Hope this is right ladies ...

It's so hard to tell. I wish there was some kind of test that could tell you what percentage of your eggs are rubbish, it would save a lot of ladies a whole lot of heartache I think. Liking the idea of having a 'holiday' at the same time as doing IVF, it would take a lot of the stress out of it - especially if you know DH is enjoying himself (and so not getting grumpy about the IVF side of things!).

Well. OH said ... absolutely nothing! No comment, nothing at all. Did my jab, he said absolutely nothing! Sigh. Anyone got a 'banging my head against a brick wall' smilie handy? I don't know if he's all for this (but saying nothing), or totally p*d off with the whole thing (and saying nothing). Or doesn't care a jot either way. Aaarrgghhh.

suemays · 25/02/2014 17:45

At least he is not arguing with you about it! I think its better in a way if he is not at odds with you about it as I am guessing that you would still want to go ahead if he didnt approve?

A test to tell you about egg quality would be great! I wonder if that will ever happen though? Probably too late for us all.

Mel3062 · 25/02/2014 18:10

I agree with sue ari, men are funny beings. My hubby will say enoughs enough at some point esp if it interferes with our home life such as no money to live off! I'm dredding that day, it's different totally for them.

Ari can I ask, I took neupogen sun pm so should I do another tonight or tomorrow? It's every 4 days?x

OP posts:
Arianrhod · 26/02/2014 11:09

lol Very good thought sue, at least he hasn't argued (yet). What's going to happen when he has to sign the IVF form, I don't know! (both partners have to sign each time you do a new cycle)

mel - I do my neupogen shot every day, so I'm not sure, but I would expect if the instructions say every four days that you would do one tonight? If you're not sure, I'd email and ask for clarification, tbh.

Mel3062 · 26/02/2014 11:45

Ok thanks
Just another thought... I wonder if when/if I need ivf how do they know if to use your eggs or donor?? A question for me to ask when it's time I guess.wonder what my hubby will make of that! I'm going to ask sister if shel do intralipids, anyone experience if DIY?! Wish me luck!! Really not keen on £270!!

I did have a waking dream that there were dogs that had been trained to sniff out a dodgy egg as it was being ovulated and would bark to alert you not to bother that month. A bit like the ones that have been trained to sniff out skin cancer or impending fits. Not that I'm in any obsessed with this fertility malarkey or anything ... But I'm not sure if a dodgy egg would smell any different from a good one, even to dog's nose.

brownstag · 26/02/2014 12:04

Thanks so much for the hydroxy, Ari!

brownstag · 26/02/2014 12:05

... Or whether even a blood hound could sniff an egg through the inches of rolls covering my ovaries.

Arianrhod · 26/02/2014 12:18

LOL brown!! Love that idea. And you're very welcome, hope they help! It irritates me no end that you can't get another px from Mr S without having to pay for yet another consultation with him.

mel Well I guess you'd try a cycle and see how you respond, although of course that's no indicator of quality - although the grading of the resulting embryos/blasts might be some indication? You can always do aCGH like duggs did, if you wanted to make sure the egg(s) put back were chromosomally ok, I guess? I'm just not going to risk it at my age, the odds are almost all, if not all, of my eggs would be knackered now :(

Mel3062 · 26/02/2014 12:51

Brown you did make me laugh!!
How old are you ari if you don't mind me asking?
What's acgh?
Yes I know if I went back to mr s it would be Another charge, not seen him since may!

OP posts:
Arianrhod · 26/02/2014 13:11

I'm 46, ancient! :) aCGH is Array Comparative Genomic Hybridisation and it screens the chromosomes present in an embryo. Have a look here www.carefertility.com/genetics-programme-sc2/pgs-genetic-screening-sj3/ if you're interested.

Mel3062 · 26/02/2014 15:52

Thanks I'll ask mr g when/ if need be. You're as old as you feel ;)

Mmm If that were true I'd have been successfully pregnant 7 times over by now! :D

lemonsherbet · 26/02/2014 20:23

ari when I took DS to meet his grandmother she came out with just think if they had all stuck you would be a mum of 5 now. Was not sure how to respond to that.

Loving the dog idea.

duggs1976 · 01/03/2014 07:37

Hi ladies... Flights all booked to Athens for 20 march... Then got a BFP. Went skiing anyway as I couldn't face another mc ruining our lives and holiday plans. Been and come back and now 6wks today. Time will tell but penny has been more than amazingly supportive. If this pg doesn't work out I'm straight out there for donor egg as my own eggs would have had 8 chances and almost 5 years to get their act together. Read a book i thoroughly recommend called "all I know" by an Australian called mary coustas. It's based on a true story. About her struggle with mc and IVF and donor egg journey. Look her up on YouTube and you will get the gist. How is everyone doing? Anymore appointments or progress?

Mel3062 · 01/03/2014 08:05

Oh my goodness duggs what amazing news!!! Huge congrats!! Just goes to show doesn't it?! Fingers firmly crossed. I'm looking at hols at mo ;) thanks for book recommendation I like reading stuff like that. When are you having a scan? What were you taking I've forgotten. I'm currently in 2ww after lit booster and trying to sort intralipids at home with fingers firmly crossed. Wow lovely news!! X

OP posts:
duggs1976 · 01/03/2014 09:14

I have scan a week thursday. Was taking nothing so started pred, hydroxy and intrallipids on bfp. Think it's all down to the egg if quality is bad like the others nothing will save it!

Mel3062 · 01/03/2014 09:27

Well fingers firmly crossed for a good egg :)

OP posts:
suemays · 01/03/2014 09:58

This could be the elusive egg at last! I wondered why you had gone a bit quiet on here! Did you or DH have acupuncture before the bfp? I remembered your DH had some last year?? So pleased for you although I know you must be frantic with worry. Like you say, nothing you can do if it is a bad egg.
I am in 2ww too so let's hope we get a few more spring bfps!

brownstag · 01/03/2014 10:17

Oh Duggs, that's wonderful news!

Mel3062 · 01/03/2014 10:36

About time we had nice news lets hope it all continues and the suns shining ;)
