Hey super ovulators and those struggling with infertility after miscarriage this is where we are! Come on over ...

from what I read your homocysteine levels can fluctuate a lot. I looked it up when being diagnosed with mthfr. The only thing I did different in this pregnancy was pregacare max with is 200 of folic acid and 200 of lmethylfolate. I am mthfr homozygous. But Mr S does not think that that is relevant. He recommends 5mg of folic acid and aspirin. But did not want to take just folic acid. Was a bit worried about taking l methylfolate supplements over the internet because was not enitrely sure what isomer it is. Read about different isomers on mthfr net.

Arianrhod · 26/06/2013 09:29

Yes lemon, as long as you get the right methylfolate you're ok (I also read and followed the advice from that article on mthfr.net). I know Mr S doesn't think it's relevant, but I'm afraid I beg to differ, from everything I've read.

lemonsherbet · 26/06/2013 10:14

ari I agree with you. But everytime I brought it up I was told it was not relevant. If we were in the States it would be treated. I was hoping that now pregacare now have it that other supplements in the UK would start adding l methylfolate. But that doesn't seem to be happening

Pebbles73 · 26/06/2013 13:14

Does anyone know what the username is on Miscarriage Website so you can view treatment? I only have the password. Thanks in advance.

Pebbles73 · 26/06/2013 14:01

Well we have decided to do ivf at New Life, seeing Mr Gafar on the 8th July. Apparently there is no waiting list it anything so in theory should be able to start straight away friending on cycle. They said I should take all my previous paperwork as he liked 15 mins to look through everything, I advised that he might need a bit longer as I have sooo much! Smile

Hope everybody is ok.

Arianrhod · 26/06/2013 15:05

pebbles If I recall correctly, the username is actually on the webpage?

Sounds like an excellent plan to see Mr G, I've only ever heard good things about him. Let us know how you get on!

suemays · 26/06/2013 17:11

*pebbles did you find out about the 2013 stats - how many people started cycles and how many live births there were?

duggs1976 · 26/06/2013 20:05

Lads check out the pred thread post from Danny on there as she explains her ivf immunes protocol v. Interesting read. Pebbles glad you are moving forward - I echo sue's question too any idea?Smile

Interesting - she doesn't mention what level her NK cells are/were at though? Penny does something similar, except she has you on 10mg pred for a month before ET, intralipids 7-10 days before ET, again on ET, and then again for as frequently as needed, every 2 weeks in my case.

It's very interesting to hear what the different clinics' protocols are. I wish there were some way of setting up a proper analysis of results though - you know, with proper comparison between NK levels, actual underlying problems, and then the different results from the different treatments. Impossible I imagine as I doubt the clinics would cooperate with each other to the extent it would be necessary to get meaningful data, but it would be great if they did.

Pebbles73 · 27/06/2013 19:19

Sorry ladies I didn't ask as wasn't sure if receptionist would be able to answer that kind of thing, will ask Mr G at consultation.

Had some info through from them today and a leaflet that says you get free Embryoglue with ivf, have googled and is a fluid they put the embryos in before transfer to help implantation. The price list seems to be different to website and ivf is £3250.

I haven't been on pred thread for months Duggs and always seem to have difficulty finishing it! What number is it up to?

When us your next scan Ari?

Arianrhod · 27/06/2013 21:18

Embryoglue pebbles, that made me laugh! What a great name :)
Scan is tomorrow morning, guess that's make or break time :(.

buzzybee123 · 27/06/2013 21:28

ari I'll be thinking of you tomorrow

Mel3062 · 27/06/2013 21:41

My daughter passed her driving test first time today with just 1 minor. She's had lessons for a year and a half and isn't the most confident so to get some good news was refreshing!!
Though I'm on day 10dpo today and got a bfn but last time I got bfp on day 12 so still hoping.
Ari I'm sure you'll be in all our thoughts tomorrow xx

brownstag · 28/06/2013 08:32

Good luck Ari.
Can't quite believe it but I have got a BFP yesterday and today, on a Numark test that I've never used before. Going to buy a First Response after the school run. Can someone really go from barren at 40 to superfertile at 42? Not holding my breath ...

BellyD · 28/06/2013 08:45

Wow Brown whispered congrats! Were you just trying naturally this month?

Ari best of luck for today, thinking of you.

We got a bfn after our ivf yesterday. We knew it was a long shot but got increasingly hopeful as time went on. Still our dream of becoming parents is as far away as ever and a bit of a perfect storm in as far as our 6th baby would have been due this week, the ivf didn't work and the Royal baby due any minute to act as a constant reminder. Think we are going to try and escape on holiday to lick our wounds and decide where to go from here. Sorry to be on a downer.

brownstag · 28/06/2013 09:35

Really sorry to hear that Belly. I totally agree about the Royal baby, although wasn't there rumour that she had had treatment to get pregnant (or did I make that up)? I remind myself of that every time there's something on the news about it, that even if you're young, rich and famous doesn't guarantee you fertility. Is there not time for you yet to get a positive?
First Response says yes, very faintly. I can recommend those Numark tests now, as they give a good line very early. Yes, this was a natural cycle with pred 10mg from 4dpo and just restarted hydroxy. Plus about 15 supplements, some of which I'd only starting taking the cycle I got pregnant in February. Something seems to be working.
Mel, congrats to your daughter. As someone who had 7 different driving instructors before passing, I can empathise with her relief and pride!

lemonsherbet · 28/06/2013 10:52

congratsbrown

Hugs belly

Lurking for news of ari

Waves to everyone else

duggs1976 · 28/06/2013 11:02

Oh belly honey. Can I ask a it about the cycle? Was it your first ivf?

OP posts:
duggs1976 · 28/06/2013 11:03

Brown - inevitable question - give us a list of your seemingly magic supplements pls - fingers crossed for you x

OP posts:
brownstag · 28/06/2013 11:20

Duggs, thanks, these were the new supplements I took from February:
l-arginine 2 x 750mg (also 500mg to DH, only on the days we DTD - seemed to work like Viagra)
Selenium 200 mcg
Magnesium 375mg
All these from Healthspan.

I also take a multi, a lowish dose B complex, vit D, co-enzyme Q10 200mg, agnus castus (since the miscarriage), zinc 30mg (for the boils), vegan omega oil from algae, 2000mg evening primrose oil before ovulation, and 1000mg flax oil after.
Asprin of course.

brownstag · 28/06/2013 11:58

Has anyone found that First Response has a lighter line than other tests? You would have thought it would be a better line as more sensitive. Mentalling has taken all of 2 hours and 45 minutes to start up ...
Ari, any news yet?

Arianrhod · 28/06/2013 12:02

belly I'm so sorry :( I know what you mean about the Royal baby, it's really p*ing me off too!

brown Cautious woohoo!! I so hope this works - remember you're not barren by any means, think of Abney, it worked for her (eventually) didn't it? :)

Sorry I'm not very chatty, had it confirmed at the scan that this pregnancy isn't going anywhere. Sac had grown 2mm but nothing else had developed. So it's stop all meds and miscarry, and try to get OH to agree to one last cycle in Sept/Oct. Given that he pretty much doesn't want to talk about the whole thing, that isn't going to be easy.

/waves to everyone

brownstag · 28/06/2013 12:33

I'm really sorry, Ari. I'm sure despite what your head was telling you, that you've been hoping until the last possible second. It's no consolation but at least the limbo is over and you can start to grieve and then look forward again.

Mel3062 · 28/06/2013 12:44

Ari so sorry to hear that. Brown so pleased for you unfortunately I don't think that's the case for me this month x
