the dose?

Mm i mean not cm lol

Hi is 300 the maximum amount? Sounds like it's going well and the harvest will be coming in soon! I have scan tomorrow to check how stimming is going. I am really dreading egg collection; they offer sedation but not general anaesthetic at my clinic though it is a short procedure I suppose. Anyway, getting ahead of myself got to grow some eggs first! Take care.

Don't worry about sedation Sara, I was totally out for the count during both my collections and 2 cyst aspirations. I woke up feeling a little groggy but it soon wore off and I was ready to go home in a couple of hours x

Good luck with scan today Sara. I got one this morning too..not sure what the max is. I been up since 3am.being sick so feeling awful and exhausted. Think my tea didnt agree with me :(
Im nervous about egg collection too

Got another scan friday. Few big follicles but a few smaller ones they want them to catch up so they have more to collect. Gona check with doc too if they want to up my dose and call me..collecting rest of the drugs today tho. The cyclogest etc. So i imagine egg collection will b next week

I been up since 3 feeling sick but she says as they grow that will happen

Cats whiskers- sorry to hear you're feeling rough, hopefully it will be due to all the activity and won't last much longer. I had scan today and have 13 Folly's on one side and 5 on the other. Like you they upped my dose from 225 to 300. Haven't had any side effects yet but reckon as they grow will feel super bloated - the joys!
Sweetheartyparty - thank you I have been fretting about EC so reassuring to hear you found sedation enough.
Spinduffy- how are you getting on?
Took cat to vet today, vet asked if I needed to be shown how to use a syringe for his meds ... I wanted to say I've had over 30 injections recently I think I've got that!

Everyone is moving forward pretty well on here!

I will be having sedation for egg collection, so it's great to hear that it is adequate.

I'm on day 9 of downregulating and still no AF, so getting a bit frustrated! X

Duffy- my AF came on day 15 i think but hopefully yours wont be as long.

Sara- haha i bet u did. Hope you cat gets better soon. I have 2 myself x sounds liken you have lots of follies :)I hope it goes smoothly and not too many side effects

Been there 6 IVF times and got twin girls. My advice. Take one step at a time, and be kind to yourself. Good luck to all those cycling

I'm 36 and I'm waiting to start my stimming meds in early September. They've given me a contraceptive pill in the meantime (is this the down - regging?)

I've had 3 IUIs already. The last one was successful but I miscarried at 11 weeks.

We've been ttc for 10 years. I was pretty excited about the IUIs but after so much disappointment I really don't feel anything at them moment.

Welcome findingmyfeet - you've been through so much no wonder you feel as you do. Lots of lovely ladies on here and also you might look at 'the mind numbing boredom of infertility' thread which is hugely supportive and informative: there is nothing those women don't know about this process. I'm not sure about the pill you have; I had injections. All the best to you.
Duffy - my period was three days late then went on for two weeks - fingers crossed for you.
I am feeling really bloated and stomach is sticking out more than usual. Another scan in morning god knows what's occurring down there.

History of very early miscarriages. Had a hysterosopy last month and they found a polyp. It was removed and I had a scratch at the same time. I've blocked and scarred tubes so IVF is our only option. Told that early miscarriages were ectopics and each one added to the scar tissue.

Anyway I expect AF to show at the end of next week. EEEK!

Can I join too? I'm 36 and due to start long protocol donor ICSI on 30th Aug. I have DS 10 but unexplained secondary fertility. Trying to chill out on hols at the moment but back to work Monday is looming and get married in March, feel I might have bitten off more than I can chew.

Sara - Good luck for your scan. How many days stims are u on?

Findingmyfeet- You have been through so much. I hope the IVF works out for you..i had 2 iui's.but no luck at all. This is my first ivf cycle..im.not sure about the pill as i too am on injections for down regging

Underpants- I hope AF turns up on time and you can get started :)
Sorry to hear about all the miscarrages :(
Some ladies have it so easy and have a baby one after another and others like us its not so simple x

Astrid -I had a holiday before it all started..it did help. And a weddig in March? Thats great and will keep you busy

Hi catswhiskers - I'm on day 8 of stims. Had scan today a.m and they reckon EC on wed ... I was a bit taken aback as on wed there were lots of folly's but quite small, the nurse said things can move on quite rapidly.. Reckon you will be next week too. I think 300 a day is quite a high dose but I still feel fine with bit of aching round ovaries. Strange thing this morning was how big the usually painless needle felt think I'm getting sensitive. Do you still feel nauseous?
Welcome underpants - I had hysteroscopy in Feb and they said it makes you more fertile after so sounds positive for you. Hopefully bypassing your tubes will be the difference you need. And at least you know you can get pregnant which suggests fertilisation shouldn't be an issue. Fingers crossed for AF at the weekend. Such a treat!
Welcome Astrid - I think its good to have different things to focus on and you have 7 months to go for wedding. That said you might have to be flexible on the dress front!

We are both at the same stage Sara which is great x

AF showed up today so have scan and bloods on Monday and hopefully I can start stims on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Hi Ladies
Egg collection went well. I was abit nervous when i got to the clinic.
Got 17 eggs :) waiting for phone call tomorrow to see how many have fertilised. I was awake on and off throughout. It wasnt so bad, bit sore now but its ok x

How did your scan go Duffy? X

17... That's amazing! Was it painful when you woke up? That sounds a little frightening!

Scan went well- I start merional tomorrow morning... Yikes, I'm a wuss with needles!!! X

That's great Duffy. Needes are not nice at all but doing it daily i bet you will.get used to it x
It Wasnt painful right away but felt abit sore as the meds wore off..Like period pain..still a little tender now but not so bad that i need paracetamol. Apparently i talked half way through it but i cant remember lol
The waiting to be called was the worst part x
