Any on looking to start ivf/icsi in the new year?

Just wondering if anyone would like to keep me company and share the ivf/icsi journey. DH and I are both 35 years old and have been trying to conceive our first child for 10months. DH has lowish sperm motility and I have a low amh (7.24). We haven't had any luck so far and so the next step will be ivf with icsi in the new year. We are thinking of starting end of feb or march. Would be great to share the journey with others in similar situations and hopefully make some friends along the way Smile

Ah, my clinic abbreviate frozen-thawed embryo transfer that way, Badger. Seems unnecessarily pedantic now I think of it...

All set for ET with our other frozen blastocyst on Sunday.

Seconding Badger, Toes - this is my second FET and it is a lot easier than the stimulated cycles. For me in particular, the fact that I can keep my running going is a huge benefit in terms of stress management and general not-feeling-utterly-hopeless-ness of it all!

BadgerFace · 10/06/2015 15:47

Actually warrior thinking about it properly I think your clinic have it spot on as it's not a frozen embryo which is popped back in, is it! I've just never heard it called anything other than a FET. There's a new acronym to learn every day it seems...

Persipan · 25/06/2015 08:05

Well, with one day left of taking the Pill, I'm officially not overweight! Whoooooo!

BadgerFace · 25/06/2015 08:45

Well done Persipan, a fantastic achievement! Do you start down regging tomorrow or are you straight into Stimming?

kaz and toes I think you guys are starting soon too?

And how is my friend warrior?

Persipan · 25/06/2015 11:04

I'm short protocol, so my baseline scan is probably on Monday, and then all being well I'll start stimming straight away.

kazcal · 25/06/2015 12:05

Hi all, yes I should be starting this wkend. Finished taking the pill tues so when bleed arrives I start injecting on day 2 of that which should be sat/sun. Had scan yest to ensure no cysts on ovaries, all good to go. Smile Hope everyone feelin ok & things are going good?. x

Hello everyone, can I join you?
I did my first injection yesterday - hurrah! Cannot believe I managed it.
I'm 39 and was lucky enough to get pregnant easily first time round (he's now 3) but apparently have very low AMH (0.4) and DP has low motility so we're having ICSI. Chances of success are not good at all, we've been told.
I'm based overseas and the clinic isn't particularly informative so am gleaning all the information I can from you guys!
I don't understand the whole short/long protocol thingy, but I was on the pill for a month, started sniffing Synarol twice a day a week and a half ago. Now I'm on a fat daily dose of Merional.
Egg collection planned for 6-8th July. Eek!

Persipan · 26/06/2015 09:28

Welcome Miffy, of course you can join us!

AndMiffyWentToSleep · 26/06/2015 19:10

Thanks Persipan!
So I think I've just stuffed up my second jab. Some of it spurted out of the needle as I was mixing it, but just some drops. Then I'm not sure what happened but when I jabbed myself, it didn't feel like there was any for me to plunge in. Argh.

kazcal · 26/06/2015 20:11

Hi Miffy, u will get the hang of the jabs Ive sometimes squirted a bit out when pushing it up to make sure it comes out!! My 1st cycle was 3 wks long of injections!!, unfortunatly i mis-carried so im on my 2nd attempt & this cycle is only 15 days of injections with higher dosage & 3 different drugs to inject. I too am on the icsi as my fella has low "normal" swimmers! Smile

warriorbot · 26/06/2015 22:06

Thank you all for your support. Totally worth it. Don't stop believing!

Any on looking to start ivf/icsi in the new year?
Persipan · 26/06/2015 22:11

Yay warrior!

BadgerFace · 27/06/2015 11:23

Warrior!!!!!!!! Oh my god, that photo just nearly made me cry. [I blame the hormones]. Totally, totally Don't stop believing

Welcome Miffy. You'll get the hang of the injections and don't worry about spilling a bit, I am sure it won't make any difference in the long run.

Good luck you in this cycle ladies, it's your turn next for that BFP!

AndMiffyWentToSleep · 27/06/2015 13:21

Congratulations Warrior! So, so pleased for you!

