Our thread was originally started by Rumples who now has her bfp, as have a few other ladies along the way. Here's hoping the next thread holds a few more bfps!

my clinic phoned daily. even if I'd had day5 not day2 they would have done. and they told us grades when we spoke to embryologist minutes before transfer. not sure if that chat is normal as we had to decide 1vs2.

allchat sorry to hear about your dh and your bfn. I agree you should test anyway to be sure though. thinking of you. Thanks

Thx lil.
DH picking up superdrug one on way home. I'll either do it tonight or in the morning.
It's fucking annoying. Now I've decided to test though I'm feeling cramps and my nips have gone really sensitive. This is why I hate poas.

Verkey81 · 02/02/2015 16:29

I had to ask for it, when I first asked how they were getting on, she said she didn't know anything and then she asked me when my last update was, when I told her I had only spoken to the embryologist on the morning after egg collection and hadn't had an update, she said "oh, well I can tell you the day 3 update" but day 4 they don't check them, they leave them alone - hope that helps!

lildottie · 02/02/2015 20:07

wait for fmu allchat so you get a definite result

OP posts:
Smidge001 · 02/02/2015 21:04

Agree wait for fmu Allchat. Hope hubby is fighting fit again soon.

To add my clinic to the mix, I get called the day after EC with fertilisation numbers (in fact they will also give reasons for the ones that didn't work - eg egg not mature or 2 sperm got in). Then they don't look at them until day 3 so they give an update on cell division then. I was told they'd rather not look at them, but they have to change over the culture at day 3 into a different sort that suits the embryo at that stage, so they look while they're doing that. Then nothing until day 5 when we're already at the clinic. (very nerve wracking in case they didn't make it).

verkey and toes thanks for echoing the variability on scans. Should be my last scan tomorrow so I'm now wondering which of the two clinics to go to for it!

verkey the crinone gel is joyous isn't it! Grin. The good thing with it though is that it doesn't goo out all messily which I've heard the other progesterone pessaries can do. But the gunky white plasticy papier mâché really is yuck. Suspect once your other half has seen that he might be less worried about the 7 weeks of abstinence, ha ha!!

Tootsiepops · 03/02/2015 09:44

You ladies are all so far ahead of me - I'm quite envious!

I had my endo scratch yesterday. It hurt a bit and I had some bleeding, so I milked it for sympathy with the OH and ate cheesecake for dinner. A world away from our adopted usual high protein, low carb, organic diet, but there are some problems only sugar will fix.

I start suprefact nasal spray this morning (4x per day for the next three weeks). I tried to put the inhaler thing together last night and spilt most of the bottle over the cat. Good start.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Verkey81 · 03/02/2015 23:31

toots is suprefact the down regulation? I did buserelin injections so don't know much about anything else!

We went for day 5 transfer today, out of our 5 originals, 2 embryos arrested, 1 hasn't made it to blastocyst stage, 1 made it but doesn't look great quality and 1 was a "clear winner". I don't know how good that was, grades or anything but it's made it to blastocyst. I've got to ring tomorrow and see if they've progressed but she said not to be too disappointed if we have none to freeze (easier said than done! Sad ). So basically we had one and we're now "embryo on board" Grin Smile Grin! So like we always say, you only need one, bring on Friday the 13th, let's hope it's a lucky date for us!

Tootsiepops · 04/02/2015 01:58

Verkey - how exciting! I can't wait to get to ET and have embryo(s?) on board. Are you working through your tww? I've taken some time off and am a bit worried I'm going to end up bat shit crazy whilst I'm waiting for the test date.

I think Suprefact is a brand name for buserelin that's administered by nasal spray. To be honest, I'm still very confused by it all. Needle teach is on Tues, so I assume someone will explain what's going on then.

Until then, ignorance is bliss (I'm ignoring the big box of suppositories in amongst my pile of meds).

Shellster52 · 04/02/2015 06:51

Hello all. I've been a bit quiet as my next IVF cycle doesn't start til mid March and I'll go bat crazy if I spend every day in between on mumsnet, thinking about my imaginary baby and counting down the minutes til March.

