WANTED- cycle buddies who are ttc#1 and planning a FET in April/May

RoseBud2016 · 09/03/2016 17:49

I'm in need of some buddies! Smile

A long story short is that I have been ttc#1 for 19 months now. I have severe PCOS and don't ov or cycle naturally.
Last year I was told that DH and I would only have a chance of conceiving through IVF, after numerous other fertility treatments failed.

In February this year we had our first ISCI IVF cycle at Reprofit in the Czech Republic (DH has 2 DDs so we are not eligible for treatment on the NHS) We got 12 eggs, 8 fertilised and 6 made it to blasts! We had one transferred and fell pregnant! But at 4+4 blood tests confirmed that the pregnancy wasn't viable and at 5 weeks we had a very early mc (I hate the phrase CP as I think it trivialises it)

The last few weeks have been such a struggle physically and mentally but we are keen to try again so are planning another trip to Reprofit to be reunited with one of our Frosties! Smile

Scared and excited in equal measures and would love some buddies to share in this new and unknown part of the 'journey' with. X

Rose do not feel that you have to go. We have all been through this journey together good and bad. I'm desperately hoping that next week has some good news for you. Love to you and your dh.

Congratulations Grumpel. Fantastic news. Roll on the next 2 weeks for you.

Stealth can't believe you saw his little willy! Must have been an amazing experience.

Vixxfacee · 29/06/2016 20:48

What is the PAP A score?
Did they mention the likelihood of the placenta moving?

stealthbanana · 29/06/2016 21:20

PAPP A is some weird protein that they don't really understand what it does but if you have low PAPP A + high fsh it can be a marker for downs which is the primary reason they test for it. Obvs that is not relevant to me but it can also signal some of these other issues I mentioned. Am not really sure how reliable it is - the scanner didn't seem worried and said the scan was the primary diagnostic tool and stealthini was measuring bang on so no need to worry. We shall see! Am sure my consultant will ring if there's an issue.

stealthbanana · 29/06/2016 21:21

And didn't mention likelihood of placenta.

The placenta itself doesn't actually move, but the womb grows so much that the placenta can end up being moved away from the cervix because of the expansion. But it's not suddenly going to migrate to the top!

stealthbanana · 01/07/2016 20:25

Hi guys - just popping on to have a moan. I had MORE bad news today - I tested positive to being a carrier of cystic fibrosis. So now DH has to do the test and if he's also a carrier then our child has a 1 in 4 chance of having it. When does all this end? Sad

rose am thinking of you Flowers Hope you're holding up ok.

Vixxfacee · 01/07/2016 20:43

Will just copy what I wrote on the other thread.
Hi Stealth, I'm so sorry for the new test results. It is so shit. It just seems like mountain after mountain for you to climb.
Does the PGS testing test for CF? Please try and hold on that stealthini has been strong from the start. But I know how worrying and anxious all this is. flowers

stealthbanana · 01/07/2016 20:55

Sorry vixx I didn't see the other thread response!
I didn't do PGD for cf as I didn't think we needed it. I have thought about it, as I do have a distant branch of my family that has CF. But I didn't :( PGS doesn't check for specific gene mutations like PGD, it just checks chromosome pairs. gah!

Vixxfacee · 01/07/2016 21:06

It is so shit. You have been unlucky with the 1 in 25 but the odds of your dh being 1 in 25 too is low. There are lots of ifs! But I understand your anxiety especially with your news about your score and placenta. Your luck has to pick up!

stealthbanana · 01/07/2016 22:19

Thanks vixx. It just feels like I can't catch a break. It just seems so unlikely I'll actually get a live baby out of all this when so much keeps going wrong Sad

Vixxfacee · 01/07/2016 22:41

The main thing is you have seen the baby bouncing around on the scan and he's healthy! Focus on the facts at the moment rather than the what ifs. You are 14 weeks tomorrow and he is strong and healthy.
Please don't torture yourself until you have more facts. Which I know is difficult and I'd be the same!

RoseBud2016 · 02/07/2016 08:14

Stealth So sorry to here about your most recent results. How long will it take DHs results to come back? I'm assuming that if his come back all fine then this significantly decreases the chances of CF; but obviously there is still a possibility so you are still going to be very worried. I really feel for you- it really does never end.

I'm "celebrating" my birthday this weekend. I'm in no mood to celebrate but DH convinced me not to cancel our arrangements with friends and so far I'm glad that we didn't cancel. It's taken my mind off things a little. And all I would be doing otherwise, is being miserable at home.

Happy birthday rose! What terrible timing. But nice to have friends around you and remind yourself of nice things in life. Hope DH spoils you rotten & you have a happy day.

If DH doesn't have the gene then there is zero chance the baby will be affected - if you're a carrier it means one of the pair of genes that expresses CF is faulty, the other one is normal (thus you don't have CF). So stealthini would need to inherit the faulty copy from both me AND DH to actually have cystic fibrosis (if he inherits one faulty gene from either me OR DH he will just be a carrier which is fine). So that's good - it's very binary, it's about gene inheritance. If DH does have the faulty gene there's a 1 in 4 chance both of us pass it on to stealthini, so I think we'd have a cvs or amnio to test for that. Just more stress.

stealthbanana · 02/07/2016 08:31

Results take 1-2 weeks to come back. Gah!

