Our thread was originally started by Rumples who now has her bfp, as have a few other ladies along the way. Here's hoping the next thread holds a few more bfps!

Just got the blood results. beta of 16 so very very low! As to be expected though considering I bled.

After 3 failed ivfs I'm happy to have at least had a chemical pregnancy because I was pregnant and can now work at staying pregnant! It stuck which I've never had before so here's to positivity x

Verkey81 · 12/02/2015 16:16

Phoenix I also can't tell with the first one, but can see a second line on the FRER :) Are you sure it's ectopic? :( If there's a chance, you need to get straight in for a scan, my doctors told me I have a high chance of ectopic so I should have a scan at 4 weeks if got a positive result, an to go straight to A&E for a scan if I was bleeding or any other symptoms - don't mean to worry you - but surely they should be whipping you in for a scan if they actually thought it might be ectopic? I forgot about that until now, so I'll ring the clinic tomorrow and remind them of that! Sorry I've just seen you did a Digi today - it may be it's just not high enough yet, or not strong enough/concentrated wee making a false negative?

mini That's great you got a faint line, its not likely you're producing much hcg at this stage so hold out hope :)

Verkey81 · 12/02/2015 16:22

I feel a bit bad posting this now, but I went and did a digi test, thought I'd see, made sure it was a concentrated wee (!) and guess what...

9dp5dt (or 10dp5dt if you include et as day one!?)

Even though official test day is tomorrow, I'm taking that as my BFP :)

Verkey81 · 12/02/2015 18:00

phoenix does that mean it's definitely a chemical pregnancy or could it be late implantation and still to increase?

PhoenixFire7 · 12/02/2015 21:29

Verkey Congratulations! I am very very jealous but also very pleased for you!

They are pretty sure its chemical and are only repeating the test on monday to make sure its not ectopic. Its a bit annoying because I'd planned to go for a cocktail tomorrow with the bestie! We're treating it as a chemical so going to do it anyway. We can't stay on this roller-coaster any longer.I think 16 is a tad too low to multiply enough.

Verkey81 · 12/02/2015 21:45

I don't know much about the numbers and what's good or not, but surely they'll check for sure? I'm so sorry to hear that if that is the case :(

PhoenixFire7 · 12/02/2015 22:07

They would want it to be more towards 100 at this stage, definitely over 50, just to give you an idea.

Thank you for your kind words, it ok though. I'm taking positivity from it rather than being down. What is sulking going to fix? Smile

Verkey81 · 12/02/2015 22:27

Very true, I'm glad you're being positive :) like you said, if this is the first BFP, it can happen - did you have progesterone tests? I read someone elses post about that, and that not everyone absorbs the progesterone properly etc so may need more than prescribed? I thought that was quite interesting as I didn't realise that

PhoenixFire7 · 12/02/2015 22:33

Its funny you should say that. I've been talking to the clinic in Greece and they said my spotting and premature period indicates that my progesterone drops 3 days before, causing me to bleed! They recommended injectable progesterone and for my levels to be monitored.

Funny how a clinic that I haven't even been to yet can see that yet the clinic I've been to for four cycles haven't even bothered to think into why this is happening every time! I'm glad we're finished with them now if I'm honest. Serum in Athens sound fantastic already and thats from 1 email!

Verkey81 · 12/02/2015 22:40

:) :) I read up about them after seeing you mention them the other day, they look very thorough, I was very impressed! It just sounded a bit to me like something is happening earlier than it should for you, and the only thing I've read about in that case is a progesterone drop, I guess in my head I was thinking that because its not a natural cycle, if progesterone is the thing which helps maintain the cycle, if you get a chemical pregnancy but not sustained, then surely there's a progesterone problem/drop - but I'm not a doctor, it just sort of made sense to me! I can't believe they haven't monitored you for it in 4 cycles. I read a news article the other day about a girl who kept losing hers and she did some research and ordered crinone for herself against her doctors wishes and she now has a child. Also I saw other people saying their levels were monitored and some people are on double the dose I am on, and it made me think my clinic haven't checked my progesterone is absorbing :( I feel like they're all missing a trick here?!

How long before you can start again at Serum?

PhoenixFire7 · 12/02/2015 23:01

Well i don't think you need to worry about your progesterone! Exciting!! If you think about it though, although mine didn't end well, all 4 of us got bfps from this cycle! That's blasting statistics out of the water hehe.

I'm hoping its as simple as a progesterone drop because it is easily fixed! Good on that girl who stood her ground and used crinone! On my last cycle we tried to fight for gestone (injectables) but the NHS wouldn't fund it and wouldn't let us pay ourselves! When I get my bfp for whatever reason, I will be complaining to the NHS like an old bag at a bus stop!

We could start in April/May but we want to take a whole month off over there. DP works in a school so can only have July/August off. Unfortunately the clinic closes for August so July it is. I will probably go over there for tests before though. They have listed what they want to do already and the prices are very very good!

We also have a consultation at The Lister Fertility Clinic in London in March too just to get another opinion. Its funny, The Lister charge £205 for a consultation plus more for and scans etc. Serum don't charge for the first consultation or initial scan. Shows its a money maker in some places!

minibmw2010 · 12/02/2015 23:04

Verkey81, lovely news for you. Phoenix, thinking of you. I think I'm in the same boat. Very heavy bleeding now. I'm on injectable Gestone instead of crinnone at my request as I was worried the crinnone wasn't absorbing. There was no suggestion of monitoring me but they allowed me to change to the injections on ET day. I'm only 7dpo5dt tomorrow and it's about the same time as it ended for us last time Confused. Now I'll wonder if it's my fault for switching drugs.

