Anyone starting IUI soon?

I have a clinic appointment tomorrow, I think to start injections, feeling a bit nervous about the whole thing, looking for others experiences and general chat/support.

This is the first cycle, anyone else in a similar position??

Oh no! Why are they cancelling it?

I'm really sorry to hear that, I was warned that the first one is often cancelled as they need to judge how your body is reacting to the drugs. Will you try naturally this cycle anyway?

It's all such an emotional roller coaster isn't it-sending you lots of hugs x

aaLaa · 07/01/2014 12:56

App the have to cancel it if you have 3 or more follicles over 14mm and then the next cycle then will reduce the dose.
I called the clinic this morning because I was slightly confused after thinking it all through yesterday. They think that I will have a period in the next 2 weeks then I have to call and get another scan, before starting injections again

They said I should 'be careful' about having sex incase it leads to preg and possibly multiple birth, but I think I'm going to anyway ?? ( I doubt anything will happen after all this time!!)

How is everyone else today??

That's annoying for you, we don't have scans on day 8 at our clinic. I go in for my day 5 scan on Thursday.

I would go for it anyway as well, I'd be happy with multiples! X

worriedmum100 · 07/01/2014 17:45

Oh how frustrating aaLaa. The doc at our clinic said that if there were more than 4 follicles they would do something similar to egg collection in IVF where they "collapse" the follicle to prevent an egg popping out (probably not the right terminology but that's how I remember it!).

I'm also having a bad day (not as bad as yours though). Temp drop this morning so I know AF is on the way and I feel really down about it. I thought I'd feel better this month with the treatment plan in place but I don't. I still have that desperate feeling in the pit of my stomach that we're never going to have another child and I feel so sad. Damn hormones.

I think it's been made worse by the clinic to be honest. They asked us to get initial tests done at the GP but when I faxed over the results the clinic said that there were some tests missing (the GP seemed a bit clueless about some of the requested tests - I guess they're not standard). My AF is nearly upon me and now I have to try and get these additional tests done at the clinic (at an extortionate cost) before she arrives. Its really added to the stress of it all and I so wanted to be relaxed about all this. Sigh. I really don't want to have to delay for another month - I'm soooo tired of all the waiting. :(

Sorry - whinge over.

aaLaa our clinic took 4 or more to be a cancelled cycle. We went ahead when there were 3 over 14mm. I fell pg and two sacs were seen at 6weeks but only one of them was occupied and we now have a DS who is 19mo.

Happilymarried155 · 08/01/2014 10:38

Mine is 4 follies too.

How have you got on chasing your tests worried? It's just constant hurdles isn't it, you overcome one and feel like your getting somewhere and then there's always a set back!

We will all get there eventually! X

aaLaa · 08/01/2014 15:46

I guess all clinics are different. I just hope that AF comes sooner rather than later, nurse said maybe 2 weeks or so. Then can start again from the beginning, I've just to keep on with nasal spray.

Worried- how are you getting on with your tests?
Happily- how are you, have you started injections yet??

Hi All

Went to clinic for rest of tests today and DP is going tomorrow so should all be sorted before AF arrives. Thought she might come today but thankfully didn't.

Still a bit unsure of clinic. When I was with the nurse today I could hear everything that was being said in the room next door. Not great on confidentiality then! The nurse was very knowledgeable and efficient though. She said they get this issue a lot with tests done at GP. They'd prefer you did all tests there but doing them at GP saves money and every penny counts with a financial commitment as large as this one!

Glad I chose clinic near work rather than near home as I was able to just pop out ans get them done and not have to take a whole morning or afternoon off.

Happilymarried155 · 08/01/2014 19:00

I've got my day 5 scan tommorow so first injections will be tommorow. My previous iui treatments were both done on cd12 so it's a pretty short cycle with iui.

I have that problem worried, the clinic is quite far so 'popping out' for a quick scan is actually abit of a pain with work etc! X

worriedmum100 · 09/01/2014 17:26

How was your scan happily?

Happilymarried155 · 09/01/2014 18:17

All went fine, said there's a couple of follies on each side-just need to start my injections tonight and then go back next Thursday for cd11 scan.