So Friday the 13th Verkey! Can I ask, does your clinic not allow you to put two on board or did you just decide on one embryo yourselves? Just curious. Can understand your feeling disappointment if your other 2 don't make it to freeze. I too was upset even though I had two top notches on board. It feels nice to have a plan B in the freezer. Keep us posted.

Toots, seems like by the time you start up, I won't be too far behind you. Do you know when you start stimming? Nice to have a hand holder while we go through it.

gcerron · 04/02/2015 08:59

Good luck verkey!! That will be a fantastic celebration for valentine's!! Fingers crossed for everybody Flowers

PhoenixFire7 · 04/02/2015 11:20

Verkey I have a test date of Friday the 13th too, I'm undecided whether its a good thing or bad thing hehe. Welcome to the obsessing train! Choo! I was absolutely fine for the first 2 days and now I find myself thinking about it too much.

I'm thinking of you allchat. I'm hoping the lack of post is good news?

Just as a note on the 2 embies or 1 embie back, my clinic are quite strict on only putting 1 back too. The only reason we had 2 but back is because we've had 1 failed ivf and 2 frozen cycles failed.

Verkey Your post has made me a little nervous having a 3 day transfer. Theres no way of me know if our embabies have arrested in there or are still going as blastocyst stage would have been yesterday for us too. I hate all of this!

allchatnicknamesgone · 04/02/2015 11:39

Hello.
It was negative, but I knew it would be. I hated doing it but had big glass of wine afterwards.
DH went into hospital last night for biopsy today which was bit of a shock. We didn't think it would be for another week and definitely didn't think he'd have to stay the night.
To be honest I don't feel in the best place emotionally/mentally. I'm shitting myself about him and the future and finances. At the same time the hope of having a baby is getting smaller and smaller. He can't have sex this month, which as you all know not even giving it a go is excruciating. (might try AI). But what affect is this all going to have on his swimmers?
I just want a bit of good luck to come our way.
Sorry, I feel a bit selfish when I just come back on to post about myself. I don't mean to.
Hope everyone else ok and coping x

PhoenixFire7 · 04/02/2015 12:12

Im sorry allchat, I know all too well how you're feeling but don't give up. You just need to give yourself a bit of time, drink lots of wine and over indulge for a while. You'll build up the confidence to start again and find a way through all of the other stresses.

Thinking of you Flowers

Tootsiepops · 04/02/2015 15:00

Oh allchat - I'm sorry your OH is poorly. Sounds like your glass of wine was well deserved after everything you've had to cope with. Sometimes we need to indulge ourselves or we'd go crazy.

shellster - I take my last tablet on Saturday and then I'm waiting on CD1 coming around. Then in for a scan. Assuming all's ok I'll be straight on to stimms. I'm thinking maybe around 12 Feb depending on when my period starts. I am both excited and petrified!

ToesAndFingersCrossed · 04/02/2015 16:38

Oh allchat huge hugs to you. Have a lovely glass of wine and just tkae some time to yourself.

I have had one blast put back this morning, another made it to freezing and they are going to see about another two tomorrow. I'm a bit sad that out of 19 eggs only 2 have made it this far, but it's still a much better position than we've ever been on before! Test day, same as a lot of you, is Friday 13th. Eek.

Verkey81 · 04/02/2015 19:22

Aww that makes sense toots, I should have thought it's the same thing but just the nasal spray!

Good plan Shell, I'm completely in the obsession stage, best to keep busy and not spend too long on here like me!! The clinic has a one embryo policy if it's your first cycle and if you're under a certain age, so we had no choice. Maybe one of my other embies might have made it if they put two back, I just don't know :) I found out today that none of them have made it to freezing so our embie on board is our only chance, no plan B :( I also stupidly asked for the grading of the embie with me and that was a 3BB, doesn't sound good, but I don't know much about it, so shouldn't have asked!!