PhoenixFire7 · 12/02/2015 23:13

Oh no minibmw I'm sorry. Have you tested again? maybe test with your FMU? Its worth speaking to your clinic for the same reason as me, the fear of ectopic. You are around the same timing as me too, I was 10dp3dt. You would be 9dp3dt transfer (had you transferred on day 3 that is).

Are you NHS or private? I really do think progesterone is something that should be monitored! It makes sense after a failed cycle! Grrr!

Smidge001 · 13/02/2015 00:37

mini you shouldn't blame yourself for switching drugs, particularly not when you moved to the injections - as I'm sure they're what they use if there is a problem absorbing prog, so it must be easier for the body to absorb it that way. So if anything, you've given your body the best chance. The trouble is progesterone simply can't sustain an embryo that doesn't want to implant/doesn't develop etc. awful as it is, there is nothing you can do about it.
Not sure if it helps anyone but my FC does a blood test the day before a 5dt, to check progesterone is rising and oestrogen falling. Mine have always come back good results and hence they do the transfer - BUT in both cases so far I still bleed while on the progesterone. They also do a blood test to confirm the BFN and again mentioned my progesterone is still very high at that point and will come down after I stop the pessaries. So I can conclude my prog levels were high the whole time, yet I still bleed while on it, and still can't get a baby to stick so far

lildottie · 13/02/2015 08:45

if oestrogen is supposed to fall why am I on oestrogen tablets?

OP posts:
Verkey81 · 13/02/2015 08:46

Thinking of you toes x

Verkey81 · 13/02/2015 08:47

Ooo fair point lildottie I'm not on anything to do with that, just the crinone now

minibmw2010 · 13/02/2015 08:56

Hello all, more very heavy bleeding here, however a much stronger + on a FR test so am I done or not? It's only been a week (not even) since my 2 were put back in after blastocyst so I'm completely lost now Confused

Verkey81 · 13/02/2015 09:09

I would rung the clinic mini and talk to them. Sorry to hear about the bleeding :(

ToesAndFingersCrossed · 13/02/2015 10:36

I'm back from my blood test. I still haven't peed on anything, and I'm regretting it hugely. I call them at 12:30 for results, so that's 1h 56mins to go....

Mini - I know a few people who have had heavy bleeding for weeks but still kept getting a positive test. One of them had a very healthy, wriggly 2 year old right now. I'd call your clinic and get them to do a scan ASAP to establish the cause of the bleeding.

gcerron · 13/02/2015 10:45

Thinking of you verkey and toes.
phoenix it's so interesting your comments about the Greek clinic, definitely that positive attitude and first bfp will help you to have your lovely baby in your next cycle!! Enjoy your cocktail for now Wine.
Sorry mini I hope your clinic can have a proper answer for the bleeding after a proper assessment, from all the comments I am afraid that most clinics don't evaluate the reason of the failure of the 1st cycle, so they repeat the same history again and again Hmm.
By the way I'm using cyclogest progesterone twice a day and clexane at nights. I got Bfp and I am waiting for my scan, fingers crossed things are fine.Smile

ToesAndFingersCrossed · 13/02/2015 10:57

I am on a lot less progesterone than you guys! Just the gel once a day in the morning. Hope that doesn't cause a bfn Confused

Shellster52 · 13/02/2015 11:36

Just wanted to say hi and I'm still here! Been keeping at bay for my own sanity trying to keep my mind occupied with other things til IVF 10 starts in March.

Phoenix, you are an amazing trooper, taking the positivity from this cycle that this is the furthest you've made it and it can happen. I post on another thread who is in the middle of donor cycle in Greece and her clinic also seems VERY thorough. Will be reading your posts with interest to learn what they do different so keep us posted!

lildottie, I've only used progesterone after EC for my previous IVF's, but I've been doing lots of research about taking estrogen tablets as well so I'm very interested to hear that you are taking them. Apparently, when they aspirate the eggs, they also remove some of the cells that are responsible for producing estrogen during the second half of the cycle. Some studies show it to produce significantly increased pregnancy rate, other studies don't and my Dr says it's up to me if I want to try it. So I have no idea. Would love to hear what you know about it. What dose did you take? Did you start the day after transfer? Do you still take them?

minibmw2010 · 13/02/2015 12:55

Hello all. Spent the morning with a friend who told me she bled for the first 6 weeks of her pregnancy and she now has a very healthy 3.5 year old, so that's reassuring (in an odd way). I don't think my clinic will do anything even if I call them. They didn't on our last attempt (last summer), they just said 'oh that's a shame but keep up your medicines and test on testing day and let us know'. Then it was a definite negative but I did a ClearBlue today and got this? We had two embryos put back and I wondered would one not taking cause the bleeding and one taking cause the positive test? Grasping at straws here, obviously .....

So the hospital got back to me... Looks like I'm nice and pregnant!!!! I can't actually believe it. My hCG was 152, I'm not sure what that means other than 50 is pregnant so she said it was a nice strong positive. Really don't know what to do with myself, just sitting here drinking a cup of decaf tea and trying not to cry.