ToesAndFingersCrossed · 27/06/2015 13:59

Warrior - Yippee! Congratulations!

Badger - yes, I had my day 2 down regging injection on Wednesday - the nurse did it for me, it looked more complicated than the buserelin I was doing myself for the fresh cycle! My bum still hurts where she did it Sad there is no dignity left!

Kaz - hope your bleed came through on time and you're injecting again! Mine was obviously late, because my body likes to taunt me!

Miffy - icsi here too! We got pregnant the first cycle but sadly I miscarried at 11weeks. I squirted loads of the stuff in the wrong places and we ended up with 2 very good looking embryos so don't worry about it, you'll get the hang of it!

warriorbot · 29/06/2015 14:21

Good luck to all those squirting and injecting and waiting. Hang in there!

Toes - intramuscular injections are horrible! A little ice on the injection site and a bit of a massage really helps.

I have my blood test today - just waiting for the results. Booked for a (what seems like a very) early scan on the 13th July. I'll be 6w5d... I hope...

I'm so proud of this little blastocyst. After our almost complete lack of fertilisation and the 4 months in the freezer, this little bugger seems to be hanging in there so far! Grin I can't stop smiling. Haven't felt like this in...gosh, ages.

warriorbot · 29/06/2015 14:27

(How was your baseline scan Persipan?)

Persipan · 29/06/2015 17:49

I was there for ages 'cos they suddenly reckoned I've got fibroids (which were never there before) so the nurse had the doctor come and do a second scan, but she reckoned they weren't a significant concern so I'm good to go. Meant I missed the train I intended to get, though; so I'm on the next one now and will get home annoyingly late.

warriorbot · 29/06/2015 18:50

Oooh, maddening, Persian. FWIW I have a small fibroid and it doesn't seem to be causing an issue!

Just got my HCG result and it's right in the range of values for this stage (4w5d). I'm thrilled!

BadgerFace · 30/06/2015 13:24

Great news warrior, roll on your 6 week scan!!

Sorry to hear you've had a frustrating start Persipan, but at least you are good to go.

I hope your bum bruise has faded now Toes! Wink

I have my 12 week scan on Friday - eeek! Fingers crossed, it's one hurdle I really want to get over...

warriorbot · 30/06/2015 14:39

Crossing everything for you and the Badgette, Badger

AndMiffyWentToSleep · 01/07/2015 12:23

Persipan, well once the irritation of missing the train has passed, at least you can be glad you're good to go.
Badger, good luck for Friday!
And great news, Warrior, I'm cheering you on!

I'm just back from my first scan (I started stimming on Thursday). Absolutely nothing happening on my right ovary. Four, maybe five follicles on my left. She didn't tell me their size but said they were small but may grow. Ho hum.
She's upped my dose to the highest level now so I get the joy of a morning jab as well as an evening one.
I asked how the thickness of my lining was looking but she said there was nothing we can do about that so wouldn't tell me.
Next appointment is Monday...

warriorbot · 01/07/2015 14:06

Mmmmm - they sound very uncommunicative, Miffy! Hope the boost to your stimulation does the trick and you get 4 or 5 nice ones. When's the next scan?

AndMiffyWentToSleep · 01/07/2015 14:43

Next scan is on Monday.
Part of me is relieved I don't know their exact size so I'm not disappointed comparing myself to all the other people posting online, but at the same time I'd like to know if they were 'normal small' or 'small small' i.e. how much hope should I keep.

And now I have a silly question. I've been jabbing my tummy on alternate sides. Given that my right is doing nothing, should I just jab on the left or keep alternating or does it make no difference, do you think?

BadgerFace · 01/07/2015 17:08

I think it's better not to know sizes Miffy as comparisons with others at day X of stimming doesn't mean much and follicles can change very very quickly. Hopefully the upped dosage will help chivvy those follicles along!

I personally would carry on alternating injections for comfort. From a medical perspective I don't think it makes a difference on which side for which ovary is being stimulated. I think you can also inject 2 cm above and below the belly button as well as side to side but I could be wrong! Good luck on Monday at your next scan.