How is everyone else getting on? X

worriedmum100 · 10/01/2014 11:33

Well AF arrived so I'm now on my way to the clinic for my baseline scan as Monday would have been too late.I feel really nervous and a bit stressed because today was a non work today so was at home with DS and literally had to drop everything to get to clinic on time. Thankfully there was family around to have DS.

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

Happilymarried155 · 11/01/2014 09:27

Thank goodness you have family around to help. Keep us posted on how you are getting on.

I have my cd11 scan on wed and then I think they will peform the iui on the thur afternoon.

How is everyone else getting on?

worriedmum100 · 12/01/2014 17:36

Turned out that my womb lining was a millimeter too thick to check for cysts so I have to go back tomorrow. I'll know for the future that when they say phone on the first day of AF they mean when AF is flowing reasonably heavily!

They were able to do a scan to check follicles though and I had 7 on each side which they said was good. I've been given my Clomid but can't start taking it until they've given me the go ahead tomorrow. Then I'm to take it for 5 days then another scan on the 18th which will be day 8.

Hope everyone else is ok.

aaLaa · 12/01/2014 21:37

Happily- best of luck for Thursday!! And your Wednesday scan. How any cycles of iui have you done?

Worried- good luck for your scan tomorrow. 7 follicles sounds great.

Hope you all have had a good weekend

This will be my third and final attempt. The first one worked but sadly ended in miscarriage at 10 weeks, the second failed but I'm hoping third time lucky otherwise it's IVF next month for us. I'm feeling positive though-it's worked before no reason it shouldn't again!!

That's sounds great worried. Keep us posted!
Hope everyone else is ok xx

Happilymarried155 · 15/01/2014 11:08

So... I had my scan and I have too many follies! 7 in fact. Can't believe it- this is the first time this had happened! She told me not try naturally but wrongly it roughly I'm going to anyway! X

worriedmum100 · 15/01/2014 20:03

Oh I hope you're not too disappointed. Did they change your drugs this time? Totally agree with the trying naturally anyway. In our situation you never want to "waste" a cycle!

aaLaa · 15/01/2014 22:08

Happily- how are you feeling? It's v frustrating to be cancelled, surely that doesn't count as your last shot though. Did they change your medication this cycle?

Good luck with the natural way, I wonder if anyone actually doesn't try, and there are not many cases of septomum or octomum!!

OP posts:
Happilymarried155 · 15/01/2014 22:09

No change of drugs the only thing that's different is that I started taking royal jelly as that's meant to improve the quality of your eggs. It quite clearly works as my other cycles I only one or two follies!

Exactly, the way I see it is that I'm the most fertile I've ever been I'm not going to miss that! How is everyone else getting on?

worriedmum100 · 19/01/2014 11:03

Hello,

Just had my cd9 scan and I've got 3 follies at around 14mm so looking ok. They told me to start using ov sticks from today. I'm booked in for another scan on Tuesday (cd11) and depending on the size they might trigger and do insemination that day or possibly insemination on Wednesday. This is a bit earlier than I was expecting as usually don't ovulate til cd15/16/17. How long after trigger does the ovulation happen?

Anyway, v pleased all going to plan but still struggling with the uncertainty if it all and feeling like its all a bit "guessworky"!

Happilymarried155 · 19/01/2014 12:32

You normally ovulate 24-36 hours after trigger. Glad it's going ok, three follies is great :)

aaLaa · 19/01/2014 20:41

That sounds great worried - fingers crossed!! Can wait to hear the next bit.

Happily, are you just waiting for AF so you can start again?

My cycle was cancelled 2 weeks ago and still no sign of AF, not sure when to give the clinic a call, until now I have usually needed provera to start my period, they seem to suggest that it would come as I am on the nasal spray but I'm not convinced for some reason.

OP posts:
Happilymarried155 · 20/01/2014 15:32

Yes just waiting now. I got a positive opk on Friday so I would at would normally arrive 16 days after that. Hopefully that is the case or even better we have gotten lucky this month! :)

Do you know if you ovulated? It's such a pain, I feel like I've been waiting for three years now! It's always one step closer, two steps back! X

aaLaa · 20/01/2014 21:57

Fingers crossed*happ