Grumpelstiltskin · 02/07/2016 09:57

Urgh stealth sorry to hear about the latest instalment of worry, there really is always something! Can't believe what a time you've had of it. Keeping fingers crossed that your DH's results are negative but until then, good advice from Vixx on trying to focus on the positives of seeing a healthy stealthini on screen. Also hope your PAPP A turns out to be a non-issue. Sometimes I think having all the tests and information is very much a double-edged sword. Must be nice to sail through pregnancy merely thinking about nursery furniture and buggies!

Happy birthday, rose! It seems we're birthday buddies too as mine is on Wed. Glad to hear you're finding celebrations a bit of a distraction, and I hope being surrounded by those you love is a comfort. Also presents: presents are good. Thinking of you lots and hope you're as OK as possible.

at Vixx- how's the sickness at the mo?

Vixxfacee · 02/07/2016 10:04

Happy birthday Rose, how are you bearing up?
I really hope you can relax a bit and be around those you love and who love you.

How are you grumpEl?

Sickness still awful. Been signed off for another 2 weeks and medication has been changed which is turning me into a zombie!

stealthbanana · 03/07/2016 13:25

You poor thing vixx. Fantastic that you can be signed off. Rest up.

Thanks grumpel. Yes to these tests. I'm really not sure whether it's best to know or not know. Feeling a bit better about it now but am just so sick of having things to worry about!

rose hope the birthday celebrations have been fun and lightened the load a bit for you this weekend

stealthbanana · 06/07/2016 17:23

rose just to say that I'm thinking of you and really hoping for good news from your scan tomorrow Flowers

RoseBud2016 · 07/07/2016 15:58

Thanks for thinking of me.

We have just come out. There is no change since last week so they have confirmed it is an MC, and we are booked in for an ERPC tomorrow from 12 noon.
It's hit me pretty hard today- all the talk of surgery has made me feel really sad. I know it's the right choice for me but it's just that the last procedure we had I was filled with hope for our EC and now I'm just filled with negativity.
Sad

It just sucks.

Oh god I'm so so sorry. That just sucks. No words, really. Masses of hugs and love xxxx

Grumpelstiltskin · 07/07/2016 18:53

Have been thinking of you today rose and I'm so sad to hear your update. It's totally, totally shit. It's cold comfort but I hope tomorrow goes as smoothly as possible for you. Let yourself feel everything you need to. We're all here if you need to vent or chat. Xxx

Vixxfacee · 07/07/2016 19:17

So sorry Rose. There are no words to say but hear for you xxx

Vixxfacee · 07/07/2016 19:30

Here*

stealthbanana · 08/07/2016 09:36

Very best wishes for today rose, I hope the erpc goes as well as can be hoped for given the horrible circumstances. Thinking of you Flowers

RoseBud2016 · 08/07/2016 18:45

Well I'm back home and resting up on the sofa in front of the TV.
Everyone was just so good- very empathetic and doing everything they could to make us feel less anxious and more comfortable. We feel very lucky to have such a great NHS trust near us..... I know many people have very different experiences.

I'm feeling quite uncomfortable in my abdomen and obviously feel very sad, but I'm relieved it's done and now hopefully we can start to focus on healing physically and emotionally.

We go on holiday next wk to Italy (one of our favourite countries) and the consultant has given us the green light to go so we are really pleased about that- quality time together with gorgeous scenery and weather is what are are crying out for ( literally!).

Once again I just want to say thank you to the 3 of you for all of your support and love- it means a lot. Flowers

I hope you are all doing well and your babies are growing big and strong- one day I really do hope we can join you.

Vixx Your next scan must be coming up soon now, right? How are you feeling?

Stealth Fingers tightly crossed for your DHs test results. You must be due them quite soon now?

Grumpel You are what I am now aiming for- IVF pregnancy not too long after ERPC. Do you mind me asking did you do anything in particular in between ERPC and your nxt IVF cycle? Any tests, procedures, or investigations?
When is your next scan? Xxx

Grumpelstiltskin · 08/07/2016 19:31

So glad it went well rose and you're feeling ok. To be honest my advice would just be to listen to your body.

I felt fine after ERPC, just a bit achy for a couple of days and the bleeding went to minimal brown spotting almost immediately, and lasted about 10-12 days. So I went back to my usual routine- gym, work, and also a holiday- quite soon, which helped my state of mind in being busy. I had no investigations, it was just deemed a not strong enough emby really. I waited two cycles before starting FET, sure you remember me whinging about being bored by all the waiting! But it reassured me in having a normal couple of periods that I was fully recovered, and clinic scanned me to check all was looking good before we cracked on. Mostly spent the time getting thyroid up to par- down to 1.09 now, hooray!

The EPU said there was no harm in trying again straight away (but bless them they meant usual TTC, eminently pointless here!)- I would imagine your clinic would suggest at least one natural cycle before more treatment, as mine did.

Hope that your holiday gives you both some space and time to process everything, and you also have a lovely time together. We're in Portugal at the mo and the sunshine is just the tonic.

Take care of yourself and I hope you have a lucky little frostie next time xxx