It'll be nice for you both to start together, I've found that really nice, having so many of us going through it at the same time! toes, Phoenix and me all have the same test date so we can obsess in the meantime together!! Eeek Mind you, as I had my 5 day blast put back in 2 days before you toes, maybe I can sneak an early test in on the 11th!??

Sorry Phoenix, I didn't mean to scare you, I think if they had put them back in on Wednesday they would have chosen the strongest one anyway so it would have probably been the same one anyway?

Oh allchat I'm so sorry to hear that, life is being very unfair to you at the moment. Really hoping things start to improve, its not selfish at all to post about your stuff, you spend a lot of time supporting others, let everyone else be supportive for you :)

gcerron · 04/02/2015 20:42

Allchat sorry for this difficult period, I hope everything vanish soon and you can have enough time to relax yourself and think in the next steps. Sometimes everything comes together but it is because after that good news are in their way!! Flowers all the best Wine xx

Blackandwhitecat3 · 04/02/2015 21:28

Hello everyone, I hope you don't mindme joiningyour post? It sounds like you are all dealing with a lot...

I'm 38 and we've been trying for just over a year, and are starting IVF. We're in Oxfordshire so no joy with funding >35. We have unexplained infertility. Hoping to start down-regging in March or April.

Has anyone bought their drugs privately? Also, everyone seems to be on strict diets, as don't know anything about that?

Feeling a bit scared about it all, and if it doesn't work.

lildottie · 04/02/2015 23:28

high black, high protein low GI is the suggested diet. I'm NHS funded but if this one doesn't work out we'd have to pay.

verkey my test date is 11th Smile

allchat its so unfair all the shit you're dealing with. feel free to vent away and let us support you, its what we're here for Thanks

had acupuncture today. mention my trapped wind issues caused by the pessaries. those needles did something cos I've been farting all afternoon! Grin I just hope they helped my embryos get stuck in too!

OP posts:
Verkey81 · 04/02/2015 23:56

Welcome black :)

lil I have bought a couple of early tests - is that really stupid!? NO, I don't need to ask that, I already know!! I know I can't take the results unless it's the official ones on the right dates, but not sure I can hold out!! LOL at your acupuncture!! Got mine tomorrow, on the gels though so I've got different issues! How are you feeling since ET? Any symptoms, strange feelings? I've got some twinges on my left side, think its the leftover drugs and my ovaries playing up?

Tootsiepops · 05/02/2015 07:38

Hi Black&white,

I bought my drugs from healthcare at home. I have no idea how expensive / cheap they are as we couldn't be arsed shopping around. I'm having my first round privately and then will have two rounds on the NHS if we're not successful.

I'm also on high protein, low carb diet. Absolutely nothing processed (although I have had occasional slip ups), apart from full fat dairy which apparently helps success rates. The general idea is to keep blood sugar stable and low.

It's fine, but very dull and I long for the days when I can eat bread again :)

ToesAndFingersCrossed · 05/02/2015 09:06

Hi Black&white,

Welcome! Healthy diet is key I think, there is a lot of love for avocados when it comes to ivf - I believe it is the monosaturated fats that are particularly good for you. Also pineapple is supposed to be good but I can't comment on that because I'm allergic!

gcerron · 05/02/2015 10:54

Sorry Toot why you cant eat bread now? is this something not prescribe when you have IVF? i am in my 2ww. I am eating bread, normally a couple of slices per day, some times small peace of ciabatta.!! Shock

ToesAndFingersCrossed · 05/02/2015 11:52

gcerron I think some people have a really low carb diet and other cut out gluten when having IVF. I've not done either and I got 2 top quality embryos so I think heathy is key, rather than specific things. But whatever work for you is important, I think being stressed about eating the wrong thing is much worse for the 2ww than just eating the wrong thing. I have just had a runny boiled egg because I was craving one like crazy and eventually decided that clearly my body needs it for some reason or other.

gcerron · 05/02/2015 14:51

Yes you are right Toes thank you. I must calm down. Finger crossed and things are going smoothly inside our bodies!! Wink
